Ch 34: Rawr
"Ty, calm down, it's okay," Jason's sad voice drifts through the door.
"Calm down? He's dead, Jason! My best friend is dead!" Ty sobs. My eyes flick open, and I yawn and stretch my arms, gaining awareness again. Ty and Jason are home! Good. Wait, why were they out? Were they going to the town center to-
Oh.
OH.
Ty's okay, he didn't die, he's alive! I jump to my feet and pull on the door knob, but it still won't budge. I make a face and pound on the door, but it doesn't move.
Hmph.
"I know that, okay?" Jason says roughly. "I get it! I saw him fall, too!"
"S-Sorry... I... Sorry..."
"It's okay. You're stressed. It's okay."
"Why do you two even care? He's Herobrine's son!" one of the others says, seeming frustrated.
Someone sighs, and then Seto's voice reaches my ears. "You guys... you didn't know him like we did."
"Ty and Jason knew him just as well as we did," Ian points out. He actually sounds pretty sad, too. Ugh, I'm a horrible person, this is all my fault. Why do I keep making people sad?
"Ty and Jason were really close to Sky before and during the game show," Seto explains, a hint of a threat in his voice. "So could you please refrain from being heartless jerks?"
"But- but you still hate him, right?" Jerome asks unsurely as if his opinion of me rests solely on their answers.
I cross my fingers.
"O-Of course we do!" Jason and Ty stutter in sync. Sigh. Well, I guess I sort of expected it. We can't let the GameMaster know that Jason and I know that Ty doesn't really hate me.
"Oh," the Fluffy says, sounding disappointed. "Okay. Good."
"So, I guess we should go inside?" Quentin suggests with a slightly shaky voice.
"Wait, what's that by the door?" Seto asks.
"It's an ingot of budd-" Mitch starts.
Ty starts sobbing loudly. "Sky!" he wails, and I want so badly to hold him, but I can't.
"Guys! I'm fine!" I yell. No one responds. Ty keeps crying. Jason keeps comforting him and sniffling every few seconds. "GUYS!" I scream. They don't reply.
What the heck?
"Come on, let's just... we need to go inside," Seto says, sighing.
"Okay," Ty breathes. "I-I guess- Ow!"
"What the Nether‽" Jason exclaims.
"Is there a- there's an invisible barrier surrounding the Living Quarters!" Seto realizes.
"Oh, my bad, I forgot to take it down."
Oh, so is the barrier sound proof? Wait, how come I could hear my friends if my friends couldn't hear me?
"You don't have friends. But, to answer your question, William wanted you to hear their pain. He knows how much you like it, you know, being my son and all."
I resist the urge to scream out loud at him.
"Why would he need a barrier around the Living Quarters..?" Ian asks the others as he opens the door.
I make a weird little 'oof' sound as the door swings into my face.
While Ian and Quentin (the first two to enter the building) stare at me with wide eyes, Jason and Ty walk in. "Ty!" I shout excitedly, literally jumping at him and tackling him to the ground with a monster hug. "You're not dead!"
"And neither are you!" he cries happily, hugging me back. "How did you-"
I laugh and pin him to the ground by his hands, and he smiles. "The-"
"Skybrine!" Mitch and Jerome shout, tugging me off of him. I wince at both the name and the way they dig their fingers into my shoulders to pull me up.
"What the heck, man? He was literally sobbing over your 'death,' and you just attacked him!?" Mitch asks in disbelief.
I frown. "I-"
"Don't even talk to me, Skybrine," Ty growls, but he flicks his eyes in the direction of my bedroom and then winks at me.
I grin. "Rawr, he's mine, now!" I yell, slipping out of Merome's hold, grabbing Ty's hand, and dragging him to my room. Luckily, the GameMaster unlocked the door when he put down the barrier.
I push Ty inside and then spin around and slam the door shut. Immediately afterward, I lock it, and then Ty pushes a budder chair over and sets it under the doorknob.
While the rest of Team Crafted (Jason not included; I think he's just silently hating us for leaving him out of this) bang on my door and shriek at me not to hurt Ty again, Ty grabs my arm and leads me over to my bed with a big grin on his face. "How are you alive?" he whisper-shouts.
"The GameMaster caught me and teleported me to a room and then we talked a bit and he was like 'Grr, I don't like you, I'ma lock you in the Living Quarters and then murder Ty,' and I was like 'Noooo!' but he didn't give a crap so he locked me in here and put a force field around the whole building and reinforced the doors with iron and then I accidentally cried myself to sleep but then I heard you guys outside and you're alive!" I squeal giddily, gasping for breath at the end of my weird speech. "How?"
"We were just insanely lucky," Ty answers. "I actually fell in the wrong place during one of the Dropper stages, but Jason guilt-tripped the GameMaster into saving me before I could actually hit the ground. That was awesome." He pauses, frowning as his eyes fill with pain. "But- But when the GameMaster came back after- well- we thought you'd died, Sky! I was horrified! I thought- I- We just- I-" He cuts himself off with a sob and then leans forward and hugs me tightly.
"It's alright, Ty. I'm okay, and you are, too!" I assure him, hugging him back. Notch, I love this boy. I don't know what I would have done if he had died...
"You would have moved on. You also might have possibly begun to follow in my footsteps. Maybe you would have stopped being such a disgrace.
"Maybe we should endanger Ty more often..."
"No!" I shout, jumping off the bed and away from Ty. "Don't you dare!" Team Crafted pounds against my door harder.
Ty's eyes widen, and he shrinks back even as he reaches out a hand toward me. "W-What's wrong?"
I bite my lip as I carefully sit back down next to him. "I'm sorry, I- it's nothing, Ty. I'm sorry for scaring you."
He gives me a suspicious look, but he still drops the subject. "Come here, I just wanna be close to you."
I smile sadly because he doesn't mean that like I so desperately want him to mean it. But I don't say anything about it – no, of course I don't. All I do is mutter a nearly silent 'okay' right before bringing him back into a tight hug that will hopefully last forever.
