Bo spent the rest of the afternoon thinking about her date with Lauren. She was both excited and nervous about taking her out. It would be their first real outing as a couple. She wanted to impress Lauren and start making new memories with her. Memories that didn't include Tamsin or being kidnapped. She was excited to start their lives together.
On Saturday afternoon, Bo told Lauren that she had to run to her apartment and pick up her dress. She knew it was a little cheesy, but she wanted to pick Lauren up for their date. She told the blonde to be ready at 5:00 and headed out the door. Her first stop was at a florist. She picked up a beautiful bouquet of lilies and white daisies. Then she went to the apartment. Bo had the perfect dress for tonight, one that Lauren hadn't seen yet. She had gotten it recently and had been waiting for the right occasion to break it out.
Bo was usually very confident with women, but she had always gotten a little nervous around Lauren. Tonight, she was going all out. She spent nearly an hour doing her hair and getting her makeup to look just right. Her eyes were dark and smoky in a way that made her feel extra sexy. She put soft curls in her hair, and she found her favorite dangly earrings. Her little black dress was tight in all the right places, accentuating every sensual curve. It hung perfectly from one shoulder, the sheer fabric cascading down her body. It stopped mid-thigh, leaving plenty of leg visible. Completing the outfit with a pair of strappy black heels, Bo did a slow spin in front of the mirror. Her confidence had returned, and she was ready to go pick up her girlfriend. She grabbed her matching black purse and Lauren's flowers and headed out the door.
Meanwhile, across town, Lauren was having a tough time deciding what to wear. She didn't feel even a tiny bit pretty with the stupid cast on her arm. She finally decided to just go with her white dress so at least the color would match. It was strapless, and she found it much harder to get it situated with one arm than she thought it was going to be. She found a pair of heels that made her legs look even more amazing than they already did. The simple black heels made the black lace accents on the dress really pop. Once she took a look at the completed outfit, she decided it wasn't half bad. She couldn't wait to see what Bo was wearing. She always thought the brunette was sexy, but her imagination was going wild tonight.
When the doorbell rang, Lauren was confused. She didn't know who would be here on a Saturday night. Plus, Bo should be back any minute. She opened the door timidly and came face to face with the stunning brunette. Pulling the door open fully, Lauren was at a loss for words. Bo looked incredible. "Wow… Bo…" The brunette laughed softly. "You look incredible, Lauren." She leaned in, placed a soft kiss on the blonde's cheek, and handed her a gorgeous bouquet of flowers. "These are for you, my love." She followed Lauren into the kitchen and watched as she arranged the flowers in a simple vase.
Their eyes met several times over the top of the flowers, and Bo could already feel the sexual tension building. She couldn't believe how gorgeous Lauren looked tonight. She was insanely attracted to the woman prior to seeing her in this amazing dress. It had been a long time since she'd seen Lauren in heels. It seems that she had forgotten how enjoyable it was. Bo hoped that the night would end with those legs wrapped tightly around her body. Her eyes drifted higher up the dress, along irresistible curves, until she reached Lauren's perfectly toned arms. When she realized the arms had stopped moving, it was too late. She was already caught. Her eyes darted up to meet Lauren's, the smile in them telling her that there was no way to talk her way out of this. "Do I pass the inspection?" Lauren smirked at the blush creeping up Bo's neck. It appeared that she had picked the right dress for the evening. Bo closed the distance between them and placed a soft kiss on her still smiling lips. "Very much so." Their lips met again in a kiss that conveyed so much emotion between the women. Bo pulled away first, knowing that if she let herself give in to what she was feeling, they would never leave the house tonight. She took Lauren's hand in hers and headed toward the door.
Lauren spent the drive to the restaurant trying to keep her mind from wandering too much. Bo's dress showed off some serious leg while she was driving. It was hard not to notice. Lauren was trying to calm her libido since it would still be a couple of weeks before they could be intimate. Bo's body was still healing. Still, that didn't mean that Lauren couldn't think about what it would feel like to let her hands roam on the brunette's soft skin. She closed her eyes to try and regain a little control. Just then she felt Bo take her hand. Their fingers fit so perfectly together. It was as if their hands were made to find each other. It caused a smile to form on both women's faces, and they stayed that way for the rest of the short drive.
