A/N) Hi guys sorry I meant to update Monday but I got caught up in family stuff. Anyway here ya go!
Have fun
The sun was blazing, a large man walked through the twisted, paved streets of south Ninjago. His narrow black eyes keeping a look out for anyone that looked like his masters new enemies. No one... he asked through the towns, but nobody seemed to give him a direct answer or directions.
Either they didn't know or...
They won't tell me...
He growled to himself as the sun beat down on his bronze forehead, this disguise was irritating him, true he was less noticeable but if those 'hero's' had gotten a good look at him it wouldn't fool them to well.
Besides his change in body height and bulk, he looked relatively the same, just a little younger. But the dark magic that enveloped him to create this form was starting bother him, irritate his skin and eyes, he wasn't sure why, maybe it was the sun. Perhaps dark magic wasn't to well underneath bright sunlight.
Another dead end.
He hissed an underworld curse and punched the nearest wall, making the brick quiver under the force.
He turned down the road to continue his search.
Those 'Heroes' MUST be found.
Or he'd pay the price...
"Hi! How are you today!? My name is Jay, very nice to meet your acquaintance!" Jay's face was stretched in an over exaggerated grin as he attempted to speak to the unknown girl. For some reason he thought if he was really friendly with this girl she would open up to his irresistible charm, or at least not suck his blood...
Besides it's been about three weeks now and she never really said anything except glared.
Needless to say the girl was not impressed. She just raised her interestingly colored eyes from the book in her hands and stared at him steadily.
Jay held his smile in place not moving his eyes from her face, he felt slight perspiration build on his neck, determine not to break eye contact... finally her calm cool stare broke through his nervously held one and he cracked, pushing himself away from her proximity.
He slunk off sulkily toward the other end of the room where his friend were watching with amused faces.
Lloyd flat out started to laugh.
Jay glared at him, half tempted to whack the pipsqueak over his irritatingly blond head, "Cut it out your greatness. It's not funny." He snapped turning his back at the green clad boy.
Lloyd ignored him and laughed again.
At this point Zane decided it was wise to step in, "Jay... what exactly did you hope to accomplish with that?"
Jay shrugged, "I don't know, I just thought maybe if I used my famous charm on her she'd became friendly or something." He flopped on the couch tiredly.
Cole chuckled lightly, "Sorry motor mouth but I think you closed her up more. Bet I could do a better job then you."
"Oh yah, pffft as if, dude have you forgotten, your the king of food and closed offishness."
"Whatever." Cole shrugged, his eyes moving towards the patients bed, they suddenly widened, "Whoa... wait? Where the heck did she just go!"
The others jumped up and began frantically looking around.
"Oh boy, not again." Kia groaned slapping his forehead.
"Come on, let's go find her... again." Lloyd sighed while standing up.
"Go on without me, I rescued her from certain death last time." Jay called after them lazily
Neither ninja heard.
"Nya!" Kai burst into the dojo just as his sister came flying towards the door and landing against the wall with a loud yelp.
"What!" She groaned propping herself up on her elbow.
Kai helped her up absently, "Lift your leg higher on that kick, and have you seen our patient? She left again."
Nya rolled her eyes at his advice, "No, why? Afraid she might kill herself or something? Her wounds are better then they were last week, she's not our prisoner Kai."
Kai nodded, "Yah I know but... something about her seems... too important to let her go just yet."
This earned him a kick in the shin.
"Ow! What the heck!?" He glared at her,
His sitter shrugged, "You guys are getting WAY to interested in this one girl. Let her go."
Kai growled, "Forget it then, I'll look somewhere else." And he stormed out.
Nya stared at the closed door and sighed. She didn't want to admit it but the attention and importance this mystery girl was receiving from all the boys, especially Jay's interest, sort of made her feel jealous. It both disgusted her and surprised her.
What did these boys see in that girl that made her seem important?
Cole wasn't sure what happened, one second he was walking around the monastery yard, the next the old oak tree blew up right next to him, sending him rolling across the lawn and slamming into the brick wall.
He lifted his head, his eyes catching a limp figure behind the tree.
What the heck...
He pushed himself off the ground and followed the figure stealthily, forgetting the splintered tree for the moment.
It was the girl.
She was heading out the back gate. Cole sucked in his breath, let her go... who cares, she'll just go back to her master and get killed and...
