The morning starts off in the dining room where there are two tables. It is usually split into a girl's table and a guy's-and-Hanon table. (As you have previously learned, the Zeldas drive me insane.)
But in the morning it is different. In the morning there is a tea table and a coffee table. Actually, that may be the one thing that Vio and Shadow disagree on. That and, y'know, basic morals.
Then there's me, sitting on a chair in the corner. I prefer hot chocolate, even in the summer. I mean, it's... it's just freaking hot chocolate. Can't go wrong with that.
When we all head out, the first thing I do is feed my white loftwing. I call her Spirit. Vio and Shadow usually come with, because what are besties for? Vio tries to stay calm, even though it's no secret, at least to Shads and I, that loftwings terrify him out of his freakin' mind. Shadow just blabbers on about how crazy awesome epic it would be to attack on a black loftwing in the middle of the night, and I don't want to tell him that they can't fly at night for fear of cwushing his wittle dweams. Poor him.
And that's pretty much the gist of it. Hot chocolate, loftwing, run to school. Oh, that last part? That's another thing. We're always late. Always. School starts at 8:00. We're there at 8:30. Well, except Vio. How he sneaks off early like that is beyond me.
But this morning it was different.
Because when I got up and looked in the mirror - after putting my contacts in, of course - what I saw startled me beyond belief.
My left eye was bright yellow.
I paced back and forth, back and forth, quietly whispering to myself. "How did this happen? My eyes only turn yellow when I'm mad. Really mad. But I'm not mad. I'm super happy, because today is..."
And then it hit me. "YES! That's the answer! That's it! I am a genius! Of course I'll have to run my theory by Vio..." I ran out into the hallway, still in my pajamas. "V-I-OOOOO!"
A sleepy head topped with bedraggled hair emerged from a doorway. "Hanon, if you would keep it down, I could do my early morning studiiiiiiiiii... What in Hyrule happened to your eye?"
I rushed forwards, exited. "I know, right? Actually, I don't know for sure, but I have a super plausible theory! So, since today is-"
"Alright, I'm grabbing every book I can on the subject of hybrids. I'll do my research and get back to you later."
"But today is-"
"Nice talking to you, I have to go to the library!"
Vio dashed away in a flash, not bothering to hear me out.
Suddenly my stomach growled. I never noticed how hungry I was. I walked down the stairs to find only Zelda. Zelda "the original." My soon-to-be sister-in-law. Yeah, they're engaged. I'm trying to deny it.
"Woah, Hanon, what is the matter with your eye?"
"Well, I think it's because today is-"
"Hang on, I'll go fetch your brother."
"But today is-"
"Just hold on!"
She dashed up the stairs and returned only a minute later dragging Sky behind her. Literally dragging him.
Once they reached the bottom of the stairs, Zelda planted her hands firmly on her hips. "See, what did I tell you?"
"Wow."
"It's because today is-"
"That is so weird, Hanon."
"I know. You see, since today is- "
"I'll go in early and speak with Headmaster Gaepora."
"But today is-"
"Gotta fly!"
And with that, he left.
I got dressed quickly and left way earlier than usual, before Shadow even woke up. Outside it was chilly, and there was a bit of snow on the ground from the last blizzard we got. The town really took a hammering with that one. We lost an old man to frostbite. But as usual, we all bounced back, and the city was running as smoothly as ever.
Well, except for Shadow running around screaming that the world was gonna end. And he was thoroughly convinced that it was! See, while he did freeze Blue in that ice cave, he never actually went there himself. He had never seen snow before, and thought that the sky was falling. It was pretty funny, to be honest. The rest of us had fun playing while Vio explained to Shadow that frozen water was falling from the clouds and we would all live to see tomorrow. Then we had an Ultimate Snowball Fight of Death. (In which I won, obviously.)
I smiled at the memory until I heard my name being called rather loudly. "HANOOOOOON!"
Ekat glomped me from behind. "Hello, Hanon! Wow, what's with your eye?"
"Well, I think it's because today is-"
"Hey look, there's Shadow! Gotta run, sorry."
With that she took off.
Why does the world hate me? Also, Shadow was up pretty early. Weird.
I ran the rest of the way to school.
-boring classes happen, blah blah blah-
-lunchtime-
I looked up at the tree that I was sitting under. It was barren. Like my soul! (JK.)
Vio came over and sat next to me. "So, I haven't found anything yet, but Headmaster Gaepora thinks he might have. I'm going to visit him. I have an appointment from 12:00-12:20, but I thought I'd risk being a bit late to come talk to you for a bit."
"Alright, so I think my eye might be doing this cuz today is-"
"Oh my, already 12:10? I'm sorry, I have to go!"
I shook my head. "Why do I even bother?"
-meanwhile-
-3rd person POV-
"Did you do the job?"
Midna nodded. "Yes, sir. Everyone has forgotten."
"Wonderful. If Hanon goes demon on them, they will hate her! Are you absolutely sure that no one suspects you?"
"Not a single one of them. They all think it might be Shadow."
"Typical. With his past, who would blame him? He has every right to go berserk on the entire town! Oh, seeing that town up in flames, lifeless bodies scattered along the streets... it would just fill my heart with rainbows!"
"Yes, sir."
"You may take your leave!"
"Yes, sir."
-Vio's POV-
Hanon was gloomy for the rest of the day. I didn't know why.
I was walking home from school, pondering the situation, when my foot hit something. Someone had dropped a small vial on the dirt road. I picked it up and read the label out loud.
"Memories- Vio"
Someone took some of my memories! But what was I supposed to remember? I opened the vial and it all came back to me. Quickly realizing it, I rushed home. How could I have forgotten today?!
-Hanon's POV-
When I opened the door to my room, Vio was waiting for me. He wrapped me in a hug and whispered in my ear. "Happy Birthday."
