The love we shared just stayed the same

She crept into the house silently, heading upstairs to their bedroom where she found the door open slightly.

She smiled at the sight of his sleeping form, his shoulders gently rising and falling as he slept.

She changed out of the clothes she had been wearing for the last 14 hours and pulled on his shirt that hung on the back of the closet door.

Inhaling the lingering scent of his cologne, before getting into the bed with him putting her arm around him as she propped herself up against his pillow and kissed the nape of his neck while she ran her fingers against his chest.

'Elena?'.

He asks questioning himself as he feels the familiar touch against his skin but he is unsure whether he is dreaming this feeling or that she is truly there with him.

The touch stills as he turns around to find her doe eyes on his face and a warm smile on her perfect lips, leaning forward as she kisses him as he cups her cheek in his hand rubbing his thumb gently against her jaw.

'What are you doing home?'.

He asks as she pulls back.

'I simply couldn't be apart from you any longer and I was driving Jenna crazy with the amount of times I said I missed you'.

She told him with a small laugh and he dipped his head to kiss her shoulder.

'I missed you too'.

Even though she was happy to have an escape from London and Esther's lie.

The moment she walked into her apartment, it didn't feel right and she ended up spending her first night back in Mystic Falls at his apartment.

Finding his bed still unmade the way they had left it before they had left, after being around him constantly for the last two weeks.

Waking up beside him in the morning and then falling asleep with his arms around her night, she was finding herself wondering if she was ready for them to take another step forward in their relationship.

Looking at him deeply as he sat up as she draped her leg over his hip, leaning forward her hand tilting his chin upwards, her lips a breath away from his.

'What?'.

He asks as she looks into his eyes and she smiles.

'Nothing, I missed this'.

She whispered moving her hand to his hair as he ran his hand up her arm.

'Elena'.

She shivered as he brushed his lips against her neck, looking down at him.

'I missed this'.

She gasps as he nips at her skin, his hands gently remove his shirt from her body.

It's silly how he finds himself marvelling at her bare skin before him, he looks up at her and finds her gazing at him before leaning forward to finally kiss him like she had intended too.

Her hand tracing every inch of him as he held her in a way that made her gasp his name, each movement slow yet passionate.

Reminding the other of what they had missed over the last 6 days they had been apart.

'When you told me that we would be spending the morning together this isn't what I had in mind'.

Stefan complained as he sat in the changing room of Victoria's Secret.

'I thought you'd enjoy a trip to Victoria's Secret'.

Rebekah teased her head appearing from behind the curtain to look at Stefan.

'I'm not complaining about Victoria's Secret, I'm complaining because I know this won't be the only changing room I going to have to wait in, it's never one shop with you'.

Rebekah sighed as she stepped out of the changing room in a silk dressing gown, leaning down in front of Stefan.

'This will be the only shop I promise'

She told him placing a kiss to his lips and he nodded as she stood up opening the dressing gown to reveal a silk bra with lace edges.

'Do you like this on me?'.

She asked.

'I like it a lot'.

He replied with a smirk and she laughed as she heard voice coming toward the changing room.

As Rebekah pulls back the curtain a man and his girlfriend walk into the changing room, the man sitting beside Stefan as his girlfriend disappears into changing room beside Rebekah's.

'Girlfriend, drag you here?'.

The man asks starting conversation with Stefan who shakes his head.

'No much worse my wife'.

He replies loud enough for Rebekah to hear.

'I heard that'.

She snaps and he chuckles.

'We shouldn't really complain whatever they buy it's for our eyes only'.

The man comments and Stefan nods.

'That is a valid point'.

Stefan replies as Rebekah's hand appears from behind the curtain and she waves her finger at him suggestively.

'Stefan I need you'.

She tells him her hand disappearing behind the curtain and Stefan can't help but smirk as he stands up.

'Duty calls'.

The man says with a chuckle as Stefan disappears into the changing room with Rebekah.

She is standing facing the mirror turning her body in different angles as he stands in front of him in black Chantilly lace bra with matching panties and garter belt.

His eyes running across her curves as he comes up behind her his hands resting on her thighs and she smiles.

'I'm not sure about this, I think it's too much'.

She tells him as he kisses the side of her neck.

