Chapter four

A grand tour

Brian gazed around the Warren in awe; it was unlike anything he had ever seen before.

"This place it's amazing," he gasped.

"I know," Bunny chuckled then added, "let me give you a tour."

Bunny took the younger pooka around then entire warren, showing him everything, the flowers that made his eggs, the stone egg sentinels, the Easter tunnels and the river in the middle of the Warren.

For now the river was free of paint so the two pookas set down by its edge and dipped their foot-paws into the warm water.

"So what do you think?" Bunnymund asked, "pretty cool place I got here wouldn't you say?"

Brian nodded, "Yeah its cool," he said then added, "Bunny if this Man in the Moon guy did bring me back then why do you think he chose to? I've never done anything noteworthy so why bother?"

"You saved a child from a fire didn't you?"

"But if our race is gone then she died anyway, so like I said, why me?"

Bunnymund was silent for a moment before answering.

"I don't know," he confessed, "I don't know why he chose any of us. I know he wants us to look after kids and all that but as to why us... I haven't a clue."

The other pooka looked down sorrowfully.

"So I'll never know where I fit in."

"Of cause you will but first I think you need to find your centre."

Brian stared at him in bewilderment, "My centre? You mean who I am deep down? How do I find that out?"

"I can't tell you," the Guardian of hope replied, "Nobody ever finds it out in the same way. I found mine out though pain, Jack found his by helping a kid in need. It's never the same way, not really."

"What if I don't find it?"

"You will," the older pooka said with a smile then added, "come on I'll show you my house."

...

Brian pushed the front door to Bunny's house open and stepped inside. The inside was wooden and had a very clean feel about it. Brian stood in the hallway, to his left was the stairs and on his right was a living-room; a litter further down was an indoor garden, at the end of the hallway was then dining-room and then the kitchen.

"Like it?" Bunnymund asked, stepping into the house.

Brian nodded then when into the living-room. It was plain enough, two chairs at the door's end of the room, another at the far end, a sofa, a few painting of Australia hung about the walls and last but not least a large TV at the left side of the far end.

"Wow," exclaimed the teen, "you like movies? What kind do you like?"

"Err...well I like Gladiator and The Lord of the Rings, and others of that kind," Bunny replied, due to his manly pride he decided it best he kept it a secret that he also liked Bambi.

"So what's upstairs?" the other pooka enquired and walked back into the hall.

Bunny gestured for him to follow him up and find out.

Upstairs consisted of five rooms, Bunny's bed-room, a toilet room plus a bathroom, a room where Bunny could go to pain and relax, and a guest room.

"This can be your room for the time being," Bunnymund said taking Brian into the Guest bedroom.

"Thanks," the other replied before having a look around. The room had a few painting in it, a chest of draws and a bed. The bed was covered with a snowflake duvet.

"Oh that's Jacks," Bunnymund explained, "he stays over here sometimes."

Brian walked over to the bed and set down on it, it was comfortable. Noticing a book on the pillow the young pooka picked it up and looked at the cover. The cover showed a photo of a well dressed lady and read, The essential guide to beautiful women, Brian's eyes widened in surprise.

"Err...that's Jack's too," Bunny reassured him and snatched the book then tossed it behind him.

"Good read?" The pooka teen asked dryly.

"I wouldn't know, I've never read it."

The other raised an eyebrow.

"I haven't, I swear," Bunny said then changed the subject by asking, "You eat anything to eat?"

Brian nodded.

"Okay I'll whip something up," the Easter Guardian said and made for the door.

"Bunny, one last thing," Brian said.

"Yes?"

"Who do you thing started the fire in my village and killed my family?"

Bunnymund hesitated before answering, "I'll get back to you on that one, "and with that he left the room, as did an unnoticed cloud of black sand.

...

The black sand made its way carefully back to Pitch's lair and once there, told him all it had heard.

"So Bunny hasn't told the pooka brat about me yet," Pitch sneered, a plan forming in his dark mind, "Well I'll make him rule that mistake. I think it's time I met this new rodent for myself, and told him what happened to his poor little village...and family," With that Pitch let out a cruel laugh.
