I'm back! After such a long time, I felt compelled to return to my story. I was unsatisfied with my work last time and it seemed to rushed for my tastes so I went back and edited/ rewrote the story. The plot is pretty much the same I just tweaked it a little bit and tried to add some essence to the dialogue and plot. I'm so happy to know that people still read and enjoyed my story even after I was long gone and hopefully those same people will come back for the revamped version. Thanks for the support everyone, and hope you guys will continue to enjoy. -thebonafiedone

Chapter 8

"Can you pass me the screw drive?" Bulma asked reaching her hand out while laying under the table. I searched through the toolbox beside her and handed her the screw driver.

"So do you know anything about the mission they're going on?"

Bulma continued to work underneath the circuit breaker, "Not really. I've never even heard of the planet we're supposed to be going to. Why have you heard something?"

"No I was just curious, I figured since you're with Vegeta all the time he would say something to you but I guess not."

"Vegeta doesn't really talk. He mainly just makes a bunch of noises in confirmation or in disagreement with whatever I'm saying. If he's addressing me he's usually ordering me to do something for him." A small spark came out from under the circuit breaker as Bulma came out from under it. She had black sludge on her face and she seemed more than happy with her progress. "Like right now he's ordering me to fix his damn gravity room cause he doesn't know the meaning of limitation, but orders are pretty much all he'll say to me."

"Oh I see..."

Bulma chuckled to herself and continued, "But that doesn't mean I don't hack their computers every once in a while to see what's going on."

"Isn't all their files in Saiyan though?"

"I'm a genius Chichi. I can't understand everything but I could comprehend the gist of what they're saying. Apparently we're going to Argo I believe is the name. It's one of several mining planets that's under planet Vegeta's control. It's full of minerals which are used as fuel and building weapons, ships, etc."

"So they're paying for these minerals?"

"It's more like serfdom. The Argians agree to mine the planet for the Saiyans in exchange for protection against other competitors who want their minerals themselves. I guess since Argo isn't a militaristic planet it works out for them." Bulma turned on the computer and started imputing some codes to get the system running again. "From what the files were telling me is that there's been some trouble down at the mining sites from an invading competitor."

"Well why does Vegeta have to come, don't they have a Saiyan base out here to protect their investments?"

"That's a good question. Any smart military tactician would... that means who ever else is there is no ordinary enemy and probably overpowered the small military that's there. That's about as much as I could tell though." On that note Bulma finished putting in the last of her coding sequence. "Alright that's the last of it." She wiped the sweat off her head and took her gloves off. "There everything should be fine now. Why don't we go watch them train for a while, give us a little entertainment."

The main sparing room was a big gym like area with a railed walkway that circled around the Gym's perimeter, where Bulma and I stood watch. The Saiyans went two at a time sparing with each other until one Saiyan was knocked on the ground. Up next was the two brother's Kakarot and Raditz.

"Time to see how much you've grown little brother," Raditz quipped.

They both switched into their fighting stances. Once the bell rang Raditz launched at Kakarot furiously throwing blows, as Kakarot proceeded to dodge each one. Immediately I could tell Kakarot's fighting was completely different from that of other Saiyans. He was always analyzing the opponents and anticipated their every move. Raditz was easily tiring himself out trying to hit Kakarot. His last recourse was to try and get under his skin, "What's the matter Kakarot, grown soft again since you've been around that human women. Laying with her must've brought up some old memories of the past again huh?"

In the next instant Kakarot appeared in front of Raditz and landed a strong punch into his throat. Raditz fell back onto the floor cradling his throat with both hands, gasping for air. The bell rang signaling Kakarot the winner and after a few seconds Raditz composed himself and muttered, "cheap-shot" underneath his breath.

"Attention crew, now approaching Argo." The ship announced to alert everyone on board.

"Alright men prepare for landing!" Vegeta shouted to break up the training session. Kakarot grabbed his towel and looked up at me signaling for me to follow him back to the room. Kakarot proceeded to get dressed in his formal military garb, packed a bag full of various supplies and handed it to me. "We'll be camping out in the main village for the duration of our stay here." Once Kakarot finished packing he pulled out a small plug from the bag and walked towards me, "I need you to wear this also. He lifted my head up and place the device inside my nose. "You have to wear this at all times while you're outside the ship," Kakarot continued to admonish me. "The atmosphere has low oxygen levels and therefore unbreathable to humans."

"What about you? Are you going to be able to breath?"

"Saiyan respiratory systems are stronger and can adapt to almost any environment. I also need you to hold onto this bag- don't lose it okay."

I nodded my head in agreement as I held the bag close to my chest, "What's inside the bag? It's a family heirloom that my grandfather gave me when I was on Tazba." As the ship drew closer and closer I could see from the window that Argo was a desolate planet. There was dry mountain ranges as far as the eye could see, with very little sign of plant life or even drinkable water. Once the ship landed I followed Kakarot out to exit the ship. Outside the ship the air of Argo was very arid, making it difficult to breath even with the oxygen convertor up my nose. Without any trees to protect us in the open desert the sun shone down on us strongly making it difficult to see without having to partially shield your eyes.

