Chapter 11
I laid onto a grassy field allowing my body to relax into the ground. There were clouds in the sky but the sun rays were able to shine brightly through as the clouds passed over allowing me a glimpse at God himself. I could hear laughter in the background of my meditation. There kids were running through the field with Kakarot playing a game of tag.
I peaked over to the side to watch them for a moment as I saw Kakarot fall to the ground and the kids pile on top of him. He was genuinely laughing and enjoying himself while he played with those kids. He reminded me of my father and how he used to played with the kids in the Fire Kingdom. Although Kakarot is a big man my father was much bigger than him, a tall and wide man. But he was the true definition of a gentle giant; goofy demander, and a very poetic man. I'm sure if we met in another life time my father would've loved Kakarot.
It almost felt silly picturing Kakarot as a father figure, someone I could bring home to dad. Looking at Kakarot with those kids, he's a completly different person; smiling, approachable, one would never guess that he could be a violent killer. I wonder what brings out the soft side in him so much? As I was lost in my thoughts I failed to see Kakarot approach me, his tall stature towered over me as he blocked the sun's rays. "What are you thinking about?" he asked looking down on me. I shook my head no in response, "Nothing, I was just enjoying the sun."
"Come on let's go see if the ship is finished."Kakarot said while pulling me up off the ground.
"Wait you've got grass all in your hair." I stood on my tiptoes to try and get some of the pieces out of his hair. Since his hair is so thick this proved to be much more challenging than I thought. "There last one- now we can go." Kakarot gently grabbed my hands out of his hair and pulled me closer to him until our foreheads were able to touch. Our breathing synchronized to where my breasts collided with his chest every time we took a breath. Every time our chests collided I could feel my body temperature rising. I found myself excited in anticipation of his next. His hands cupped the curves of my waist and pulled my body in deeper to his. Then Kakarot placed a tender kiss on my lips before pulling his body away from mine.
"Come on we should get going." Kakarot walked ahead of me for a moment until I ran to catch up to him and interlock his fingers with mine. We walked for about five minutes to get into the heart of the village to see Piccolo and Grand Elder.
"How are repairs coming along to the ship?" Kakarot asked Piccolo.
"They're taking longer than I thought they would. I'm sorry but your time here might be longer than expected."
"Is there anything I can do to help?"
"As a matter of fact there is," Grandmaster Guru abruptly said. "It's nothing important but you could help some of us pick the Aijia flowers. It's the time of the year when they begin to bloom so your assistance would be most helpful."
Kakarot looked over at me to get confirmation, "Do you mind picking some flowers today?"
I laughed at little at the thought of Kakarot picking flowers with me, "Sure why not?"
Kakarot and I spent some time out picking flowers in the hot weather. As I dug deeper in to the forest I could hear a rustling coming from a bush beside me. Being a little curious I pushed back some of the leaves to see what it was then suddenly a blue creature jumped out of the bushes and landed directly on my face. "Ahh!" I let out a loud scream trying to pry the creature from my face and fell on my butt. "Chi-chi what's wrong?" I could hear Kakarot call running through the forest to find me.
"Chi-chi, Chi-chi what are y" his sentence stopped short as he began to laugh at me. He pulled the creature from my face and showed it to me, "There's nothing to worry about it's just a frog." I calmed down a little now that I could tell it wasn't going to eat me. I could still feel it's webbed feet on my face and tried to rub the feeling away. Kakarot released the frog onto the ground and watched it hop away, "Are you okay now?" He bent down to my level and brushed a couple stray hairs out my face before lightly caressing my check again. He had the biggest grin on his face amused by my current predicament. Seeing his smile made all my worries disappear. I cradled his hand against my face and relaxed into his hold, I hope his smile never disappears from my sight.
He sat on the ground beside me, "Let's take a break for a minute so you can catch your breath." I laid my head on his shoulder trying to compose myself.
"So you never told me how you ended up meeting Piccolo."
"Why do you want to know so badly?"
"It just seems like an unlikely friendship, a namekian and a saiyan… It just seems like there's a story behind it."
Kakarot chuckled to himself a little before answering, "I met Piccolo some years back when I did my first solo mission. When I was returning back to Planet Vegeta, my ship was attacked and two of my engines blew out."
"Why was your ship attacked?"
Kakarot shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know why, but I think it was a planned attack."
"Why do you say that?"
"Just a feeling I have but anyways, after the attack my ship was caught in a nearby planets orbit and I was pulled down on to this planet. When I crashed I was able to pull myself out of the wreckage and walked for about a mile until I passed out by a lake.I don't know how long I was there but when I came to a Namekian was standing over me and brought me water. After that I passed out and when I came to again I was lying down in one of their huts with bandages while Piccolo was watching over me."
"Was he the one that saved you?"
"He denies it but I'm pretty sure he was the one that found me."