The Thai restaurant was incredible. Lauren couldn't believe that Bo had chosen this place for dinner. She was more of an Italian food kind of girl, but she must have remembered that the doctor loved good Thai cuisine. It meant a lot to her that Bo had remembered. Not only that, but she had rushed to open the car door and held the door to the restaurant as well. She was really treating Lauren to a great night out, and they'd only just had dinner. As they strolled to the car hand in hand, Bo broke the comfortable silence. "So, I thought maybe we would go dancing at this new place that opened. I didn't know if you liked to dance, but I thought it could be fun. If you want to go, I mean." She stopped talking before she became any more clumsy with her words. She looked at her girlfriend who was smiling up at her. Lauren cupped Bo's cheek and kissed her intently. Bo's hands immediately went to the blonde's waist and pulled her in closer. She would never tire of kissing this woman. It felt like a fire was ignited within her every time their lips touched. Their tongues met delicately at first, but the kiss was quickly becoming heated. Lauren stopped the kiss from going any further. So much for having any control over her libido. Looking up into the soft brown eyes she loved so much, Lauren felt totally at peace. "Thank you for tonight, Bo. I'm having a really great time. I would love to go dancing with you." She smiled as Bo leaned over and opened the car door for her. Settling into the car, Lauren tried to remember the last time she had gone dancing.
When they pulled into the packed parking lot, Lauren got a little more nervous. There were so many young, beautiful women waiting in line to get into the city's newest hot spot. She gave herself a quick pep talk in her head as Bo was walking around to open her door. "You can do this. So what if you don't look as young as them. You are awesome. And scary smart. And you are here with a beautiful woman of your very own. Be confident. You've got this." She was startled when the door opened and Bo extended her hand to help her out of the car. Their eyes met as she stood, and she felt so much love in the gaze. It was interesting to her that Bo could calm her down without even knowing it. From a science perspective, she couldn't explain it. And for once in her life, she didn't even care.
Bo offered her arm as they strolled to the door. Lauren was amazed that they had gotten right in. It seems that the bouncer was a buddy of Bo's from her security days. Walking into the club on Bo's arm, Lauren felt like a million bucks. She wasn't sure what had changed since the car, but she decided to just enjoy it. The energy in the room was electric. The women had a quick drink and headed to the dance floor. The DJ was mixing it up with a few slow songs here and there for the couples. Bo slid her hands down to Lauren's waist and pulled her in close. They swayed in time to the music, just enjoying the closeness. Lauren leaned in to Bo's neck and kissed the soft skin. She could feel Bo's pulse quicken against her lips. She had a feeling that tonight was going to be challenging. "Have I told you how amazing you look tonight? I have the hottest date in this whole club." Lauren felt the smile creep into Bo's cheeks and leaned back to look at her. The brunette was shaking her head. "Sorry, doc. I have to argue with you on that one. I believe that I actually have the hottest date in this club. By far." Lauren felt herself blush, but she knew it was dark enough that no one else would see it. "Well then, I guess we will have to agree to disagree." They shared a smile and settled back into the dance.
The tempo of the music soon shifted to a more sensual beat. Bo decided to show Lauren how much better she was feeling. She slid her leg in between the blonde's and pulled her closer. The heat on her thigh told her that Lauren was enjoying the evening every bit as much as she was. They fell easily into a rhythm with each other. Their hips grinding into one another, arms holding onto shoulders and waists. Bo could feel the fire inside her burning hot for Lauren. She leaned in toward her girlfriend and peppered her neck with kisses. When Bo stopped kissing her neck and gently sucked her earlobe, Lauren felt a new rush of heat in her core. Bo's voice brought her back to reality. "Do you wanna get out of here?" She watched as Lauren's eyes darted down to her lips and back, full of desire. She knew just what her girl was thinking, but she was going to make her wait a little longer. "I thought maybe we could take a walk. There are some really cute shops in this area. Maybe we could just enjoy the weather for a bit." She watched as Lauren tried to reel herself back in and smiled at how adorable it was. "Sure. I would love that." After the women finished their drinks, Lauren grabbed her clutch and allowed Bo to help her up. Her hand fell easily back into the crook of Bo's elbow. As they stepped out into the night, she leaned into the brunette's shoulder and smiled.
They walked a few blocks before turning around to head back to the car. The night was so clear and beautiful. Lauren couldn't remember a time that she had felt so light and happy. She was so used to her mind running wild and worrying about everything. There were always a million things on her plate. Tonight, out on the town with her beautiful girlfriend, Lauren felt completely free. She sighed happily into Bo's shoulder and leaned in even closer. The pair stopped walking and Bo looked into the bright eyes staring up at her. Lauren leaned in for a soft kiss. "I love you, Bo. This has been the most wonderful evening. Thank you for tonight." Bo pulled her in closer and kissed the tip of her nose. "Anything for my girl. I love you, Lauren. So very much."
