The next thing Doppler knew, he was being yanked out of sleep by two sets of arms. He opened his eyes and wished he didn't. The pirates were in the hideout. Before he could even think about hiding Amelia, his arms were tied behind his back. He had to stay calm. Maybe if they didn't know that Amelia was in the cave, she could escape and alert Jim.

But of course, that was a daft thought. Even if Silver didn't have that bloody cyborg eye, there was absolutely no way she could escape without making noise. She may have been a Felinid, but her injuries were too much.

They found her within minutes. And treated her with the same carelessness they had shown him. Too surprised at first, she looked wildly around her. Her eyes met Doppler's, and all he could see was pain. If they didn't stop, who knew what further injuries they would cause to her. Not to mention the babies.

"Let her go!"

"I don't exactly think I can do that, Doctor," a dark voice replied. Silver emerged from the shadows and chuckled. "Wouldn't want her running off, now would we?"

"Doctor! Shut up!"

"Can't you see she's hurt?!" Doppler shouted back, ignoring Amelia. He would worry about the consequences of that later. Right now his heart pounded in his ears and he felt his temperature rising. He had to help her.

"Doppler, no—"

"She couldn't run even if she wanted to, the injuries she sustained from the crash—"

"Delbert!"

"My, my, aren't we fightin' like an old married c—," Silver began, but stopped. A slow grin spread across his face.

Doppler swallowed in an attempt to get rid of the dry feeling of fear in his throat. IT seems as if the crew hadn't known before. Perhaps you are overthinking, it isn't as if they know about the children…

Amelia inhaled sharply and doubled over as much as the ropes around her would allow. Instinctively, Doppler's gaze immediately fixated on her. His eyes swept over her body, looking for any signs of distress. No blood…well, no more than there had been before. That was a good sign, he supposed.

"Amelia?"

"It's…fine…," she replied. "Just…p…" Her eyes widened and she stopped herself from revealing their secret. "Prior injuries."

But Silver was clever. "Well, of all the sights! Lads, it seems as if our Brave Captain and the Good Doctor got themselves in tha family way!" This sent the former Legacy Crew into near hysterics, cook included. "If I'd'a known you were opening your legs for anyone who asked, why, we would 'ave all been in line ages ago! And I dare say, it would 'ave been a much more tolerable voyage!" More laughter and cheers of agreement filled the shelter.

The anger bubbling up in Doppler's heart while the pirates laughed now spilled over. They were insulting her honor. That was unforgivable. "Now see here-!"

But Amelia was already way ahead of him. "Then I suppose all of you would have still been out of luck. You see, I only associate myself in that way with those who have maximum IQs larger than their expected life spans."

Silence. Doppler's eyes widened. He was torn between congratulating her on her wit and being absolutely terrified. After all, she had just insulted a pirate!

Unfortunately, he didn't have time to decide his reaction. Silver knelt onto his organic knee and took Amelia's jaw in his cyborg hand. "Now you listen here, Captain." The malice in his voice, especially on that word, was not unnoticed. "You aren't exactly in a position to be insulting me. Neither is your litter. So I suggest, for all your sakes, you keep quiet. Savvy?"

Amelia did not answer him. Not with words at least. Instead, she hissed and spat at Silver's face. The crew laughed, the sport of seeing the two Captains fight amused them to no end.

Silver did not find it so amusing. He threw her aside and changed his articulated hand into a pistol. "Ah, Captain, you've made quite the mistake. Ya see, I only need Mister Hawkins to get the treasure. You, on the other hand, are quite expendable." To add weight to his words, he cocked the gun.

"No!" Before he could stop himself, Doppler struggled away from the pirates holding him back and launched himself, snarling, at Silver. The pirate captain toppled over, absolutely caught off guard by the unexpected force. The gun fired uselessly at the ceiling, sending the pirates into an uproar.

Of course, there was only so much Doppler could do with his hands tied behind his back. The pirates quickly yanked him off of Silver, and he could only gnash his teeth at them. They tossed him back by Amelia.

"Tie up their mouths!" Silver ordered. The crew was all too happy to oblige. "Mister Hawkins should be back with the map any time now. With or without Mister Scroop."

