Ichigo could still remember what Aizen had offered to him. No longer would he have to go back to the room that he had been assigned to, he could stay with Aizen. Aizen's bed was comfortable, so much more comfortable than any bed that he had slept on. Though several things troubled him. Aizen had told him he had hit his head, he didn't know if that was real or not. He didn't remember how he had gotten in bed with the man. Last thing he remembered he had went through the double doors and had woken up with Aizen in a prison cell.
None of it made sense. Actually now that he thought about it, the Aizen in the cell had also said he must have hit his head. Was him hitting his head or at least the concept of it what he needed to understand rather this was reality or not ? Ichigo knew he would need to find all the clues he could to understand what was going on.
He had gotten dressed after seeing that Aizen had already laid out a change of clothes for him. He may have kissed the guy, slept with him and seen his shirtless but he did not get ready with the guy. He had not spoken a word of anything to Aizen though. He knew he was in love with the man, but he thought that it was better to keep this a secret. Now he sat in an empty mess hall looking at a plate of food that he had not touched.
"What's wrong with ya?" The voice came out of nowhere and before Ichigo knew it Gin was sitting across from him.
What could he tell Gin? "Ya should really eat somethin. I'm sure Dr. Aizen wouldn't be ta happy if ya didn't. I know all about ya little arrangement. Ya can talk to me about anythin."
Ichigo blinked. He had not expected Gin. "I don't think you can help me with anything. I just need to think" he got out. He was being truthful to Gin, he doubted the man could help him.
"Oh come on. Ya don't know if I can or not unless ya tell me."
Ichigo shook his head. He took a drink of juice and took a bite of a piece of fruit. "Look we had a moment, you answered my questions before. Though it doesn't mean I can honestly trust you. "
"If this is a'bout your sleeping arrangement. I know all about it. Though I am a very trusty person."
Ichigo sighed. "Gin, just leave it alone. If I want to talk to you, I'll talk to you. Though until then, you can't force me to talk." That was when he got an idea. "Actually Gin, I do have a question for you. Those doors what are behind them?"
"No one knows. There has been stories of course, but no one has ever been able to open the doors. The common story ya will hear is that it is not used anymore. Then there are others that thinks Yamamoto is hidin something in there."
That made no sense. "Gin, are you sure the doors are locked?"
"You can go try them. I won't stop you."
"How do I know this isn't a trick?"
"Why would I do a thing like that?"
"Lead the way then." Ichigo got up from his seat. Gin sighed and went to lead the way to the doors.
On the way there, Ichigo had to wonder what Gin's role in all of this was. Gin who had betrayed the Soul Society with Aizen only to try to betray Aizen. Was Gin a traitor in this world too? A traitor. He was basically the same thing. He had fallen in love with the biggest traitor out there. He didn't know what was real anymore, but if the Soul Society was real then they would label him a traitor if they ever found out about how he loved Aizen.
He thought of his exchange with Aizen in the cell. Had he really saved Aizen? Had it been all a part of his plan, well with the exception of Ichigo's feelings for the man? Had Aizen really planned for his plan to fail? What if that was real? He was a traitor and he was in a cell with the man he loved. Though that man was calm as ever, it was like he had a plan in motion. If this was reality though, there was something fishy with the situation here.
He thought back to Momo. She had said her release command. What if he wasn't alone? Then there was Grimmjow. How did he fit into all of this? Had he really escaped? What was the truth and what were lies. He remembered Aizen's words from the mirror. There were no such thing as truth or lies, there was only plain hard facts. Ichigo tried to think of what he knew in the concepts of that. It was hard, not knowing what reality was true was hard.
He stopped as Gin stopped. They were in the hallway with the doors. He reached out his hand to open the door. Unlike last night the doors did not open. "See, I told ya they didn't open."
Ichigo couldn't say anything about what happened last night.
"I see now. Ya been in there before. What did ya see?"
"W…what? I was never in there."
"You're a bad liar. I swear you fall in love with the king of lies and you suck at it yourself." Ichigo blinked.
"Gin… what do you know?"
Gin touched the door and it opened when it came in contact with his hand. "I know that ya need to go in here now and do not look back."
