Skyrim is the property of Bethesda Softworks. Thank you SoulVoid87, Storm's Shadow, Ranch14, and Flash fanfic with The Gods (that's one hell of a name) for the favorites and follows. My particular gratitude goes to Chris the Metis for is regular feedback.

I found myself in a stand of birch trees. Slivery grey columns supported the pale green leaves. Across a narrow, swift-flowing river I saw tall pines climbing the hills in the distance. Above me a golden dragon soared. The light he cast winked through the leaves like threads of polished gold. He flew lazily to the west, beating the sun at its own game.

"Father wait!" I called, standing on leaden legs to follow him.

I staggered through the interminable white columns. They began to blur and sway. The dragon above roared in the sky.

I found myself at the foot of a steep hill. The dragon circled high above. He roared again. I nodded, too winded to call out my obedience and began to crawl up the hill. The scent of cool earth came from the turf beneath my fingers.

"Father!" I whispered, "I'm coming."

The dragon roared in reply and inched higher into the sky. My sight grew darker, the world less colorful.

At the top of the hill, I could go no further. I flopped over to my back. My left arm felt like fire and was slick with blood. The broken ribs were in the center of a bruise the size of a dinner plate that changed from grey to blue to green to yellow as it shifted back and forth over my chest. I coughed and tasted blood. I raised my right hand to block the harsh light coming from above me. The world went dark with the effort. The pains in my body abated. Father-Hunter-Guide roared above Dragon-Child one last time.

"Akatosh" is almost certainly a corruption of his actual name (Paarthurnax calls him "Bormah" as well as Akatosh). I know it's a stretch, but with some umm... creativity in how you sound out the syllables on the Uesp Wiki page ak-ah-tosh could translate to "Father-Hunter-Guide" or "Father-Who-Came-Before". Both of which would be appropriate given what Akatosh is.

Thanks for reading I Dragonborn. If you're interested in getting to know Ieago a little better, I strongly encourage you to check out my previous story I Companion. I just spent the last few hours editing and updating it so I don't wince quite so often while reading it.
