A/N: So sorry for not updating sooner! Life got away from me! I have a few other chapters written after this but I'm still working on the rest of the story! Don't worry it's coming! Entering his ready room Jim found Sophie sitting on the couch with Kevin while Bones checked Amanda out on the chair across from them.
"How is she Bones?" Jim asked coming to sit on the other side of Sophie.
"Well," Bones started looking up at Jim after he was done examining her. "A few bruises, some cuts and broken rib. Far easier to take care of then you."
Jim rolled his eyes. "Thanks." He replied sarcastically.
"Should be good as new in a few hours. I'm assuming you want me to take care of it up here?"
"If you would." Jim replied.
"Not a problem. I think I kept a kit up here somewhere." Bones said starting too look around Jim's office.
"The cabinet over there Leo." Sophie replied nodding in the direction.
Bones grunted a thank you and then got to work on Amanda. Ten minutes later she was good as new and situated in the chair across from Jim. Bones now sat in the chair next to her while he passed out juice and water to everyone.
"So," Amanda started practically bouncing in her seat. "Are you two together?"
Jim, Sophie and Bones all laughed at the girl as they saw the excitement in her eyes. "Yes Mandy. Sophie and I are together." Jim replied smiling and squeezing Sophie's hand that was in his. "And we do have something else to tell you but we can do that in a minute."
"Yes right now we need to know what you two were told before coming up board the Enterprise." Sophie asked them.
Kevin and Amanda exchanged quick looks at each other before Kevin answered, "They didn't tell us much. Just that we were in danger and that Tom was safe. We figure it had to do with Tarsus but they didn't come out and say it." Kevin told them in a somber voice.
"Tom?" Jim said disbelieving. "Tom's fine?"
"Yeah they said he was safe and were sending extra security to wherever he is."
"Thank God." Sophie said softly leaning into Jim before realizing something and almost bumping her head with Jim's as she turned towards him. "Jim…does that mean…"
Jim nodded his head slowly. "Yeah Soph." he said quietly.
"Mean what?" Amanda asked confused.
"Maybe we should start at the beginning Jim."
"Alright." Jim said before taking a deep breath and explaining, with Sophie's help what the Admiral and told them. Leaving out the video of course knowing it would bring back horrible memories for anyone. When he was done explaining Amanda had moved over to Jim and was now practically in his lap, her face buried in his neck from fear while Kevin sat with a blank face on with Sophie's arm around him.
"Sh-h-h Mandy." Jim said quietly holding her tight look at Sophie sighing.
"So he's…he's back?" Kevin breathed.
"Yes." Sophie answered softly.
"And he wants revenge on us…so we can't indentify him?"
Sophie nodded again.
"Oh my…does that mean Julian, Max and Karina are…"
"Dead." Jim replied his voice flat and hard as Amanda tightened her hold on him. "But that's not going to happen to you. I'm not going to let that happen."
"No one is going to hurt you two ok?" Sophie agreed with him.
The four of them sat there silently on the couch for several more minutes as Bones sat quietly watching them. The air in the room was quite somber and serious and Sophie thought perhaps they needed to lift the tension before the senior officers came in. She leaned over towards Jim and whispered something in his ear making him smile before pulling away. Jim shifted Amanda so that she was sitting in between Sophie and him and smiled at her wiping the last of her tears away.
"In about 10 minutes my senior officers are going to come in, they also happen to be some of our close friends. Who also tend to be quite nosy and persistent about what is going on. So we'll be explaining everything to them when they come but right now Sophie and I have one more thing to tell you two." Jim explained to Kevin and Amanda.
"What's that?" Kevin asked cautiously.
"Nothing bad." Sophie said reading his face smiling.
"Give me one minute and we'll tell you two." Jim said before calling Uhura. "Lieutenant could you please get Admiral Pike on the line, and please encrypt it."
"Yes sir. Anything else?"
"No but be ready in about 10 minutes."
"Yes sir." She replied before cutting the line.
Not even 2 minutes later did a beeping noise sound in his ready room and Jim went over to the screen that faced them and pressed a button allowing a video of Chris Pike to come onto the screen.
"Kirk." Pike said greeting him formally seeing as they had guests.
"Chris." Jim nodded letting him know it was ok to not be so formal here.
"Hi Chris." Sophie said from her position on the couch.
"Hi Sophie, McCoy." Pike said looking around at them as Bones nodded back.
"I'm so sorry Jim, Sophie I wasn't told about what was happening until 2 hours ago and by that time Jon was already talking to you. Otherwise I would have done it myself…privately from what I heard happened." Pike started off apologizing.
"I know." Jim replied. "Anyways, Chris I'd like you to meet Kevin Riley and Amanda Sata. Guys this is Admiral Christopher Pike, who also happens to be good friend of ours."
