I Just Can't
I just can't do it, Tigerheart
I can't tell you why
I know where you are at all times
I just can't get it out
It's stuck in my throat like a burr in my pelt
It itches, it burns
On the tip of my tongue
But I just can't say it
I just can't tell you why
If I did, you would never believe me
You would think it all lies
You would laugh
You would shame me
You would never speak to me
Now you see why I just can't?
The jay and the lion forbid me
Also the star in the tiger
Keeps you from me
We are getting farther apart from each other
With every lie that is told
Every rumor that is spread
I'm sorry, Tigerheart, I just can't!
You won't understand
And you never will
Look what Tigerstar has made you!
You are a strong, kindhearted warrior,
You and me both are being torn by lies
And as our tails intertwine
I can't help but think: Fine
Maybe we are perfect for each other
We can love one another
But I have kept a very important lie from you
I wish on every star
Every night
That I could tell you
How I know what I know
But, Tigerheart, I really can't!
Please understand
That if I told you
I may not be able to trust you
With a secret that big
You might find it hard to keep
Especially around the forest of darkness
But, understand you are being held prisoner
Though you may not know
To fight
Against the whole of the Clans
And that would mean
Against me
So you see, I just can't!
Sad. Depressing. But true!
