Chapter 4: Reveal

"Wait, so let me get this straight," Weiss began to say. "You're not from here, not even from this timeline? Do you understand how preposterous that sounds?"

It was an hour or so from the point of Yang's revival from the brink of death and I was still explaining to them who I was. I was standing up while Weiss and Blake were standing opposite to each other, Blake was near the window with V purring as he slept. Weiss seemed to be outraged as I told the information to her. Yang was sitting next to Ruby on my bed; Ruby looked awkward in this situation. I didn't blame her, realizing that she had a son in the distant future was big news. I heard stories from Yang about how childish Ruby was about adult topics in her teenage years.

"Yes, I'm telling you that I'm from the future," I explained, I was growing weary and annoyed at how they simply flat out refused that I was not from this timeline. I rubbed my eyes with the tips of my fingers as I grew weary of this.

"So, you're Ruby's son?" Yang asked, finally phasing into the conversation after a long assessment.

"Yes," I confirmed it, sighing while doing so.

"Which means that I'm your aunt?" Yang pressed on.

"Yes," I confirmed again. "You're my aunt Yang."

"Aww, looks like you did get a guy Ruby," Yang exclaimed hugging her sister tightly who flailed her arms in response.

"Yang!" Ruby hollered. "It's embarrassing!"

"Could you two take this situation more seriously!" Weiss scolded.

"Got it, Ice Queen," Yang replied.

"Yeah, I've heard that one too," I confirmed, "Mostly from Yang though."

"Hey!" Weiss exclaimed.

"So, what brings you to this timeline?" Blake asked.

"Well, most of what I already told you was true. Mom," My eyes shifted over to Ruby, who was looking extremely uncomfortable.

"Please call me Ruby, being called a mom makes me feel weird," Ruby added.

"Alright, Ruby here, is in charge of a big special ops corporation, named the Time Protection Corporation or the TPC, after time controlling dust was acquired by the Schnee Dust Company through extensive experimentation a time travelling shuttle was created, using a device to harness the new dust," I explained. "I was not a part of this excursion as I was only eight. Ruby, however, travelled to the past with three other people, one of them being Yang."

"Cool," Yang pointed out. Everybody casted a glare at her, and she shrugged her shoulders, "What? Time Travelling is cool."

"Please, continue," Blake ushered me to continue, as everybody was back paying attention to the story.

"The mission was a success, to say the least," I continued. "The team travelled to the past, when Grimm ruled the planet and before people triumphed. They harvested a fruit that was identified to be ancient and extinct before their present timeline. Everything was going well, it proved to be useful for several applications, such as research. However, when the team came back they were presented with daunting information, the simple harvest of the fruit brought about a shift in the history logs."

"Just a fruit?" Yang asked.

"Yes, it ended up killing off an entire race of mammals with canine like features," I explained. "They did end up fixing it by returning the fruit to the past but it left something that was fearful. If someone were to get their hands on it this new technology would have devastating effects."

"Like the collapse of an entire city?" Ruby asked.

"Worse, it could completely destroy the human race as we know it," I brought out the devastating truth.

Ruby gulped in response, "So, so, we could disappear at any moment?"

"Yes, which was why the TPC was created, to secure the past and make sure that it wasn't tampered with," I continued.

"That's, scary," Ruby shuddered at the thought of her disappearance. It was terrifying, knowing that you could simply cease to exist in a glimpse of a second, snuffed out by the laws of time.

Yang went over to comfort her sister with a hug. "It's okay, it's not going to happen." She cooed.

"So, what happened next?" Weiss asked.

"Well, there was one incident, in which a terrorist escaped into the past," I proceeded to tell them more information.

Ruby's eyes widened at the new information, she was shocked that a criminal had escaped from the future and was about to cause trouble in her present. "Don't worry, you and Yang handled it. It was a petty terrorist, aimed at killing several civilians and erasing them from my present. He landed too far from any major city and was apprehended."

