Disclaimer: Hey again. Sorry to keep you waiting, I was volunteering to help the humane society Saturday and didn't get to update. Sorry for the late update and here you go.
Faith walked down the dirt road with Kaoru right beside her.
"Sooo" Faith started.
"Sooo. …..How far do you live exactly?" Kaoru asked. They had been walking for miles and Faith had not the slightest clue where they were going.
"Not far, we should be there soon." Faith lied.
"Do you have to walk this far every day?" Kaoru asked, trying to keep the conversation going.
"No-yes-maybe…..I-I mean sometimes we take the bus." That wasn't a total lie. There was that one time.
"Hmm, a commoners way of transportation. You should take us on it one day." Kaoru suggested.
"Commoners? Don't you mean normal people?" Faith said, raising a brow.
"I would hardly call that normal." Kaoru said curelessly. Faith held down her hands to keep from doing and overly dramatic palm-to-forehead motion.
"Ya, ya whatever you say." She sighed, just going with it.
(Mercy)
"W-what do you mean she tried to kill herself?" Hikaru stuttered. Mercy sat down on the grass.
"That day was the anniversary of her parent's murder." Mercy sighed, closing her eyes. A shiver ran down Hikaru's spine as he let the words sink in.
"What do you mean murder?" He asked hesitantly.
"Long time ago when Faith was just a kid, she came home from school to find that her house had been broken into. She wondered in to find her father dead and her mother being held at gunpoint by the stranger. When the murderer saw Faith, he shot her mother right in front of her eyes. The man escaped, leaving Faith with the dead bodied of her parents. The police got there and everything went downhill from that point on. Faith had no other relatives, but her parents were very close with my parents so we ended up taking her in." Mercy took a breather before continuing.
"For 3 months she didn't say a word, she didn't respond with anything. Eventually, she started to awake from her trance, but the only person she would talk to was me and we ended up becoming sisters to one another. I soon found out that her mind had deleted every memory of that day and any day that had included her parents. As far as she knew, she was an orphan since birth and never had parents. Though she doesn't remember that day, when the anniversary comes along she goes into a trance and remembers everything, as she relives it over-and-over. She is so filled with guilt that it over-takes her and she is no longer herself. I guess she feels like it was her that was suppose to die, since every time the day comes she always does something to get herself killed. It's not purposely and she isn't even really aware of it herself, it's as if her body just reacts on its own to get rid of the guilt. So far I have stopped her from walking off a building, drowning, and some others. After that day passes, she forgets everything again and even forgets that she attempted suicide." Mercy explained
"S-s-so she really did try to kill herself?" Hikaru asked, breaking his silence.
"Yes. In fact, this is the first time she remembers any off this and that's probably because Kaoru got hurt. She wont admit it, but she is drwoning in guilt and cant forgiver herself until you do. It's the whole reason I'm telling you all of this, so that you can understand. You are rich and have been sheltered your entire life, but what do you know about the real world? You tried to learn about our pasts, but it's something that should be buried and never looked back on." Mercy remained completely free of any emotion whatsoever thought the entire storytelling process, though her heart burned with pain. For once, Hikaru didn't say anything. He tried to comprehend what she had just told him, but couldn't except it.
"B-but shes so happy. How can she even smile?" He asked, hanging his head down.
"Because she's strong." Mercy sighed. Hikaru felt a rain drop on his leg. It didn't take him long to realize that it wasn't rain, it was indeed a tear. He couldn't help but suddenly feel regret and sadness; could someone really go through that and how could he have hated her for it?
"I didn't tell you that to make you feel bad, I just told you that so you would forgive her." Mercy said as she got up. She turned around to see Hikaru leak a few more tears. 'You're crying now, but that's not even half of it.' Mercy thought as she got up and headed off. Mercy had just given him a shortened sweeter version of what really happened. 'so sad' she thought as she left, Hikaru behind without even a second glance.
AUTHORS NOTE: Sorry that this is a shorter chapter than normal, I just didn't want to cram all that information in there. I know it takes me forever to update, but if I get a lot of reviews on this then I promise that the next chapter will come in a lot sooner. So review please! Love you!