'It's not too much, I think it's enough'.

He whispers lowly in her ear as he skims his fingers along the edge of the garter belt.

'Really you like this'.

She asks as leans back into his body, hand running up the front of his jeans so that he pulls her hand away and holds it to her side.

'If there wasn't another couple in here I would take you against this mirror and show you how much I like it'.

He tells her as he spins her round to face him and kisses her deeply, her hands in his hair before she pushes him away catching her breath.

'Okay, call me convinced'.

She kisses him once softly before pushing him away and he turns looking back at her once before leaving her to change.

As he sits back down the man looks up from his phone with knowing look and chuckles.

'We complain but we love it'.

A few minutes later Rebekah appears fully dressed with her choices discreetly hidden from sight as she goes to say something to Stefan she looks at the man beside him.

'Marcel'.

Stefan looks at her as she speaks and then at the man beside him who is she is clearly talking to as he looks at her.

'Rebekah, it's good to see you'.

Marcel replies as she comes to stand by Stefan.

'I'd say I'm surprised to find you here but I'm not after all you did have a thing for lingerie models or your best friend's girl'.

Marcel chuckled, she was still as sassy as he remembered.

'Still as feisty as ever I see'.

'Always'.

She commented back looking at Stefan who was still at a lost to who Marcel was.

'Stefan this is Marcel, he was Nikklaus best friend before he found you, Marcel this is my husband Stefan'.

The two men shook hands before Marcel spoke again.

'You know me and your brother are on speaking terms again'.

'Well Nik is in a much better place, clearly he just needed to be away from this city and the people in it, he mentioned that you've gone into the club business and again I wasn't surprised you did throw one hell of party'.

Marcel chuckled and nodded.

'I still do, how about you come and check one out?'.

Stefan cleared his throat.

'Not like that my newest club is opening tonight, you should come tell your brothers, they can bring their ladies, make a night of it.

VIP treatment only the best for old friends'.

Rebekah looked at him and then at Stefan before looking back at Marcel.

'I wouldn't exactly call as friends but I'll ask them and get Nik to give you a call, anyway it was good to see you'.

Marcel nodded as Rebekah smiled as Stefan put his arm around her waist as they left the changing room.

'I still can't believe Kol of all people planned a secret romantic getaway from him and Bonnie without once letting the cat out of the bag'.

Caroline commented as she sat on the edge of the bath while Klaus lay back in the bath with Lydia resting against his chest as her arms out against his shoulders, head resting on his chest her eyes focused on Caroline.

Lydia didn't usually have baths with her parents but she had come down with the flu the night before and she put up a fight when they had attempted to give her bath on her own, so Klaus had got into the bath with her too calm her down which seemed to work as she started to yawn.

She hadn't sleep for more than 6 hours.

'What can I say it seems that Bonnie has shown my brother to be the romantic he claims not to be'.

Klaus replied as he placed a hand to Lydia's temple as he poured water onto her hair with the other which made Lydia shiver and let out a whimpering cry.

'It's okay'.

Klaus whispered as he sat up cradling Lydia to his chest as Caroline held out a towel wrapping it around Lydia before taking her out of the bath from her father who also needed a towel which Caroline handed to him before she carried Lydia out of the room turning back as he wrapped the towel around his hips and smiling to herself.

While Klaus changed out his wet sweat pants, he could hear Caroline humming to Lydia as she dried and dressed her.

Caroline looked at Klaus as he walked out of the bathroom and sat on his side of the bed.

She passed Lydia to him who felt much cooler than before and seemed more settled.

'I'm going to warm up some milk for her'.

He shook his head as Lydia let out another small yawn and rubbed her eyes.

'I don't think she's going to need it'.

He replied as he looked at their daughter, he stood up and walked over to her cot which they had brought into their room as not to risk Noah getting ill too.

As soon as Lydia clutched at her fleece blanket, she let out a small sigh and her eyes drifted shut and Klaus looked at Caroline.

'I don't we'll be hearing for her for a while'.

He whispered turning on the baby monitor and hocking the other to the waistband of his sweats as Caroline picked up all the damp clothes.

He followed Caroline out of the door, leaving it open slightly.

'Have you returned Carol's call?'.