"They weren't scared of you, even though you were hurt wasn't your presence threatening enough?"
Kakarot shoke his head no, "Namek is relatively isolated and and pretty difficult to get to if you don't know where you're going. My presence was threatening because it meant that outsiders knew how to get here and that meant they were at risk for attack. So for a while they kept close watch on me until they decided that I wasn't a threat."
"How long were you here until you went home?"
"I was here for a little over a week. When I crashed I must've hit my head hard cause I had amnesia. I couldn't recall much, the only thing I remembered was my human name Goku. So I stayed here until my memories came back. They welcomed me with such open arms here that after my solo missions I always make a stop here before returning to Namek."
"You must really like it here then huh?"
"It's peaceful, it reminds me so much of my first home. I can't help but be drawn to it."
I started to laugh at Kakarot's story a little, "What's so funny?" Kakarot raised an eyebrow at me trying to understand my amusement.
"It's just that you're completely different from the person that I first met. I would've never thought that you were so gentle and caring, it's disappointing that I can't see you like this often enough. Military life doesn't suite you at all."
Kakakrot chuckled at my last statement, "I don't think so either..."
"So why do you do it then?"
"It's the Saiyan way of life, sometimes we really don't have a choice in what happens to us..." Kakarot stood back up and reached out his hand for me to grab it. He pulled me up with him and pushed away some stray hairs, "Let's continue picking." We started picking the flowers again this time Kakarot stayed close to me to make sure nothing else pops out on me.
"So can I ask what's the end game for the military?"
"What do you mean," Kakarot was puzzled by my sudden question.
"Like what are you guys trying to accomplish conquering all of these planets? Aren't you guys already the strongest beings in the galaxy, so what's the point of all of this?"
Kakarot chuckled at question, "I guess to outsiders we appear to be the strongest beings, but a lesson I've learned is that there will always be someone stronger. The reason we're constantly conquering other planets is because we're preparing for war."
"War with who?"
"The leader of the Planet Trade Organization Frieza." Kakarot continued knowing that I had so many more questions to ask. "The Planet Trade Organization that employs and enslaves powerful races to take over other planets in order to be sold. For hundreds of years Saiyans have been enslaved by Frieza and his family."
"I didn't think anyone could enslave Saiyans. Why are you going to war with the beings that control you guys wouldn't that be suicide?"
"It's not that simple, but it's all started to make sense when we were on Argo. That ambush by the Meatians was more than a simple plan from the former slaves. For some time now we've had incidences of our ships being attacked by the Meatians and others out in Frieza's territory. Argo was the first time that we were attacked on our own turf. That means Frieza's moving closer and he's planning to attack us directly soon."
"How do you know it was Frieza if he's never attacked you guys directly?"
"I know the Meatians work for Frieza as well and I wasn't sure at first but that same ship the Meatians landed with on Argo was similar to the ship that attacked me on my first mission."
"Well why would he want to attack his own allies then?
Kakarot shrugged his shoulders, "I guess out of fear, you don't want your allies to grow to powerful so you destroy them before they can destroy you."
"So why go around conquering these other planets if they pose no threats?"
"Mainly for resources, sometimes to stop any imposing threats.."
"…was Earth an imposing threats…?"
Kakarot stopped picking flowers and turned to look at me, we stood in silence for a moment while Kakarot searched for the correct words, "From my understanding attacking Earth at first wasn't an early priority until we found a drifting space ship. Although the men aboard proved no threat King Vegeta didn't want to take any risk of them having any ties to Frieza."
My feelings were a little hurt by this new information; my life was turned upside down because of a hunch that someone had agaisnt this creature called Frieza. I wanted to fly into a angry rage against Kakarot but, then I remembered we both fell victim to similar circumstances. His home was taken away from him too,"How did you handle it, having your home taken away from you, you're life being turned upside down? And then willingly pledge your alligance to the people that took your freedom from you?"
Kakarot gently grabbed my hand trying his best to console me, "Unfortunately for me I was the one who caused the destruction of my home. Pledging my alligance I was already a part of the military the moment I was born, I had no other choice but to return back to Vegeta. There's no words anyone can say to make your pain go away. The only thing you can do is move forward, eventually the pain becomes less and less until it's nothing but a distant memory."
"Sounds so simple , you don't ever think about what your life could've been without any of this war and destruction."
Kakarot shook his head no, "If I wasn't who I was I would probably be a farmer still living with my grandfather, but that's not the reality I live in. There's no point thinking about if's, if my life was to be anything different it would've been. I think that's something my grandfather used to say was fate." Kakarot caressed my check before continuing, "The least I can say is that from all this destruction something beautiful blossomed." He stared straight into my eyes as if he was trying to capture my soul, "I think some where in a different life time we met under different circumstances, we would get married, live out in the county side and have several children." My hand came up and caressed Kakarot's hand, and I wished I could make this moment last forever between us."
