Chapter 6
I Do Not Own Fairy Tail or its characters
Natsu and Mira had found themselves in front of the movie theater debating on what film they wanted to see, their hands still intertwined with the other. While they were on their way to their destination they had attracted some attention from others on the street. Mirajane was very noticeable as she was the renowned poster girl and calling card of Fairy Tail as well as a famous model for Sorcerer Weekly. Natsu as well had been getting looks as his fame had been on the rise since the Grand Magic Games and the Dragon King Festival. For those on the streets seeing the two together was a peculiar sight and no doubt rumors would arise about what the two were doing. Natsu had become to grow irritated with the numerous stares they were attracting. It also didn't help that his enhanced hearing could pick up their conversations as if he was standing right next to them. After one such pedestrian was rendered unconscious due to a vicious upper cut, and his accomplice thoroughly soiling himself, Mirajane had to keep Natsu on a tight leash so that he wouldn't hurt anybody else who said something negative or derogatory about either him or herself. Since then Mira had kept Natsu close to her as possible so as to keep collateral damage to a minimum.
"So what movie would you like to watch," Mirajane asked cheerfully still holding his arm. The two had been looking at the movie titles listed on the marquee for a few minutes but hadn't come to a decision on what to watch.
"Eh, I don't know. Something badass with a lot of fighting I guess, what about you?" Natsu turned his head to see Mirajane with a curious look in her eye.
"I'm not sure. I guess horror movies are out since this is a date. A shame too, I like a good horror flick every once in a while. There aren't many comedies out from the looks of it. Oooh, how about a romantic one. I know you're not really into them but I promise you they're not all bad." She let go of his arm and clasped her hands together over her mouth and gave Natsu her best pitiful expression. Natsu wasn't one for romantic flicks and never was but since it would make Mirajane happy he thought that he could suffer through it. But the minute a heartfelt speech or cheesy line came on screen Natsu decided he would go ghost.
"Alright, alright we'll watch a chick flick. Which one do you wanna see?"
"How about Heart's Divided, I heard that it is supposed to be the best this year! There is even supposed to be some comedy in it." Mira said enthusiastically as she looked to her date who had gotten their tickets. When he turned towards her, Natsu had a big smile while handing her the ticket.
"Hehe well as long as it's not a complete bore I'm down. As long as you have a great time tonight, right?"
"But we're both supposed to enjoy the date Natsu" Mira argued.
"I am enjoying it. I'm here with you aren't I?" Natsu stated bluntly. It was true, he was having a great time with Mira. While they were walking to the theater, and when he wasn't listening in on outside conversations, he and Mira talked to each other. Something the two of them had never done together and he had a great time. The fact that they were hand in hand the whole type was a bonus as well.
Mira blushed at Natsu's statement and felt her heart flutter at his words. A small but sweet smile graced her face knowing that Natsu meant what he said. He wouldn't lie to his nakama to spare their feelings rather he was honest, sometimes brutally so. It was one of the reasons that she started falling for him in the first place. Taking a step forward she wrapped her arms around his waist and buried her face in his scarf, but not so much as to smear the little make up she had on to it. Natsu was confused at the show of affection and seemed a little uncomfortable as the couple had begun to attract attention once again. When he heard Mira speak he looked down.
"What did you say Mira?"
"I said thank you" she repeated. Natsu was confused as to what she was thanking him for.
"Huh, you're welcome but why are you thanking me?" he questioned.
Lifting her head up she gave him the brightest smile she had which made the dragonslayer blush at how beautiful she looked.
"For being such a great and caring person Natsu. Thank you, I don't know what Fairy Tail, or myself for that matter, would do without you." Mira spoke remembering what he told her the night before during their heart to heart conversation. Natsu was dumbfounded as to why she would bring something like this up on their date but before he could question her motive she grabbed his hand and pulled him into the building.
