Author's Note: Hey guys! So I'm updating a little later than I expected but, ya know, I'm still trying to figure out where I'm going and all. But the good news is I think I'm finally figuring out where I'm going for the time being. So enjoy!

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto

Naruto

"Naruto, maybe for tonight, could you sleep by my side?"

She looked at me with those eyes again. The sad ones. The eyes I first saw when Sasuke left. The ones I saw when her dad left her. The ones she thought she was good at hiding, but it only made them stick out more. Sakura. The girl I loved since I was a child. How could I possibly say no?

"Anything for you, Sakura." I always told her. I will always tell her, because even if I don't love her the way I did once before, I will always love her.

I didn't want to sleep with her; I had to. She is family to me. She is my first love.

I want to sleep by Hinata's side. I don't have to. I've never had to. But I want to. Even if Sakura was my first love, I'm hoping Hinata will be my last.

I realized that I was conscious when I found myself drifting between awakeness and sleep. I found it much colder in the bed, but I was still in a state of drowsiness to be fully aware of what was going on. All I heard were steps that made their way across the room.

"Hinata." I called out with my eyes still closed. I heard her let out a sigh, "Rise and shine, Sleeping Beauty."

I opened one of my eyes to find that the Sun's light hadn't even made it through her window. "What time is it?" I asked her, letting out a yawn afterwards. "Early." was her only reply. I sat up and watched her pack weapons into a black backpack. Of course, she sported the usual collared black jacket with her black tank top, and black leggings. She sat on the edge of the bed to slip on her black combat boots. "Oi, why so much black, Hinata." She turned to look at me. "Makes it harder for the enemy to spot."

Kill mission.

She only takes kill missions.

"Oh yeah, you have that mission today. How long will you be gone?"

"Two days at the most." She didn't show any emotion. Hinata used to hate missions like that. She always refused to accept them. Especially then, I rememberbecause it was the first time I had ever heard her raise her voice, and at the Hokage, no less.

"Hinata! You can't just barge into the Hokage's office whenever you like! She's briefing other shinobi for their missions!"

The door had bursted open, revealing Hinata being followed by Shizune. Shizune held a panicked expression as Hinata swiftly walked past Sakura and I while we were being briefed. She slammed down a file she had carried in on the Hokage's desk. That was enough to stop everyone's breath, but Granny didn't even flinch.

"I refuse to accept this mission." I could tell by the sound of Hinata's voice that she was trying to keep herself calm.

"Should you barge in while I'm briefing other shinobi?" Was Granny's only response, she was trying to avoid the matter at hand. I could see Hinata's fist clench. "This is a kill mission. I refuse to kill another human being."

The Hokage let out a sigh, "I thought you would be more than capable for this mission, Hinata. You fit the requirements best. But maybe I was wrong, maybe you're still not strong enough." I was shocked by the words coming out of Granny's mouth. She was never someone to pressure people into missions they didn't want to take.

"What? I'm not strong enough? Well maybe you're right! I refuse to spill the blood of another clan member of mine! One who has a family I might add! A wife and a kid! You want me to rip his family to shreds by killing him! I refuse to kill someone who matters to someone else. Don't you ever put me on the list of killers ever again! If you even think about it, I won't hesitate to leave the village."

I remember being even more shocked. I had never seen Hinata raise her voice. She always followed orders to the very last detail. Her cheeks were slightly flushed from the yelling. I imagined she probably thought she didn't have it in her either.

"Understood." Was all Granny Tsunade said before turning back to us to continue briefing us about a couple of bandits we had to catch; completely ignoring Hinata again. I watched Hinata leave the room before Sakura elbowed me in the ribs for me to pay attention.

"How's your health? Should you be going on missions?" I quickly asked her. Anything to try and change her mind, although a part of me knew it was useless.

"I've been on plenty of missions. I'll be fine."

"Why?"

She looked at me this time. "Why what?"

"Why do you only take kill missions?" The question sort of came out on it's own, but I allowed it to roll off my tongue because of the curiosity.

"That's for me to know, and for you to never find out." She stood from where she sat on the bed. She didn't even spare me a glance.

"Just tell me!" I yelled out at her. All her ominous responses were really starting to tick me off.

"What makes you think that I'm going to tell you? Because we had sex? Big deal, that doesn't change anything!" She retaliated, but she didn't stop there, "Why don't you go ask Sakura?! She's always kissing the Hokage's ass, I'm sure she knows every single mission I've ever done!"