"Soon afterwards they began to develop new technology in order to better their defence teams. My armour was the first to be created. Though heavily designed by you Ruby, it was a very effective weapon. You also created V over here, and served as the head of the TPC."

"I, I did all that?" Ruby asked.

"Yes, and you were also a great leader and mom," I complimented her.

"No, I couldn't be all that," Ruby said.

"No really, you were greatest mom, we would bake cookies together all the time," I added.

"Goes to show where you get your sweet tooth from," Yang pointed out.

"What! Sugar is amazing!" Me and Ruby said this at the same time.

"Like Mother, like Son," Yang stated.

"Yang! Don't you understand how serious this is?" Weiss scolded.

"Fine, fine, Haru, continue," Yang gave in, but I could tell that the tease was still there. Yang did have this certain way of bringing a lighter mood to any situation, in both times.

I smiled slightly, "So, what exactly brings you to this time then Haru?" Blake asked.

"A deranged mad killer named Jack," I answered plainly.

"Is he already here?" Ruby asked.

"Yes, he was the man in the red suit." I was going to explain exactly why it concerned me. But I found the words sticking in my throat. I didn't want to tell Ruby that she was supposedly killed in this time. That would make anybody go crazy. Knowing your own death date is tricky, it's your judgement day in a sense. There was an explicit reason as to why you do not know your own death date. It causes you to think in fear if you have not lived your life to the fullest.

I hoped that anyone did not sense anything wrong, I looked over at the four and they were waiting for me to continue. Blake seemed to eye me, she knew that something was wrong but decided to not press on it. I felt a slight tinge on my fingers, and I knew exactly what was up. I was beginning to run out of time.

"Haru?" Ruby called, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing, it's just, he is a very dangerous criminal and he needs to be captured as soon as possible before the whole situation escalates." I spat out quickly before taking a deep breath. "Now, do you understand why I'm here?"

"Yes, but what does that have to do with us?" Weiss asked.

"I believe he's planning to destroy Vale," I elaborated. "He has the means; you've seen the way the robots behaved. They can't be destroyed conventionally unless you hit the weak points or freeze them first."

"With that army he could destroy Vale in a second," Blake mused. "He's even worse than the White Fang."

"If he has so much power why hasn't he acted?" Yang asked.

"I don't know, my guess is that he wants to play, all of this is for mere amusement," I replied.

"Either way, we need to find him before he acts," Weiss said.

"Yes, so now do you understand why I am trying to search for him so frantically?" I asked.

"Yes," Ruby answered standing up. "And as leader of this team I say that we help."

"Yea! I'm ready to pay that guy back," Yang agreed.

"You need all the help you can get," Blake added.

"No! I will not impend your lives; do you understand how much that could affect the future?" I bellowed.

"Haru, we can help, if it means protecting the people it is our duty," Ruby began.

"No, your duty is not to this, I will not jeopardize the timeline simply for the present situation," I retaliated.

Ruby was taken back from my retaliation, I felt bad for her. She only wanted to help, but, it was for the best. I needed to stay alive for as long as I can, what with my slowly fading particles. "Hey, that wasn't nice." Yang said, casting a glare on me. "She is your mother."

Ruby tried to speak up this time, "Please, Haru, we only want to help," Ruby pleaded, giving me her big silver eyes.

"No, that is the end of this discussion, you have your answer as to who I am and why I'm here. Now, please excuse yourselves out of my room," I ordered.

Weiss took it unkindly and excited the room with a harrumph, Blake looked at me as I looked out at the four of them walking out. Yang herself took her sister out of the room, Ruby was a shaken up by the whole ordeal. I couldn't blame her, finding out that you have a son in the future was a shock. Especially if it's years from this time and you're childish like her. Also the fact that your son just yelled at you was another emotional shatter.

I sighed, before readying myself to head out again, now that the several disturbances were gone I was readying to move out on another search. Now that they knew the truth hopefully they would be inclined to stay away. I looked once more at my hands and found them fading once more but phasing back into existence.

