Enjoooooooy!
Luke tried to control his breathing as he felt the ship begin to slowly settle down on the ground. His heart pounded erratically, blood rushing in his ears, fear in the form of ice flowing through him.
I need to get ahold of myself, or I'm not going to last five seconds around Sidious, Luke thought to himself as Eius powered down the ship. He took several steadying breaths, preparing himself for the pain he knew was about to come.
"Get up," Eius said gruffly, grabbing Luke's arm and yanking him up. Luke clenched his teeth and bit back the scream that threatened to burst out of him as his broken leg was jostled around, agony rushing through his entire being. He nearly blacked out.
"Oh, it's just a little healthy pain; don't tell me you can't take it. Because if that's the case…" Eius chuckled darkly. "You won't make it through what my Master has planned for you."
"You can't tell me you have any clue what he's planning," Luke gasped out, rapidly siphoning as much pain as he could into the Force as Eius dragged him along, pausing only to wait for the ramp to lower.
"Not one. But I know it won't be pleasant."
The conversation ended there and Luke focused on trying to maintain some form of dignity, trying to overcome the agony he felt as he awkwardly limped along on his broken leg. He would not be dragged before Sidious. He would walk; broken leg or not.
Luke was surprised to find himself in a sort of secret underground hanger, having expected to be brought to a cave or something. From his visions of Eius before the merge, he probably should have at least guessed that they were hiding at some facility. Perhaps they were even still on Korriban.
Luke stiffened at the familiar laugh that suddenly echoed around the room. His breathing hitched as Eius and he came to a sudden stopped, Eius dropping to a kneeling position as Luke stood straighter, his chin set in stubborn determination.
"Master…" Eius murmured reverently. Luke's cool blue eyes sparked dangerously, but he said nothing, watching as Sidious emerged from the shadows. Luke had hoped he would never see the twisted man again, but it seemed he would not be that lucky. At least he didn't look hideously old this time.
"I see you've brought me a gift Eius," Sidious observed with a crooked grin, strider closer as his eyes studied Luke's slightly battered form. His eyes lingered on Luke's leg, and Luke knew that Sidious realized that it was broken. Still, Luke stood tall in defiance. "And a fine gift it is," Sidious chuckled.
"Master, he had a homing beacon on him. The others were following me, and I believe they know that we're here," Eius informed him, head still bowed in reverence. It disgusted Luke to see himself bowing before the Sith Lord, but he could do nothing.
Sidious' eyes flashed dangerously, but the look was gone as quickly as it had appeared and he smiled. "No matter. We weren't going to stay much longer anyway," Sidious said smoothly.
This seemed to be the first Eius had heard of this, because Luke saw his head tilt up just marginally, a sign he was surprised. Sidious continued before Eius could inquire though. "Take our…guest…to his room until we're ready to depart." Sidious' eyes flickered over Luke, and he smiled. "Make sure he's…comfortable. I'm hoping to have a pleasant conversation with him before we leave."
Eius rose from his kneeling position, grasping Luke's arm firmly before starting to drag him along. Luke stumbled at first, causing Sidious to laugh gleefully at Luke's condition as he struggled to walk on his broken leg. Each step was a fresh wave of pain; pain that caused his vision to darken and swirl, but he kept going. Eius navigated him down the dark halls of wherever they were, and Luke tried to start some form of a conversation.
"Where are we?" Luke asked, some of his pain leaking into his tone.
"That's none of your concern," Eius responded.
"I'm here; I'd say it is," Luke responded, eyeing Eius' every reaction.
"Just be quiet," Eius snapped. "You're not going to get me to warm up to you no matter how hard you try."
Luke regarded him for a moment before giving a mournful sigh. "What happened to you? One moment you're the selfless son, giving everything to save his father's life, and the next…" Luke shook his head. "Why did you let the Sith poison overcome you?"
He only served to make Eius angry, and Eius stopped, opening a door and throwing Luke inside roughly. Luke gasped, forcing himself to crawl into a sitting position against the cold stone wall, grasping his leg again. He didn't know how much more abuse the leg could take.
The door slid shut, plunging the room into darkness, and Luke thought he was alone, unable to reach out with the Force to see if he was right. However, he was grabbed by the front of the shirt and slammed against the wall, the breath knocked out of him for several seconds.
"You know nothing," Eius hissed at him, eyes flashing gold in the dark. Luke grasped at his arms to peel himself free, but Eius tossed him across the room. Luke felt himself hit the stone wall with a gasp of pain, pushing himself to his hands and knees before Eius came at him again, grabbing the back of Luke's shirt and pulling him up as he landed several quick and hard punches to Luke's stomach. Eius tossed Luke again, and Luke landed painfully on his back, gathering his voice.