"Hello Admiral." Kevin said formally and Amanda just sat there next to Sophie and smiled.
"Listen Chris, Sophie and I are meeting with my officers soon and we're telling them…not everything but most of what is going on. Bones knows now and if you'd like I think Sophie wouldn't mind if you sat in and listen to it as well. And yes you can tell Andrea and them if you'd like." Jim replied.
"Only if you want me there." Chris answered.
"Yes Chris. We do." Sophie said agreeing with Jim.
"Very well. Now you want to tell me why you called me early to just say that?"
"Right!" Jim said smiling. "Sophie and I have something to tell you all. Are you at home? Is Andrea there with you?"
"Um yeah…hold on." Chris said going off the screen and getting his wife before popping back in with her next to him.
"Jim, Sophie! Oh sweeties it's so good to hear from you." Andrea immediately said.
"Hi Andrea." Sophie said smiling. "Did Chris tell you everything?"
"He did. I'm so sorry. I wish I was there right now with you two."
"We're fine, for now." Sophie said getting up to stand next to Jim. "Anyways we have something we'd like to tell all of you."
"What's that?" Chris asked confused.
"Well Bones already knows but as of last night," Jim started to say grabbing Sophie around the waist and holding up her left hand where there was clearly a ring on it. "I now have a fiancé."
The room was deathly silent for a good minute before Andrea screamed in delight, as did Amanda who ran up to hug them both.
"You finally asked her huh?" Chris said beaming next to his wife.
Jim nodded smiling.
"Oh congratulations you two." Andrea said starting to get all teary eyed.
"You two really getting married?" Kevin said from his position on the couch. "Congrats."
Kevin got up and hugged them both as Amanda was examining the ring Jim got Sophie. Bones sat there smiling and happy couple and couldn't think of a better time this engagement came at.
"And we were thinking," Jim said talking to everyone again. "That we'd get married on our next shore leave to Earth."
"Really?" Bones said from his seat. "You didn't tell me that."
"Well it makes sense Leo. Hopefully we'll get shore leave on Earth after this whole mess is over with and well…" she said trailing off looking at Jim.
"We'd like you to marry us Chris." Jim finished for her.
"Me?"
"Yeah. We don't want a big wedding. Maybe some of the crew, you all, Kevin and Amanda and possibly Tom if we can find him." Jim replied.
"Alright." Pike answered him grinning, "I think we can arrange that."
"Thank you." Sophie said smiling up at Jim.
"Good now. Let's get on with that meeting. Bones could you go get them please." Jim asked him.
"Yeah yeah make me do all the leg work." He grumbled going out to get the officers.
Bones was gone less then 4 minutes before he came back into to the room to find Sophie and Jim at the head of the conference table with Kevin on one side and Amanda on the other. Pike's video screen opposite them, so Bones took a seat next to Amanda knowing she would probably feel uncomfortable sitting next to strangers. Next Bones sat Scotty, and Sulu while across from them were Uhura, Spock and Chekov. Once everyone was situated Jim spoke up.
"Thank you all for coming. I bet you are quite curious as to what is going on." Jim started to say as they all nodded and hummed in agreement. "Well we'll fix that. I assume you all know Admiral Pike and that his is lovely wife Andrea. And here beside me is Kevin and Amanda…" Jim added as he went around and introduced his command crew to everyone. Finally when everyone was done being introduced Jim took charge again. "Good. Now that we all know each other let's get on with it. First Sophie and I have some good news for you."
"Really Captain?" Sulu asked curious as to what it was.
"Yes Sulu. We'd well…we'd like all of you to know that whenever this mission is over and we have shore leave next on Earth that you are all invited to our wedding." Sophie replied smiling at Jim who had slipped his arm around her.
"What!" Scotty shouted from the other end of the table. "You're getting' hitched?"
"Yes Scotty we're getting hitched." Jim said laughing as Sophie showed them all her ring.
"I'm so happy for you!" Uhura said smiling brightly at them.
The next few minutes were then spent congratulating the newly engaged couple and talking about her ring, which he had picked out after the Nero disaster a year ago knowing he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.
"Alright alright." Jim said getting the chatter down. "Now that we have that out let's get to the reason we called you all in here. As I'm sure you all know Kevin and Amanda here with 2 of the surviving 9 of Tarsus." He saw them nodded their heads in agreement. "Good. What you are probably confused about is their reaction to Sophie and I. So to clear up the assumption you probably formed in your heads the answer is yes. Sophie and I were on Tarsus." Jim concluded seeing most the his command team's faces turn to shock except of course Spock who remained neutral.
"More specifically Jim and I were part of the Tarsus Nine." Sophie added quietly. "Remember when Admiral Archer said they couldn't locate JT or Fee? Well…here we are."