"Why do you always do that?!" I yelled back as she opened the door to leave. She slammed it shut again before turning back to me, "Do what, Naruto?!"

"You always do that! You're always downsizing Sakura! You keep acting like Sakura's some big bad evil bitch! She hasn't done anything to you! Why are you always so jealous?! I only love you! Why is it so hard for you to get over the past?"

I saw how she gripped the strap of the backpack, she had slung over one shoulder, tighter. "I'm not jealous. I'm not some tween who cares enough to be jealous. Stop throwing that bullshit at me. You don't love me, and we both know it. So do me a favor, and while I'm gone, and you're fucking Sakura, why don't you ask her about why I do what I do."

That silenced me, and I watched her reopen the door before walking out. She muttered, "Lock the door before you leave." and never looked back. I let out a sigh before letting my back hit the mattress again. There was no way I could fall back asleep now.

I fucked up again.

It wasn't until noon that I had to force myself out of Hinata's apartment. The environment wasn't getting my mind off of the fight. Especially since everything in this environment was Hinata's. I certainly couldn't go to Sakura's either. So I just avoided my home, and decided to get some breakfast. I figured I should get my mind off of everything since it felt like I was being sucked into some twisted chick flick. Should I go to Sasuke? Nah, he was probably hanging out with Suigetsu and Karin (a.k.a. his minions). Ever since they got to the village, and got off on minimum charges they still stuck to Sasuke like leeches.

"Hey, Naruto!" I turned around, and it was just my luck.

"Hey, Chouji." I knew he was probably finding a place to eat as well, but like last time he'd probably drain my wallet.

"Man, I'm starving!" Yeah, what else is new? His expression quickly changed, "Oi, Naruto your house isn't around here. Where'd you come from?"

I stammered and couldn't find the words to say. Should I tell him where I came from?

"Oh, no. This morning I ran some errands." I scratched the back of my head, contemplating if that was a believable lie.

"Since when do you run errands?" Okay, not a believable lie. I quickly changed the subject, "Where are you heading anyways?"

"Well, Shikamaru, Ino, and I were going to meet up at the BBQ place. It's Shikamaru's turn to pay, so all the more reason to go." Chouji's face lit up with the idea of free food. Mine would've too if I were him, but alas, I was not invited. And just like the gods intended, my stomach growled in that exact moment. I could almost hear Kurama's haunting laughter.

"Naruto, would you like to join me?" He snickered a bit as he asked. I let out a nervous laugh, "W-Would that be okay?" His hand hit my back, and almost knocked the breath out of me. He let out a laugh, "If you wanted to come along, you could've just asked."

For that, I was grateful Chouji wasn't dense, and, of course, a great friend. I silently thanked him the whole way there as he rambled on about some story of an eating contest he won.

"Chouji! For someone who's always so hungry, why are you late?" Ino had complained as she waved her hand from the table where they sat. Shikamaru's head rested on his hand not paying any attention.

"I ran into someone." Chouji said as he sat himself down. "Oi, don't act like you're not happy to see me, Ino!" I greeted her. I could barely heard Shikamaru mutter a "What a drag" and I would be complaining if I had to pay for an extra person, too. Chouji and I dug right into the food with Ino taking small bites and gossiping to no one in particular. Somewhere in the middle Ino had asked, "So, Shikamaru, how's Temari?" I saw her raise an eyebrow as she leaned in the slightest bit closer to him. I saw him choke on his food for a split second. "What are you going on about?" His face was beet red. Ino giggled to herself, "Oh, please, everybody knows you two are practically hitched. Although, it's unfair. Sai hasn't made the moves on me yet, and I'm showing every little sign to let him know I'm interested. It's actually a pain in the ass." She continued to ramble on. She always found ways to make things about her. But that was just Ino, and I couldn't blame her. She's not ugly, I'm just not interested.

But somewhere along the line she had to butt into my relationship status, "Sakura told me she's staying at your place for the time being. What is it? Are you guys back together now? Or is she just a friend with benefits? I've heard rumors about Sakura having a fiance. Honestly, Naruto, you better reel that in. She might be the best you will ever have."

"What do you mean 'best I'll ever have'? I'm not that ugly. Plus, girls flirt with me all the time." I tried to defend myself. Because honestly, I was hoping Sakura wouldn't be the best.

