Pinkie had been staying with Fluttershy for four months before Fluttershy revealed her true intentions. Pinkie was helping her feed Fluttershy's chickens in the chilled morning air. Pinkie was showing obvious signs of her pregnancy both in her abdomen and in her morning sickness. She liked to spend time outside because it didn't matter where she had her morning sickness (as long as it wasn't on an animal or in one of their homes) and the Autumn air feel refreshing on her sweaty coat afterwords. Now Fluttershy stared at her belly which Pinkie noticed.
"Fluttershy, are you alright?" Pinkie asked cautiously, looking at her friend with concern.
"What? Oh, I'm fine, really. I just..." She trailed of and began blushing.
"You just what?" Pinkie came closer to her friend and cocked her head down to find and look at Fluttershy's face, which was now hidden in her mane.
"It's nothing." Fluttershy said finally and ran back into her house without so much as a glance backwards.
"Fluttershy!" Pinkie called after her but Fluttershy had already shut the door behind herself "What was that all about?" Pinkie wondered, unsure what to do and slightly nervous about Fluttershy's unusual behavior. But the ringing clock tower in the center of town told Pinkie she was late to meet Applejack for lunch and discussion.
Little did Pinkie know that Fluttershy was watching from her window. "Oh Angel," she sighed to her little bunny who was braiding her tail "How am I ever going to tell her?" The rabbit hopped in front of Fluttershy and mimed something while tittering in the voice of his natural tongue. "Yes, I know I have to tell her before the filly comes, but I still have a long while before that happens." Angel sighed, shook his head, and went back to braiding. Fluttershy did have some time though, right?
"Howdy Pinkie." Applejack greeted as she gently shook an apple tree.
"Hi AJ, shouldn't you not be working?" Pinkie asked as she trotted up to Applejack's side.
"I know, but I'm so restless and this can't be too bad for the little filly, right?" Applejack reasoned as she shook the last of the apples from the branches above. "But it sure is a lot slower than bucking." She noted looking at the sad amount she had completed in such a long amount of time.
"Looks like you could use a break anyways." Pinkie pointed out as Applejack sat down breathless suddenly.
"I swear Pinkie, it feels like more than just one rattling around in there." Applejack nodded towards her more than swollen belly as she caught her breathe.
"Listen, something weird happened with Fluttershy before I came over." Pinkie sat beside Applejack and told her what had happened.
"That is a little strange." Applejack agreed when Pinkie had finished. They were now trotting towards town to have lunch at the Cafe. "Did you talk to her about it?"
"No, not yet. I don't know if I want to though; it might make things uncomfortable and I don't want my little pony in grow up in that kind of atmosphere." Pinkie sighed.
"Still, you better deal with it before it becomes a really problem." Applejack noted before they ordered.
"Speaking of clearing the air," Pinkie transitioned when the waiter left. "I'm sorry for what I said to Rainbow and I apologized to her but I never apologized to you."
"Pinkie, I'm the one who should be apologizing; I said such horrible things to you..." Applejack remembered the hurtful hate she had spat at her friend that now sat across from her.
"AJ, you were only saying those things to defend your wife. I see that now. A marriage is the union of two ponies and if you hurt one, you hurt the other. I never had that with Cheese, but now that I'm away from it, I can see love more clearly and understand it better. Do you get what I mean?" Applejack was speechless and a little confused.
"Not really." She admitted.
"Well, hopefully you never will." Pinkie noted as their food arrived. They ate and drank as the sun was shining high above them with only a few clouds in the sky. "Rainbow really out did herself on the weather today." Pinkie nodded as they walked back to Fluttershy's.
"Yeah, she planned it but the other Pegasus carried it out. Every pony is telling her to rest and she isn't having it as you can imagine." Applejack chuckled to herself.