I need to find him fast before I disappear completely, the future may not be written yet in this time but that doesn't mean it isn't predicted. I stepped out of the room to find Blake just around the corner, "Haru, can I talk to you?" She asked.

"No, Blake, I have a very important mission th-." She then cut me off, bringing out why I truly was frantic.

"You're disappearing aren't you?" She stated calmly and bluntly.

"How did you?" I began to ask her how she knew that I was disappearing. I knew that she had a hunch but I didn't expect it to be right on the dot.

"Let me see your hands," Blake came forward and grabbed my hands.

I felt my existence being shredded apart; a fraction of my body began to disappear right as Blake was holding them. I began to sweat as I held them in front of her. "Haru, how long can you last like this?" She questioned.

"About a few more days," I answered.

"So why haven't you told us about this?"

"It would only lead to more problems, I am Ruby's son. If I'm disappearing it means that she is going to die before I am born, and the only reason this anomaly occurred is because Jack escaped into the past." I explained.

Blake looked at me as I was explaining to her the full story that I didn't tell anybody else. "So, Ruby is going to die?"

"Her death is predicted, but not if I'm going to help it," I told her.

"And if you disappear?" She asked.

This statement stung in my mind, if I disappeared before bringing Jack back to the future than it would've all been for naught, everything would be destroyed and nothing would be left. "I, I don't know Blake." I said plain and simple. "I honestly don't know." I felt myself panicking, if the fate of the entire world rested on you being alive for the next few days your mind would also be like this.

"Please, Haru, let us help you, you can't do this alone," Blake said, putting her hand on my shoulder. "Ruby doesn't want to see you disappear. She cares about you too, all of us do."

I realized that I only had a few days left until it completely ripped apart my body. And, well, if I was going to disappear I needed someone to ensure that the mission was completed without casualties. But, I was still hesitant, "Haru, the future isn't set in stone. We can bring him in together and save everybody." Blake assured me once more that we would bring him in together.

I reluctantly agreed, "Fine, on one condition. You don't tell anybody this, at all."

"Deal, we'll get ready, we'll meet you at the front of the school," Blake finished before leaving to get the rest of team RWBY up.

"Why did Haru shut us out like that?" Ruby asked. She was lying on her bed looking up at the ceiling. She hadn't changed yet but was in deep thought. "And I can't believe that I had a child."

"Who would've thunk it," Yang mused as she was punching the air.

"Yes, but it is odd that he doesn't want us involved. I mean, before it made sense, he didn't want us knowing all of this information about the future," Weiss explained.

"Maybe it's me?" Ruby asked. "I know I can be a little bit silly."

"Yes, you can be you are a dolt," Weiss mused on.

"But she is your dolt," Yang replied, putting an emphasis on the word your.

"Hmm," Ruby was paying attention to any of it, lost in thought about why Haru simply outright denied their involvement. They've handled worse threats and as huntresses it is their duty to help protect the people. So why didn't Haru let them? Was it because I'm his mom?

As Ruby was thinking that Blake opened the door and greeted herself, she stated to the group that Haru had reconsidered and allowed them to work together, seeing as he still needs help around the place. Blake kept silent about the whole ordeal of Haru's slowly crippling existence, keeping her promise.

"That's great!" Ruby exclaimed, jumping off of her bed.

"That's cool, I'm itching for a thing to punch," Yang said. "It was a bit of a disappointment at first though. But I knew he'd come around."

The girls then got ready to head out yet again, Ruby loaded her pockets with fresh ammunition and so did Yang. Weiss loaded up her dust chambers and the four of them went to meet Haru outside so that they can continue searching for Jack.

But not without a bit of suspicion, Ruby was naïve like a child but she wasn't unintelligent. She knew that something was up, that something happened to make Haru change his mind. There was no possible way that he would of done it out of free will. What were you thinking Haru? I mean, it's great that you let us help you but why'd you change so fast? Is it because something happened?

Ruby stopped for a mere moment as she was lagging behind the group, the three of them turned when they noticed her pause for a brief moment. Yang tried to hurry her along, realizing that she was stuck in some kind of trance. "Come on sis! You're spacing out!" Yang said.

