LordGhostStriker - I had to look up that music like a geek to know what you were referring to. I honestly hate writing scenes like that but it needed to be done.
Me2U2 - All this for plot and what not.
Invader Johnny - Please don't kill me. Cookie?
Everclear - Confession. I teared up at a few chapters that I written for this story.
Wow this is the most reviews I've ever had. I'm stoked. Thanks everyone. :)
It was hard to take her out of her arms it truly was. Each time he tried, he grasped her again. It happened over and over until he decided to clean her up since he refused anyone to see her in this state. He took his time there and even was afraid to break her with each movement he made. Only a few times he begged Computer to re-check her because he swore she started to breath again, but it was false hope. When he finally got done with that part of his task and dressed her, he went and laid her out on the bed. Distraught and still frightened of leaving her even though he knew she wasn't moving, he slowly moved to this living quarters still having her blood on him. He just didn't care as he requested the Computer to patch him through to Dib's house hoping that he was at least there and nervous mostly. He asked for Dib's help in the past, but this was the first time with him going to him about something that made him truly feel nauseous.
Dib was obviously in his room looking surprised to see his image pop up. "Zim... What are you doing calling me?" He sneered before his eyes narrowed to study Zim's image. "What happened to you?"
Downcast, a tear escaped his eye not caring to stop it. "I have bad news, Dib. News that I'm not..." Breaks down crying again.
Mouth opened, Dib had no clue what else to do, but gape at him and be patient. "Just take your time."
"Your sister... My wife..." Whimpers. "She uh committed suicide while I was working and uh..."
"Wha?" Looking away, Dib squeezed his eyes shut. "Did she say anything to you before?"
"She was quiet, but she is always quiet. You know her." Covering his face with his hands, he couldn't take the shame. "She left a note though. I can't make sense of it, but I want to abide by her wishes."
"Can you read me it?" Dib quietly asked.
Zim produced the note reading it out loud, but only left the part out of going back to Earth fearing Dib wanting to stop him from going there.
"Wow." Covering his face, Dib asked, "Where is she right now?"
"I cleaned her up. Placed her back on the bed. Didn't want anyone seeing her like that."
Zim really loved her to go through that effort and to call him. "Uh, I wish I can be where ever you are to ... You know. Gaz always wanted to be cremated. Didn't like the thought of being buried in the ground."
"I don't blame her." Zim agreed while silently thinking that possibly he will end up giving half the ashes to Dib when he ends up there. She did care for her brother.
"Zim?"
"Dib?"
"I really hated to tell you this, but I can see she always cared a lot about you. Also I did know that you were the one responsible for giving that blind date a nervous break down. You made her happy to not go through with that. I may not be fond of the method, but my sister was happy and that counted for me because she actually smiled." Dib offered.
"Thanks, Dib. It was the least I could do for her."
The transmissions were questionable at best. Most times very threatening as a ship from the Armada was made to leave to check it out. Things were too jumbled up. After a month, Zim fought to maintain himself in front of the Empire as he privately crumbled down behind closed doors as he still suffered from the loss of Gaz. Even Tak actually extended her condolences to him telling him she actually admired her. She was brave. Zim did appreciate it, but each Irken that came up to him to send their best to him, he had to do something to keep himself steady so he kept busy, and this latest thing kept them busy as the pulses from the unknown source were powerful at best.
Only one transmission was verbal, but the verbal was in a language no one understood before words that sounded like lyrics were going through before a planet was blasted apart. The threat was simple. Irk was next. Irk weren't the only Invaders in town.
Zim sent out a ship of some of his best with Tak insisting on being one of them. He nodded his agreement even though at the same time he didn't want her to go. It wasn't sentimentality for himself, but for another that would miss her if something were to happen. No this was Tak. She was strong, but so was Gaz. Tak was once even taken down by Dib by simply having feelings for him.
The Membranes. Something about them made two Irkens fall for them. Gaz wasn't a mystery to him on why he fell for her, but he was curious about Dib.
"Sir! We are receiving an urgent transmission."
"Put it on." Zim ordered to see Tak's face on screen with several sparks and explosions happening behind her.
"Zim! Whoever is responsible is far more stronger than we originally anticipated."
Hearing a countdown behind her, Zim hastily asked, "Do you know who they are and can you guys get out of there?"
"Negative to both. As soon as we were attacked their planet just disappeared with no readable coordinates. They sent out a large pulse and this is the first we have had an open communication." Tak breathed out. "I never known a planet to move like that. You?"
"Yes, but it was a ship like thing. Was it like that?"
"Negative. It vanished and now nothing is there anymore." Hearing the countdown nearing zero, she looked quickly to the screen. "Zim, you know what to do. I know you've been through a lot, but please do that for me at least."
"I will. Tak, it was good to see that side of you." Zim felt odd saying anything further to someone he didn't have deeper feelings for. If it was Gaz he'd be going crazy all over again.
When the transmission cut, they were informed that the ship was cut down along with everyone on board. Zim doubted himself for once as a leader.
"Zim. You can't take it hard. Even the other Tallests had their share of problems." Skoodge offered quietly.
"Red and Purple's biggest problem was me though and also loss of snacks." Zim said.
"True, but in spite of this and also... I think you are doing a fine job."
Glancing down at him, Zim smiled weakly at his friend. "I not only need to fulfill my wife's dying request, now I have another to fulfill. Time to head to Earth. Also keep a watch out on that location because we will teach them not to mess with the Empire."