Klaus asked as Caroline loaded up the washing machine with their clothes and shrugged.

'No and I'm not going too, I'm still on vacation'.

'Caroline'.

She turned to look at him, her hand on her hip.

'I thought you would be happy, once I call her or acknowledge that I'm working with her, that will be it, you will lose me to her, she will always call me with her demands or tell me something that I'm doing isn't right.

So please don't Caroline me and just enjoy the fact that you have your wife for the next two weeks because once we board that plane and headed back to Mystic Falls, this version of us will be fleeting memory'.

She said with a sigh as she turned away from and he walked over to his hand resting on her lower back.

'This isn't about the job, why are you so angry?'.

She shook her head.

'I'm not angry, disappointed yes but not angry'.

'Disappointed?'.

'Yes, disappointed we're supposed to be trying for another baby'.

'Supposed to be, correct me if I'm wrong but we have been trying, Caroline we tried in the airport bathroom and on the plane'.

'Perks of first class but you know what I mean I don't want to put our family to second to my job'.

'Then don't, Carol knows you as the girl who was afraid of her, she under estimated you like most people do.

She hasn't met this stronger, confident, sexier version of the girl I fell in love with'.

Caroline smiled as she felt his hands on her hips as he picked up and put her on the kitchen side, standing between her legs as she hooked her legs around him keeping him there.

'You always know the right things to say?'.

She told him as he ran his nose along the side of her neck and chuckled against her neck.

'I know the right things to say to you, I haven't always been able to say the right things'.

'I don't believe that for a second'.

'Believe it or not it's true, you changed me'.

He told her honestly.

'Besides you're the one who really knows the right things to say'.

He told her.

Caroline had lay in bed, her eyes wide open as she stared out of the window, listening to the roll of thunder as it rumbles in the sky and then the sky is brought to life by crack of lightening.

It had been like this for most of the week, not a ray of sunshine had filled Mystic Falls and it didn't look like it would be anytime soon.

She was alone in the house, her mother had gone away for her sisters bachelorette party leaving Caroline alone for the weekend not that she knew this Caroline had told her mother she would be spending the weekend at Elena's.

She liked having the house to herself it had only happened once before when she had planned the perfect night for her and Tyler back when she thought that Tyler was the person she was ready to give herself to completely looking back it now.

It was a good thing that Tyler hadn't been first considering their relationship ended less than two months later.

Rising from her bed to look out of the window, following the trail of a raindrop with her finger as it rolls down her window.

She stares up at the dark sky and sighs as the door knocks.

Klaus doesn't know why he is there, well yes he does know but he doesn't know if she will be there but when she walks out of her room and stands in her hallway staring at him for a moment before coming to the door.

She opens the door, gesturing for him to come in before closing it behind her.

'What are you doing here?'.

She asks the last time she saw him they had got into an argument about Tyler which ended up with her storming out into the rain and this had been only fours ago.

'I wanted to apologise for the things I said to you about Tyler'.

He told her looking up from the floor at her first.

'I didn't expect this after what we said to each other'.

'I didn't mean what I said I was angry and I took it out on you'.

'That's the thing you got angry over a conversation between me and Rebekah about sex, I don't understand why it's such a big deal to you whether Tyler was my first or not'.

She snapped and he nodded.

It was true, he had been walking past Rebekah's room when he could hear the hushed tones of Rebekah and Caroline's conversation.

He had no right truly to be mad about whether Caroline had lost her virginity to Tyler but he was crazy about her more than he wanted to be and the thought of her being with Tyler just made his blood boil.

'What I wanted to say didn't come out right, I didn't understand how you could give yourself over to completely, you deserved to be with some who can see how special you are and that's what I wanted you to know'.

He told her realising that she didn't seem to have anything to say back or seemed distracted and he wondered if she was truly alone.

'I should go'.

He told her as he turned back for the door but he felt her hand on his arm and he looked back at her.

'Tyler and I never slept together'.

She confessed and he looked at her.

'What?'.

'I'm still a virgin, Tyler and I sure we'd been close to that but I wanted to be more than just a quick fumble in the back of his car which is most probably why he found it somewhere else.

I know that my life isn't a movie and that my first time I won't see stars but I wanted it to be with the person I loved and I thought that would have been Tyler but it wasn't and now I'm terrified of finding someone I want to be with and having these doubts all over again'.