"Come on, the movie is about to start in a few minutes and I want to get good seats!" Her bubbly personality had come back around making her statement a thing of the past. When walking to the theater Natsu saw the concessions which triggered his stomach to let out what could be described as a whale's mating call. Mira stopped in her tracks to look at her date who had a sheepish expression on his face and rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment.
"Sorry about that, but I haven't eaten since I left the guild" he chuckled. Mira giggled as well and sympathized with the dragon slayer as she too hadn't eaten since early that morning. Making a quick turn she dragged notice to the concessions stand so they could appease their appetites during the movie. However Natsu blanched when he saw the prices of the move.
"70 jewels for a damn hot dog?! That's highway robbery!" His outburst had gotten the attention of others around them and a few nods of agreement as well.
"Natsu please calm down" Mira pleaded.
"But Mira these guys are robbing people blind! I mean how the hell is bottled water 50 jewels? That cost more than a large soda! And I saw a guy order nachos and they just gave him a bag of chips and a cup of cheese! A bag of chips and cheese in a cup, Mira! It cost more to eat here than it does to actually get inside and it's not even good quality!" Natsu's tirade on how theater was ripping people off continued on until they got to order there food. With Mirajane's pleads for him to settle down and that everything will be fine, Natsu gave out an irritated huff and stepped off of his soapbox. It was a date and he was told to pay for everything and not complain. For the majority of the time they were together Mirajane was in high spirits and constantly smiling. He enjoyed watching her smile and he didn't want her to stop. Swallowing his pride he reluctantly gave the cashier the money for the food he ordered but not without giving him and the rest of the employees a dangerous glare that made them sweat bullets when his gaze met their own.
"Now was that so hard?" Mira questioned teasingly while sipping on a medium soda.
"I don't wanna talk about it. Next time we're sneaking in food instead of giving them a fortune," Natsu groused. Mira caught his statement and blushed a little at it.
"So there will be a next time" she muttered under her breathe. Natsu's acute hearing picked up on her voice but not all of her words.
"You say something Mira?"
"Oh nothing just speaking to myself. But I don't think we're allowed to sneak in stuff in a movie theater Natsu. Besides how would you do it?"
"Oh I got a guy who could sew some pockets on the inside of my jacket! That way I can sneak in all the food I want instead of giving these guys all my money" he explained.
"Look who's using his head for a change" Mira taunted playfully while at the same time poking him in his ribs in jest. Natsu gave a light hearted chuckle as they stepped into the room that was playing their movie. The couple sat down in a good position to see the screen right when the opening trailers started. Natsu began to devour the hot dogs and hamburgers he got for himself as well as chug down his large soda. Meanwhile Mirajane ate her popcorn with a little more grace than her date. Throughout the movie Mira's attention was fixated on the screen while it took some effort on Natsu's part just to stay awake. In his honest opinion the movie wasn't half bad but it wasn't his cup of tea. But he promised he would take Mira to see it and stay awake and awake he would stay even if his eyelids felt like they weighed a ton. Right when blissful sleep was about to claim victory he felt a slight weight on his left shoulder. Looking down he saw Mira resting her head on his shoulder and her hand on top of his. He was confused at first about the gesture but decided to let it slide chalking it up as another weird girl thing. When he felt Mira intertwine their hands again he let her and gave her hand a gently squeeze.
On Natsu's side he was as cool as a cucumber but Mira was a little antsier. She had hoped that Natsu would take her hit and initiate something, anything but she got nothing. Never one to give up she decided that some old fashioned fibbing would have to do. Giving her best shiver she caught the dragonslayer's attention and mentally patted herself on the back.
"You ok there Mira?" Said young beauty squealed at how cute he looked when he was curious.
"Oh I'm fine just a bit chilly in here. Wish I had brought a jacket" she whispered.
"Oh you wanna use mine?" Natsu had took his other arm back and motioned to take his jacket off but Mira's hold on his sleeve made him pause.
