Chapter 19: Not everyone here doesn't like you, Flynn!
Roxas' Point of View
"Are you gonna try to talk to us Roxas?" I heard Donald asked me as we walked through a forest. It was well lit and filled with greener which made me wonder if there was really something wrong here.
"Nope, not unless it's about the heartless or nobodies." I told them as we continued to walk through the forest. I put my hand up as I heard voices coming from a direction. Donald and Goofy fell silent as we listened. I couldn't understand what they were saying but I knew that it was a girl and a guy. When the people came into view, I saw a girl with big green eyes and seventy feet of golden blonde hair. She was wearing a dress that consisted of a lavender colored corset top that was laced with a pink ribbon. The skirt of the dress was a darker shade of purple and was decorated with swirl designs in pink, dark purple and white. Her sleeves were puffed and striped in pink and lavender around her shoulders while the rest is a pale, baby pink with white lace at the end. She wasn't wearing any shoes. The guy she was with had dark brown hair, a goatee and light brown eyes. He wore a blue vest overtop of a white long-sleeved shirt, dark cream pants and beown bucket-top boots. They didn't look that dangerous or evil but you never know. The girl's eyes widened once she saw us. She jumped onto the guy's back, wrapping her arms around his neck, holding a frying pan out to us and wrapped her legs around his waist. His back start to bend at the newly added weight but I don't think he minded.
"Blondie, you really have to relax." The guy said as he started to walked towards us. The girl gasped before holding her frying pan out more, as if attempting to scare us off.
"Hi, I'm Roxas, this is Donald and Goofy." I said holding my hand out for them to shake it.
"Flynn Rider and that's Rapunzel. It's her first time being outside of her tower so ignore her jumpyness." The guy, Flynn said as he grabbed onto my hand and shook it.
"At least she hasn't hit you in the head with that frying pan yet." Donald said and I saw Flynn flinch when he said that. Rapunzel slowly got off of Flynn's back and was now examining us.
"She already did. Had not idea how long I was knocked out for." He said as he scratched the back of his neck. I managed to contain my laughter for that moment but the others couldn't.
"So where are you heading?" I asked them since I was only one out of our group that could ask anything.
"We're going to the kingdom to see the floating lights." Rapunzel said as she smiled at me. I smiled back at her.
"Mind if we tag along?" I asked and she brought her frying pan back up. I saw that and flashed her a toothy smile. She seemed to examine my teeth before nodding her head. I was assuming that was a yes because she walked past us, letting her hair drag along behind her.
"Well, one thing is for sure. We won't lose her with all this hair." Donald said as the rest of us started to follow her.
"I know it's around here somewhere." Flynn said as we wandered around the forest, completely lost. I had no idea what he was looking for but I knew that it was probably a place that could scary Rapunzel into going back to her tower.
"Ah, there it is! The Snuggly Duckling." Flynn stated as he pointed towards a building that had moss covering the top of the roof and a green door. There was a sign with a duck stating it was the Snuggly Duckling but I had a feeling that it wasn't snuggly. "Don't worry, very quaint place. Perfect for you, Rapunzel. Don't want you scaring and giving up on this whole endeavor now, do we?"
"Well, I do like ducklings." Rapunzel said and I felt like laughing at this.
"Yay!" Flynn said when Rapunzel agreed to go in, making an awkward, terrible happy face as he leaned in to talk. We approached the door and you could hear men chattering away behind it. Just from looking in the windows, I could tell that this was not a very friendly place to be.
"Garcon, your finest table, please!" Flynn basically shouted as he threw open the door. Rapunzel closed her eyes right before Flynn opened the door, so she couldn't see the horror that was the Snuggly Duckling. I heard Rapunzel gasped and hold up her frying pan in self-defense. There were at least fifty ruffians gathered inside the room, drinking beer and what ever else they had on hand. It was quite a disgusting sight for someone that innocence.
"You smell that?" Take a deep breath through the nose." Flynn started talking before taking a deep breath in. "Really let that seep in. What are you getting? To me, it's part man-smell and the other part is really bad man-smell. I don't know why, but overall it smells like the color brown. Your thoughts?" He talked as we walked through the pub. As he finished, Rapunzel gasped again and was pulled back by her long hair.
"That's a lot of hair." One of the men said as he held her hair, she quickly started to pull it towards her, hoping to get it out of that man's grasp.
"She's growing it out. Is that blood in your mustache?" Flynn said to that man. Flynn started to talk about that man's mustache in order to scare Rapunzel. Ronald, Goofy and I followed Rapunzel further into the pub towards the fireplace where she bumped into someone.
"You don't look so good, blondie. Maybe we should get you home, call it a day, probably better off. This is a five-star joint. If you can't handle this place, maybe you should be back in your tower." Flynn said as he grabbed Rapunzel and started to lead her towards the door. Once they were near it, the door slammed shut, trapping us in here.
"Is this you?" The man who shut the door asked Flynn. Rapunzel remained hidden behind Flynn and the three of us surrounded them. The five of us looked between the wanted poster and the man. Slowly, Flynn lifted his hand towards the man's index finger and moved it off the nose of the picture. The nose was nothing like his but Flynn couldn't understand that he probably should've lied there.
