AN: Hey guys! This week I don't have much going on, so I won't be struggling to throw chapters together in the middle of the night. Having more time also means the quality of my writing will be better. This chapter ties up some loose ends and starts up something new.
Sallee: The Ewoks are fun to experiment with when writing, almost as fun as the relationship between Anakin/Vader and Luke. I always try to make my endings either adorable, dramatic, or suspenseful.
Nataly SkyPot: ¡Gracias!
I don't own Star Wars!
(Anakin POV)
I found myself on Naboo, waterfalls crashing down and my hair blowing in the breeze. I heard footsteps behind me, and my head snapped around.
"Padmé!" I exclaimed, surprised to see her here.
She smiled and said, "It's nice to see you too Ani, even though it's not in the land of the living."
"I'm dead?" I questioned, very confused.
She laughed and shook her head. "Relax Anakin, you're not dead. This is just a dream that allows me to visit you. Since you broke all ties from the dark side on the Death Star now I can come here."
I took a moment to process what my beloved had just said, and then wrapped her in a tight embrace. "I don't know how I lived without you or the children Padmé," I sobbed. I'll admit I probably looked pathetic, but I was too happy to care.
Padmé returned the embrace, and then looked me in the eye. I could just lose myself in the chocolate depths of her eyes.
"You've got a galaxy to rebuild and two energetic kids to keep track of Ani. I'll see you later," she said.
I felt my eyes watering, "See you."
"Dad! Get your lazy butt out of bed! We have A LOT going on today and the LAST thing we need is to mess up Leia's schedule. She'll get pretty mad if we do."
Luke whacked me with a pillow and I fell out of bed, right on the cold hard ground. "Geez Luke! At this rate you'll have put me in ANOTHER life support suit by nighttime!" I exclaimed.
"You're fine. You only fell one and a half feet. For now, your medical report will simply say 'Seems younger than normal'"
I detangled myself from the bed covers and got up. Apparently I'd fallen asleep while talking to Luke, so he personally carried me onto a ship that took us back to the Rebel fleet.
We entered the conference room to see Leia running the show like her mother did. Whenever someone proposed something she immediately found a list of pros and cons. The part that reminded me of Padmé the most was how she always mentioned the welfare of the people. In the middle of the meeting there was the sound of a com link going off. Everyone looked around trying to find out who's com. it was and eventually all eyes were on me.
I looked at my belt to find that it was mine, and answered. "Anakin Skywalker here, who is this?"
"Code 6272 here, on the topic of defects," a feminine voice I recognized answered.
I stood up and said, "Continue with your meeting, I have to discuss the rallying of defecting Imperials."
They nodded as I left the room. When I found an empty corridor I said, "Are you in on the offer?"
"Yes, now turn on the holo projector mode so I know you're actually paying attention."
I did as told, and was met with a jaw drop.
"Pick your jaw off the floor Mara, it's unprofessional to stare," I teased.
She smirked and replied, "You're one to talk. 'Cause nothing says professional like having the look of some kinda teenage dream am I right? How'd you do it anyway?"
"That's the million credit question of the day, I guess the force did it," I answered.
"And the force is also why I burnt my toast this morning I'm guessing."
"That's the excuse I use whenever I can't think of anything. Like how the force made my son whack me with a pillow this morning," I added.
"I'd like to meet this son of yours, he sounds pretty interesting," Mara said.
"I assure you, he's full of surprises."
She laughed and then said, "Enough chit chat. Time for business. Once the Noghiri told me everything, we began finding defects. Piett said his loyalties lied with you, so he's with us. There are a bunch of other guys, but I don't remember any names."
"So we've got a good start. I'll send you my coordinates, come here with all the other defects, and say you need to see me. I'll handle the rest from there," I stated.
"Guess I'll see you then."
"See you."
The communication ended and I returned back to the conference room. "Good news everybody," I said as I walked through the door way, "a friend of mine rallied up a bunch of people who want to defect, and is bringing them here."
"That's great," Leia responded, "the more the merrier."
"Good work General Skywalker," Admiral Ackbar said.
"I haven't been a General in two decades Admiral, and if I hear anyone say 'milord' I'll scream. Do I really have a rank?" I said.
"You can't be Commander Skywalker, since that's me," Luke said, "So I guess you ARE a general."
Meh, couldn't hurt to take my old rank. The meeting went on for a while, which gave me a lot of time to think. In a few days my world had turned from horrible to wonderful. Everything was fixing itself without me trying all that hard. But it felt like there was something missing. Trouble. Trouble seemed to follow me everywhere I went, there was always a struggle going on. I got the feeling that something was about to begin. And as usual, I'd be in the center of it all…again.
They always say life isn't all about you, but life seemed to be ultimately effected by me. Many decades of events happened because someone wanted me to join them. Sometimes I wish life would find another target, for at least a week. But it never will.
Luke and I realized we weren't needed, and went back to our shared quarters (which were now prepared to fit both of us). "Who's this friend of yours, he or she sounds pretty interesting?" Luke asked.
"You'll find out soon enough," I responded truthfully, "Now, I've got a functioning digestive system and an empty stomach, AND we forgot to eat breakfast. How about we eat?"
Luke smiled and replied, "I'm starving."
And so we began to cover our pancakes with giant towers of whipped cream.
