"Anyways, tell me about the battle. I've always wondered what strategy you used for a siege on such a grand scale!"
"It is getting really late Morgan." Robin frowned with his mouth dry from speaking so much.
"I know. I know. But just this once could you keep going? Please?"
"That is odd. No threatening demands to make my life miserably if I don't?" He asked curious to her strange behavior.
"Not tonight." She spoke softly. "I would really appreciate it, but if it is too much trouble than I understand."
The two parents looked back at each other unsure if they heard her correctly. "I suppose I could continue for Robin. Provided you let me know if you get too tired and want to fall asleep.
"I doubt I will." Morgan nodded back gratefully. "And thanks mom."
Lucina smiled back at her daughter while gently placing her hands on her lap and leaning forward to have a better view of her. Instead of giving a summary like normal, she jumped right into the story and said,
...
"All right listen up everyone. If you have any questions about the plan now would be a good time to ask." Robin's voice boomed in front of everybody as we finished debriefing. He and I were standing on top of a makeshift stage going over the plan to ensure everyone knew what to do. A few other commanding generals and a man in a large baggy cloak also stood by us as we summed up the strategy to the men who needed to know the plan.
"Oy, Gregor is having a question." The rough mercenary spoke with a jolly tone as he raised his hand in the air in front of two hundred generals, the shepherds, and many officers around him. "Who is man in black cloak that conceals face?" He asked a pointed to a mysterious figure standing twenty feet away from our tactician.
The person Gregor was referring to had shown up half way through our meeting and hid his face in the same fashion Robin did when he had his hood on. You could not see any of his features other than the pitch black garment that withheld every trace of his body.
"He is one of our advisers" Robin answered calmly and smiled back at the skeptical crowd. "Don't worry, he is trustworthy even though he has a good reason to conceal his face.
"Ah, okay. Gregor understands now." He replied quickly without needing any further clarification.
"Er, by the way." Robin grimaced and looked back at the mercenary unable to process what he was seeing. "Where is your shirt? … Or your pants for that matter?" He asked disturbed as the only coverings Gregor was wearing was an old set of undergarments and worn socks.
"Oy! Gregor forgot to put on clothes when getting dressed this mourning. Gregor was wondering why air was so drafty."
Robin closed his eyes and covered his forehead in shame, "You should probably go and put your uniform on."
"Haha. Tactician is always filled with great ideas."
Robin sighed and looked back at the crowd of generals trying to forget what just took place. "Any other questions?"
"Where is Chrom or Sumia? I don't see them anywhere" Cordelia asked in the crowd wondering where her good friend and former crush could be.
"They wanted to spend some time together before facing such a brutal conflict. I assure you they have been briefed ahead of time and will be here shortly to rally the troops. Any other questions?" Robin asked and looked around as silence ran through the field.
...
"Then you are dismissed. Get your men together and let's end this."
The men and women around us started walking away with very determined expressions and Flavia made some inaudible grunt while patting her throwing axe ready for action. Meanwhile the man in the dark cloak slowly approached me and reached out to touch me on the shoulder. His shadowed black face gave a nod and then walked past me without saying a word.
Perhaps the most bizarre thing about him was how he walked. Since his garb covered him from head to toe, you could not see his legs inside the massive cloth or any signs of his shoes. It appeared more like he was levitating than anything else. The notion itself didn't entirely drop from my mind until I finally saw his boot stick out of the covering of his robes for a very brief moment.
…
"How are you feeling?" Robin's voice called out which broke my gaze from the cloaked man and returned it to my partner in battle.
"A bit anxious." I nodded as the nerves in my stomach sunk. Though, it was getting harder to discern those feelings inside of me with him around.
"Me too." He covered his hand over his silver sword unsure of himself. "I can never get use to this no matter how many times I've been in battle. I always feel like I have to throw up. "
"It is hard for me as well. In my time my fights were often with mindless Risen that never spoke or thought back on their. It wasn't until the day that assassin tried to kill my father did I spill another person's blood. I suppose that is why the second assassin caught me off guard so much." I replied somberly with guilt for not being strong enough.