"No, I'm fine but could you… maybe…put your arm…around me?" Mira felt her cheeks blaze up at her question. She wasn't one for getting embarrassed easily but she found it hard find her voice in front of Natsu and ask him such a question. When she felt a strong muscular arm wrap itself around her shoulder and pull her in she looked to see Natsu giving her a concerned expression.
"You feeling any better?" Mira's nerves had calmed down and she gave him a bright smile ignoring the heat in her pale cheeks.
"Never better thank you" Mira leaned her head into the crook of Natsu's neck and couldn't help the happy sigh that escaped from her. She could feel her blush spreading but she didn't care as long as she was in his hold. The warmth he gave off was also very soothing as well as she wasn't lying entirely about it being chilly in the theater. Wanting to thank him for his kindness Mira gave Natsu a quick peck on the cheek and quickly went back to her previous position.
"Uh what was that for Mira?" Natsu whispered. His cheeks were taking on a red hue just like Mira's after her abrupt kiss. She didn't turn to look at him but her melodic giggle was heard.
"What am I not allowed to kiss my date?" Natsu's eyes widened at her statement and decided to let the matter drop. She did have a point, this was a date and he heard that kisses and other forms of affection were usually involved. Their hand holding and physical closeness was a sign of that if any.
"You know Natsu, you can kiss me as well." He looked down at his date in his arms, letting a smirk stretch across his face. He still hadn't come to a consensus and how he felt about Mira but over the course of the few hours that they were together he could say that he was closet to an answer.
"Hehe, I'll keep that mind."
When the movie was finished the two headed towards the restaurant that Natsu had chosen and much to Mirajane's surprise it was one of the better restaurants in the town.
"Natsu this restaurant is said to have some of the best food in Magnolia but it can be pretty expensive. Are you ok with going here" Mira questioned cautiously.
"Hmmm, oh yeah it's no prob. I got the money besides the guy who owns the place was once a client of mine. Saved him from a group of punk ass thugs who tried to shake him down before we got trapped on Tenrou Island. Dude said that I was welcome anytime and the food was on the house. We met up again a few weeks after the Grand Magic Games ended and he said that his offer was still on the table. Today seemed like a good day to cash in dontcha think" he said grinning. Outside the restaurant their seemed to be a line that stretched almost around the corner but Natsu paid it no attention and immediately went to the front. Mira sweat dropped at his boldness as the action made everyone give them heated glares and a few insults were thrown. When they stepped through the door they were greeted by a lavish décor that oozed romance. The flooring was made to look like cobblestones and the music fitted the French motif perfectly. The male and female staff were dressed in butler and French maid outfits respectively. Coming into the foyer they were greeted by the staff with respectable bows and elegant courtesies.
"Welcome to Rose Bistro how may we- Oh Natsu-kun, what a pleasure for you to come in. Ooooh and with such a beautiful women as well. Oh ho ho, you dog you. Come, come no friend of mine will wait in line. I will have mine best table for you and your date! Philippe!" the owner clapped his hands twice and as if from thin air a waiter appeared from behind Natsu and Mira giving them a small fright.
"Oui monsieur!" A thin waiter with black combed over hair saluted the owner like a trained soldier.
"Get our honored guest the best table in the house!"
"Oui monsieur!" With another salute the waiter dashed off and came back seconds later to bow in front of Mira and Natsu. The lovely couple sweat dropped at the exuberant personalities of the staff.
"Monsieur and madame, you're table awaits you." Mira and Natsu looked at each other and gave sheepish smiles and followed the waiter to their desired table. Seeing the two get seated so quickly the crowd in line had begun to complain leaving the poor owner to deal with an anger mob.
"I hope he'll be ok" Mira asked concerned.