"What happened to making sure I'm comfortable," Luke said sarcastically, curling up into a ball when Eius kicked him hard in the side.
"That's what I'm doing," Eius snarled.
And so Luke's agony continued.
"Are you sure about this?"
Leia shot Han a glare, and behind her, Chewbacca gave an indignant growl. The three of them were on the Millennium Falcon, ready to leave Bespin. They had just visited Lando Calrissian to make sure that the poor man was all right and didn't think he was going crazy. They had smoothed everything out not too long ago, and already they had received a call for help elsewhere.
Han put his hands up in defense before either of them could say anything. "Hey, I'm just saying; Korriban? Can't they handle two Sith's themselves?"
"Luke is in trouble, Han. They need our help. We're going; now," Leia chided him. Chewbacca agreed with a hearty 'harrumph,' folding his arms over his chest and giving Han a pointed look.
Han sighed, but had already been obliging. "I still don't think it's a good plan."
Leia scowled. "If there's enough of us there before they leave, then perhaps we can defeat the Emperor and get both of Luke back."
Han shook his head. "Having two of the kid running around is extremely confusing, I'm not going to lie."
"Well if we can get them both in the same place and figure out how to help them merge, then that won't be a problem anymore," Leia said sweetly.
Han scowled at her. "That is if both of them agree. From what Luke told us, his other half was very eager to cut him off."
Leia sighed, rubbing her temples in soothing circles. "I just…I hope that he'll be all right. Everything is such a mess…"
"Hey…" Han said softly, taking her hand in his own. He didn't continue until she was looking him in the eyes. "Luke will be all right. The kids tough and he's pulled through worse. He'll be fine Leia, I promise you that."
Leia sighed, allowing Han to give her a quick kiss on the cheek. "I do hope you're right Han…"
"Galen, come over here. You might want to see this too Mrs. Skywalker."
Galen and Padme both looked up from the couches where they had been conversing about the current state of the Republic, curious. Their curiosity quickly plummeted into worry when they saw the worried look on Juno's face.
"What is it?" Galen asked as they both came to her side. Juno clutched a holoprojector in her hand.
"It's from Ahsoka. Something's happened," Juno informed them.
"Is it Anakin? Is he all right?" Padme asked, her voice hitching up an octave for a moment. Galen gave her a sympathetic look. She'd already almost lost Anakin not too long ago. If something bad had already happened to him, she might just unravel.
"Anakin's fine, it's…well…you'll have to hear for yourself," Juno finished hastily, holding out the holoprojector for all of them to see as she replayed the message.
Ahsoka appeared before them, looking weary as she leaned forward, hands bracing her against the counter in front of her. "I'm sorry to bother you, but this is urgent. While we were investigating the most recent attack from…Anakin's son…we discovered he was still on planet. We searched the caverns for him, but in the process Luke was captured and taken off world before we could rescue him."
Padme gasped, quickly covering her mouth to stifle the sound. Galen's heart plummeted, but Ahsoka kept speaking.
"Luke was able to activate his homing beacon before he was captured, though we've lost the signal. We're almost certain that they are headed to Korriban though. We need backup. If we're lucky, we can keep them from departing Korriban. If we don't, we're back to square one. They could hide anywhere, and Luke will be lost with them. We need to make sure that they don't leave Korriban. Please come and help; Anakin thinks it's best if we have reinforcements, that way we can be assured that we'll win against Sidious. He isn't willing to gamble Luke's life. Please, hurry."
The message ended, and Galen instantly put a hand on Padme's shoulder. "Don't worry Mrs. Skywalker, they'll be all right. There's no possible way for them to get away from Luke, especially if Anakin's set on stopping them."
Padme simply nodded, appearing dazed and lost in her own thoughts.
"We should hurry," Juno said. "If we want to meet them at Korriban before Sidious leaves, we need to leave as soon as possible."
Galen nodded, standing up. "I'll go get Mara. We'll need her help too."
"Are you sure that's wise? Anakin doesn't trust her…" Juno said slowly.
"She hasn't done us wrong yet," Galen said pointedly, already headed for Mara's room. He paused by the door, continuing his conversation even as the door slid back. "And I know that she would be a great ally to have—"
He paused midway, studying the room. The vacant room. He stretched out his senses hoping that she was just in another part of the house. However, he did not have that kind of luck, and found nothing.
Mara was gone.
It was cold in Luke's cell on top of the darkness, adding up to a miserable confinement. Luke had shifted back to a sitting position against the wall, setting his leg right and finally giving it the break it needed. Eius had left not too long ago, though even in the dark Luke knew that Eius had hardly left him in a good condition.
