Ch 37: The Dare

A few seconds later, my eyes widen with everyone else's. Ty takes his hand off of mine. "O-Oh, snap! I- I didn't mean that! Can I give him a different dare? Uh, Jerome, I dare you to kiss Mitch! Th-That's what I meant."

The GameMaster smiles cruelly. "Nope, too late, Skybrine. Jerome? I believe it's time for you to carry out the dare."

Jerome looks from Mitch to the GameMaster with terrified eyes. "B-But- But I- Mitch- Isn't it against the rules to dare the person who dared you?"

"You didn't dare Skybrine. He did a truth."

Jerome furrows his eyebrows. "Ugh, you know what I meant! Can't we just- what if I just kissed Mitch, like Skybrine suggested after the first dare? I feel like that would be traumatizing, seeing as we're both straight."

The GameMaster rolls his eyes, but I can't tell if it's because he doesn't believe it would be traumatizing or because he doesn't believe they're both straight. "Please carry out the first dare."

Everyone in the team either freaks out (*cough* Jerome and Mitch *cough cough*), glares at me, or attempts to change the GameMaster's mind.

What have I done?

"What you were meant to do."

"I- I can't do it," Jerome squeaks, staring at Mitch.

The GameMaster shrugs. "If you don't kill him, I will."

"Kill him!?"

"I figure 'fatal' injuries will lead to death if not treated, and I'm not really in a doctor mood, so, I mean... either way, Mitch dies."

"I'm- I'm emotionally incapable of killing him," Jerome whispers, still glancing between William and Mitch.

"That's alright, don't be ashamed! I'll do it for you-" the GameMaster starts.

"No!" Jerome yells, running over to Mitch and clinging onto his shaking form. "No, it's okay! I think fatal injuries are enough!"

"Look, either you give him fatal injuries, or I flat-out kill him," the GameMaster says, sounding annoyed. "Your choice."

"Could I do something to, like, replace it?" I ask desperately. "I mean, I know you just love seeing me in pain, so could he just give fatal injuries to me?"

"That wouldn't traumatize him, Skybrine. He has to be traumatized."

"But that's not fair to Mitch!"

"Jerome, you have one minute to give Mitch fatal injuries."

Jerome bites his lips and glances at Mitch, who is still shaking in Jerome's arms. "J-Jerome?" Mitch whimpers.

Jerome tightens his hold on the trembling boy. "I- I-I- Please don't-"

"Forty-five seconds." He pauses. "What's taking so long? Are your claws not sharp enough? Here, take this diamond axe."

Jerome reflexively catches the Betty that falls in front of his face, but then he sighs. "I'm so sorry, Mitch," he whispers. Mitch tenses as his best friend holds the axe over his chest.

"Thirty seconds."

"OhmyNotch, ohmyNotch, oh my Notch," I panic, biting my lip and searching my mind for my father's presence. Where is He when I need Him!?

Dad, please, if you're intruding on my thoughts again, please let me know!

"Sorry, I went to get a doughnut."

You what!? My friend is being forced to kill my other friend, and you took a freaking intermission!?

"Uh-huh. So, what did you need?"

MY FRIEND IS BEING FORCED TO KILL MY OTHER FRIEND. What do you think I need!?

"Help?"

Yes!

"You're Skybrine, you dense moron. Just screw the GameMaster over."

You said not to do that earlier.

"I changed my mind, William's a jerk."

How am I supposed to hurt him? I don't have my powers anymore.

"I can channel my powers through you. I may lose mental contact with you for a few minutes, but you'll be able to use the Pain Transfer power."

I hate using that power.

"Do you want to save your friends or not?"

"Fifteen seconds. Please stop crying and stab him already, as I have literally run out of popcorn and am too lazy to spawn more," the GameMaster says in monotone as he shows us the bottom of his empty popcorn bag. (Is he freaking serious!?)

I stand up and walk over to the GameMaster, who raises an eyebrow at me. "What's up, Skybrine? Want a better view of your old friend murdering your other old friend?"

I smirk. "Actually..." With a small, confident laugh, I dart forward and press my hands to William's cheeks, winking at Jerome as I do so.

How do you like it, William?

The GameMaster wails in pain, and I laugh because this is incredibly amusing. Imagine what he's feeling right now! Seeing as I'm using my dad's power, it'll be worse than anything the GameMaster has ever put me through. It'll feel as if his very soul is being ripped apart at the seams- oh, and look at his face! He looks so utterly mortified! And his screams, oh, his beautiful screams! He screams like a dying child, and it's so wonderful.

"Sky!" a voice shouts, and then I'm being forcefully torn away from the GameMaster. I fall backwards onto the floor, still laughing slightly at the tears running down the GameMaster's face.

"Does it feel good?" I ask with a low tone.

"Sky, stop!" the voice yells, and this time I identify it as Ty's voice. "You're scaring us, you're scaring me!"

My eyes widen, and I clamp my mouth shut. "I- I-"

What did I just do?

"You made use of your powers."

N-No, I made use of your powers.

"We have the same powers, idiot."

I am Sky. My name is Sky. I am a part of Team Crafted and my job is to protect people.

"Son, you mispronounced the word 'Skybrine' again. Also, you don't protect people, remember? You harm them."

"Oh my Notch," I whisper, staring off into nothingness.

Suddenly, I'm thrown against the wall of the Challenge Room, and I yelp as the GameMaster shoots me a furious glare. "How did you do that?" he hisses as black metal bars fly down from the ceiling and up from the floor to trap me against the wall of the room. Jason and Ty are looking at me with terrified eyes, and Mitch and Jerome are hugging each other tightly. "I took away your powers!"

"I-I- M-My dad told me He'd channel His power t-through me so I could stop-"

"No one stops me," the GameMaster growls. "No one!"

I scowl at him. Probably not the best idea, but then again, I've never been known to have good ideas. "And no one hurts my friends. No one."

"No one except you, right?"

I wrinkle my nose and stick out my tongue at him, because what else can I do?

"Oh, how mature," William says sarcastically, rolling his eyes and turning back to Team Crafted. "Ty, truth or dare? Actually, just for you, I'll change the concept of the game. Dare or dare?"

My eyes widen, and I shake my head frantically. "Hey, I'm over here, Willie! 'M just waiting for my dare!"

William sends me another glare out of the corner of his eye, but he doesn't say anything to me. "U-Uh, dare? I mean, seeing as I don't have any other choice..," Ty trails off.

The GameMaster grins. "I dare you to kill yourself in the most gruesome way possible."