She told him, he could tell that she was avoiding making eye contact with him after her sudden confession.

'Tyler didn't deserve you'.

She looked up to find him closer to her than she remembered him being, his eyes on her face while she couldn't stop looking at his lips, so close to her own.

'Don't'.

She told him and he looked at her.

'Why do you care you don't want me'.

She replied back as she felt him step forward again and she took a step back.

'I do, I want to be with you in every way Tyler wasn't'.

'We can't I'm 17, your 21, I'm not supposed to like you the way I do and you can do better than me'.

'Don't do that, I know what's like to be hurt Caroline, I do I shouldn't want to be close to you, it's not in my nature to get close to people, I've done it once before and I swore I would never do it again then I met you'.

He touches her face with his hand stroking the softness of her cheek and she closes her eyes at his touch, as his other hand comes to her waist.

He's not trying to push this any further but he wants her closer to him.

She feels him brush his lips against her but she doesn't react, she is scared he is going to realise that is a mistake and push her away.

He feels her lips slowly reacting to his own as her hand moves to his own waist, he can feel her hand shaking and pulls back to look at her.

Her eyes still closed lips parted slightly.

Honestly he shouldn't be doing this but he ran before from London from the people, his choices and his lose but he won't run not now.

His lips claim her own a second time, he smiles against her lips as she feels him stroke the stubble of his jaw before gently sucking his bottom lip as his hold on her on her waist tightens, she lets out a small gasp as the kiss deepens and her hands in his hair.

'If you didn't kiss me that night, do you think we would have found our way to each other?'.

Caroline asked as Klaus moved her hair from her face and kissed her cheek.

'I don't know but I do know this'.

His hand coming under her t-shirt to touch her stomach.

'I know that I love you'.

'I love too'.

'I don't want to leave this room'.

Elena whispered as relaxed on the bed while Elijah's talented hands worked out all the tension in her shoulders.

'Unfortunately we will have to leave this room at some point'.

He replied his lips moving against her neck and she sighed.

'I know just wishful thinking but I must say I am a little bit jealous Bonnie is in Paris'

She told him turning her head to look at him.

'I can arrange a little romance as long as you don't plan on leaving me again'.

'I don't plan on going anywhere unless you're taking me'.

She replied as she looked into his eyes with a smile.

'So Nik you'll never guess who we ran into'.

Rebekah told her brother who looked at her as she walked into the living room disturbing him and Caroline who were in the middle of watching a movie.

'Who?'.

Klaus asked looking at Rebekah while Stefan sat down.

'Marcel'.

'Where did you see him?'.

Klaus asked watching his sister who smiled.

'Victoria's Secret, not that I was surprised, he invited us to the opening of his new club tonight and I've been thinking we haven't exactly had a night out since we've been here'.

Rebekah commented as she sat next to Stefan.

'Your right, you should go out'.

'Nik he invited all of us?'.

Klaus nodded as he looked at Caroline.

'I know he did but I think if anyone deserves a night out it's you ladies, so I think you should go have fun'.

'Lydia?'.

Klaus laughed kissing Caroline's temple.

'Give me some credit love, I can look after our daughter'.

'I know you can but'.

'No but Klaus is right you girls should have a night out and we can have father/daughter/uncle night'.

Rebekah and Caroline looked at each other with matching smiles before look.

'So who will be the one to break up the Elijah/Elena reunion'?

Caroline asked and Stefan looked back at her.

'Elena's home'.

Rebekah and Caroline laughed, while Klaus nodded with a chuckle.

'Yes, I saw her sneaking in at 5:30 this morning'.

'Then they woke me and Klaus up less than 30 minutes later'.

Caroline said with a sound of disgust which made Stefan and Rebekah laugh.

'Really you of all people, are going to comment on other people's sex life'.

Rebekah commented giving both Caroline and Klaus a knowing look while Stefan tried to stifle a laugh.

'We have consideration for other people'.

Caroline replied back which made Rebekah roll her eyes.

'Oh so who was that I heard praying three days ago'.

'Oh My god'.

Caroline buried her head in Klaus's chest while Klaus laughed not being able to do anything else along with Stefan.