"Now they're just being mean." Flynn grunted as more men started to gather around us. So all the men in the pub started to fight over Flynn and the reward that they could get. Donald, Goofy, Rapunzel, and I all tried to get into the middle of the group, reaching out to grab hold of Flynn. When we realized that we weren't getting through, Rapunzel threw some of her hair around a branch that was directly above one of the ruffians and pulled back, letting go, making the branch hit that ruffian on the top of his head. The room went silent after that and Rapunzel started to explain the situation. Soon enough, the pub burst into song, singing about all their dreams and everything that made them happy. Flynn and I continued to exchange looks throughout the song. At the end of the song, the ruffian that was sent to get the guards came back with the guards. Everyone, including Rapunzel looked towards to door. Flynn and I quickly grabbed Rapunzel and pulled her behind one of the counters. The counter above us shook as one of the guards hit it. Flynn looked up and then gasped as he came back down, a look of panic was clearly written on his face. Suddenly a hook came out close to Flynn's face. One of the ruffians kept glancing between us and a trap door. He sent the five of us off into a dark tunnel. We continued to go through until we came out on the other side of the tunnel. We ended up on a ledge with a water dam right in front of us.
"Who's that?" Rapunzel asked as a pair of twins burst through one of the closed tunnels.
"They don't like me." Flynn simply stated as the guards came out of the tunnel.
"Who's that?" Rapunzel asked looking at the guards.
"they don't like him either." Goofy said, guessing based on the looks of their faces. Suddenly you could hear this fierce neighing coming from the tunnel and a white horse wearing a palace saddle came out of the tunnel.
"Who's that?" Rapunzel asked once more.
"Let's assume that everyone in here doesn't like him." Donald said as I spotted heartless down below.
"Not everyone here doesn't like you. Some of them don't like us." I said as I summoned oathkeeper.
"Now what is that?" Rapunzel asked as she looked at my keyblade.
"We should really wait for a better time blondie!" Flynn basically shouted as Rapunzel threw her hair down and gave Flynn her pan. She then used her hair as a swinging vine, flying across the gorge. We heard chuckling behind us, and Flynn quickly used the frying pan to knock the guards out as I disabled them. After this moment, Flynn exclaimed that he had to get one of them. Soon he was fighting with the horse who disabled him. With the knife aimed at his throat, Rapunzel threw four pieces of hair that each wrapped around a part of our a pull from Rapunzel, the four of us flew down towards the dirt floor. We managed to escape the twins and I let go of her hair, falling to the ground nicely while Flynn hit one of the boards that was sticking out. The horse started to kick at one of the long boards that was holding the dam five of us ran for our lives as the dam broke open, causing the water the gush out. The five of us ran into a tunnel and were soon trapped inside with the water rushing in. Flynn kept on diving in as Rapunzel used her pan to hit the rocks. The water slowly started to rise and we just stood found out that Flynn's real name was Eugene Fitzherbert which I had to tell Sora about later. The water soon reach our heads as Rapunzel started to sing this song, causing her hair to glow. Totally freaked Flynn out before we all started to remove rocks. We soon landed in a lake, floating towards the shore where the five of us started to cough all the water out of our lungs.
"We made it." Rapunzel said as we stopped coughing.
"Her hair glows." Flynn and I stated, lifting both of our heads up.
"We're alive. I'm alive!" Rapunzel stated as she got out of the water, grabbing her frying pan.
"I didn't see that coming." Eugene said as Rapunzel started talking. he continued to freak out until Rapunzel stopped him.
"It doesn't just glow." Rapunzel said as we looked between her and Pascal.
"Why is he smiling at me?" He asked as we started to set up camp for the night. I wished Sydney was here, she would make everything more fun than it was.
"Roxas, we should go." Donald said later that night as I watched Rapunzel and Flynn by the fire. They had feelings for each other, I knew that much and it made me think about Sydney and how I wished she was here, right next to me.
"I wanna see what her hair does. We'll leave right afterwards." I told him as Rapunzel started to sing again. Her hair started to glow, healing Flynn's hand. Once she was done, he unwrapped her hair to see his hand was completely healed.
"Please don't freak out!" Rapunzel said right before Flynn screamed.
"I'm not freaking out. Are you freaking out? I'm just interested in your hair and the magical qualities it possesses. How long has it been doing that exactly?" Flynn asked in a very high pitched voice. His attempt at not freaking out loudly.
"Forever, I guess. Mother says when I was a baby. people tried to cut it. They wanted to take it for themselves. But once it's cut, it turns brown and loses its power. A gift like that, it has to be protected. That's why Mother never let me…" Rapunzel explained before she sighed. Flynn finished her explanation. I decided that was probably the best time to leave them.
"Hey guys, we're going to take off now." I told them.
"You can't leave us yet. You still have to explain what those things were and what that key thing is." Rapunzel exclaimed and I just chuckled.
"Those black things were called Heartless. they are created when a person dies. They live on emotions and come out only to create more of themselves. The key thing I had was called a keyblade. It is a weapon of the light, used to destroy Heartless and set the hearts free. Donald, Goofy and I are not from this world and are fighting a bigger cause which you guys were a small part of. Now we really need to get back to our friends who we separated from." I explained before Rapunzel got up and hugged me.
"Be safe, I wanna hear about this whole adventure next time I see you." She said as she moved back.
"I would really like to hear about this girl that is so wrapped up in that thick head of yours." Flynn said as he patted my back. I quickly grabbed Rapunzel's frying pan and hit him in the stomach, causing him to grunt in pain.
"Sure, you'll hear all about it. Goodbye, see you." I said as Donald, Goofy and I stepped into the forest.
"That girl he was talking about was Sydney, right?" Goofy asked and I just nodded, waiting for the magic to kick in so we could be in the gummi ship already.