Their lips met in a soft kiss full of emotion. Very quickly, their bodies reacted on their own, and Bo found herself pinned to the brick wall behind her. She moaned into the kiss, so turned on by Lauren's forcefulness that she couldn't hold it in. Her hands slid down Lauren's dress, pulling her in even closer against her body. Suddenly, Lauren pulled away. "I'm sorry, Bo. I, uhm, I didn't mean to attack you. It's just so hard to keep my hands to myself when you look so damn sexy." She closed her eyes and licked her lips slowly. "I know we have to wait. You need to heal. I just... Sometimes I can't control myself with you." Bo was watching every tiny movement Lauren made, the sexual tension evident in her body language.
She leaned forward and kissed Lauren softly so she would stop talking. "Lo, I have a confession to make." She took a deep breath and let her eyes meet Lauren's, the confusion written all over her face. The blonde started to take a step back, but Bo still had her arms wrapped around her waist. "It's nothing bad. Yesterday, when I went to the doctor, he said I was doing really well. So well, in fact, that he cleared me to start training at the gym again." Lauren's eyes lit up and the smile reached all the way to her eyes. "Bo! That's fantastic news! Does that mean that you're close to returning to active duty?" Bo was kind of surprised that Lauren hadn't pieced it together yet. "No. He still wants me to wait a little bit longer. But... Since I can start training again, he said I can resume other physical activities that were previously off limits..." She pulled Lauren in closer by her hips, their bodies meeting up up in ways that would be so much more delicious if they were already naked. Lauren's eyes darkened with the realization of Bo's statement. "I see..." She traced a path along the top of Bo's dress, letting her fingertip stop before it reached the cleavage she had been eyeing. "So, was tonight about getting me in bed with you? Because..."
Bo pressed her finger to Lauren's lips before she could finish her thought. "No, Lauren. Tonight was about us. I wanted to take you out and treat you like the amazing woman that you are. You deserve a fun night out without worrying about anything else. I wanted to give that to you. Now if we happen to end up in bed together by the end of the night, that would just be a bonus." The women shared a soft laugh as Bo tucked a lock of Lauren's hair behind her ear. "All joking aside though, you deserve the best in life. You should be treated like the queen that you are." She leaned in to place a soft kiss on Lauren's lips. "I love you to the moon and back." Lauren smiled up at the brunette who suddenly seemed so vulnerable. "I love you too, Bo. More than I can put into words." Bo pulled the blonde in for a long hug. When Lauren pulled away, she stopped to whisper in Bo's ear. "Let's go home, lover."

The pair barely made it ten feet through the door before Bo lifted Lauren out of her shoes and sat her on the back of the couch. She kissed her way down the side of Lauren's neck and along her collarbone as she reached around her back and pulled the zipper. Lauren felt the fabric pooling around her waist. Bo was standing between her legs, which prevented the dress from sliding any further. Bo's lips were working their way south, and Lauren let out a small gasp when she felt her nipple being taken into Bo's mouth. She arched into the contact, pressing tighter into the brunette. Her hands threaded their way into the dark hair cascading around her, and Lauren let out another soft moan. She felt like she was on sensory overload. Lauren bit her lip and nodded, turning her head as Bo attacked her neck.

This was Lauren's favorite place in the whole world. The sun was just starting to come through the windows. She was lying next to the woman she loved, her head on the brunette's shoulder. She drew lazy circles on Bo's stomach with her fingertip. She couldn't remember the last time she had been this happy. Normally she spent her Sunday mornings reading the paper and getting things organized for the week, but she had no plans to do that today. Lauren was genuinely excited to have a lazy day and just lounge around the house with her girlfriend. It had been such a long time since she had really just relaxed.
"Good morning, beautiful." Bo's voice startled Lauren. She hadn't realized Bo was awake. She smiled up at the brunette and leaned in for a kiss. "Good morning, love. How did you sleep?" Bo stretched and snuggled back into the bed, pulling Lauren's body back into her warmth. "I slept great, but I always sleep better with you in my arms." She kissed the tip of Lauren's nose, drawing a small laugh from the woman. "I'm so glad that you moved in, Bo. It's kind of nice waking up with a naked woman in my bed." Lauren slid her hand up Bo's side, stopping just short of her breast. "I could definitely get used to that." The women shared a soft kiss. Of course, nothing stays innocent between them for long. Before she even knew what was happening, Lauren was flipped onto her back and Bo was nibbling at that spot on her neck that always drove her wild. Almost A Year Later
"Can you believe it's been a year already?" Lauren smiled at the beautiful woman sitting in front of her. Bo had completely changed her life in the last twelve months. The transition may have started because of something bad, but some really great things came from it. Being with Bo made Lauren the happiest she had ever been. It was always an adventure with her. They had taken a couple of romantic weekend trips together, and Bo had opened up a whole new side of herself to Lauren. She had also pulled Lauren out of her shell a little, even getting her to go parasailing on their trip to the islands. There had been rough patches as they both healed from the trauma they had been through, but they always made sure to talk to each other about what was going on. Lauren hadn't had a nightmare in almost three months now, and Bo had finally learned to lighten up on the security sweeps of the house. She still checked the doors and windows but only once a night. She trusted the security system, and it didn't hurt that her police buddies still made sure to drive down her street on their patrols. Life was really looking up for the pair. Tonight they were enjoying each other's company with dinner at a fantastic Italian restaurant that had just opened.
