Chapter 6

Ben POV

I am ready to surprise Adrian for our big weekend. I have my dad watching the kids this weekend so Adrian and I can get away for a romantic weekend. She will be so excited. I booked her favorite hotel by the beach. I stopped and picked up her favorite flowers and I am driving home. I can't wait to see her and the kids.

I pull into the driveway and I see an unfamiliar truck. I walk into the house and Adrian is on the couch with a guy.

I say, "Adrian may I see you in the kitchen please?"

Adrian exclaims, "Benny you are home!"

I head into the kitchen and Adrian runs and wraps her arms around me. She leans into kiss me and I pull back. I ask, "What's going on? Who is this guy?"

Adrian says, "He's a childhood friend. We were just catching up."

I say, "This late at night, in our house and when I'm out of town."

Adrian replies, "Ben, you know I love you. Antonio and I are just catching up!"

I exclaim, "Antonio! Your ex! The guy you lost your virginity to? This is the "old friend" you are talking about."

Adrian says, "You are overreacting. He knows I am happily married with two beautiful children."

Antonio walks into the kitchen. He says, "I shouldn't have just showed up. I didn't mean to cause any problems. I will show myself out. It was good seeing you Adrian and nice to meet you Ben."

Adrian says, "You don't have to leave."

I say, "Don't leave I was just caught off guard. I am just going to head to bed. You guys can continue to catch up." I shake Antonio's hand and head upstairs to check on the kids.

Adrian POV

The following morning I wake up to Ben making me breakfast in bed. He said his dad picked up the kids and he has a special weekend for us planned. I get up and shower and get ready. When I get out I see Ben has packed a weekend bag for us.

Ben says, "I almost cancelled this weekend last night. I am still not sure how I feel about you spending all this time with Antonio."

I reply, "Ben nothing happened."

Ben exclaims, "Yeah because I got home. What if I hadn't then what would have happened?!"

I say, "Ben dang it I love you. You are pissing me off. I'm not a kid anymore. I love you and I love our life together. Nothing would have happened."

Ben asks, "If the roles were reversed and it was my ex Dylan catching up how would you have felt?"

I reply, "I would have trusted you. I always trust you."

Ben says, "I'm sorry let's drop it and have a nice weekend."

I nod my head in agreement and say, "You're right baby. Let's have a good weekend. I've missed you so much. "

Ben replies, "I've missed you too baby. Now let's get the fun started. We have a little bit before we have to leave."

He walks up and wraps his arms around me and starts kissing me passionately.

Ricky POV

Things between Amy and I have been great. We are getting along really well. We are lying in bed cuddling. I look at her and say, "Amy, we should get a pregnancy test. You are late this month. Maybe we will get lucky."

Amy responds, "Yeah I should get a test. Maybe we will get lucky!"

I kiss her on the forehead and we fall asleep. I wake in the morning and Amy is already out of bed. I go to find her and I hear her on the phone. So I quietly head in the kitchen to get coffee. While I am pouring my coffee I hear Amy say, "I might be pregnant, how the hell is that possible I never stopped taking the pill!" Just then I burned my hand. I spilled coffee all over the counter. I quickly clean it up. Then Amy walks into the kitchen. I explode, "How the hell have you been taking the pill and just lying to me!"

Amy replies, "What are you talking about Ricky?"

I say, "Don't play dumb Amy I heard everything!"

Amy responds, "I'm sorry. I didn't want to fight anymore so I did this thinking it would help us."

I exclaim, "How is lying and basing our relationship on lies going to help us!"

Amy starts to cry and says, "Please Ricky try and understand."

I say, "You don't want kids with me. So you decided to lie to me, so you get your way once again Amy."

Amy says, "I want another baby with you I just wanted your work to calm down first."

I yell, "I don't believe a damn word you say!" I storm out of the kitchen. I head upstairs to change my clothes. I start grabbing my clothes from the closet and throw them in a suitcase. Just then Amy runs in the room and says, "You can't just run away. We need to fix us."

I reply, "I've tried to fix us. You decided to build our relationship on lies."

Amy exclaims "Ricky, you're being unfair and it was one lie!"

I say, "That's how it always starts with just one lie."

Amy says, "It was a mistake. You have made mistakes too. You aren't perfect."

I exclaim, "I'm not perfect but I have always been honest with you!"

Amy is balling now and tries to grab the clothes out of the suitcase. I say, "Amy, I need time and you aren't helping."

Just then John walks in the room. He starts to cry and says, "Daddy where are you going? Please don't go Daddy. "

I say, "John daddy will be back in a few days."

John asks, "Can I go with you Daddy?"

I reply, "No buddy I work too late."

John says, "Mommy can come too."

I say, "Not this time bud."

John exclaims, "You promised you would never leave!"

I reply, "Okay buddy I'll stay."

John leaps up into my arms and gives me a big hug. I see Amy breathe a sigh of relief. I say, "Well I need to head to work. Have a good day buddy I love you."

Amy POV

Ricky has left for work and I am feeling relieved. I really thought he was going to leave me. I went to the drug store and picked up a pregnancy test. I am so scared to take it. What if I am pregnant? What if Ricky doesn't just get over this? I don't think I have ever seen him so hurt. We have had a lot of ups and downs but he looked so disappointed in me. He looked so devastated. How will I earn his trust back? I head to work.

After work I head home and decide to take the pregnancy test. I can't believe it I'm pregnant. I guess it was meant to be. I can't wait to tell Ricky, I'm so excited. I know we can work this out.

After dinner I get John ready for bed and wait for Ricky to get home. I hear his car pull in the driveway. I am so excited my heart races. He comes through the door. I say, "Hey baby, we need to talk."

Ricky agrees and says, "Yes we do. I've been thinking about this a lot and I'm not happy. You aren't happy. I'm thinking we should go our separate ways."

I cry out, "NO! What about John? You promised him."

Ricky says, "I know but this is all too much."

I reply, "I screwed up but I'm not giving up on us. Don't you dare give up on us either!"

Ricky responds with a sigh and says, "I have been fighting for us for a long time. You betrayed me more than once in a short period of time. What do you really expect, Amy?!"

I say, "Fine just walk out Ricky, we don't need you!"