"So what is she-" But Pinkie didn't get to finish her thought when she saw who was visiting Fluttershy. "Discord?" She and Applejack wondered aloud. Ever since Twilight defeated Tirek, the Mane Six fully believed in Discord's change of heart and rehabilitation. So Applejack and Pinkie were both happy to see he was visiting, but tried to sneak up on the two friends to surprise them.
"I don't know what I should do, Discord." Fluttershy confided to her friend as the other to crept.
"Fluttershy, I know we're friends and all, but this isn't really my business of who you love and how you tell them." Discord growled back at her a little too harshly.
"Discord, I know you're still upset about my not wishing to date you." Fluttershy blushed which stopped the two pregnant mares in their tracks. What? Discord had tried to court Fluttershy? But she had never even breathed a word of it to any pony! "But this is important to me, and if you're really my friend, then you'll help me. No matter what happened in the past; it's in the past, Discord. Let it go." Fluttershy spoke softly but her words were harsh and hard to listen to. Every pony was silent for a long time.
"Alright." Discord said finally "I'll help you but only because I want you to be happy." He stated trying to ignore Fluttershy's tight hug but melting under her pressure and hugging her back anyways. "So," Discord disappeared into a puff of pink smoke and reappeared with a Pinkie Pie wig mane and tail. "Pretend I'm Pinkie Pie, what would you say?" He asked as the real Pinkie Pie went even pinker and Applejack's jaw dropped. How was it possible? Fluttershy having a crush on Pinkie? The two friends in the background wondered as Fluttershy gulped and began.
"Um, hell-hello Pinkie, I was just wondering if I could tell you something." Fluttershy spluttered as the real Pinkie crept even closer.
"Oh, you can tell me anything, Flutters Darling." Discord said in a high pitched voice that sounded more like Rarity than Pinkie.
"Discord, be serious." Fluttershy requested with a pout as Pinkie stood in the last screen of bushes before she would be seen.
"Fine." He cleared his throat and tried again. "What's up?" It was a dead ringer for Pinkie, even the real Pinkie looked to see if any clones were still around.
"I have just been feeling for awhile that um, I may have an accumulated slight feelings for you in recent months and the whole reason I wanted you to stay was so that I could be close to you and see you everyday and be able to give you the love and attention that you have always deserved be never received." Pinkie stepped out of the scenery into the open. Discord noticed this, but didn't show Fluttershy any sign of knowing the love of her life was trotting up behind at the same time she was pouring her heart and soul out to her practice coach. "I know it's unlikely that you like me back because you were suppose to get married recently, but I just am sick of ponies not loving you the way that I do and not showing it." Pinkie was directionally behind her now but no pony said anything as Fluttershy went on. "You mean everything to me Pinkie, I just thought you should know." Fluttershy ended then looked up at Discord for approval. "How was that?" She asked with a slight smile.
"Hmm, I don't know." Discord sighed as he removed the wigs. "What do you think Pinkie Pie?" Fluttershy's eyes grew wide with fear and tears as she wiped around to see Pinkie standing there with tears in her own eyes.
"Did you really mean that?" Pinkie asked taking an uncertain step forward as Fluttershy took one back. Fluttershy squeaked then nodded with her eyes squeezed shut, blushing hard as tears ran down her cheeks. Applejack came to stand beside Discord as Pinkie spoke. "I'm shocked you feel this way, to be honest," Fluttershy tried to fly away but Discord snapped his fingers and her wings disappeared in a puff of smoke. "But I'm also very happy and flattered." Pinkie continued while Fluttershy glared at Discord over her shoulder. "Fluttershy, I don't know if I like you that way, yet." Fluttershy turned back to Pinkie in stupor to see if she had heard right. "But," Pinkie placed a hove on Pinkie's shoulder "I'm willing to try if you are." She blushed softly as did Fluttershy. It was slow motion as a smile spread across Fluttershy's face as she nodded before hugging Pinkie excitedly.
"Oh yes, I'm willing to give it a try." Fluttershy smiled broadly as Discord gave her back her wings and handed a tissue to Applejack who had tears of joy leaking from the corners of her eyes.