"I, never realized that." He grimaced and looked back at me with his gentle eyes. "I'm sorry."
"It is okay Robin." I shrugged and let the thoughts melt away from my mind. "My father tells me that your first moments were not pleasant either when you had a run in with bandits. We have all had to experience our share of death."
"... Yeah, but after today I hope we never have to play that role again." He spoke sincerely with great care. "The sooner we get this over with, the quicker people can return to their normal lives."
"Right." I nodded back and proceeded to follow closely besides him as we made our way to the front lines of our massive army. Never before in my life had I seen so many people as we made our long walk to the center of the army. We passed row after row of disciplined soldiers commanded by officers or secondary tacticians.
It was remarkable to think about how much both Robin and my father had grown from leading a rag tag group of Shepherds to commanding an army. "By the way, I hope that the time you were able to spend with your friends went well yesterday."
"Oh, yes." I nodded back gratefully. "It was a great honor to see them again. After so much time passing I was afraid I would never see them, but in the end it was like we never left. They are all the same people I knew from my childhood and it was refreshing to talk to them without having to worrying about their safety.
"I'm glad, and I am sure we will cross paths with the rest of your friends at some point too." He said encouragingly. "If they are anything like the four that just arrived then I am sure it wont be too hard to spot them."
"... Owain did mention that he heard stories of people who fit their description on his travels. It is not impossible that we might find them." I replied hesitant.
"How many did you say traveled back in time with you again?"
"There is eleven of us. Including myself."
"So six more to track down?" He placed his hand on his chin and thought it over for a moment. "It shouldn't be too hard."
"I don't know. It is a very big world."
"And full of many surprises" He added with a laugh.
…
About ten minutes later we reached our destination next to the giant wooden trebuchet that he was so keen on using. I did not understand all of the theory on how it worked, but Robin was sure it would help us so I didn't question it. While the trebuchet was an odd looking piece of equipment, it did not capture my attention as much as Robin's new stoic face.
It was strange for me to see how differently he was when he concentrated on the battle. It was not the first time I had noticed this, but considering he was always so calm and peaceful it always surprised me to see his eyes turn dark and his body stiffen. It was like looking at an entirely different person but I knew it did not change who he really was. Others had commented that I was the same way too.
"Is everything ready?" Robin asked Say'ri while quickly scanning the future battlefield. Without a doubt, I could tell he was already running scenarios through his mind.
"Aye."
Robin sighed and gazed out one last time at the sea of spears, swords, axes, mages, and archers all lined up ready for battle. The sharp metal tips gleaming off the morning sun and the sounds of metal colliding with one another every time someone scratched their shields across their armored leggings.
"Unleash Naga's fury!" Robin shouted with a deafening boom as he thrust his sword in the air.
Moments latter the sound of ropes whipping from the tension and a large thundering crack came from the wooden monster who awoke from its slumber. It violently snapped into action lashing out against the three hundred pound stone it was carrying.
I could feel a massive burst of wind rush across my face as the trebuchet sparked to life and hurled the stone into the air. For a brief instant it almost seemed like the rock was harmlessly gliding like a bird, but the alarming distance it was closing on the enemy walls proved otherwise.
*BAM*
The roaring sound of the rock crashing against the wall's defenses could be heard from a mile away as the wall billowed in agony. From the vast distance across I could see shadows losing their balance and falling off their once safe footing. Perhaps over a dozen archers fell over as the shell of stone quaked taking the force of the impact.
The whole process probably lasted less than five seconds even though it must have felt much longer to the poor souls who once stood atop that colossus stone defense. Yet, despite such a tremendous attack the wall still held strong. There was now a five foot indentation in the middle of the wall and a few stray shards of stone dropping to the ground, but nothing showing any signs of it crumbling.
"Figures it would take more than one of those to break that thick shell." Flavia grunted and yelled back at the shepherds responsible for loading the next stone. It took five people just to lift and place the rock on the trebuchet as it began its process to reload and unleash another attack.