"Monsieur we'll be fine. He deals with rowdy crowds almost daily. Ah, we're here." The waiter stopped in front of a booth that was elevated off the ground by a few inches and had a candelabra in the middle of the table with two vases holding a rose in each one. A white linen table cloth was draped over the table while at the front of the table was an ice bucket that held a pricey looking bottle of wine. Mira swooned at how romantic the scene was and Natsu just looked on unimpressed but smiled slightly at how ecstatic Mirajane looked. The smile quickly turned into a smug smirk as he mentally patted himself on the back at how awesome he must look at having this kind of a hook up.
'Damn, I'm good' he praised in his mind. Taking their seats on the padded bench the waiter took their drink orders and went to the kitchen leaving the couple by themselves.
"Natsu I'm really impressed. Who knew you could be so romantic." Natsu gained a bit of pink on his cheeks at her statement and shamelessly brushed his finger under his nose. A slight chuckle came from his mouth as he looked away from her blue eyes.
"Well, I didn't really do all that much but thanks I any way, Mira. As long as you're having a great time, it's all worth it!" Despite his earlier decision to take credit for the restaurant Natsu's modesty had made its appearance. He flashed Mirajane his trademark smile and a thumbs up making her grin brightly as well as cradled her head in the palm of her hands. Taking one hand to reach across the table she held Natsu's own and rubbed her thumb on the back of it. Natsu was caught off guard by the touch and when he looked over to Mirajane he saw her with the most loving expression he's ever seen. He had only seen her make that look when she was with her siblings but the one she was giving him now spoke more than just familial feelings. A lump had manifested in his throat making it impossible for him to breathe let alone speak. Her beauty and innocence radiated around her and he swore she was glowing.
"Thank you again Natsu, for making this day so special. Before today I thought we would never be able to do something like this. I always imagined you going on a date with…" Mira stopped her train of thought right there, not wanting to ruin her mood thinking about her possible rivals. Today was her day with Natsu, the guy she had fell for years ago and she would enjoy their date to the fullest. Looking at their connecting hands she felt a heartfelt smile grace her face as she saw Natsu's own thumb rubbing across the bottom of her hand.
"Well enough about that, what do you want to eat. The owner said that our meal is on the house so let's dig in."
"Uhhhh…"
"What's wrong Natsu, I thought you'd be 'All fire up!' by now." Mira teased. Feeling him take his hand back, albeit slowly, Mira saw Natsu look at the menu perplexed. She saw his mouth move every once in a while but would grimace in irritation.
"Natsu are you ok?" His attention was taken from the menu to look at her and he had a sheepish grin on his face.
"Sorry Mira, it's just I have no idea what any of this says." His date giggled in amusement finding his naïveté to be adorable. She shimmied out of her side of the booth and sat next to him taking the menu from his hand.
"What part don't you understand." She asked patiently.
"The first, second, third and fourth pages." He explained.
"Ufufu, Natsu, that's the whole menu."
"Exactly."
"Your beverages." The couple turned to see the waiter who sat them down holding a tray with their choice of drinks on it. He put down each one in front of them and took a pin and note pad out from his front pocket.
"Do you know what you will be having this evening?" Mira slyly looked to Natsu who had snatched the menu back from her to cover his face and shame.
"We'll be another few minutes, is that ok?"
"Of course madam, take all the time you need. Though before I go could I interest the both of you in a bottle of our finest wine? Free of charge of course." The waiter said. Mira put a finger to her chin and thought about it. Although she was a bartender she didn't drink all that often and the same went with Natsu. However with her ability to ingest poison and his to burn it from his system, she was sure a bottle of wine would be harmless.