Ruby shook herself out of her trance and was brought back into reality. "Coming Yang!" She cheered back, masking her unusual doubt into one of cheer. She smiled brightly as she caught up with her teammates. "I can't wait to see V again."

"That thing is intriguing," Blake commented.

"I can't believe that you created an actual robotic A.I." Weiss mused on.

"Well, it can't be that hard right? I'm sure that somebody has made an A.I. before," Ruby pointed out.

"No, sis, I think that you're delusional," Yang commented.

"But we know that it's going to happen," Blake added.

"Yeah, so beat that sis," Ruby retorted.

The four of them met me at the front of the school, near the large fountain. Currently it was off as it was in the middle of the morning and the janitor had yet to turn it on. V's head was right on my lap as I petted it, I knew that it was cold steel running through my fingers, but it didn't feel like it. That was one of the features mom put in, a heart and love, he kept me company on the nights that mom had to work late.

I smiled as he purred on my lap, he turned his head and I began to scratch under his chin. He continued to purr affectionately until he twitched his tail which I noticed. I then stopped and he got up, looking around before focussing on one location. I looked that way to find the other four coming towards me.

V ran and tackled Ruby in a hug, gripping onto her shoulders lovingly as it nuzzled against her face. I walked over, "Sorry about before, I still need your help."

"Don't worry about it," Yang replied, brushing it off.

"What made you change your mind?" Weiss asked.

"I guess, I realized I was wrong, that five people were better than one," I answered.

"Good enough for me," Weiss agreed.

The three of them nodded and we began to group up as I went over to Ruby to stop V from snuggling her to death. It got up and returned to me, lowering its head to be petted as I obliged. "Well, Ruby, let's go."

"This'll be a big ol family mission," Yang teased, picking the two of us in a hug.

I didn't have time for this I could feel myself shifting slightly but I remained calm, "Yang let me go."

"Yang, we don't have time for this," Blake stated.

"Aww, fine," She set us down and I dusted myself off. Ruby herself was still feeling weird as she was reminded that I was her son.

I then set off to the drop ship to take us into the city. I was going to find Jack with their help and hopefully put a stop to this before it was too late. The five of us made our way to the drop ship, V running beside me. I looked down at my hands yet again to find my existence fading out again. We're coming for you Jack.

In an old abandoned warehouse Roman Torchwick was talking to Jack. He was a notorious criminal who had recently been working with the White Fang in a joint allied force. He was wearing his usual outfit, consisting of a white trench coat and a bowler hat which rested on top of his curved orange hair. Jack himself was not wearing his combat suit but was in a dress suit.

He was lying on a pile of crates while Roman paced back and forth, he seemed to be very angry as they were bickering with each other. Well, actually, more like Roman was extremely frustrated with him. "I don't understand why haven't we attacked yet! We could easily seize the city."

Jack took a big exaggerated breath, "Live a little candy man."

"If I didn't have orders to not kill you I would," Roman replied. "Honestly, you're a pain on my nerves."

"I doubt you could even if you tried," Jack answered, smiling.

"Why you little," Roman spat out angrily, raising his cane to fire on the lying creature.

Just then Cinder stepped in, followed by Mercury and Emerald. "Roman," She cooed, stepping forward. "Surely you're not treating our guest poorly."

"Of course not," He answered.

Cinder came forward and touched Roman's cheek, "Of course not." Was all she said, though it did not show initially Roman felt the control and power that Cinder had over him.

"So, when do we attack?" Cinder asked, turning to Jack who was on the crate.

"Why are you all in such a rush?" Jack asked, "You should take all page from pinky over here.

"Neo?" Roman asked turning around to try and find her. He didn't see her at all in the room when he was arguing with Jack but she happened to materialize on a table, sitting with her legs crossed.

"Yes?" She responded, smilingly devilishly.

"When did you?" Roman asked.

"Just now," She answered.

"Enough," Cinder cut through the conversation. "So when do you intend to attack?"

