Chapter 5

For the past two weeks Kakarot and I have been completely silent to each other. Whatever trust we had between each other has completely disappeared. When he's around me he doesn't let me out his sight. He's always watching me waiting for me to try and escape again. When we're in the market, he holds on to me by a tight leash. When it's time to sleep he forces me to sleep in the bed with him and cuffs one hand to the bed frame.

This morning was no different from the others. We ate our breakfast in silence and when he was finished he got up and left to go to the castle. After I washed the dishes and clean the house, I went outside to try and get some sunlight. The sun shone down brightly on my face and warmed every cell in my body. I decided to take this opportunity to practice yoga meditation and martial arts. I stretched and let the air flow through every inch of my body.

After the meditation I began practicing my martial arts forms. I can feel how much I've lost since I stopped practicing when Earth was invaded but it's all coming back to me now. I continued practicing for a while longer until a voice interrupted me. "You need to keep your shoulders square or else you'll miss your target every time." Kakarot came up from behind me and repositioned my body. "There now try again." I performed the set for him again and he said,"You know you're a pretty impressive person. I've never seen someone keep fighting even when there's no chance of survival." Kakarot continued to talk, "Pretty clever to on how you keep tricking the guards... well pretty clever on your whole escape plan in general."

When I finished I turned around to face him. "Are you mocking me, because it's not funny." I continued into practicing another set, "Being someone's slave isn't exactly a dream job."

"Dream huh? What was your dream then?

I stopped in the middle of my set taken back by his question. I can't believe he's asking me about my dreams as if he's about to make them happen or something. I continued the set and answered, "I wanted to make my own family."

I could feel Kakarot's confusion through his silence, "family...?"

"Yeah a family. I wanted to get married, have a bunch of children and just be a housewife."

"Family, marriage, housewife, I don't know what any of those words mean.

I stopped practicing and wipped the sweat from my forehead. "Family, you know when two people who are in love raise children together. Usually the two people get married by promising to be faithful to each other until death."

"And to do this they have to be in love? What's that?"

"... well I guess they don't have to be in love. Love is when...it's like..." I stopped practicing again and began rubbing my forehead to think. I've only been in love once and that was two years ago, its such a hard emotion to explain, "Love it's an emotion. It's like infatuation, mixed with happiness, lust, and madness. When you're in love with someone you think about only them, and only want to be with them. Like the only time when you're truly happy is when you're around that person."

"Why does that make you mad then?"

"What are you talking about?"

"You said madness, why does love make you mad?"

"Because it just kind of turns your world upside down. You spend so much time loving someone and eventually you realize that you can't function without them. You can't eat, you can't sleep... nothing in your world seems right unless you're with the person you love. Don't Saiyans fall in love with each other? Maybe you guys just don't call it that."

"No there's no word that equivalent to love. Saiyans don't love their partners we're warriors. The sole reason behind our birth is so that we can fight and conquer galaxies. We have no reason to love anything besides a good fight."

"What about kids, don't you want to raise kids of your own?"

"We don't raise children either. Many of our Saiyans die in battle so most kids don't even know who their parents. And if they do the relationship is based enterially on training."

"Don't you ever feel lonely? Don't you ever wish for someone to share your home with, even if it's just for a short time...?"

"Lonely," Kakarot scoffed at the mention of the word. "Being lonely, needing someone to love, having those types of feelings will get you killed in battle. You have loyalty for your fellow comrades but never allow them to see your weaknesses. They won't hesitate to exploit and be rid of you."

I was taken back alittle by Kakarot's harsh words. He continued on, "We are born alone, and we will die alone. Having someone beside me won't our suffering as living beings any easier. As far as companionship..." I could sense Kakarot looking over at me as he was finishing his point, "I guess a little companionship is necessary."

After a while I finished my set and noticed the sun was setting in the distance. It's pretty unusual for Kakarot return this early, there must be something going on. I walked over and grabbed the towel that I brought out for myself.

"Why did you return so early?" I asked while wiping the sweat off my face.

"I finished my duties and I have to prepare for later on tonight."

I gave him a puzzled look, "What's happening tonight?"

"Tonight we're going on into space on a mission."

I followed Kakarot inside of the house still confused, "What kind of mission?"

"One of our territories is being threatened, so we're going to the other galaxy to rectify the situation... no more questions about the mission right now. I have somewhere to take you." Kakarot handed me a towel and asked me to follow him back outside. We walked deep into the forest for a while.

"Umm where are we going?"

Kakarot remained silent, I took that as a hint to quit asking questions. We walked for a couple more minutes and arrived at a hot spring in the forest. It was such a beautiful scene, I couldn't imagine such a place existing here. I stared out in such amazement I didn't notice that Kakarot was taking off his clothes.

"Ah wait a minute what are you doing," my face grew red as I tried to shield my eyes. I've seen Kakarot naked before but he's usually as least partially covered, not letting his shame hang out. He jumped into the hot spring and looked back at me realizing that I wasn't taking my clothes off.

"You don't want to get in?"

"I do but um, I'm not used to bathing with men..."

He chuckled at my embarrassment, "You can barely see anything in the water." He continued laughing. "Look if you're not going to take a bath can you at least come over and scrub my back. I walked over and kneeled by the edge where Kakarot was siting. I took out a rag and soap and began washing his back for him. He let out a low moan and relaxed further into the water. I was able to get a closer look at him this way. I can see the shape of the muscles in his back and neck. I traced my fingers along the his neck muscles trying to feel every shape and curve. When my fingers lightly grazed the hairs at the small of his neck, he yanked my arm and pulled me into the water.

"Ahh what was that for, you got my clothes wet."

"That's for getting ahead of yourself."

"... why can't I touch your hair?"

"Because you won't take a bath with me."

My face grew red with embarrassment, "Excuse me..."

"Take a bath with me and I'll let you touch my hair."

I stared at him in disgust for a minute and turned my back to him. You can't look okay it's embarrassing. I carefully took my clothes off trying to make sure he can't see anything. Once my clothes were off I I let my hair, this was the one moment I thanked God that I didn't cut my hair. It was long enough to fall down the middle of my back. I pulled two parts of it up over my shoulder so that the hairs falls over my breast covering them. I turned back facing Kakarot and could tell that his face had a slight tint over it.

"A promise is a promise right?" I asked walking over to him. As embarrassing as it was to be naked in front of him, this was the only opportunity I had to see Kakarot's vulnerable side. I couldn't let this time go to waste.

I sat behind Kakarot and let his body relax into my lap in the water. I ran my fingers through his hair; his hair was very coarse and soft, it seemed as soon as I put my fingers through they became lost. While I was still playing, his hand come up and gathered some of the hair covering my breasts. He twirled it around his fingers and grazed the strands lightly across his cheek. After a few moments Kakarot stood up out of the water, "C'mon Chichi we need to prepare for tonight."

I watched his naked form walk out of the water as he reached to grab his clothes and towel. I could feel my face grow hot to the touch... "Coming..."
