"I'm sorry," Percy said for about the thousandth time tonight. "I tried to get home as fast as I could but the emergency at camp took longer than I thought and they desperately needed me—"
"Percy, Percy," Sally interrupted, taking her son into her arms and hugging him tightly. "It's okay. You, coming home safe and sound is the only gift I need on Mothers' Day." She pulled back and took his head in her hands. "On... any day." She kissed his forehead and pulled him back in for a tight hug. Percy relaxed, glad that his mother was so understanding of his demigod ways. "Now, who wants blue chocolate chip cookies?" Sally asked, pulling away and smiling at her son.
"I'd love some." Percy responded.
That was Sally Jackson for you, baking cookies for her son on Mothers' Day.
Thank you for everything,
TheBrightestNight