"Fine, there's a large group of civilians coming in a few days, a festival is happening, if you can recall," He replied.

"It'll be the perfect time to execute dominance." Cinder mused, agreeing to the plan. "Very well, we will prepare to strike on the festivals beginning."

"Great, now relax," He said, getting off of the crate and running off.

"Where are you going?" Roman asked; infuriated at Jack's abrupt leave.

"To have some fun," Jack replied.

"I'm coming too," Neo said, running up to Jack.

"Great, like minds, like fun," Jack commented before the two of them were off.

Roman turned to the group, infuriated, "Shouldn't he be with us to prepare?"

"Let him have his fun, come the festival he won't matter anymore," Cinder calmly replied before walking away.

"We're betraying him?" Mercury asked.

"Precisely," Cinder answered. "We'll have no use for him after he sets his robots free."

"Good, he was getting on my nerves," Roman sighed a breath of relief.

"Prepare yourselves for the festival's eve," Cinder finished, leaving the warehouse to make her own preparations. Once we've seized the city and you're out of the way, there is nothing to stop us, she thought to herself.

"So where are we going?" Neo asked, bouncing along as Jack proceeded to exit the warehouse and head into the city.

"To the center of town," Jack answered smiling. "Have a bit of fun and chaos."

"Sounds fun," Neo replied smiling a devilish smile.

"That's only the beginning, have some fun with the screaming people," Jack finished before they arrived in the center of the town.

"My pleasure," Neo answered.

Jack then dug into his pocket to bring up a pile of scrap metal, tossing them onto the ground and watching them turn into the robots that attacked the city before. These however were different, they seemed to be coloured blue instead of the usual brown. These robots weren't built as cannon fodder but more as durable units, they couldn't multiply like the other variant.

Five dozens of them marched forward into the city to cause chaos. They had free rein to damage the city as much as they pleased, to which they began to set fire to several buildings and crashed through several windows, killing civilians in the process. The cops were notified a few minutes later and began to mobilize, although they were attempting to resist, they were outnumbered by the invincibility of the army.

At one of the blockades they were managing to hold off, locating a slight weak point in the head. The leader of a squadron was dressed in a blue uniform and firing on the robots, he calculating his shots with clear precision. This took time however and most of the shots did not hit. "This is squadron three, we're proceeding to hold them off. Where are the huntresses!" He spoke into a radio communicator on his shirt.

Static buzzed through the communicator,"Bzzt, Bzzt." It answered.

"Damn it! They took down communications," The cop ordered.

"What are these things! Ah!" One of the cop in his squadron said before being pulled into the crowd of robots.

"Dear god," The leader said looking at the crowd. "Fall back!" He ordered.

He began to shout frantically into the communicator, "If there is anybody hearing this, they're weak in the head, send back up!"

The robots crashed through the blockade and advanced on the cops who ran backwards into another crowd.

We were nearing the city when we picked up a strange signal. Ruby checked her scroll and found the city in ruins, I looked at it with shock. "What happened!"

"My guess is Jack," Yang said.

The driver spoke to us as we approached the city, "I can't land," He told us. "You'll have to drop in."

"Alright, suit up," I ordered, engaging my suit. It formed around me while my helmet teleported into my hand. "Get ready, and make sure that you use Ice Dust and freeze them before destroying them. Or aim for the head," I instructed to the four of them.

"Got it," Ruby answered.

Everybody nodded in reciprocation. I took a deep breath before putting on my helmet. We dropped, flying through the air through thousands of kilometres. I knew that Jack was down there, and that it would take everything that we had to save the city and capture him. I was also concerned about Ruby, hopefully this wasn't the time that she disappeared. I couldn't check any archives as they've been completely erased due to her predicted death.

I was eager, but at the same time worried, if we didn't defeat him and failed today then I would disappear leaving Jack to take over the present. And with his advanced technology he could easily make the future his as well. It wasn't a question if I could; I needed to bring him in whilst saving Ruby from her fate in this time line. Jack, we're coming for you.