"Please, girls only flirted with you because you're the main reason we won the war. Plus, that all shut down when Sakura made the other girls very aware that you were her's. Besides, if your fan club does exist, they're probably filled with middle aged women who are looking for a quickie, or girls half your age kissing their pillow with you in mind."

"Wow, you're a real self-esteem boost, Ino." I joked. I didn't take her words too seriously because that was just Ino for you. And she probably wasn't wrong anyway.

"And just so you know, I'm actually in a relationship right now, Ino." I spoke out in hopes to stop all this nonsense of the idea that Sakura and I were ever getting back together.

"Who?" Ino asked in a voice that meant she didn't believe me.

"Hinata." I replied. That made everyone look up, even Chouji, which meant a lot. "What?" I asked a little shamelessly.

"Hinata? I don't know. I'm kind of scared of her now. I heard she only takes kill missions, and she single handedly takes down organizations. She just isn't who she was before." Ino had answered back nervously.

"You knew about the kill missions too?"

Shikamaru and Chouji remained quiet, and I was on the edge of getting pissed off. How come everyone knew, but me?

"How come you guys never told me?! I thought we were friends!" I found myself yelling for the second time today. I saw Ino snap back.

"You just don't get it Naruto. How could we tell you? You mean so much to her, and we're all pretty sure you're the reason why she broke in the first place. We all tried so hard to get her back, and in the end we lost her. So I'm sorry if we don't think you have a right to know in the first place. You took the one person who cared for you more than she did herself, and you turned her into a monster."

Hinata

I left before dawn so I could get a head start on the enemy's location. I had unconsciously built a schedule for my missions. I refused to let missions take over for more than three days, and they never had. I knew they were heading to the Hidden Village of Cloud, so I immediately headed Northwest from the Leaf Village. Like routine, I had already scouted out the enemy's location using Byakugan. I hid on a tree's branch to avoid being seen. They were no where to be spotted at the moment.

"L-Lady Hokage, Hinata wishes to speak to you." I had barged into the Hokage's office before I was granted permission to enter. Shizune had quickly moved out of the way when she saw the expression on my face.

"I have a request I need to make." I stood before her. I watched as she shifted in her seat, "Yes?"

"The mission I turned down a couple of years ago, the one with the Hyuga selling information. I wish to take that mission now."

The Hokage stared at me to see if I was serious, I stared back not breaking once. She turned to Shizune who stood shocked. "Shizune, bring me that file."

"Yes, Hokage."

"Why the sudden change of heart, Hinata?" She asked the moment Shizune left. "Personal reasons." was my response.

"With your current condition, are you sure? Could it be that you are trying to prove something?"

I stood before her, silent.

"Very well," She continued when I didn't answer, "let me brief you on the mission."

I snapped back to reality when I heard people speaking. It had also become a habit to think of my first mission.

"Did Boss give us a new target?" The man who spoke had blonde hair that he wore slicked back. He wore a vest that he left open to reveal his bare torso. There was a tattoo that wrapped around his arm of a dragon's silhouette. I recognized him as Raiden, a member of the group.

"Yeah, Katsuo is supposed to brief us. All Boss told me was that the target is heading in this general area." a woman had answered. She had long red hair that was held up in two pigtails, and she looked way too young to be caught up in an organization like this. That must've been Manami, who, by the way, was actually twenty-seven.

"Where is Katsuo now?" A third person had joined the party. The voice came from a well built man with dark skin, and dark brown hair that he didn't even attempt to tame. He stood almost towering over the rest. This one had to be Daichi.

Katsuo is the presumed leader. Then who's Boss? Were they working for another person, or rather, another village? Most of them are alliances to the Hidden Leaf. Was it the Hidden Village of Sound? After everything in the war they still refused to build an alliance to the Leaf.

I have to attack before the others arrive. I couldn't sense anyone coming for the time being, so I pulled out an exploding smoke grenade. I looked down to see if they had noticed me to see that they were still discussing. Who is the target? The thought ran through my head before I pulled the pin, and threw it at the center of all three of them. I guess I'll never know.

The bomb went off before the three had realized it was there. I quickly moved when the smoke started to fill the air. Before they could see anything I attacked each with a kunai in hand. I moved through using Byakugan to see. I had to reserve my chakra, though, so I had left huge gashes. Their screams filled the air from the pain they couldn't see.

