AN: Hello everyone. Good news, I'll be able to post a new chapter (or two if the feedback gets in quick enough) everyday. Because of standardized testing, I have no homework this week, giving me plenty of time to work on Reset Button. And seeing that I have followers made my day.
Nataly SkyPot: Thanks again!
Now, onto the awkwardness of this chapter!
I never thought I would say it, but the Millennium Falcon was in perfect condition compared to the Twilight. As we flew my father delved in to a story about when Obi-Wan borrowed the hunk of junk.
"He always told me that when borrowing something you give it back the same way you found it, if not better. It was the ultimate twist of irony when he brought her back with giant dents all over the place AND a cracked windshield. Usually I would've sent his lecture back at him, but he had just lost the woman he secretly loved. A feeling I can easily relate too. She died in his arms, the same way my mother did," he sighed nostalgically, "I think Obi-Wan would've been a good father. Much better than I've been anyway. He was the closest thing I ever had to a father."
I put a hand on his shoulder and then said, "We should always remember the past, so it doesn't repeat itself. But we should also stay focused on the present, or we'll miss the chance to shape the future."
I sensed he was raising an eyebrow under the mask. "Aren't I supposed to be YOUR father?" Anakin asked incredulously.
"Yes, but for now I am altering the deal. Pray I don't alter it further," I teased.
He stared at me, dumbstruck. "I so wish I could see the look on your face right now," I said.
"No you don't," he immediately countered, "last time I looked in a mirror I passed out. It took me three weeks to regain consciousness."
"You're just being dramatic."
"No I'm not, I seriously passed out for three weeks. Ask Piett and he'll tell you all about it."
"Who's Piett?"
"Never mind."
I hid a smile, that was our first casual conversation. We went through a touchy subject, but he was pretty okay about it. Having missed it all my life made it more amazing, and I'm sure the beautiful disaster in the pilots seat agreed. Beautiful disaster, I liked the sound of that. It summarized the whole Skywalker legend.
"Luke, Luke wake up we're here."
I opened my eyes to look up at the person who was shaking me.
"What happened?" I asked groggily.
"Nothing really, you just fell asleep. I didn't want to want you up, you looked so peaceful." my father responded, the voice modifier unable to rid his voice of the giddiness from being able to do something parental.
I asked, "You ready for this?"
I sensed him smiling under the mask, "Ready as I'll ever be."
When the ramp lowered, I felt as if the anticipation was going to kill me. I told my father to stay on the ship while I sorted things out, and eventually he reluctantly agreed.
I immediately searched for Leia's presence, and found it with ease. She was in her office doing some work. When I entered she immediately looked up and exclaimed, "Luke!"
In a time faster than anyone could say 'scruffy looking nerfherder' she ran over and embraced me.
She looked up and frowned intensely. "Did something happen Luke?" Leia asked, "I haven't seen you this happy in months."
"Leia, do you remember anything about your parents? Your real parents?"
She took a moment to ponder this. "Yes," she replied, "I remember a bit about my mother. She was beautiful, but sad. I don't remember anything about my father so I'm guessing her sadness was from losing him. Why do you ask?"
"I don't remember anything about my parents. Until recently, I knew nothing about them except for my father's name."
She was obviously confused so I tried to speed things up. "The Emperor is after me," I began, "he plans to send Vader here to capture me and make me turn to the dark side."
"Why? Is it because of your Jedi powers."
"That's part of it but there's more, and it won't be easy for you to hear but you must." I took a deep breathe and prepared to share the secret that kept me up all those nights after Bespin, "Vader is my father."
She stood there silent for a few minutes before saying, "Wow, it all makes sense now. That explains everything."
That is NOT the response I'd been expecting. "It does?" I questioned.
A small smile formed on her face and she nodded, "Yes it does. It explains why you were acting so weird after Bespin, that's probably when he told you. It also explains why he didn't torture me. You two at least share one thing, respecting me."
"He didn't torture you?"
"Yep. He simply told me to act as if he'd tortured the poo out of me. When I asked why he said it was personal. So, what are you going to do now?"
"Tell you the other shocking truth. I have a sister."
"Let me guess," she said humorously, "it's me."
I smirked, "Actually it is."
"WHAT?!"
"I just found out today. Now I have to go save Vader. There's still good in him. I've felt and you've seen it. I can turn him back to the good side. I have to try."
"I wish I could come with you."
"Well that kinda stinks cuz I already turned him back."
"What!" Leia exclaimed, "Why do you always get all the fun! You could've taken me with you!"
I smiled guiltily, and she shook her head in obvious annoyance. "Well where is he now?" she asked.
"Sitting on the ship I flew here, probably bored out of his mind."
"Then what are you waiting for! Lets get a move on!"
I found myself incapable of resistance as she dragged me to the scene of a conversation I would never forget.
AN: I made Vader not torture Leia because that puts too much of a strain between the two. Do you think the next chapter would be better from Leia's POV (point of view), Anakin/Vader's POV, or should I stick with Luke's POV? Let me know!
