A/N: Hi everyone! Sorry It was taking so long to update! It's been very busy! However I hope you all enjoy this chapter! Once we get through the movie I'll have more stuff so don't worry! Please leave me a review and let me know what you think!

Remember I don't own anything from Star Trek. I only own Sophie and Pike's family!

Entering sickbay Sophie took a look around the crowded area and saw crewmembers and the members of Vulcan everywhere, but she didn't see Jim.

"Sophie?" Bones said coming up to her. "Are you hurt?"

"What? Oh no. I came to see Jim." She replied.

"He's over in the corner getting his hand wrapped." Bones replied. "He'll be fine."

"Thanks Leo." She said before going to see Jim.

Approaching Jim she noticed he looked beat up, and his hand was indeed getting wrapped up.

"Jim?" she said.

He looked up out of his daze that he was in to find Sophie standing to the side looking at him worried and he sighed. "Thanks." He said to the nurse patching him up once she was done, before she moved onto the next patient.

"Come here Soph." Jim said softly.

She took a few steps forward before quickly stepping the rest of the way to Jim wrapping her arms around Jim as he sat there. Sophie felt Jim catch her and wrap his arms around her waist as she stood between his legs.

"I'm fine. I'm here." Jim spoke softly into her ear while he held her.

The two stayed like that for a while longer until Sophie removed her arms but Jim wasn't ready to let go so he kept her close, trapping her with his arms.

"What were you thinking James?" Sophie asked looking at him, but realized that was the wrong thing to say.

"I'm sorry Sophie." He responded looking down and letting go of her waist. "I just…I'm sorry."

"Jim I didn't mean it like that. Look at me Jim" Sophie said softly taking his face in her hands and lifting it to face her. "Jim you have no idea how proud of you I am. You could never disappoint me and I don't understand why you think you could or have, because you haven't. Jim you saved the ship, we thought it was a rescue mission when you knew it wasn't!"

"But Sophie…"

"No buts. I'm proud of you and don't you dare bring your father into this. He would be proud of you, trust me." She told him firmly. "What I meant was I was worried about you."

"Worried about me?" he replied wrapping his arms back around her waist again.

"Yes. We could hear everything on the transmission on the bridge. God Jim you were falling without a chute!" Sophie whispered. "I didn't think you were going to…I thought you…"

"You heard all that?" he asked looking at her.

She merely nodded. Jim sighed and pulled her closer to him before tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear for her.

"Soph?" Jim said holding her cheek in his hand. "I'm here, I'm safe."

"I know I just…I thought you weren't going to make it and I don't know if I could handle that." She whispered.

"When Sulu and I were falling, I was only thinking about one person: You." Jim confessed.

"What?" she said.

"You were the only one I could think of Sophie. I had to get back to you, I had see you again, to talk to you again, to…hold you again." Jim said ending softly as she sat on his lap side ways.

"Really?" she asked laying her head on his shoulder.

"Yeah." He replied shyly.

"I like it when you hold me." Came her whisper making Jim smile.

Jim shifted her in his lap and so they were face to face and he smiled before kissing her forehead, then her nose before looking her in the eyes and glancing at her lips.

"Jim! Sophie!" came a voice breaking them apart.

Looking up they saw it was Bones standing in front of them looking quite amused.

"What Bones?" Jim asked slightly annoyed.

"Jim." Sophie whisper to him lightly as he rolled his eyes.

"There will be time later for that, let's go the Vulcan called us up." Bones replied.

The Bridge

Upon arriving on the bridge Jim dropped his hand that he had been holding before entering along with her and Bones. Sophie went to her station that was directly left of the Captains chair and had a high chair and glass divider behind her. Bones stood next to her console while Jim, for some unknown reason sat in the Captains chair.

"Jim?" Sophie questioned raising her eyebrow at him.

Jim just shrugged before smirking at her, causing her to smile. Spock chose that moment to enter the bridge however and start talking.

"Have you confirmed that Nero is headed for Earth?" Spock asked.

"Their trajectory suggests no other destination, Captain." She reported turning to face him.

"Thank you Lieutenant."

"Earth may be his next stop, but we have to assume every Federation planet's a target." Jim said sitting in the chair.

"Out of the chair." Spock said to Jim as he walked by.

Jim got out of the chair but not before seeing Sophie smiled making him roll his eyes at her.

"Well if the Federation is the target then why didn't they destroy us?" Chekov asked.

"Why would they? Why waste the weapon, we obviously weren't a threat." Sulu added.

"That's not it. He said he wanted me to see something. The destruction of my home planet." Stated Spock.

"And how the hell did they do that by the way? Where do the Romluans get that kind of weaponry?" Bones asked.

"The engineering comprehension necessary to artificially create a black hole may suggest the answer: such technology could theoretically be manipulated to create a tunnel through space and time."

"Damnit, man, I'm a doctor, not a physicist. . .are you suggesting they're from the future?"