All of a sudden a gust of powerful wind blew the smoke away. I looked up quickly to see a woman standing in a tree. She had black hair that reached her lower back, and wore a white kimono that had designs of small flowers at the bottom. She smirked. This was none other than Amami. "How clever do you think you are? These were just decoys." I looked around to see that the three had actually been clones made from the earth. Daichi's work.

It's an ambush.

I hadn't sensed anything earlier. Then, in a matter of seconds, I now sensed all eight. They were hiding? It had to be Isamu. Another Hyuga that betrayed the village. He was from the Branch House, and his specialty was tricking the senses, so that even Byakugan was useless in finding the enemy. I saw him show himself from the shadows. "Hinata Hyuga, it's been a while." He also held a smirk on his face, probably because he was proud he tricked me.

"How sttuuppidd could you get?" A girl giggled. Or a woman, who happened to be Manami's twin. Her hair was blue, and held in the same high pigtails as her sister. She stood on the branch of a different tree. Her name was Akari. Manami revealed herself by Akari's side. "Obviously toooo stupid." She giggled alongside her sister as a response.

"Hinata? As in sunflower? I don't like their fragrance, sunflowers stink." Another girl had come from hiding. Her hair was blonde, and she wore a sundress that was decorated with pink flowers.

"Target 237: Hinata Hyuga. Ex-heiress of the Hyuga clan. Threat to the Boss. To be exterminated on sight. Leave no trace behind." Katsuo revealed himself. He was wearing cargo pants, and a black muscle shirt. His hair was white, and cut short. Almost like Naruto's.

"Done and done, Katsuo. Leave this one to me." Raiden said as he popped his knuckles. He held a smirk on his face. I remained silence. I never waste time talking on missions. Raiden was a lightning style user. He quickly performed the hand seals, and yelled out "Kuroi Kaminari!"

Black lightning emerged from his body and quickly headed towards me. I managed to dodge his hits. I remembered this jutsu. It was Darui's. I remembered him saying the Third Raikage passed it onto him alone.

They have the ability to copy other's jutsu in accordance to their chakra nature.

"You can't run forever!" He shouted triumphantly. Immediately black lightning shot everywhere all at once. I managed to dodge, and pulled a summoning scroll. I summoned two katanas that I taught myself to fight with. I had sealed them to be resistant to most chakra nature. I ran towards him as he tried to hit. I finally stood before him before cutting the lightning with one of the katana, and took the other one and hit him right in his chest. I moved quick enough for him to not realize what was happening until I finally hit him. He didn't even have time to yell out in pain before I twisted the katana in his chest, and he fell to his knees. I pulled out the katana, and watched as he fell forward. One down, seven to go.

I looked up with an expression that asked "Who's next?" Manami had been the first to react by yelling out, "Raiden!" She quickly jumped down from the tree with Akari following suit. They both yelled in unison, "You'll pay for that, Bitch!"

Author's Note: I actually cut this chapter a little short. I originally was just going to put all the fight scenes in this chapter, but I decided I'm gonna let it run onto the next chapter. So don't be too mad, that means I'm almost done with the next chapter!

Anyway, about Hinata's way of fighting. So she has taught herself to use multiple types of weapons because of the whole Byakugan situation. I made the katana sort of a favorite weapon of choice. The seal is something I also made up, but I guess it could've been some rare kind that she found on one of her missions. The seal is on the handle of the katanas, and it's basically a seal that can cut through or attack against most of the chakra natures. (I thought that maybe having it resistant against all chakra natures was a little too greedy.) But my original weapon was going to be a scythe, but honestly, who can see Hinata with a scythe? (As awesome as she is.)

Plus, all the characters are made up (to my knowledge), but the jutsu are not (sorry to say). Honestly, I'm so unoriginal I just looked some up, and stole it from other ninja (sorry), but, to be fair, I did make them a bunch of copycatters. But yeah, in order to get a feel of their chakra natures here are their names and translations (according to the internet):

Raiden: "thunder and lightning"
'His' jutsu, Kuroi Kaminiari, literally translates to 'black lightning'.

Manami: "sea/ocean"

Akari: "brightness"

Daichi: "large earth"

Isamu: "courage, bravery" (This one actually doesn't correlate, but I'm giving you the translation anyway.)

Kaori: "smell, perfume, fragrance"

Amami: "beautiful sky"

Katsuo: "victory hero" (This one doesn't correlate either.)

Okay, so thank you for reading! Tell me if you liked it or hated it!
