Chapter 5

Amy POV

I get out of my last meeting at work; I'm the guidance counselor at the high school. I drive home and I'm surprised to see Ricky's car in the garage. I walk inside and Ricky is standing by the door in his suit with a dozen roses.

I say, "Oh wow those are beautiful."

Ricky says, "Not as beautiful as you. I wanted to say that I'm sorry about what I said last night. I would never give up on us. I understand you made a mistake and I know I'm just as much at fault as you are. I dropped John off with my parents so we can go out to dinner. We need some us time.

I give him a kiss and say, "Let me just change real quick."

Ricky says, "Oh please let me help you with that, we can be a little late for our dinner."

I giggle and say, "Damn you are so naughty, Mr. Underwood."

He kisses me passionately and picks me up to carry me up the stairs. We get upstairs and he throws me on the bed and we have heart-stopping sex.

Afterwards I say, "Baby, why don't we just order in?"

He says, "Okay babe, if that's what you want. Do you want Chinese food?"

I reply, "Yes, that sounds amazing."

Once our food gets here, we have romantic candlelit dinner.

While we are eating Ricky says, "I've missed you so much."

I smile and say, "I've missed you too baby. Thank you so much for planning this evening, I really needed it."

He says, "I'm sorry it took me this long to do it, I should have done it a lot sooner."

I reply, "I love you Ricky."

He says, "I love you too Ames."

We start to kiss and he picks me up off my chair then says, "It's time for dessert."

Grace POV

I've been studying all night and I doze off on the couch before I even finish all my work. My doorbell rings, I get up and answer my door. It's Shane with a huge bouquet of roses. My mouth drops and I say, "Oh those are so beautiful, Come in."

He steps inside and he looks kind of nervous.

He says, "Before you say anything, I broke up with Amber. I'm in love with you Grace; I've never stopped loving you. I want to be with you."

I jump into his arms and I start trembling as we kiss, it's like no time has passed at all. I look up at him and say, "I never stopped loving you either and I want be with you too."

Shane replies, "I shouldn't have taken so long to tell you how I feel."

I say, "I'm just glad you did."

I look at the time and I say, "It's getting really late. Why don't you stay here tonight?"

Shane laughs and says, "You don't have to ask me twice. I must say Grace; I am a little surprised you are trying to get me in bed already."

I laugh and reply, "Nice try."

We spend the rest of the night watching TV and cuddling.

I wake up to my fire alarm going off. I run into the kitchen to find Shane attempted to make bacon and French toast. I say, "Awe baby that was a sweet gesture but from now on leave the cooking to me please. We don't need you burning down the house."

Shane replies, "Gladly!"

We crack a few windows and decide to go out for breakfast.

A few days later….

Jack POV

I'm just getting settled back in. I was released from the hospital yesterday. I am supposed to start a new round of physical therapy today. They think it will help with all my back pain. I need to stop taking the pain meds. I really want to get back to work. I get up and shower, eat breakfast and get ready. I drive to physical therapy and I find myself paralyzed in my car. I don't want to get out. I know I need to but what if it doesn't help? What will I do then? I force myself out of the car and head into physical therapy. All the sudden I hear a familiar voice.

"Hi Jack! Long time no see, "says Kayla.

My mouth drops from shock and I reply, "Hi Kayla! What are you doing here?"

Kayla smiles and says, "It is my job to whip you back into shape."

I laugh and say, "Good luck with that. You are going to need it."

Kayla replies, "You still look good to me."

I say, "You aren't looking to bad yourself."

Kayla laughs and says, "Thanks I think?"

I respond, "You know you're gorgeous."

Then I see Kayla blush and say, "Let's get to work!"

I ask, "When did you get into physical therapy?"

Kayla replies, "Shortly after you broke my heart."

I reply, "You broke mine, remember?"

Kayla says, "Let's agree to disagree."

She starts helping me stretch. My back feels tight but I push through the pain. We get done and Kayla cheers, "Great job Jack! I know how difficult this is. You are doing great! See you back here in a couple of days."

I reply, "I look forward to it. We should go eat and catch up."

Kayla explains, "I'm married. Well, technically I'm married. We are going through a rough patch and are currently separated."

I say, "I'm sorry to hear that. Grace and my divorce was just finalized."

Kayla gets agitated and says, "I need to get back to work now. See you in a few days."

She walks away before I can get in another word.

Adrian POV

Tonight Ben missed another Skype date because he was too busy. I decide to call Amy to vent a little.

Amy says, "Hey Adrian".

I say, "Hey Amy, how are you doing?"

Amy replies, "Everything has been great, better than it has been in a really long time."

I reply, "Good, I'm so glad to hear that. I'm sad because Ben hasn't been contacting me as much lately."

Amy says, "What do you mean?"

I say, "Like we usually Skype with the kids every night and he has missed the past few nights."

Amy replies, "I'm sorry girl, I know all about being neglected for work. It sucks! At least you know Ben loves you."

I reply, "Yeah I know, but I still want to talk to him. You don't think he met another chic on the road, right?"

Amy says, "Of course not, he loves you and the kids."

I reply, "I know I'm just overreacting, but I just can't shake this crappy feeling."

I hear the doorbell ring and I tell Amy I will call her back in a little bit.

I answer the door, and my mouth drops… "OMG Antonio, I can't believe it!"

He scoops me up in his arms and twirls me around. He sets me down, my arms are still wrapped around his neck and our eyes meet.