Doppler's eyes widened and he looked at Amelia, who had the same expression. Of course the pirates wouldn't have left the ship unguarded! And they sent Jim up there practically alone!

"And I think it's only fitting we give him a nice welcome, don't you think?" Silver added. The crew murmured in agreement. "Take 'em into the shadows over there. And make sure they keep quiet."

With that, they were dragged to a dark corner of the shelter. Where they waited. In absolute silence, save for the occasional cough or shifting movement. All Doppler could focus on was his own heartbeat. That and the sound of Amelia's breathing. As long as she was still breathing they were okay. They were going to be okay.

A half hour passed uneventfully. Then, from the rumblings of the inner workings of the planet, they heard Jim and BEN's voices. Quickly, the pirates dragged Doppler and Amelia further into the shadows with a warning "not to pull any stunts" or "they were all doomed."

So all Doppler could do was watch in horror as the porthole opened and Jim climbed out. The teenager ran towards his cloak, which Silver had draped over himself.

"Doc! Doc, Wake up, I've got the map!"

Silver's cyborg arm reached out of the shadows and took the golden sphere. "Fine work, Jimbo. Fine work indeed."

The pirates dragged them out into the light. Apparently, despite the fact that Doppler had been the one to attack them, they felt it necessary to wrap Amelia in a tight across-the-chest- hold, while Doppler only got a hand on the back of his neck. The remaining pirates surrounded Jim and Morph. "Thanks for showing us the way in boy!" one of them taunted as Jim bolted for the door.

In an instant, they were on him. Doppler felt the hand tighten, keeping him indisposed. Morph bore its teeth—as shape-shifters were prone to do when one of their own was threatened—and bit Meltdown. However, a swift stop had the pink blob retreating back into Jim's pocket as quickly as it had appeared.

"Not the face!" he heard BEN exclaim as a pirate held a knife to his throat. But that wasn't important right now. Doppler instead focused on Silver advancing menacingly toward Jim, map in hand.

"Just like me, Jimbo. You hates to lose." He smirked and gave the map a twist. Doppler glanced over at Amelia as Silver sifted through his different cybernetic tools, all unsuccessful in their goal. She looked afraid. He wanted nothing more to comfort her, to at least put a hand on her shoulder. No use, the pirates had them held too tightly to even breathe.

After a string of frustrated curses and mumblings, Silver thrust the map at Jim. "Open it."

Jim stared back at Silver. Between Sarah and the boy's father, Doppler knew Silver wasn't going to get him to do anything he didn't want to do.

Silver knew this, of course. It would have been impossible to have been in charge of Jim for as long as he had and not picked up on it. He glared at Jim, cyborg eye red with anger. His arm whirred into a single shot pistol. "I'd get busy." He aimed it for Amelia.

Doppler's eyes widened. He wouldn't. Not even Silver could be that cruel. Nevertheless, his mind quickly formulated a worst-case scenario. If Jim refused, that would give him enough time to dive between Amelia and the bullet. He nodded urgently at Jim. He's being serious. Open the map.

He looked at Amelia. She was shaking her head. Blast it all, now he was shaking his head too!

Silver cocked his pistol. He was getting impatient.

With a few clicks and twists, Jim opened the map. Blue and yellow light sprung out from the crevices. It swirled around the room and, to Doppler's surprise, did not form into the map they were used to seeing. Instead, the light formed a green miniature of Treasure Planet itself. The crew gasped and Doppler had to admit that, despite having witnessed the map's workings many times, he was still amazed.

Suddenly, just as quickly as it had formed, the miniature dissolved and formed a pulsating line. It stretched out of the hideaway and curved sharply out of sight.

"Amazing…," Doppler murmured. "It must have some sort of tracking mechanism…" Astounding, to say the least. Even if it was the work of pirates.

Silver ambled to the mouth of the hut. He looked out. "Tie 'im up. And throw him with the others."

Instantly, the light was gone. "If you want the map, you have to take me too."

"Bargaining with pirates…," Amelia snarled, only to be met with a sharp tug at her bonds and a grimace.

Silver looked back at them and chuckled. Doppler swallowed. Now they were in for it.

"We'll take 'em all."