"Let's count our blessings that the equipment didn't shatter in half and accidentally impale Chrom in the process. The fact that it works and hit its mark is enough for me." Robin commented back still engaged on the wreckage left by the shot.
"Ha! Well then, consider that our greetings to Walhart." Flavia uttered back with a smirk across her face. "Let's see how those dastards will respond to our other forms of generosity."
…
Soon volley after volley of hurtling stones soared and crushed against the ramparts. Each time more archers fell from the trembling barrier and each time the tremendous force caused the wall to creak and groan unable to repel the full force.
Our trebuchet was highly inaccurate and never hit the same place twice, but the devastation it caused rippled through the battlements. Anyone foolish enough to stand atop it would face a rough battle to keep from falling off.
"Where again did you come up with the idea for this device?" I asked in awe looking at the damage across the enemy's fortification.
"It wasn't my idea. It comes from an old scholar named Canas, but most of his works were lost in the wars in Elibe. Lucky for me I have access to all of Ylisse's archives relating to the old wars and their strategies."
"So how come no one else has discovered this technique?"
"Because if I told you a week ago that a few pieces of wood and rope could destroy the strongest structures in the world than you would have thought there was something mentally wrong with me."
"I would have my doubts." I nodded back. "But by now I've learned to trust your methods."
He smiled for a brief second and said, "You better be careful, trusting a mad man will get you killed one day."
"I assure you he is no stranger than the rest of the shepherds and at the least his plan seems to be working very well."
Robin's frowned reemerged as he look back at the wall unsure of himself. "Still, I get the feeling that something is wrong." He whispered as our army cheered. The last stone hit one of the towers on the wall and showered nearby units with deadly rubble while the structure collapsed.
"Hmm?" I looked back at him wondering what could be running through his mind.
"Their archers. They still stand on the walls despite the danger that comes their way. Walhart's men may be strong and unyielding but they are not idiots. Why are they not withdrawing?" Robin asked in deep thought.
"Perhaps they think we will run out of ammunition soon."
"Could be." He muttered while shaking his head uncertain. "But something seems off."
"How so?"
"I can't explain it, but I have a bad feeling in my stomach. I hope you are ready Lucina."
"I always am." I pledged with my had tightly gripped on Falchion's handle.
"Good. I am counting on you." He replied with a hint of worry still in his voice.
I glanced back at our tactician and hoped to see if there was anything I could do to ease his worries when my eyes came across the black hooded shadow in the distance gazing at both of us. Deep behind his concealed face I could feel his eyes stare which made things even more uncomfortable.
"Lucina?"
I quickly refocused my attention and said,"Yes Robin?"
"When this is over I would very much like to steal you away from everyone for a few hours. So promise me you will stay safe out there."
"I will." I replied sincerely and placed my hand on his shoulder with a new found strength coursing through me. "And I'll keep you safe too."
….
An hour passed and about thirty shots were fired causing tremendous destruction. There was noticeable breaches across the ramparts and large chunks of rock falling off with each hit. It was incredible how one of the most impressive fortresses on the planet was being weakened by a wooden machine.
"Henry, set the next one ablaze." Robin called out fixed on the scene in front of him. As long as those archers stood atop the walls we could not move forward. Too many would be lost to archer fire while we rushed forward defenseless.
"Nyhaha Okay!" He smiled wickedly and rushed over to the siege equipment. Before Henry could go crazy, Miriel poured oil on it while Frederick drenched the machine with water so it would not catch fire.
All that was left for Henry was to ignite the boulder and he did so with great pleasure. Fwoosh! A bright purple flame rose ten feet high in the air bringing a fierce heat that rivaled our time spent in the volcano.
"FIRE!" Robin yelled urgently before the massive flames could destroy our trebuchet. The blazing rock then began its short trip of doom while Henry laugh manically in the background.
"Hehehehe! 'Fire.' Oh you kill me Robin. Nya ha ha."
The force behind this rock was far greater than any other of our stones thrown as a violet tail of flames followed behind it like a comet. However, its impact would be on the same scale as a meteor. Both the wall and the rock smashed into a thousand pieces as the two forces collided in a grand display. The blindingly bright fireball shattered into countless small purple pieces like one big destructive firework.
