Derek was screaming at the top of his lungs which resulted in Peter bolting into Derek's room. Just to see Derek having a nightmare which was causing Derek to punch and kick in every direction.
Peter immediately after somehow managing to get behind derek in a seated position. Then grabbed derek into a fierce hug while all the while saying
" it's ok Derek, it's okay." It's okay derek it's okay it's just a nightmare."
After nearly thirty minutes of this Derek after finally having calmed down was laying there. With Peter holding him and still saying comforting things while still holding him.
Derek was still shaking pretty fiercely though so Peter picked Derek up and brought him to his own room.
Then sat there holding Derek as his nephew continued to shake from his nightmares. This was how the rest of the night was spent with Derek shaking and Peter holding his nephew tight.
As Derek walked into school the Monday after his suspension had ended his mind wandered. The object behind the wandering was the discussion uncle peter and himself had had after the full moon. The main focus of the discussion being about his anchor.
Before he could think anymore about the discussion he heard a voice. The voice was calling out his name. Derek suddenly realized that it was Colton.
Derek an Colton had quickly become allies not just because of the full moon.
Rather it was because she had helped his uncle Peter. Helped him calm Derek down and to prevent him from causing harm.
As Derek continued walking he suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder which caused him to turn so quick his neck cracked.
"Whoa, careful Derek don't break your neck," Colton said as she laughed with a smile that caused Derek's mood to lighten.
"Hey Colton," Derek said as they continued to walk towards the chemistry classroom for torture with Mr. Harris.
Then suddenly Colton pulled Derek off to the side as calm as possible and then asked Derek if he should really be here, what with it only being just after his first full moon.
"I'm fine Colton, but I want some questions answered after school Colton,"
Derek said to her with both a determined look and voice, which clearly meant hat it was nonnegotiable.
"I'll answer any and all questions that you have Derek, just not... Here, just not here."
"Fine after school at my house, I'll drive you in the camaro,"
Derek said to her with a determined gaze and then that was all as he walked through the door into Mr Harris' class.
As the class went on Derek was continually jarred awake by Colton due to the lack of sleep that he had managed last night. And the night before that, and the one before that as well.
Nightmares still continued to plague him off and on during the night, sometimes it was about Paige, sometimes about the fire, sometimes about other things.
" and what did you get for number forty-six Mr Hale," Mr Harris asked Derek in an attempt towards catching him off guard but luckily Derek had kept up with the homework.
" I got 1,305," Derek responded in turn with a voice that clearly expressed how much that he truly did not want to be in class.
" Very good Mr. Hale I'm glad that your suspension did not cause your brain to fall out of your own ears,"
Derek was not even in the slightest way sure whether to take Mr. Harris' comment as an insult or as a compliment.
As soon as Derek was sure that was finished with him Derek turned back to the drawing that he had been working on earlier. After class was finished Derek felt Colton's eyes focused on his back.
"What?"
He said with an exhausted tone with his back still facing her as he grabbed one of the straps on his backpack to place on his shoulder.
" why are you so tired?"
Colton on asked him with a concerned look on her face as they both continued to walk towards their next class.
" I'm fine Colton I'm just tired,"
Derek said as he walked into the classroom preparing himself to at least attempt to stay awake throughout his next class.
Almost halfway through the class Derek looked down at his desk to see the wood-like pattern moving, almost like a fire. No it is a fire Derek thought to himself as he began to sweat, it's the fire, then he began to hear voices.
The voices of both his mother and father saying that it clearly was his fault that they, that his entire family had burned in the fire.
Quickly looking around the room to see if anyone else was hearing any of this he suddenly froze upon looking to the front of the room to see Paige, just standing there. Then listened as she began to speak in a voice full of rage saying to Derek
" It was your fault that I died Derek, it was your fault! Your fault Derek!"
Suddenly Derek jolted up into a sitting position gasping for air and then felt like a complete idiot and laughing stock. Due to everyone looking in his direction as if he was crazy, then he immediately realized that he must have been having a nightmare. Hopefully i didn't mention anything about Paige, Derek thought to himself silently.
Before anyone could say anything to him Derek quickly said
"I'm going to the bathroom."
The teacher just nodded rather than saying anything, and Derek didn't look back just walked straight out into the parking lot, got into the camaro, and then drove home.
He did not care in the slightest if he would or even could get in trouble from either his uncle or even the school. All he knew was one thing and that was that he had to get out of there before Colton could catch him.
That's why even though he was pretty sure that he had heard Colton's voice as he was driving off that he did not in the slightest slow down. Derek just had to get out of there before everything went to hell even more so than it already was.
When Derek was pulling up into the driveway he immediately groaned, because standing there in the driveway with his arms crossed was his uncle Peter. Peter looked not mad exactly more so did he just looked a little curios and even concerned also. Derek after he had climbed out of the camaro taking his time he then turned to Peter and said,
"Hey Peter what's up?"
" I just got a call from your teacher saying that you went to the bathroom during class but then never came back, why is that?"
Peter asked Derek with a look that clearly said that he was not going to take I'm fine or it was nothing as an answer.
There's a house by the rails that I know
In a valley on its own
With trains and bones and birds in the yard
where the wild nettles grow.
Growing over the door
Growing up through the walls
Growing up, growing over
A treasure to be told.
So wave goodbye to living alone
I think we've found our home
Lets paint these walls and pull up the weeds
and cast our fevers in stone.
Growing out of the drugs
Growing up through the night
Growing up, growing old
With treasure to be told...