"If you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains - however improbable. . .must be the truth."

"How poetic." Bones replied sarcastically.

"Then what would an angry future Romulan want with Captain Pike?" Jim inquired.

"He does knows details of Starfleet's defenses." Said Sulu from his seat.

"What we need to do is catch up to that ship. Disable it, take it over and get Pike back." Stated Jim as he walked forwards.

"Fantastic." Sophie heard Bones muttered.

"We're technologically outmatched in every way. A rescue attempt would be illogical."

"Not to mention we couldn't do it anyway: Nero's ship would have to drop out of warp for us to overtake them." Chekov told them.

"Ok what about assigning Engineering crews to try and boost our warp yield?"

"Remaining power and crew are being used to repair radiation leaks on the lower decks and damage to the main deflector shield- without which we cannot communicate with Starfleet." Spock replied to Jim.

"Okay, okay, okay. But there's got to be some way!" he said slightly irritated.

"We must gather with the rest of Starfleet to balance the terms of our next engagement."

"There won't be a next engagement, Spock, by the time we've gathered, it'll be too late. How many planets are you willing to risk? You say he's from the future? Knows what's gonna happen? Then the logical thing is to be unpredictable." Said Jim trying to think.

"You're assuming Nero knows how events are predicted to unfold. The contrary Nero's very presence has altered the flow of history, beginning with the attack on the U.S.S. Kelvin, culminating in the events of today, thereby creating a new chain of incidents that cannot be anticipated by either party."

"Does anyone understand him?" Bones asked out loud.

"Are you saying there's an alternate reality?" Sophie finally said trying to understand the Vulcan.

"Precisely Lieutenant. Whatever lives we might have lived, if the time continuum was disrupted...our destinies have changed." Spock spoke to the bridge as he walked to the Captains chair. "Mr. Sulu, plot a course for the Laurentian system, Warp Factor Three."

Sophie and Bones glanced at each other, both sensing an argument that wouldn't end well about to start between Spock and Jim.

" wait…don't do that…Spock…running back to the rest of the fleet for a confab is a massive waste of time." Jim started.

"These were the orders Captain Pike issued when he left the ship."

"He also ordered us to go back and get him! Spock you're Captain now!"

"I am aware of my responsibilities Mr. Kirk."

"Every second we waste, Nero's getting closer to his next target!"

"That is correct. And I'm instructing you to accept that I am in command." Spock replied.

"I will not allow us to go backwards away from the problem, instead of hunting down Nero!" Jim exclaimed passionately.

"Security escort him out." Spock said firmly standing up.

Sophie walked up next to Bones as the security came up and took hold of Jim who was still staring down Spock. The two security guards got as far as 5 steps before Jim started to throw punches at them, getting out of their hold.

"James!" Sophie said gaining Jim's attention long enough for him to turn to face her before Spock clamped his fingers on Jim's neck performing the Vulcan pinch. Sophie let out a gasp and started to move towards Jim who laid unconscious on the floor only to find Bones holding her back.

"Get him off this ship." Spock ordered.

"Captain wait!" Sophie exclaimed as Bones let go of her. "You can't just maroon him on a planet sir."

"I can as acting Captain, and I will Lieutenant."

"It's against security protocol…" Sophie started.

"The Captain is allowed the change protocols at his discretion and will if he thinks the safety of the his crew is at risk." Spock countered.

"And you believe he," Sophie said pointing at Jim unconscious on the floor. "is a risk to the crew? He had stopped fighting when I said his name sir."

"I understand you are concern about your friend Lieutenant but you need to step down and accept my command."

"I get that you don't like Kirk, Captain, but I never thought that you would just maroon him on some planet." Sophie replied stepping towards Jim.

"Lieutenant Pace if you do not step away from Kirk I will have to remove you as well." Spock said.

"For what?" Bones asked shocked.

"For going against a Starfleet Captain's command."

"You can't be serious." Bones said looking at Sophie then the Vulcan.

"Completely."

The entire bridge had gone silent at this point and all eyes were fixed on Spock and Sophie, who was glaring at their Captain. Sophie was torn in two, she knew the logical thing to do was to stand down and let Spock kick Jim off the ship but she didn't know if it was the right thing to do. Sophie looked at Bones for any help in making her decision, she trusted him and knew he wouldn't support something if he didn't think she needed too. Bones looked torn as well before he gave a slight nod of the head towards Jim that nobody saw but her and she understood perfectly.

"Then remove me Captain, but I stand with Jim. I can't let you kick him off." Sophie said quietly and calmly.

"Very well." Spock said sensing this was going to be her reaction. "Security remove this two from this ship."

"Captain, one more request." Sophie asked, "Do that Vulcan pinch thing on me would you? I don't exactly want to feel the pod slamming into the surface of the planet you are sending us to."

Bones and Uhura had to hide their smiles as Spock cocked his head in confusion to the request before nodding his head.

"Very well." And with that he griped her neck and her world went blank.