Not long after, our host came to greet us. They were tall creatures who walked upright on hind legs. They had short brown fur covering their bodies, with visible dark cheetah like spots around them. They allowed their hair to grow from their head it was braided and hung downward touching just above their shoulders. These beings seemed sapient but they didn't resemble a warrior race like the Saiyans. I wonder what business the Saiyans could have here?

The creatures bowed slightly to us and began to speak, "We're glad to see you have made it safely King Vegeta."

Vegeta gave a slight nod at their recognition, "Are the meatians still on the planet?"

"Yes and they continue to attack more Argians everyday, it is at the point where we can no longer mine the caves anymore."

Vegeta's looked changed from neutral to disapproving, "We won't waste any more time then. Take us to camp."

Base camp was only about a ten minute walk away from where the spaceship had landed. It was a small village where the houses and store were made of dried mud bricks. "Chi-chi you'll be staying in that hut over there with Bulma." Kakarot pointed across from us to a hut a little out of the way. I probably won't see you until tomorrow but that doesn't mean I can't find you if I have to." Kakarot looked me straight in my eyes to make sure I understood how serious he was, "Do not make me have to find you."

Without saying a word I nodded in agreement, understanding that I was completely out of my element here. I settled down into the hut as Bulma arrived inside, " I guess it's just me and you here." I collapsed onto the first futon in the hut, "And now we wait..." I looked over at the bag Kakarot gave me thinking about what could be so important. Curiosity got the best of me, so I opened it to see what was inside, pulled back the spare clothes and equipment and saw a glowing orange orb. "Woah-" I uttered.

Bulma heared me and came over to peak over my shoulder, "Woah chichi, do you know what that is?"

"No what is it?"

"It's a dragonball. I read about these when I was younger. They were created by the Namicians. There's seven of them and if you collect all seven of them the eternal dragon Shenron appears and grants you one wish."

"Kakarot said it was a gif-... I mean he found it on one of his missions. He thinks it brings him good luck. I don't think he knows about the myth behind them."

"It's probably best if we don't tell him that, he might use it to wish for eternal power or something."

I chuckled a little bit and covered the ball in the bag again, "you're probably right."

We've been here for several days now, but it doesn't seem like the situation is letting up. Bulma and I hardly see any of the Saiyans besides the one's that are watching over the village. From the conversations I've heard it seems the Meatians are more of a problem than they anticipated. If things don't let up I don't think we'll be leaving for a while.

Bulma and I have been keeping ourselves busy by helping out around the village. As I was bringing water into the village I could hear screaming coming from a distance. Several Argians ran past me knocking me and causing me to drop the water I was carrying on the ground. I turned around and saw that the houses were being firebombed.

"Chichi!" Bulma called running towards me. "Run, we're being attacked!" She grabbed my wrist which caused me to run along with her.

"Wait a minute Bulma, the bag. I have to get the bag."

"Chichi forget the bag, you'll die if you go back."

I stopped pulling my wrist away, "I promised I would keep it safe." I ran back towards the burning village to try and find Kakarot's bag.

I arrived at the burning hut but fire was already leaking out the front threshold. I found a nearby bucket of water, poured it over my head, and walked hurried inside."C'mon where is it," I said to muttered to myself trying to to breath in any of the smoke before me. *Cough Cough* found it. I grabbed the "..." and ran out of the hut on the way back to the space ship. "Chichi!" I heard a voice call from above me as the person landed in front of me.

"Siva! What are you doing here?"

"I came to rescue you, I had a feeling they would bring you here." Siva stepped out from his hover car and walked towards me.

"What do you mean, how did you know I would be here?"

"It was all apart of the plan, I'll explain it to you later. C'mon we don't have much time."

"You're siding with the Meatians Siva? You're killing innocent beings here and for what?"

Siva's face began to grow with anger, "I knew you wouldn't understand!" Siva pulled out a gun and shot it towards me. The beam grazed the left side of my arm but still left me with a burning sensation that I couldn't help but cradle with my other hand. I charged at him and tried my darnest to land punches but he was moving too fast for me in my weakened state and managed to knock me on the back of my neck with his elbow. "It's a new skin suit that integrates with my nervous system that speeds up my reflexes and increases my strength. Not a match for Saiyan speed and strength, but gets the job done more or less. He hand cuffed my hands tightly behind my back and picked me up roughly by the arms.

"I'll give you ten seconds to drop her now,"Kakarot explained standing firm with his arms down by his side.

Siva turned towards him holding me in front of him with one hand and his other arm extended out holding his gun. "Take a step towards me and I'll shoot"

Almost in an instant Kakarot flew towards him, and in that same moment Siva fired his gun sending a beam out that struck Kakarot and left him incapacitated on the ground. All of his body movements were rendered motionless and he struggled to move even his smallest fingers. "This little beam while deadly to humans and many other beings is capable of stunning even the strongest of Saiyans."

"Kakarot!" I yelled. "I kept the bag safe!" Siva tightened his grip on me and pulled me onto his space pod . The door closed in front of us and the pod lifted us up into the air.