The remaining men on the wall didn't even have time to shield their eyes before it literally rained fire on their position with little ability to protect themselves. If the heat wasn't enough to catch their clothes on fire, the velocity and deadliness of the debris would crush them before they could realize what was going on.
"So beautiful. So destructive. I think I am in love." Henry marveled as his laughter changed to a stare of amazement.
"By the Gods." Flavia watched in equal astonishment.
Yelling, chanting, and shouts of victory could be heard from our army as they saw the wall collapse under its own weight, but a cloud of silence fell over the Shepherds as we had trouble believing what we were seeing.
"May Naga help us all." Robin gritted his teeth and gathered his strength. "Flavia and Say'ri, get your soldiers ready to move. We charge when the next stone is thrown ... And someone get Henry to stop hugging the trebuchet."
...
"Hiyah!" I jumped in the air and crashed my blade on an axe wielder sending him crashing to the ground, but before I even had a chance to recover Robin pushed me out of the way to prevent an attack from a charging knight. The push was just enough for our enemy to pass harmlessly by and for Virion to pick him off by piercing the armor at his neck with one of his arrows.
"Vaike and Nowi, help support the advance." Robin called out urgently in the middle of the tense fighting.
Once we passed the walls and entered the city gates we were met by fierce resistance from Walhart's personal army. Fighting broke out on every corner of every street with the sounds of blades clinging against one another pierced the air. It was absolute chaos as thousands of soldiers from both sides battled ferociously while more of our army poured past the broken walls every second shouting war cries.
I could barely see anything past the thick line of bodies and heavy fighting. Things were so densely compacted that the only way to advance was through the help of the dynasts and Feroxi soldiers who made an attempt to clear a path to the palace while the bitter fighting continued in the streets.
If not for their help we would still be stuck fighting at the gates, but their push gave us enough momentum to charge to the palace using hit and run tactics. The elite group of samurai from the dynasts, the steadfast axes of Feroxi soldiers, and our very own shepherds managed to break away from the main fighting and enacted the hardest part of the plan. Attacking the palace.
"We need someone to get their butt over here now!" Sully's booming voice yelled out as Cordelia and Frederick struggled to make ground past a pair of wind mages
"Lucina." Robin murmured while stabbing a guard in the chest.
"Right." I nodded in sync and the two of us quickly sprinted to center line to act as support.
Within seconds we were able to close the gap between our position and extinguish the threat. Meanwhile, Sully and Say'ri offered their blades to cut down an archer before he could set his sights on us.
Soon Tiki and Anna were free to lend a hand as they broke past two guards and rejoined our formation. The bitter chaos had split us into three separate groups, but we each made our progress at about the same pace. In the distance to the right of me I could see a glimpse of my father's royal blue hair and his steel sword cut straight through a javelin thrower with Libra supporting him.
His vibrant blue cape covered in blood as he gave a hearty laugh seeing his next foe miss his attack. Libra then brought his axe down on the assailant which caused the lord to grunt with great satisfaction.
"Halt!" A blaring cry came from ahead of us. The man who ushered the command was a giant towering knight in general's armor with his large flowing facial hair covering most of his face. His name was Cervantes and I remembered we fought him once before at the Mila tree. "This is as far as you go. Prepare to buckle underneath the weight of your own inferiority you rebellious scum."
Despite his heavy armor, he dashed at me with fierce speed that made it difficult to dodge. His heavy lance rushed past the spot where I once stood and I quickly backed away before he had a chance to send in another strike. Meanwhile, both Say'ri and Sully tried to swipe him from behind with their swords to no avail. The heavy armor he was wearing would not even dent against our steel weapons.
"Ha! You can not beat me while my beard protects me from your puny- Gah!" He reeled back in pain as a bright blue fireball overwhelmed him. Tiki swooped in and sprayed her torrid breath a second time that sent him crashing to the ground while Anna delivered the final blow at his neck.
