A/N: I'm back guys! It's been soooooooo long... or it feels like it anyways. I've moved halfway across or up the country I guess and it's been a lot to take in. Follow, fave, and review please!
I couldn't comprehend what she was saying, my head was blowing up way more than I'd have liked it to.
"What do you mean by Luke changing his fate?" I questioned as I felt a sick feeling in my stomach, something that I couldn't place.
"Your friend, or lover, or companion, whichever he answers to, seems to have struck a deal with the queen of the heavens in order to deem a second chance in the world, trying to get near you."
Her statement shocked me, getting a small gasp out of myself. The way she had said "you" made me guilty as if I should have been the one to blame for this mess.
"I didn't convince him to do anything of that sort if that's what you're accusing me of" I said in a matter of fact voice, hoping to not come off as a defensive person.
"I was not trying to imply that" the goddess replied, giving me the same discomfort I had felt at the beginning of the discussion. "Hera revived him from the ashes, bringing him back to life and once again into your presence."
What she said sounded crazy, Luke coming back from the dead? How could he come back from the dead if it had never happened? If he had never died? I didn't understand what had happened. I didn't understand why I was being told of this now. I threw my head back as I felt a scorching pain, screaming across the void that had now appeared.
"Family Luke... you promised."
The image transformed after a hasty mist and evaporated into the shape of someone she knew well.
"Don't I get a kiss for luck? It's kind of tradition right?" he asked, a smirk visible in his face as his green eyes sparkled.
The image changed again, this time a few feet away from two people. They were laughing and whispering, and I felt something inside me burn in rage and made me want to chew someone's head off.
I screamed, my voice loud, not only from the pain of it all but from the hurt I felt too.
"Why did Hera erase my memory?" my voice frail, quiet and vulnerable.
Aphrodite sparkled in the sunlight, her face, a certain glow.
"She wanted to give Luke a second chance and in order for that, he had to get close to you. You and I both know that you wouldn't have communicated with him, if Hera had not taken your memory."
I gripped the rail tightly, my knuckles white from the pain.
"Did she take Percy's too?" I asked, my voice cracking on his name.
She nodded sadly, a dismayed expression on her face. "He had to forget you in order for Luke to get closer to you."
I couldn't believe it all. It sounded almost childish, selfish even.
"Why did you decide to give it back to us then?" I spat out bitterly, my eyes predictably red from the overwhelming tears.
"It was my decision."
I looked up at her in surprise, clearly a bit shocked that she had stood up for me in this situation. Gods and Goddesses always had a catch, that much I knew after my quests with... Percy.
"Luke and you were just not meant to be, it was wrongful to see you blindly follow his misconceptions. After my constant persistency, I convinced Hera to tell the truth and give your back your memories."
It suddenly made sense of how Thalia was acting, she must've knew something.
"How did Thalia know of this?"
Aphrodite looked me in the eye, as if silently asking me if I really wanted to know. I gave a small nod.
"I want to know, you owe me that much at least."
She waved a hand through the air, showing me a recording of what had happened that day. She narrated along with it, making me feel creeped out about it all.
"When Hera was in the midst of wiping your memories, Thalia must've followed you guys here. She was lurking behind in the corner, watching and listening. I had known she was there all along but I made sure that Hera had not noticed as I was never supportive of this idea in the first place. After she found out, she was planning on taking hers in the process too but she had Artemis over her shoulders and she had threatened to tell Zeus of it. Although Hera was a bit bitter about it, she moved on and so did we when we realized it was too late to take back what she did."
The whole explanation jumbled me and confused me, the slick of a memory popping into my head. I wonder what Thalia and Luke are doing right now. I shook my head against it. I hate him. He lied and smiled to me, never bothering to feel guilty about what he had done. The truth was out and with that I was officially escorted out of Mount Olympus.
I caught someone's eye and it left me with a shudder. Everything was suddenly weird between me and the green-eyed seeweed brain and I didn't know what to do. How was I supposed to start from where we had left it. Was it the friendship we had made just a few days ago? Or the relationship we had had a while ago?
"Annabeth!"
He ran up to me, sending me shivers and enveloping me in a hug. I let my arms dangle at my sides awkwardly as Aphrodite stared, a wide grimace on her face.
"What's wrong?" he asked, his shiny green eyes looking into my stormy grey ones.
"I jut need some time." And with that said, I got in the back of the car and let Percy standing there, alone just like we both were a few months ago.
A/N: Uh-oh, some trouble stewing up! Don't forget to leave me some reviews, I love to read them! Sorry it's so short!