"Hmmm sounds good. We'll take it. Thank you." She gave him a smile as thanks and the waiter left with a bow but not before giving a "No, thank you madame and monsieur" in response. With him gone Mirajane went back to teaching Natsu what the words meant and what dish they were. She was fairly knowledgeable in other languages and this one just so happened to be one she recognized. Teaching Natsu what the words meant brought a sense of nostalgia to both parties as they remembered how Erza tried to teach Natsu proper grammar and spelling as well as math. The subject even came up to the two with Mirajane outwardly laughing at Natsu's shudder of fear. Minutes passed before the waiter came back out again with the bottle of wine pouring both a glass and finally taking their order and leaving to bring it to the chef. Taking her place across the table, Mira and Natsu engaged in idle small talk which soon grew into full conversations ranging from guild life to their own personal life before and after their food was served. Throughout the meal they learned more about each other in a few hours than they did in seven years. Natsu learned that Mirajane actually wanted to become a professional singer rather than model and her reasoning as to why she became a bartender after Lisanna's death. Mira also got to see a whole new side to Natsu that he rarely showed to others. He spoke of his aspirations outside of the guild and dreams he had that went beyond his meeting of Igneel. To say the least she was shocked to hear that he would go in search of his parents. Over the course of their meal they sipped on the wine they were given for free and both could feel the effects, Mira more than Natsu however. After almost an hour, both had finished their meals and sat in their seats content with the food. Mira continued to sip on a glass of wine and Natsu rubbed his stomach gleefully.
"Ahhh, never knew food could taste so good!" he proclaimed. His comment earned him a swift kick to the shin making him look to Mira. She gave him a sultry glare over the rim of her glass making her look slightly mysterious.
"Oh, so what does that make my cooking?" she asked in a slightly hostile tone. The smile she had on was both seductive and venomous. Natsu felt sweat appear at the nape of his neck and feared that the food he just ate would make a surprise return in his pants.
"Oh uh nothing Mira, you know I love your food! I'm just surprised that this restaurant was as good as yours hehehe." Natsu prayed to whatever god heard him that she would believe him. Her bangs shadowed her face so he couldn't see her expression but the slight movement of her shoulders meant that she was laughing.
'Why is she laughing?! Does she believe me or not?!' Natsu panicked inwardly.
"Ufufu is that so Natsu…" Mira called out. Natsu felt his stomach drop into his shoes at how tense her voice sounded.
"Yeah, most definitely Mira! Nobody can cook like you!" He hoped the added praise would get him off the hook.
"I see…well then…thank you!" Her mood had done a 180 and returned to her cheerful disposition. Natsu's shoulders sagged and his mouth dropped at the sudden shift. 'Was she playing me the whole time?!' he raged. His answer was given when the beautiful barmaid stuck her tongue out as well as wink at him. Natsu sweat dropped at her actions and his own gullibility.
"Tehe sorry Natsu, I just felt like messing with you is all." A slight blush had dusted her cheeks as she took another sip of wine. Wanting to entice the dragonslayer more Mirajane ran her heeled shoe up Natsu's leg and into his inner thigh causing him to shift in his seat away from her foot. Natsu wanted to yell at the woman but took notice that she was guzzling the wine down faster than he knew she could. He was still working on his first glass being too preoccupied with his meal and his other drinks. Mirajane had drank easily four or five glasses and he could smell it on her from across the table, dragon enhanced senses or not, the odor was pungent. Given her sudden mood shift Natsu figured that she may be drunk.
"Hey Mira you feeling ok?" Natsu asked concerned. Mira gave him a seductive wink over the rim of her glass before putting it down. She leaned over the table giving him a look at her deep cleavage.
"Why, Natsu I'm perfectly fine. Why would you ask? Do I…not…look ok…to you?" She had stood up out of her seat and leaned over the table putting her hands on the wall behind Natsu's head. Natsu wondered how she could be so bold, even intoxicated, while they were in a restaurant but he forgot that they had a curtain blocking what could be seen from inside. He could smell her perfume and the alcohol mixing on her breathe but strangely he wasn't too bad. Looking in her eyes Natsu saw the same look of lust from the previous night. Natsu felt his whole body tingle at the memories of their night together but he knew that now was not a time to act on them, especially in a crowded high class restaurant with a drunken Mirajane. The guild's reputation was already bad with the Magic Council, adding public indecency to that list would only justify their opinion of Fairy Tail as being filth.
