Hey, I'm so sorry it has taken me so long to update this story. Lets just say that I was super busy with school and work and now that I'm done with school I have more time for this story. I hope you enjoy this chapter and I might have a prequel to this story started and posted sometime in the near future.

Chapter 18

Sam woke to the sound of a baby crying. She went to sit up, but strong arms around her waist kept her down. The arms then squeezed her tighter before they released her.

"I'll go get Max, you stay and rest a little more," Jake mumbled before he got out of bed.

She sighed as she rolled over and tried to go back to sleep. Sam was just about to go back to her dream when she heard the clatter of pots and pans. With a grunt she got out of bed. When she made it downstairs she saw that Jake had Max in his high chair while he cooked some eggs. Once Max saw Sam he started to cry wanting out of his high chair.

"Oh, does someone want mommy," Sam said grabbing Max.

"I thought I told you to sleep in."

"Well someone was making too much noise making breakfast," she replied snaking an arm around his waist.

"Sorry," Jake replied. "I was going to bring you breakfast in bed."

Sam stood on her tiptoes and kissed his neck. Max then started to tug on Sam shirt.

"Well, considering the fact that someone is hungry I wouldn't have been able to sleep longer anyways."

She then sat down at the kitchen table and started to breastfeed Max. Sam watched Jake while he finished making breakfast. He put the teakettle on the stove to start boiling the water while he dished up their breakfasts. By the time he put the plates on the table Max was done with his feeding.

"The water is done," Sam said before she started to burp Max.

"Lady Gray or Earl Gray?" Jake asked.

"Lady."

"So what are your plans for today?" Jake asked bringing her tea to the table.

"I'm taking Max into town to meet up with Darrell. He's picking a ring out for Jen."

"So he is finally going to propose."

"Yep, and after we go to town I'm dropping him off with Gram so I have time to work with the horses today. And we could have some alone time."

"That sounds like a good idea. It feels like forever since we had time for just the two of us."

"It's only been four months," Sam laughed.

"Four amazing months with this little guy," Jake said taking Max and putting him down into a rocking crib. He then turned on the music to distract Max while they ate.

"I just can't wait for Max to have a little buddy to play with. Oh and what if Darrell and Jen have a girl and our kids fall in love with each other? Or what if they have a boy and we end up having a girl in the future?"

"Hey, we already have our hands full with our first child. I think it will be a while before we have our next."

"Okay, but I do want to have a girl."

"We'll see."