"Won't I just keep coming back?"
"Yes. Though if ya want to live you will go now. "
"Answer my questions when I come back." Gin nodded, and pushed Ichigo into the darkness.
Ichigo blinked. He was lying on the cold hard floor of a jail cell. That had been weird. His head was supported on something. He looked up into Aizen's face. He then realized that his head was on the man's lap.
"Did you enjoy your nap?" Aizen looked amused. Ichigo sat up, his back hurt, as did his head. He didn't know how long he would be here.
"Are you the one doing this?"
Aizen looked at him confused. "Doing what? Your little mental asylum field trip?"
"Yes. I originally thought it was you before, then everything got confusing. Now it looks like it points to you again."
"We were having such a good time too. So your back to accusing me of being your enemy?"
Ichigo sighed. "No. You're not my enemy. I don't think you can ever be my enemy now. I'm trapped in a cell with you, I think we are past that. If the Soul Society really did deem me a traitor, even if I wasn't in love with you. That would somehow make you my ally. "
Ichigo thought about what had been happening at the mental asylum. "I guess things really have changed."
"Why is that, because you told me I was hot?"
Ichigo sighed, Aizen was smirking. He was enjoying this. "In the mental asylum, the two people I ended up trusting the most, well three people are you, Grimmjow and Gin."
"You do realize Gin did try to kill me. I knew he was going to. I kept him around to see how he would go about doing it though."
"Sōsuke, answer me something. How do you what is real and what is not."
Aizen looked at him. "Most illusions have a flaw" he said. His hands were running through Ichigo's spiky hair. Ichigo couldn't help but lean back into the man's hand. "You just have to know how to catch the smallest flaw. My answers don't come free, Ichigo. I want something in return."
Ichigo moved and pressed his lips against Aizen's. Aizen still was shook by Ichigo's actions. "Not like that." Aizen pulled Ichigo closer to him though. "You're going to help me. "
"With what?" Ichigo asked stupidly.
Aizen smirked. "I have a task that only you can do. That is if you truly are seriously in love with me."
Ichigo pulled away from the man. Perhaps this was the real Aizen, perhaps this was reality. Though if it was why would Aizen give him an answer. "You're not going to use me." Ichigo's brown eyes blazed. Aizen smirked at the reaction.
"Now that is the Ichigo I remember. I would like to ask you a question. Answer honestly. "
Ichigo nodded, though he was still a little upset with the stunt Aizen had just pulled.
"Would you actually betray the Soul Society? I don't mean breaking the little rules to save someone you thought was your friend. Would you actually betray them?"
Ichigo looked at Aizen. "Say we were to switch places. If you were in my place, would you betray the Soul Society?" Aizen looked like he was thinking and he kissed Ichigo.
"It all depends on what they did. I can forgive so much, they are my friends after all. "
"You're mocking me!"
"You set yourself up for that. Though would that be your reaction?"
"I don't know anymore. I don't know what reality is anymore. I don't want to openly say I would. They are my friends, well most of them all. Though how I met most of them was coming here to save Rukia. I fought almost everyone at some point or another." Ichigo laid his head on Aizen's lap again.
"Not another nap."
Ichigo had already stilled. He was gone. Aizen sighed shaking his head.
Ichigo opened his eyes. Gin was staring back at him. "Shit, why are you so close to me?"
"Welcome back."
Ichigo groaned. "Gin you owe me an explanation. "
"Sorry but that is up to ya to figure out. Do let me know when ya figure it out though. "
"You don't know do you, lying deceiving snake."
"Hey don't go callin people names. You would fall for the bastard though. I thought you had more common sense than that."
"Are you actually the real Gin?"
Gin blinked at him. "As in I don't have a doppelganger running around. Yeah."
"So, this isn't an illusion?"
"I told ya I can't tell ya. "
"Even if I guess right?"
Gin thought for a moment. "Nope. So ya won't know if ya is right or not. "
"What to tell me what is real then?"
"Nope."
"You're helpful aren't you?"
"Just get out of my office. Go make friends or somethin. "
"First answer this, Mr. Helpful. Is that door the way out of this place?"
Gin's mouth moved, but Ichigo didn't hear the answer….