No, we need her, no we don't.
Yes we do.
Why?
I don't know but we do... at least I think we do. Sensei seems to agree with me.
Fine, but don't say I didn't warn you when you get into trouble.
Right...
He followed her at a fair distance despite his brains objections.
There she is.
The sun was setting now, and the young girl look small and lost as she attempted to cross the busy evening street. Nya was taller then her so the clothes she had on were baggy and bunched at the ankles and wrists.
Her slender form seemed to sway a little, not completely recovered from her wounds just yet.
Cole followed, he had a bad feeling about this.
When he followed he around a street corner he was right about that bad feeling. She had tripped and landed on her side coughing, struggling to get back up, over strain he figured.
This seemed to attract some members of a new gang that had been terrorizing Ninjago for some time now. They called themselves Black Skeletons. Cole had never actually seen them before because they never were in the same part of town, but now that he was looking at them they were just a bunch of punks in black tee's with white rib bones printed on them, their hair shaved and colored into ridicules Mohawks, piercings in all places.
Regular freaks of the street that just looked for trouble.
He could handle them.
The girl on the other hand...
One bend over with a sneer and yanked her up by her black hair, hissing something in her ear.
A flash of anger zipped through Coles heart as his silver eyes narrowed. What kind of freak would hurt an already wounded woman, not to mention a helpless wounded girl.
There were three of them and now they all decided they wanted a piece of her.
When one reached for her shirt Cole snapped.
He snuck up from behind, getting near enough to reach out and strangle them.
"Come on guys, she'll be loads of fun seein' as she's pretty well beat already. What's the matter babe, boyfriend not treating you right." The green haired one sneered with an ugly laugh.
The girl didn't answer, coughs started wracking her body, groans escaped her lips in between. Cole grabbed a stick near him on the gravely ground, with one sure sweep the thug's legs were swept out from under him and he landed with a loud yelp on the ground. Before the others realized what had happened they were kicked to the ground wheezing as a sharp whack came down on each of their heads.
"What the hell!?" The bigger one yelled, overcoming his assault and lunged for Cole, grabbing him around the neck.
Cole gagged for a second before he elbowed him in the gut and round house kicked him down.
The black hair man glared at them, his silver eyes glowing with anger, "Why don't you freaks pick up your own type." another kick to their guts and they went whimpering and staggering away, deciding one broken bitch wasn't worth facing Cole.
Pathetic.
Quickly Cole turned to see the girl bent on her knees, her arm tightly around her abdomen, coughing, as she gritted her teeth to keep the wound from hurting.
Cole shook his head and bent down on one knee to look at her, he wasn't all to sure why this girl was important, after all it was her fault that that psycho king had the eye of Neero but maybe... maybe she could do something about it, later.
"You know if you keep doing this you'll never heal." He spoke calmly, his eyes softening.
She lifted her head, pain scribbled on her face, her violet eyes almost black in the dark as she glared at him, "Just leave me here to die." She hissed.
"Why?"
This simple question seemed to catch her off guard, "Why? Because I don't want your help, your pity, your whatever... I am a shadow slave I don't belong to you... my master wants me dead and-"
"Whoa there, master? In case you forgot he tried to kill you... but I-we saved you, that gives you a chance to live... to start over. You don't have to be a shadow slave to anybody." He didn't realize it but his voice had softened to a lower key then he meant it to, "Besides, your ex-master... he was kinda cracked." He couldn't help giving her a small side smile.
Her glare softened in return, she forgot to look suspicious, or angry. His words seemed to sink in, "Not a shadow slave.. anymore... no master...?" Confusion crossed her features, "But, don't you want to make me YOUR slave?"
Cole shuddered as if the word was horror to him, "No... no. Why would you think that?"
She attempted to stand up, her legs wobbled feebly, Cole half wondered if she'd fall again, "Because, you all act as if I am suspicious and you think you can break me into following you. That annoying blue man calls me monster names all the time."
Cole bit back a laugh, "No, that's just Jay being the idiot he is and we just want to become... um, friends?"
She tilted her head confused, "What?"
"Friends, you know, when a bunch of people hang out together and help each other out, friends." It took a second to realize, she really had no idea what he was saying.
She genuinely looked as if she'd never heard the word 'friends' before... Whoa... who was this girl? What had her life been like? It seemed sort of scary now, to find out.
