Ch 41: PLOT TWIST
A split second later, William and my father are standing in front of the Team and me, and somehow they look bigger, more menacing than they did before.
But I am not backing down, not now. Not after what they did.
"You- Your eyes!" the GameMaster gasps, staring at them in awe despite the fact that he is probably partially blind by now.
Herobrine nudges him. "Told you."
"But- how!?"
"What, you doubted my son?"
"He's not your son," William growls.
"And why do you treat him so badly if he's not my son?"
"... I mean, he's not your birth son-"
"He's as close as anyone could get."
The GameMaster glares at Him. "Shut up and get along with me for a moment so we can murder these kids, alright?"
My father huffs.
"We're equal now, right? I've got powers, now, too!"
"But you stole them," Herobrine reminds him.
"I will never be good enough for you, will I?"
"What can I say? You ship SkyMU."
"That was a recent thing! And anyways, I only ship it because Skybrine so obviously does not like Jason that way."
"Wha- then why do you even ship them?"
"Because if I shipped Skylox, it would give Skybrine hope!"
"Ty is dead," I hiss at him. "There isn't much hope to give for that ship."
"The ship has," my father says, making His voice deeper for this last word, "sunk."
I lunge toward Him, knocking Him onto the ground and preparing to punch Him senseless. Then I remember that I am Skybrine, so I press my hands to His arms and then I create and transfer as much pain as I possibly can, and my father screams so loudly, and, yeah, maybe I like it just a little bit.
But then pale hands are tearing me away from my horrible father, and I'm kicking and punching and thrashing around, but they don't let go, and then a shock of pain explodes throughout my body and I yelp and go limp. I'm immediately pinned to the ground and faced by the owner of the pale hands, the GameMaster, and then he and my father are standing over me and I'm just panting because I still haven't recovered from that shock, and I'm trying really hard to force my body to regen but Seto is frantically whispering "Forty more seconds, I just need forty more seconds!" in the background and it's really distracting.
"One does not simply hurt Herobrine," the GameMaster growls protectively, snaking an arm around my father's waist.
"One does not simply murder Ty," I sneer back as tears threaten to blur my vision. I blink them back. I can't cry, not now.
"Ten seconds," Seto breathes, and William and Herobrine look up curiously, giving me enough time to slip out of their hold and stand upright.
"What are you- why are you counting down?" the GameMaster asks cautiously.
"Three, two, one-" Seto stops, and a mischievous smile creeps onto his face. "Tell me, Mr. GameMaster, when was the last time you removed my powers?"
"Well, only a few days ago- oh no."
"Want some help, Sky?" Seto asks, holding out his hands with the palms up. I grin as fiery, purple orbs flare up on them.
"But of course," I reply.
I guess it's then that the two villains actually realize I've escaped from their grasps, and, coincidentally, that is also when they begin to panic. "You think you two actually have a chance at beating us?" William laughs nervously. "You're up against Herobrine and the GameMaster! Be reasonable. Two kids with a few crappy powers won't faze us."
Seto raises an eyebrow. Then he disappears, and when he reappears eight seconds later, he's holding all of the sharp objects that were pointed at Ty earlier. (He's also wearing a horribly sad face, probably from seeing the body, but that- that doesn't matter.) "How 'bout you two against seven kids with not only a few crappy powers, but also a couple of blades?"
Mitch grabs a sword, and Jerome takes an axe. Ian and Quentin grab bows, and Jason just snatches one of everything. When faced with all of our questioning looks, he simply glares at the GameMaster. "That... thing killed one of my best friends. I am going to murder him."
"That's the spirit!" I cheer, and before the two evil dudes have a chance to react, I pounce at them. Seto pins the GameMaster to the ground with his magic, and the majority of my friends attack him while Ian creeps up behind Herobrine. "Ready to die?" I ask my father.
He scowls at me and raises a hand, and I raise my hand, too, ready to meet Him in this competition of Pain Transfer. Before He can do anything else, though, He winces in pain and closes His eyes. Then He reaches behind Himself and rips an arrow out of His back, and I silently thank Ian for being awesome.
Before my dad can see who shot the arrow, I rip it from His hands and slam the arrowhead down at His heart. Sadly, His reflexes are perfection, so He manages to catch it before it even makes contact with His skin.
The GameMaster's battle seems to be going the same way. My friends – they are my friends now, right? - get the upper hand, and then he saves himself by being awesome.
While I'm glancing over at my friends' battle, my father is reaching up and flipping us around so that I'm pinned to the ground and He's glaring triumphantly at me from above. Out of the corner of my eye, I can see my friends struggling as the GameMaster blasts them all backwards with some sort of spell.
"Hey, Dad?" I ask.
"Yes, Skybrine?"
"Is it possible to transfer pain through the ground?"
"Maybe," He shrugs, and I smirk and press my hands to the ground on either side of me.
My father realizes my plan too late to stop the shock that flashes down into the dirt and travels several feet to the right until it pops back out of the ground and into the GameMaster, who howls and stumbles backward, eventually falling back onto the grass.
Herobrine's eyes widen, and He jumps off of me to run over to William. "Will?" He asks worriedly, leaning over the man/monster/thing. "You okay?"
"I-I- I'm fine," the GameMaster stammers, blinking rapidly. I casually walk over to the two, standing at William's head (he's laying face up on the ground). Closing my eyes, I lean over him.
Then my eyes come open.
"Why, hello, there, William," I say in a childish voice, laughing slightly as he yelps and tries to cover his eyes. "Appreciating the brightness much? Geez, man. Do you need sunglasses? Mine are over there if you want. Maybe you could-"
"Stop, you're going to permanently blind him!" my father roars, splaying a hand toward me and causing a blast of wind that sends me flying backwards into the wall of the Living Quarters.
I groan and sit up, holding my head. "I mean, yeah, th-that was sort of the point-"
"Why did that affect you?" Herobrine asks William, being careful not to look directly at his eyes. Why does He care about him so much?
"I don't know!" the GameMaster shouts, sitting up. "I just- you've never looked me in the eyes like that, I didn't know it hurt so badly!"
"Are you kidding? Sky looked you in the eyes hundreds of times when he was a child! You played peek-a-boo with that idiot!"
"Well, yes, but only for short periods of time!"
"Woah, woah, back up!" I yell, getting their attention. "We played peek-a-boo?"
The GameMaster looks like a deer caught in headlights, and my dad just looks annoyed. "Notch, you ask so many questions." He turns back to William. "But, still, I think it's time we tell him. You've been keeping it from him for too long."
"Keeping what from me?" I ask.
The GameMaster bites his lip. "But what if he hates me?"
"He already hates you, you imbecile!" Herobrine replies, huffing.
"Keeping what from me?" I ask again.
"But, I mean, I left him!" the GameMaster whines.
Herobrine shrugs, waving it off. "Just blame it on me. After all, it was technically my fault."
"Technically? It was entirely your fault!"
"Not true!"
"Just freaking tell me!" I scream. My friends are looking on with wide eyes. Well, all except for Mitch and Jerome, who seem to be making out- wait what
I'll deal with that later.
"Well, uh..." the GameMaster starts.
"Story time!" Herobrine cheers. "Gather 'round, children. William's going to be the storyteller for today."
The GameMaster glares at Him as my friends and I cautiously walk over to sit around him in a half-circle.
"Um, well... Well, uh, technically... You see..." He takes a deep breath and looks in my direction.
"Hi, Son."
