Chapter 2

Amy POV

Finally the weekend is here and things are looking up. Ricky made us dinner reservations at one of the hottest new restaurants in town. I dropped John off at my mother's house to spend the night with Robbie. I bought a new dress at Neiman Marcus. It's a ML Monique Lhuillier One-Shoulder Shirred Tulle Cocktail Dress. I'm heading over to the restaurant now. I'm really excited because it has been a long time since Ricky and I have had some alone time. I get to the restaurant and Ricky isn't here yet. I wait and wait and he never shows. I try calling him and it goes straight to voicemail. I decide to go to the bar across the street, no sense in wasting the whole night.

After I finish my drink the bartender brings me another.

I say, "I didn't order this. I was just about to leave."

He replies "That was sent over by a gentlemen."

I ask, "Who?"

He replies, "He is standing right behind you."

I turn and hear, "Hello Beautiful."

I reply, "Hey Jay, What are you doing here?"

The bartender says, "Well he is the owner of the bar."

I say, "Well isn't that my luck."

Jay takes a seat next to me and says, "You look stunning, where are you heading this evening?"

I reply, "Home alone, Ricky stood me up again."

He says, "If I was your man, you would never eat dinner alone."

I finish my second drink and say, "Nice try."

Jay cues the bartender to bring us another round.

I say, "No, you don't have to buy me another drink."

Jay says, "Don't worry, I know the owner."

We both laugh.

Jay asks, "Why does Ricky keep standing you up?"

I reply, "Because he cares more about his job than John and me."

Jay asks, "What does he do? Does he still work at that butcher shop?"

I say, "No, he started his own wealth management firm."

Jay says, "Are you talking about Underwood Wealth Management? I actually heard really good things about it. Maybe I will bring some of my investments there."

I say, "Great, more hours for Ricky."

Jay says, "That's fine with me, he can work and I can play with his hot wife."

We both laugh.

He asks, "Do you want another round?"

I reply, "Why not?"

We continue our conversation throughout the night. I'm getting ready to leave and he walks me to the cab and before I get in. He reaches across me and opens the door and his arm is blocking the door. I turn to look at him and he quickly kisses me. As I'm pulling away I look up at him and say, "Damn, I forgot how sexy your eyes are." He starts kissing me again.

After the kiss, he says, "Why go home? Why don't we go back to my place for some coffee and we can talk some more?"

I say, "I don't know if I should."

Jay says, "Don't worry; I will be the perfect gentleman."

I reply, "Why not, I have nothing better to do anyway."

The following morning I wake up in Jay's bed and see a note on the end table saying "Good Morning Gorgeous, I went to get us some breakfast."

I quickly call Grace.

Grace POV

It is 6 in the morning and my phone is ringing. I answer "Hi Amy. Is everything okay?"
Amy says, "Sorry to call you so early, I need your help."

I ask, "What's up?"

She says, "I need you to come pick me up please?"

I ask, "Are you okay?"

She replies, "I'm fine, I will explain when you get here."

I ask, "Where is here?"

She says, "uhhhh, I'm at Jay's house."

I exclaim, "Amy, what is going on?!"

She replies, "Please just get here."

I say, "Okay, I will be there in just a bit."

Once I pull up to Jay's, Amy is already outside waiting. She gets in the car and looks like she is a wreck.

I say, "So what's going on?"

Amy replies, "I made a huge mistake last night. Ricky stood me up for our dinner date. I went to the bar across the street and I had too much to drink. Jay was there and things got out of hand."

I ask, "What are you going to do?"

Amy starts to cry and says, "Forget this ever happened."

I say, "The truth always comes out in the end."

Amy says, "Please don't say anything to anyone!"

I reply, "I won't."

We finally get to Amy's car and she quickly thanks me and leaves. I go home take a shower and get ready. Then I decide to have a quick breakfast before heading over to Jay's office to have a talk with him. I get to the office and walk right past the receptionist into Jay's office. He isn't in there, I turn around to leave. I almost bump right into Shane.

Shane says, "Hi Grace, It's been a long time. Can I help you with something?" I say, "What are you doing here?"

He says, "I do own the company."

I reply, "I know but you moved to Texas."

He replies, "I realized I made a mistake and I came back."

I ask, "How long have you been here? Why didn't you tell me?"

He says, "I only lived in Texas for 6 months Grace. I did go to see you but Tom told me you were engaged to Jack and you were living together. I just wanted you to be happy."

I say, "Wow, I had no idea. I wish you would have told me."

He says, "It doesn't change anything, you are still married to Jack."

I reply, "No, I'm not."

He says, "I'm sorry to hear that."

I say, "It isn't your fault."

Just then Jay walks in.

I say, "Jay, we need to talk now!"

Jay says, "I take it you spoke to Amy. Grace, I don't need to hear it. We are both grown adults who are capable of making our own decisions."

I say, "She is married, don't you have a conscience?!"

He says, "What happened with Amy is our business, now if you don't mind I have a lot of work to do."

I storm off and head back home.