"Uh, no you look great! It's just uh…" Natsu's words got caught in his throat when Mira climbed over the table and settled herself in his lap. She straddled his waist, her butt on his legs. She wrapped her arms around his neck and leaned forward until their foreheads were touching. The lustful and wanting look in her eyes seemed to have intensified at the body contact as her pupils looked to be a bit hazy.
"It's just what, huh?" Mirajane tantalizingly took her index finger and dragged the digit down the middle of Natsu's face, playfully pulling his lower lip down. Her face was centimeters from his and Natsu could smell both the alcohol on her breathe as well as her meal and perfume. The mixture of scents were bombarding his senses. A lump had formed in Natsu's throat who had tried to stay as composed as possible but was quickly failing as Mirajane's perfume and arousal were assaulting his olfactory senses making his inner dragon want to take Mirajane on the table, consequences be damned.
"It's just that, you know, we're in a restaurant. We can't really do anything." Natsu could feel sweat pouring out of every pore at how sensual Mirajane was looking right now. It seemed that his words had no effect on her as she had begun to grind her ass onto his legs. Her short skirt was hiked up on her creamy thighs so Natsu felt her skin rubbing against his jeans and the heat coming off of her pussy could damn near burn a hole through them.
"But doesn't the thought of being caught just turn you on? I know it does for me." Mirajane had her entire upper body pressed against Natsu. Her sizeable breasts were pressed hard against his chest and he could just make out her hardened nipples poking against through her bra.
"Just the thought of being found in such a compromising position just makes me hot! What about you Natsu, doesn't it just…" The sultry demon put her mouth right beside his ear. "…fire you up inside?" she whispered. To entice her date, the drunken Mirajane licked his earlobe and pulled it between her teeth causing the dragonslayer to let out an erotic moan. Luckily it wasn't too loud to make them noticeable by the other patrons however it seemed luck wasn't on Natsu's side at the moment.
"Monsieur, madame, are you ok? Do I need to take your plates and are you ready for dessert?" Natsu felt as if he had a small stroke when he heard their waiter's voice. If he didn't answer soon the waiter would open the curtain separating him and Mirajane from the rest of the restaurant and there would be no way to explain how she ended up in his lap. He would doubt that the two would be welcomed back even if the owner owed him a solid.
"Monsieur, madame?" The waiter called again when he received no answer the first time. Natsu couldn't find his voice and this seemed to excite the slightly drunken woman in his lap.
"Let him come in, just let it happen Natsu-kun." She sensually said. Taking her hands from behind his neck she cupped face between them so only he would look at her. With her half lidded eyes and the provocative smile she had on Natsu felt his self-control slipping by the second. On instinct his hands slowly took hold of her narrow waist and rubbed at her sides before coming down to caress her soft and silky thighs.
"Being bad, can sometimes lead to very good rewards. Wouldn't you say Natsu?" He and Mira were a hair's breathe away from their lips kissing and Natsu could practically taste the flavor of her lip gloss and the wine on them. However before he could indulge himself on her welcoming, plump and supple lips, the waiter called once more.
"Monsieur, madame, I'm terribly sorry but I'm coming in!"
Natsu couldn't rebuttal as his attention was drawn to Mirajane. Finding himself waist deep in an awkward quagmire only one word echoed in Natsu's mind.
'Shit!'

[A/N: Sorry for the wait everybody, college started and it's been taking up a considerable amount of my time. I had been working on this chapter as well as the new one for Model Behavior and a Valentine's Day one shot with some sweet NaMi in it. Thankfully campus closed today on account of the snow and I don't have class tomorrow either so here's hoping I can get some progress done on my other stories. With the way jewels work in my stories I look at the currency exchange being 10 jewels for 1 US dollar. So basically 70 jewels is 7 dollars. I want to say thank you to everyone who favorite, followed and reviewed my stories. I do this for you guys! So once again, read and review and I'll try to update soon. Blaccdragon out!]