Luke took slow, ginger breaths, figuring out where his limits were and when breathing didn't hurt him. With the back of his hand, Luke wiped at the blood trickling out of the corner of his mouth, gently dabbing at his bleeding lip as well. He could already practically feel the bruises forming all over his torso, and his head was pounding almost like his brain was trying to escape his skull. With the terrible migraine, the steady dripping sound of water somewhere was torture on his eardrums, sounding like a bomb going off with every drip. Closing his eyes, Luke tried to rest despite the pain, doing his best to put his mind elsewhere and not on his current situation.
Somehow he managed to doze, because he was startled back to consciousness when the door slid open. He sat up straighter, trying to see through the darkness.
He didn't know who had entered the room from seeing them, or by hearing them. He could tell who had come to pay him a visit because the room's temperature dropped, the room somehow becoming colder.
If only I had the Force with me, Luke thought mournfully. I wouldn't be so blind; I wouldn't feel so defenseless.
Luke had to keep himself from jumping whenever the silence was finally broken. He hadn't expected the sound to come so close.
"I was beginning to wonder when you would wander into my hands young Skywalker," Sidious hissed from right in front of Luke.
"I didn't know you missed me so much your Excellency," Luke responded coolly. He would not let Sidious get a reaction out of him, no matter what was said.
Or done.
"I see your mouth hasn't got any better boy. No matter…I'll teach you some manners while you're here." Luke could hear Sidious stand and move away. It didn't lessen the danger that seemed to crackle in the room.
"What do you really want with me your Highness?" Luke asked flatly. He'd faced this man down twice now, and he refused to give Sidious any feeling of power over him. Of course neither stand had ended well for him, and both times his father had stepped in to save him.
This time, Luke was alone.
He hadn't been expecting it, so when the room was suddenly alight with Sith Lighting and pain sang through him once again, Luke screamed, falling to the floor under Sidious' sudden assault.
The lightning disappeared as abruptly as it had appeared, and Luke sagged in relief against the cold stone floor. To his further surprise, the ground disappeared, and Luke was quick to realize the familiar sensation of being put in a Force Grip.
There was no choking involved this time though, to his slight relief. However, it seemed Sidious had decided to grace him with an answer to his question. Completely immobile, Luke listened to what Sidious was planning, doing his best to keep the dread and fear from overcoming him. He was a Jedi. He was his father's son. He would not let Sidious shake him.
"To hear you scream. To see you suffer. I lost everything because of you; and I promise you will pay for that. You will die by my hand, but not before I break you. No…you will beg for death long before I am finished with you boy. But first…"
Sidious dropped Luke before grabbing his jaw in a strong grip, forcing Luke's face upward.
"You're going to tell me everything you know."
In response, Luke took a leaf out of Han's book and spat in Sidious' face. The move earned him a fresh wave of shock therapy. When Luke's screams stopped echoing around the room, Sidious spoke once more.
"Let's try this again; what does Anakin know about Eius?" Sidious asked. Luke groaned softly. It seemed the Sidious wanted to know if he was compromised, if Anakin was aware what Sidious had been doing to his son. Possibly he was worried that Anakin would be able to take Eius out from under him if Anakin knew too much. So now it was up to Luke. If Anakin was going to save Eius' soul, Luke would need to remain silent.
"You're taking too long to answer," Sidious drawled as he electrocuted Luke once more. "I want an honest answer boy, and I've tortured enough people to know it will be the first, quickest piece of information out of your mouth."
"I'll tell you nothing!" Luke cried out, steeling his resolve. It was best to leave Sidious in the dark as to how much his father knew. Even if the cost of silence was his death.
"Do not be such a fool," Sidious hissed. "It will not end well for you."
"I've been recovering," Luke groaned out as the lightning stopped momentarily. "How would I know anything?"
Torture me until I die, I won't say anything, Luke thought fiercely.
"You're not fooling me boy. Now tell me what I want to hear!" Sidious spat. Luke screamed as another, much more intense bought of lightning struck him. This time, however, when Sidious stopped, Luke kept his jaw clenched. He wasn't going to tell Sidious anything, even if Sidious killed him; that was what he repeated to himself over and over in his head.
"I can do this all night," Sidious threatened before he continued his torture. Luke convulsed, tears of pain pricking at his eyes.
"You don't have all night," Luke gasped out, gulping in air whenever Sidious finally stopped. He grit his teeth as Sidious pulled Luke's head up by his hair to hiss in his ear.
"Once we leave this planet, I will make sure you suffer as you never have before boy."
With that, Sidious tossed him to the floor as brutally as Eius had done. Luke heard the door slide open, trying to even out his breath as Sidious apparently lingered in the doorway a few moments.
"I'm going to enjoy having you at my mercy. This is just the beginning."
