He'll never fall in love, he swears

As he runs his fingers through his hair

I'm laughing cause I hope he's wrong

And I don't think I ever crossed his mind

He tells a joke, I fake a smile

But I know all his favorite songs

"Jen! How are you?" I heard a voice say as soon as I came in, and looking around my eyes met that of Dannys girlfriend, Charlotte. Faking a smile, I mustered up some comment before running upstairs to try and find some decent clothes, well when I say decent I mean that they fitted me and were dry. Pulling on a tight plain white t-shirt and my jeans, I glanced at my reflection in the mirror. I looked like a drowned rat. The air con in the car had dried it out a bit but it still looked like hell. And I hadn't brought my hairdryer with me either!

"Can I come in?" I heard a voice from behind the door, and I muttered "yeah".

"Do you have a hairdryer?" I asked as Tom wandered in.

"In my room." He replied, nodding towards the door opposite my room. "Better mirror in there too." I didn't need to be told twice. I stood up and followed him across the hall, then watched as he retrieved the hairdryer from the mess and plugged it in.

"How come she's here?" I asked and Tom glanced at me questioningly. "Char, I mean." I clarified.

"Because she's your brother's girlfriend and he claims he loves her." I snorted at that. I mean, Danny loving anyone other than himself was impossible. "He's an idiot. I'll never fall in love" He swore as he ran his fingers through his hair, and I forced a laugh, just praying that wasn't true.

"No?" I asked quietly.

"Nah, it's overrated." He told me as he picked up his guitar and started strumming.

"What about Sofie?" I asked as I turned the dryer on and started trying to dry my hair.

"Ah she'll do for now." He dismissed her offhandedly. "I'm not into the long-term thing, you know?"

"Yeah." I replied sadly, gazing at his reflection on the mirror. Why did I have to fall for him when he was such an arsehole at times? But I was sure I could change his mind, I mean maybe he hadn't found the right person yet, maybe he had to grow up a bit, but I could do that, I could make him see...Oh god who was I kidding? There was no way he was gonna be interested in me. I mean, look at me. I'm plain, ordinary, nowhere near as good looking as the girls he shagged on a regular basis. The ones he was snapped falling out of clubs with. They were all long legged models. And me? I was a short-arsed frizzy haired girl, I wasn't a size 6 or whatever, I was never likely to be an object of desire to anyone, let alone him.

"We ready to rock and roll?" He asked when I'd turned the hairdryer off, and then he strummed a rocky tune on the guitar. Faking a smile, I let him help me up, and he led me into the hall. Stopping when I got to the door of my room, I told him that I'd catch him up, just needed to get something first. And honestly, I did. Sounds sad, but I'd made a CD of all his favourite songs, and I'd brought it, maybe I could play it downstairs and make him see how much we had in common. I mean, if Sofie was only for now anyway, it wouldn't make a big difference, would it?