"It's been an incredible year, Lauren. Just incredible." Bo reached across the table to take Lauren's hand in hers, her thumb drawing small circles out of habit. "I'm just so happy that I've gotten to share this year with you. So many things could have been different. I just can't imagine how my life would be without you in it. You make it complete." Bo closed her eyes and made herself stop talking. Sometimes when she focused on how she felt about Lauren, she got a little bit carried away. She had just never been so happy before in her life. If you had asked her a few years ago what she thought about soul mates, she would have probably laughed in your face. But now, after waking up next to her Lauren for the last year and after getting to hold her as they fell asleep, Bo was a believer. She truly felt that Lauren was her missing piece. They had found each other in this life for a reason, and she would do everything in her power to never let this woman go.
When Bo opened her eyes, Lauren had a very serious look on her face. She slid her hands down into her lap, and it looked as though she was fiddling with her napkin. Bo smiled at how very cute Lauren was when she was nervous. Wait... Why was she nervous? Suddenly, Bo was the one that was nervous. "Is everything ok, baby?" Lauren smiled deeply at the brunette and took a drink of her wine. "Of course. Uhm... I just wanted to talk to you about something. We've been together for almost a year now, and I'm very happy with where we are. You make me feel like I'm glowing all the time. I've never felt more alive than I am when I have you by my side." Lauren smiled softly at Bo and took a deep breath. "I've been thinking about taking the next step with you. I think we're ready." Bo took a deep breath and tried not to panic. She'd definitely thought about where their relationship was headed, but she didn't expect Lauren to bring it up so soon. "I want us to get a puppy!" She looked across the table at the brunette, who was sitting quietly with a confused look on her face. "Bo? Baby, say something..." Bo let out a laugh and closed her eyes. "Oh god, Lauren! A puppy sounds like a great idea! You just threw me off a little, that's all." She took the blonde's hands in hers and locked eyes with her. "I would love to get a puppy with you." She leaned over the table and let their lips meet briefly.
Lauren was quiet for a moment before she realized what had happened. "Oh Bo! Did you... You thought I was proposing, didn't you?" Bo laughed and nodded slightly. "It seemed like you might be." Lauren shook her head softly, closing her eyes. How could she have not seen how that would appear to Bo? "I'm sorry, baby. I didn't mean to make you panic. I didn't even consider what you might think I was going to say." Bo stopped her before she could go any further. "Lauren... You are an amazing woman. I would love to marry you. One day. I'm not panicking at all." She watched as the smile on Lauren's face reached all the way up to her eyes. "You want to marry me? Really?" "Absolutely. But we have time for that when we're ready. For now, let's get a puppy." The pair shared a kiss over their pasta, which had already grown cold. "What do you say we box this up and get out of here?" Lauren smiled across the table at the love of her life. "Let's go."

Lexi Lewis joined the family two weeks later. Bo talked Lauren into letting her name the tiny dog after her favorite super villain, Lex Luthor. Initially, Lauren thought she was joking. When she realized that Bo was just trying to share a little bit of her inner geek, Lauren fell even more in love with the detective. She would have assumed that Bo would go with a superhero given her profession, but she secretly loved the brunette's choice. Plus, the little fur ball seemed to like the name Lexi. Who was she to argue with the dog? The little German Shepard fit right into their little family. Lauren had been amused at how much research Bo had done to find the right dog for them. Lexi would be a loving, loyal dog who would go to any length to protect her people. Once she went through her training, she would be the perfect watchdog. Lauren had opened up to Bo that she had never had a dog before. Bo had helped Lauren to be an authority figure so Lexi would obey. Together, they got her potty trained, taught her to sit and speak, and got her used to sleeping on the super soft bed they found for her at a shop down the street. Lauren loved to spoil her with toys and treats, and Bo loved watching her try to decide which all natural treat would be better for Lexi's system.
Watching Lauren with their new addition, Bo realized that she wanted to have a family some day. She hadn't ever given it much thought before, but now she was looking at things in a new light. They made a great team. For the first time in a long time, Bo was really looking forward to all of the possibilities that lie before her. She had never been so happy. Lauren walked over to the couch and sat down next to the brunette. They shared a soft kiss and snuggled in for a movie. With her beautiful girlfriend in her arms, Bo thought Saturday night had never been better.
