The security team, Scotty, Jim and Sophie finally arrive on the bridge and they release the three before Spock who had walked up to them. Sophie looked around and spotted Bones not to far and shrugged in responds to his questioningly look.
"Who are you?" Spock questions Scotty.
"I'm with them." Scotty says about Jim and Sophie as Jim replied at the same time, "He's with us."
"We're traveling at warp speed, how did you manage to beam aboard this ship?" Spock demanded.
"You're the genius you figure it out." Jim replied in a cocky manner.
"As acting Captain of this vessel I'm ordering you to answer me."
"Well, I'm not telling…acting Captain." Jim said with a slight smirk. "Does that frustrate you? My lack of cooperation... does it make you angry?"
Spock completely ignores Jim and focuses on Scotty and Sophie. "You are not a member of this ship's crew. Under penalty of court martial, I order you to explain to me how you beamed ab…"
"Don't answer him." Jim ordered them both.
"You will answer me." Spock told them.
"I'd rather not take sides." Scotty replied looking between the two. "Can I get a towel though?"
"Don't look at me." Sophie told Spock when he turned to her. "I'm with Jim. I mean you did maroon me on a planet too."
"What is it with you Spock? Your planet was just destroyed, your mother murdered and…your not even upset." Jim said getting closer to Spock.
"Your presumption that these experiences interfere with my abilities to command this ship is mistake…" Spock starts to say.
"And yet you said fear was necessary for command. I mean - did you see that ship? Did you see what he did?"
"Yes of course I did." Spock replied tense.
"So are you afraid or aren't you!?"
"I will not... allow you to lecture me about the merits of emotion."
"Then why don't you stop me." Jim replied stepping even closer as Sophie started to get nervous.
"Step away from me Mr…"
"What is it like? Not to feel? Anger. Or heartbreak. Or the need to stop at nothing to avenge the death of the woman who gave birth to you?!" Jim shouted his in face.
"Back away…"
" You must not feel anything! It must not even compute for you! You must not have loved her at all!" Jim yelled one last time in his face before Spock let out a scream and hit Jim square in the face causing him to stumble backwards a little.
Spock then grabbed Jim and threw him around and towards the helm of the ship as Jim tried to defend himself, but Spock was in a fit of rage and him couldn't compare to him. Sophie went to after him but Scotty stopped her and silently reminded her of what needed to happen. She sighed before rushing over to Bones and standing next to him as they watched Spock repeatedly hit Jim over and over before holding him down in a death grip on his throat that would kill him. Sophie tensed next to Bones as they all watched in horror that Spock was going to kill Jim.
"Spock." His father said as he watched him hold Jim down.
The bridge was entirely silent as Spock took a few moments before releasing Jim as he choked for air. Spock turned around to and walked to Bones and Sophie stopping in front of them.
"Doctor. I am no longer fit for duty. I hereby relinquish my command on the grounds that I have been... emotionally compromised. Please note the time and date in the ship's log." Spock told Bones before walking off the bridge with his father right behind him.
"I like this ship. It's exciting." Scotty said breaking the silence after a few minutes causing Sophie to roll her eyes.
"Congratulations, Jim. Now we've got no Captain and no first officer to goddamn replace him." Bones told Jim sarcastically.
"Yeah we do." Jim replied after regaining his breath and standing up. He headed towards the Captain's chair before sitting down in it.
"Pike made his first officer." Sulu informed the bridge.
"You gotta be kidding me." Bones replied like it was some kind of joke.
"Lenoard." Sophie hissed.
"Thanks for the support." Jim said nodding his head a little.
"I sure hope you know what you're doing…Captain." Uhura said to Jim biting out Captain.
"So do I." Jim muttered to himself.
"Jim." Sophie said causing him to look up at her to see her smiling at him, reassuring that he could do this. "No matter what."
Jim smiled back at her realizing what she meant, that she was proud no matter what.
"What a minute you actually trust him." Uhura said to Sophie not believing her roommate and friend.
"Yes I do." She simply said.
"Why? When all he's done so far is screw up!" she replied.
Sophie turned fully towards her friend, her anger catching up with her when it was about her best friend. "He has never screwed up in my eyes. Yes he may do things a little unconventionally, not by the rules, but I trust him with my life. I always have and always will trust him." She said irritated.
"And whys that? What'd he do save your life or something?" Uhura replied sarcastically.
"Yes! He did save my life 12 years ago, and since that time I will always trust James. No matter what anyone says, J…James is the man I trust." Sophie said angrily.
"Soph I didn't save…" Jim said softly from the Captain's chair where him was watching them.
"James Tiberius Kirk don't you dare correct me on that." Sophie said threatening him.
Jim raised an eyebrow, "Sorry, continue." He replied slightly afraid of her.
"Jim?" Bones said confused.
"What? I'd rather have a mad Uhura then a mad Sophie. Trust me." Jim told him.
Sophie rolled her eyes before looking back at Uhura. "I don't care if you trust Jim or not, but there are things in our past that no one knows about and I frankly it's none of your business. And you know damn well as I do that when Spock marooned me and Jim on that God forsaken planet he was emotionally compromised, so don't you dare question me about who I trust when I never questioned you about trusting Spock."
Uhura looked at her friend hard and long before nodding her head slowly, to which Sophie nodded back smiling a little.
"Women." Bones muttered shaking his head.
"Are you done Sophie?" Jim asked looking at her expectantly with a smile.
"Yes." She replied looking at him.
"Good. Bones will you take a look at her please." Jim asked. "We ran into some unpleasant creatures down there and I'm sure she's hurt and not telling me."
"Sure thing kid. Come on Soph." Bones replied.
"Came you just look at me up?"
"Oh alright." Bones gave him walking her over to an empty seat. "You are just as stubborn as him you know?"
"You love me for it." She replied quietly joking to Bones as Jim started an announcement to the whole crew.
"Attention crew of the Enterprise. This is James Kirk. Mr. Spock has resigned commission and advanced me to acting Captain. I know you were all expecting to regroup with the fleet, but I've ordered a pursuit course of the enemy ship to Earth. I want all departments at battle stations and ready in ten minutes. Either we're going down, or they are. Kirk out."