"Nngh. … it appears …. science has failed me for a second time." He gasped in deep pain and reached up to touch his whiskers one last time. "No regrets... nngh. I die in the shadows of greatness."
Despite the boundless chaos around, the defeated behemoth died like he was at peace. Not even a sign of pain wrapped his face as he closed his eyes and he crossed his hands across his metal chest.
"Are Walhart's words really that strong to his generals?" I asked amazed that they had such loyalty and devotion within them. The commander we fought at fort Steiger was the same way despite the wickedness their conqueror had caused.
"It would seem so." Robin muttered disheartened.
Unfortunately, neither of us had time to reflect as more soldiers came darting to our position. The non stop fighting continued to mount as more bodies piled up. With so much chaos inside the castle I could scarce imagine the frenzy taking place in the city.
It took all of our strength to keep pressing forward as more archery fire blasted above our heads from both sides. Chrom and Libra had advanced a little further than us after our exchange with Cervantes, but they had their own troubles to deal with.
"Fie, look up ahead." Say'ri cursed seeing a human sized rat with purple hair commanding soldiers to protect him at all costs. "That swine, he is using them as a human shield. Has he no honor at all?"
"That is definitely the bastard Excellus you mentioned about." Sully replied in disgust. "It is time that worm learned the meaning of justice."
Robin agreed knowing the damage he had caused and directed his sword forwards. "Say'ri, we will cut down the troops and give you an opening. Strike when you get the chance." He yelled and rushed forward knowing I would follow without hesitation. Tiki and Anna also sprinted into the fray and we battled fierce resistance with each strike of the sword.
"YOU!" The purple rat exclaimed at the sight of Say'ri's face. "Curse the ground that your foul people walk on. You and your despicable brother cost me everything. Everything!"
"Shut your mouth or I will shut it for you." Sully spat out venomously.
"You think I am afraid? Of YOU?!" Excellus cried in hysteria with his right eye twitching rapidly. His body was shaking uncontrollably and he went through fits of laughter with his eyes fixed on only one target. "Come at me then! Come at me and burn!"
"As you wish." Say'ri muttered and rushed forward with Sully in close pursuit. Tiki propelled a fire ball to crash right through the line and both Robin and I held the stragglers at bay so they could not get an attack on our allies.
Without restraint, Sully was the first to jump through on her horse and brought her sword slashing down, but I could not catch a glimpse of anything on than a massive wall of fire as I held the line against a mage.
"G-gods." someone yelled in the background though I could not decipher who made the cry with so much noise around us. All I could hear was more yelling and the sound of flesh tearing when another huge burst of fire engulfed the area the two warriors charged into.
"Ehehehe! Eeh hee. ...Gaaaugh."
…
"LISSA!" Robin yelled out in a massive panic. "Get over here NOW!"
"No!" I cried fearing the worst. When I had a chance to look back at the scene the first thing I noticed was Excellus lying dead with a stab wound through his nonexistent heart, but then my fears were confirmed when I saw Sully and Say'ri both heavily burned and lying on the floor in severe pain.
Part of Sully's face was covered in third degree burns along with the exposed areas of her neck. Say'ri in her leather armor took a stronger blow to her left shoulder that burnt her armor all the way down to where her heart was.
"LISSA!" Robin cried again while I cut down the last swordsmen trying to harm us.
"I'm here!" She came sprinting as fast as she could with Kellam behind her. "Who is hurt?" She asked before seeing the two casualties lying on the ground. "Oh no! Robin get Maribelle too!" She cried urgently while quickly looking at Say'ri's condition and then transitioned to Sully.
"I can't. She is healing Virion from an arrow wound he suffered in the shoulder near an artery."
"No, no. You have to get her. I- I can't save both of them at once. Their wounds are too great." She replied back in terror.
"Is there anything I can do to help?" I asked seeing both of them struggle in pain.
"No, I need another healer. Say'ri is suffering from internal hemorrhaging next to her heart and Sully's lungs are covered in smoke and fire. "W-what do I do?!" Lissa asked horrified. "I need to treat both of them now before it gets any worse."
