Chapter 3

Ricky POV

When I got home last night Amy and John weren't here, I remembered Amy said something about John staying at her mom's to hang out with Robbie. So I guess she decided to stay as well. At least I didn't have to sleep on the couch tonight.

I know it is Saturday but I have a lot of meetings with some clients today. So I jump in the shower and get dressed for work. I grab my phone and keys then head downstairs to leave. Amy comes in and she is wearing a very sexy dress. She is glaring at me so I know I must have ticked her off.

She doesn't say a word to me, she just heads upstairs. I don't want to be late for my meeting but I'm concerned so I follow her upstairs.

I ask, "I figured you stayed at your mom's last night with John but why are you dressed up?"

She turns and says, "The fact that you don't know the answer is the problem."

I say, "I'm tired of fighting; just tell me what I did now?"

She replies, "You forgot about me again last night. I waited at the restaurant forever like an idiot but you never showed. Just be honest, are you having an affair?"

I laugh and say, "Seriously, like I would have time for one."

She cries and says, "Just go to work Ricky!"

I go over to hug her and she pushes me away.

I reply, "Please don't do this, I can text my client and move my meeting to later this evening."

She says, "Don't bother."

I leave.

Adrian POV

Brooke and I just got home from the doctor's office; my poor little girl has a double ear infection. I get upstairs and Ben is packing for his book tour while Blake is napping. I go up to Ben and say, "Do you really have to go Benny? Can't you put the book tour off for a little while? I hate it when you are away, and our baby girl is sick."

Ben replies, "Baby, you know I don't want to go but I already delayed the tour twice. It's in my contract, I have to go or my publishing company will drop me. The last thing I want to do is be away from you and the kids. It's only a couple months, and I will be back to visit every chance I get."

I pout and say, "I know but it really sucks."

He kisses me on the forehead and says, "I will be back before you know it."

Just then Blake wakes up and he starts screaming.

Ben says, "I will get him baby."

My boys come back in the room.

Ben says, "I have an idea. Let's drop the kids off at my dad's and we go out tonight, just the two of us."

I say, "But Brooke is sick."

Ben replies, "Camille and my dad can handle an ear infection. I want to take the most beautiful woman to dinner before I leave."

I smile, "Aww my Benny, okay let's do it!"

Grace POV

I can't get Shane out my head; I've never stopped loving him. I decide to call him. My heart is racing when I hear him answer.

Shane says, "Hello."

I say, "Hey Shane."

He says, "How are you?"

I say, "Good and you?"

He says, "Doing pretty good."

I ask, "Would you like to go to dinner tonight and catch up?"

He replies, "Uhh I would love to but I have a girlfriend."

I say, "Oh, okay. We could still be friends, Can't we?"

He replies, "Of course, let's go out. Let's meet at your favorite restaurant at 8."

I ask, "Oh you remember my favorite restaurant?"

He laughs and says, "Of course, that little Italian restaurant we used to go to all the time."

I say, "Sounds great, see you then."

I start frantically looking through my closet to find the perfect outfit. I fix my hair and make-up. Once I'm ready I head to the restaurant, I get there and Shane pulls out the chair for me. He smells and looks amazing.

Shane says, "You look nice tonight."

I say, "Thanks, so do you."

We order an appetizer and drinks.

I start to twirl my hair and ask, "So who are you seeing? Is it serious? How long have you been together?"

Shane laughs and says, "Wow, you didn't waste any time."

I laugh and say, "You know me."

Shane says, "Yes I do. To answer your questions, you don't know her, not really, 7 months. Did I answer all your questions in order detective?"

I say, "Yes, thank you."

He asks, "Are you seeing anyone?"

I reply, "No."

Awkward silence….

I blurt out, "How is work?"

He replies, "It's great."

I ask, "How come you didn't find me when you got back?"

He says, "It wouldn't have mattered, you were with Jack."

I say, "It would have mattered to me; I've never loved anyone like I love you."

He says, "You said love."

Just then my phone rings and it is an unfamiliar number, I say "Sorry I have to get this."

I answer, "Hello. What do you mean, I don't understand? I will be there right away."

I look up and say, "I'm so sorry, I have to go that was the hospital. Jack Od'd and I'm still listed as his emergency contact."

Shane says, "I will pay the check and we can go. I don't want you to be alone."

We get in the car and he asks, "So tell me, what happened with you and Jack?"

I reply, "He is a police officer and he was shot on the job. He was shot in the back and had lots of pain. He ended up addicted to pain pills and was drinking because of his depression. I tried to help him but he just pulled away from me."

Shane says, "I'm really sorry to hear that, Grace."

I say, "Yeah me too."

We pull up to the hospital and rush inside.

Ricky POV

I get home late from my meetings. John is asleep and Amy is in the shower. I take off my suit and shoes and get in bed. Amy gets out of the shower.

She says, "I didn't know you were home."

I say, "I've just been waiting for you."

She says, "You couldn't have been waiting too long."

I reply, "Not this fight again."

She says, "We are going keep having this fight until you understand. You barely got home and it's after 11 o'clock. Another night John didn't get to see his dad."

I groan, "It's late and I'm sorry. I'm doing the best I can."

She says, "Whatever, you need to figure this out. I'm so tired of it. I'll be back I'm going to check on John."

I hear Amy's phone go off, I see it lying on the bed. I pick it up to give it to her. There is a text from Jay, I read it because I'm curious and it says "I had fun last night, we should do it again soon!"

Just then Amy comes in.

I can't control my temper. I yell, "What the hell is going on with Jay?! You have been accusing me of cheating, yet you spent last night with Jay!"

She says, "What the hell are you talking about?!"

I say, "He just texted you about last night!"

She says, "If you would have showed up last night, it would have never happened!"

I yell, "What happened?! Did you sleep with him?!"