I smiled. "Finally, you remembered!"
A grim look, even more serious than usual, took over his almost-nearly-kind of-happy expression that he had been wearing just moments earlier. "I never forgot. My memories were stolen." He held up a vial. "And kept in here. Come on, we're going to see Twilight.
-in Twilight's room-
"So, you can sniff this, right?" I huffed, not exactly proud to be accepting help from Twilight.
"Yeah. I still have a wolf like sense of smell."
He picked up the vial and smelled it. His facial expression sunk. "No. No."
He sniffed it again. "There's no mistake. Vio, Hanon..." We waited. It seemed as if he was about to cry. "Well? Who is it?" I was getting impatient.
"This vial reeks of Midna."
-Time Skip-
We cornered Midna as she was leaving the forest.
"I believe this is yours." I tossed her the empty vial. She looked down at it, and upon realizing just what it was, her eyes widened and she fell to her knees.
"Link...Twilight... I'm sorry..."
"Sorry?" I yelled, "Sorry isn't enough for this, lady! You put all of us in danger! Shadow especially!"
She began to cry. Vio put a hand on my shoulder. He said nothing, but even without telepathy I knew what he was thinking. 'Calm down and let her explain.'
She explained the best she could through her sobbing. "He-he approached me *sniff* right after I got here *sob* and s-said that if I did-d-didn't report *sniff* to him every d-day, that he'd make s-sure that my kind n-n-n-ever existed."
Twilight kneeled down to her current level. "And did you ever think that we would let that happen?"
"I k-knew that you would defend me. But w-what about everybody else?"
I stepped forward. "I would have."
Vio nodded. "I as well would have assisted you."
She looked up and smiled. "You f-forgive me?"
"Yeah!" I gave her a thumbs up. "You don't mess with my friends and get away with it!"
"You c-consider me a friend?"
"Well, I haven't killed you yet, have I?"
That made her laugh.
Suddenly I felt something cold and wet on my cheek. "Hey..." I looked up at the sky. "It's snowing!"
Twilight helped Midna up. "Now come on. I knew you hadn't been acting like yourself."
Midna giggled. "Shut up, Hero."
Twilight smiled. "She's back, everybody!"
And we went back to the house together.
I had to say, I had I bit more respect for Twilight now. But not much!
-Time Skip-
Midna restored everyone's memories as soon as she could. Red started freaking out because he was going to make a cake. Ekat and Midna helped, to make it go faster. I didn't get many presents, but I didn't care. On our way to bed Vio pulled me aside. "Here." He handed me an artist's brush set. "I knew you wouldn't want this given to you in front of the others." I smiled. "Thanks! It means a lot."
Then he smiled. A real smile, not one of those half smile things. I mean, his teeth were showing and everything. "I'm happy that you're happy." Then he left.
-the next morning-
-Shadow's POV-
Since it snowed so bad last night, Ekat had stayed over here. Also, no school! Vio was not happy about that, to say the least. This morning he had been following Time around and bugging him like heck.
"Can you play a 'Make The Snow Go Away' song?" He begged Time.
"Sorry, I don't know one."
"Write one!"
"I don't know how!"
"Learn how to!"
"Where? From who?"
"I don't know, and I don't care. I don't care if you have to walk a hundred miles, through the snow, uphill, both ways, to the top floor in a dangerous, 300 story fire temple in Pennsylvania!"
"What's a Pennsylvania?"
"I don't know. Hanon's been there."
"Well, THAT narrows it down. Hanon's been everywhere!"
After that I just tuned them out.
Later we all went outside. I was helping Sky and Green shovel when I felt something cold and wet hit my back. I turned around to see Hanon laughing like a hyena. Even Vio was stifling a chuckle. Soon it was all-out war at the hero's household, with no particular teams. Just people chucking snow at other people. I threw at Hanon, mostly. For revenge. I missed a lot. Turns out that I had really bad aim. But Ekat was exceptionally good. She hit me square in the head at least seven times.
Then Hanon had the nerve to aim and throw a snowball right at her brother.
Sky turned around. He did not look happy. But then he smirked and threw one right back. The job of shoveling had been completely forgotten. Now it really got intense. Time and Twilight came out to see what was going on and got hit in the faces by Blue and me. Blue was actually aiming for them. I was aiming for Vio, who was on the opposite side of the front yard. Oops.
They went inside and when they returned, they had a team. A team of everyone in the household over 18 years old. Sky ran to join them, and Navi flew over to us. I looked at her. "How are you supposed to help? The snowballs are bigger then you!" She hit the ground, and in a flash of light, grew to my size. She had short blue hair and was wearing a blue dress that was short, but she didn't seem to mind, despite the cold weather. Magic, y'know? "This is how!"
Time's mouth dropped open. "You can do that?"
"Um, yeah."
Then it was true war. Kids vs Adults. The strategists (Vio and Fi) built forts to hide behind. The main fire power (Hanon, Blue, Green, Zelda, Ekat, and Navi on our side, Sky, Twilight, Time, Sky's Zelda, Twilight's Zelda, and Midna on their side) threw snowballs left and right. The rest of us made snowballs. Ammunition Crafters is what we called ourselves, but it was more of People Who Either Are Bad at Throwing or Are Too Scared to Step Outside of The Fort.
We lost.
We were all shivering when we got inside. Red made hot chocolate, and that helped.
"So Midna," Hanon asked, "What're ya gonna do now?"
"Well," she smirked, "I think I'll play my position to my advantage. Gather intel, feed that creep false information, typical spy stuff."
"But," I stated, "Someone else is going to betray us."
Green nodded. "You're right. We have to be prepared."
The entire Legion let out a hearty "YEAH!"