I looked back at Robin and saw his face turn a palish green. He was sick to his stomach seeing their deformed bodies and I was not faring much better. I had witnessed this display countless times in the past but it did not make the pain or anguish go away no matter how many times I encountered it.
"Lissa." Robin spoke coldly trying to keep his emotions in check. "Who is in a worse condition?"
"I … They could both fall at any moment." She stuttered desperately trying to heal both of them at the same time.
Robin looked back at the charred shepherds on the ground with severe burns. Each were gasping for breath and fighting to live with each moment that passed by.
"Lissa." Robin called out bitterly and in severe anguish. "Heal Say'ri first."
"What?!" She cried out in horror. "But Sully will-"
"They both will at this rate." He clutched his hand so tightly that his nails dug into his skin. "As the tactician, I am ordering you to heal Say'ri first. You can help Sully after our resistance leader is stabilized."
"Urg ..." Sully groaned in pain.
Seeing her move, Robin knelt down next to her and instinctively said, "It is going to be okay. We are going to get you help. Just hang in there for a little longer."
"Is … Erg ... that son of a bitch dead?" She gasped wheezing for breath.
"Yes, he is."
"G-good." She coughed in unbearable pain. "B-be honest. … How bad do I look?"
"A little worse than the time you ate all of that seaweed I gave you in one sitting." He smiled weakly trying to pretend everything was okay but the look in his eyes told another story.
"Damn." *Cough* *Cough* "That bad huh?"
"Nothing we can't fix."
"Gah, looks like I got too careless for once. … You made the right choice though ...I nnnnggh, I would have murdered you if you saved me over Say'ri."
"Forgive me." He grimaced in sorrow.
"Shut it. … Just, tell my folks I died as a great knight."
"And a fierce woman." Robin added sincerely.
Sully smiled hearing that last bit and slowly closed her eyes with the same expression that Cervantes had. One of peace.
…
Robin rose up from the ground and shook his head cursing under his breath. "Anna, Tiki, Lucina. It is just the four of us holding this line now. Let's get this over with so no one shares the same fate against Walhart."
...
From that point on there were no more commands given by out tactician. Instead only action as he charged forward with great speed knowing I would be following behind him ready to support. At one point he challenged two separate soldiers at once while I flanked them from behind and cut through their backs.
No archer nor swordsman could best us when we worked together and the last line of defense fell without much resistance. However, we were not the first to reach Walhart. By the time we arrived at the steps to the throne room I could already see the royal blue hair of my father along with his tight armor that was two or three sizes too small on his towering muscular body.
…
"So the Prince has finally come to challenge me." Walhart spoke in a commanding and firm tone seeing the face of the blue haired lord.
"Oy! Yes. Chrom is ready to make with the dueling to end violent bloodshed!" He proclaimed with a fiery passion.
The fierce eyes of the red armored conqueror quickly summed up the appearance of the lord he saw in front of him. His old and wrinkled face, strong muscular arms, and many callouses on his rough and jagged hands. There was even a small protruding stomach that was too big to fit in the clothes he was wearing. "Then prove your worth before I cut you and your army down myself."
"Is you who will be weeping bitter tears of sorrow to mother once fight is over!" The blue haired lord cried triumphantly.
"Bah, such naiveness. I hope your swordsmanship proves to be keener than your mind."
"Oy. Chrom is very best swordsman! Edge of steel is far sharper than mind ever will be."
"I see. Then face me and perish underneath your own words!" He yelled in a fury and lunged with his axe crashing down like the sound of thunder.
With such ferocious speed, Robin and I barely had time to close the gap as we both used our swords to deflect the blow. The power of his attack was so great that neither one of us knew we could repel it on our own.
"Gods, he is a monster." I grunted struggling to keep hold of my sword while it was pinned against his deadly red axe.
"Erg … Chrom, we could use some help here." Robin muttered sharing the strain.
"Oh... Haha. Many apologies. Chrom makes with the smashing now!" He ran forward and used his armor slayer to strike the Conqueror at full force. However Walhart didn't even budge despite the new hole in his armor.
"Interesting. Tell me. What is your true name?" The red armored titan said intrigued at the mercenary who managed to land the hit on him.
"Is Chrom of course! The great and mighty leader of strength and bondship! … Oy, or was it friendship?" He asked a little confused.
"You are more likely to come from a pack of wolves than a royal family. Now speak your name or I shall take it from you."
"Gah, how did you know Gregor was playing a clever and devious rouse? Gregor's acting was near perfect! It even took thirty minutes to dye red hair blue when Gregor was getting dressed this morning."
"Because only a coward would have someone else fight their battles for them." He scoffed in disgust. "Obviously you are here to die in his place while he watches from the sidelines."
"Think again!" A new voice called out from behind the Conqueror. Just then a sword came crashing down on the titan's back side and this time the King leaned forward in mild pain revealing the black robed man behind him. His face was still covered by the dark shadow of his robes, but there was no mistaking the voice that came from it.
After landing the blow, the masked men lowered his hood to finally reveal the face of my father with his bright gleaming falchion by his side. It had been Robin's plan from the start to hide his identity to keep him safe against those who would seek him out during the battle.
"Now then, is there nothing I can do to convince you to surrender and end this madness?"
"Don't waste my time with questions you already know the answers to boy."
"That is what I thought." He grimaced and braced himself as the Conqueror prepared his next attack on my father. This time neither Robin nor I could get there in time to deflect the blow as his thunderous weapon slashed down once more.
...
"I gotcha!" Sumia yelled out and appeared from the shadows to swipe Chrom out of the range of his attack.
"Another one?" The Conqueror asked while pulling his axe out of the destroyed ground it landed on. "Do you have such little honor that you would risk the lives of all these soldiers to save your own? If you were a true king you would face me without the aid of your guards. If you truly wish to win then prove your strength against mine and settle this matter once and for all.
"My strength comes from the friends around me. If you wish to face me, then you must do it against all of us."
"You are not able to obtain the strength yourself so you rely on others? Such weakness."
"It is you who shows weakness." Robin yelled and attacked his side. That was now the third hit we landed against him and even the conqueror could not keep up with all of us working together.
He was surrounded on all sides without any hopes of breaking free. Gregor, Libra, Chrom, Sumia, Robin, and myself were all spaced out and ready to help each other out on whatever attack he might bring next.
Meanwhile whoever was behind him would strike through the dents in his armor as we withered the ferocious behemoth down with each attack. In the next moment I had an opening and sliced the helmet he was wearing clean off exposing his face and parts of his hair.
"Your end has come!" Chrom yelled and prepared his final attack at the now exposed tyrant. There was no way for him to counter the blow as Robin and I had pinned his axe once more. "Raarrrgh!
Chrom yelled in a fury but just as his sword was about to strike; the conqueror reeled back in extreme pain. None of us knew why until I spotted a large arrow sticking out in between his eyes. Seconds later he dropped his axe and the large titan dropped to the ground making a tremendous thud as his final moment of life expired thanks to a silver arrow and its white tail feathers leaving their mark on his face.
"Huh? ... Virion?" Chrom asked in dismay with his arms still up in the air and his sword ready to strike.
"That is for raiding my homeland you uncouth barbarian." Virion remarked back while lowering his bow triumphantly." He then looked back at my father who was still too stunned to realize what happened. "Oh, my apologies Sir Chrom. Did you want to kill him?"
...
"Did Virion really steal the attack away from grandpa?" Morgan replied out stunned.
"Yes. You can imagine our surprise after all the hard work we put into cornering him, but in the end it didn't matter too much who landed the final blow." Lucina replied nearly out of breath. Retelling such a chaotic time and describing it in detail proved to be just as straining as the battle itself.
"He had just as much of a reason as any of us to kill him." Robin added. "But I am sure he is the only one who will gloat about it for the rest of his life."
"Yeah." Morgan nodded in agreement. "I am sorry to hear about Sully though father. I would have liked to meet her. She sounded like a true warrior."
Robin groaned somberly and said, "She was. Even at the last moment she never stopped fighting for us."
