A/N: "From now on I'm going to try and update EVERY Monday" ...yes, ummm, well...I really did mean to, but - as I've been saying in the authors notes of all of my stories - I'm in the middle of important exams and I haven't had much time from writing. BUT, today I was walking home from the school bus listening to my iPod and this song came on and gave me an idea that I just had to write down. So I'm taking a break from studying to write it...and I'm justifying it because I don't have an exam tomorrow, so yeah...ANYWAY, I always like to picture Alice and Jasper as this perfect couple that have everything worked out, but in reality all couples fight from time to time, no matter how much they love each other. And so, here's my one-shot, I hope you like it... (apologies for the massive section of song, I couldn't pick a smaller bit)
Chapter Thirty: Crazy For You, by JLS (Wow, JLS...that brings back some memories!)
Last night we had a fight
Said some things I wish I'd never
The black marks from last night
From tears you cried still on my sweater
I step over the plate that you broke last night
I pick up your clothes that I threw outside
In the cold light of day we can leave it behind
Out of our minds
I guess, we get a little bit crazy
I guess, we get a little bit cruel
But this is how crazy you make me
Bad enough to think about losing you
But even as I walk away
And I say I'm gonna stay
Only takes a moment or two
'Cause you and I both know the truth
I'm crazy for you, I'm crazy for you
A thousand flowers
The power of saying sorry
So you don't have to call
To find out you know you got me
30. Crazy For You
"Will you just admit it?" Jasper asked, his tone growing irritated. They'd been fighting for hours now.
"There's nothing to admit!" Alice defended.
"You had a vision and you won't tell me what it's about." Jasper said, "Which means it's about me, and it's something bad. Am I going to slip up? Who am I going to kill? Someone we know? A child?"
"You're not going to slip up." Alice told him, "I'd tell you if you were!"
"Not if you were ashamed." Jasper said.
"I wouldn't be ashamed!" Alice protested, "I know it's hard for you, Jazz-"
"What would you know about it?" He snapped, interrupting her.
"Hello, I am a vampire too?" Alice said, "I know what it feels like."
"You don't know what it feels like every time I slip up, every time I disappoint you." Jasper said.
"You don't-" Alice began.
"I'm an empath, Alice." Jasper said, "And even if I wasn't, I could see it in your eyes."
"I'm not disappointed in you! I'm just disappointed because every time I try to help you, I don't succeed and you have to go through all that pain again!" Alice said.
"Well, I'm sorry I'm just an inconvenience." Jasper said sulkily.
"Don't be like that, Jasper!" Alice said.
"You started this by hiding things from me!" Jasper said.
"Since when do I have to tell you every little thing I have a vision about?" She asked.
Both of their voices were getting louder by the second, and neither one was about to back down. They didn't often fight, but when they did it escalated into a war. They'd go off on tangents and end up fighting about completely different things than when the argument started. Old fights and disagreements would be dragged back up and used against one another, because after all; All's fair in love and war.
"It was about me, wasn't it?" Jasper demanded.
"No!" Alice said.
"Don't lie to me!" Jasper yelled.
"It wasn't!" Alice said, her voice matching his.
"Alice, I said don't-" Jasper started.
"It was about Maria, okay?" Alice asked, "Are you happy now?"
"This again?" Jasper asked, rolling his eyes in a way that made Alice furious, "Are you still convinced that she's out to get us all?"
"She is!" Alice yelled at him.
"She's done some bad things, and her morals aren't perfect, but she's a good person deep down. She accepted that I left." Jasper said, "We've made our peace."
"You're too close to her." Alice said, "You don't see it."
"What are you suggesting?" Jasper asked, narrowing his eyes, "You can't possibly think I still have feelings for her?"
"If you didn't, would you still defend her like you do?" Alice asked.
"Don't be so ridiculous!" Jasper cried, "She's nothing to me, Alice. Why do you always accuse me of this?!"
The argument stretched into the night, bringing screaming and crying with it. The rest of the family left when the fight started, and they knew not to return until they were sure the fight was over. It didn't end until the next day, when Alice went up to their room in tears, locking the door behind her. Jasper sat on the sofa for a long time, staring at the wall.
He got up and walked across the room. He had to step over a broken plate that Alice had thrown last night, after he'd accused her of not loving him as much as he loved her. He wished he hadn't said it the moment the words left his lips, but he hadn't been able to take it back. Going outside, he gathered up Alice's clothes from the grass. He'd thrown them there after the argument had turned to the amount of time she spent shopping. The fight had been so stupid that he almost laughed now. They always were.
Jasper loved Alice with all his heart, but sometimes she drove him crazy. Crazy to the point of yelling at her, crazy to the point of walking out the house and leaving her. He knew he'd always come back. He knew that she knew it too.
Alice lay on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. She hated fighting with Jasper. They both got so caught up in it, and became so cruel to each other. Of course, they would both forgive each other and forget about the fight. They always did, but it left Alice with a hollow feeling inside to know that Jasper was mad at her. To know that she could say such horrible things, and hurt Jasper in such a way. But, whatever they said, they both knew that they loved each other. They were being crazy, but it was because they loved each other.
Jasper knocked lightly on the door, "Darlin'?" Alice didn't reply, "I have your shoes."
The door opened and Alice took the pile of shoes and clothes from Jasper. Her eyes were still glittering from tears, and her mascara was smudged down her cheeks. Jasper reached out and gently brushed the black marks from her face. He offered her flowers, a bunch picked from the garden; beautiful and vibrant yellow. She took them and put them in a vase, avoiding looking at Jasper. He took her by the wrist and gently guided her to sit beside him on the bed, "I'm sorry, Darlin'."
"Me too." Alice said, tears brimming in her eyes all over again, "I love you."
"I love you too, Alice." Jasper said. She rested her head on his shoulder and he put an arm around her.
"Can we please never fight again?" Alice asked.
"I'd like that." Jasper said.
The couple would fight again, but not for a long time. That was okay though, because no matter how much they fought, their relationship would never be damaged by it. They would always love each other just as much. That's the thing about relationships; sometimes couples have to argue, not to prove who's right or wrong, but to be reminded that their love is worth fighting for.
A/N: I'm not really happy with how this turned out, but I haven't posted in so long, so it's going up anyway.
Wow so 30 chapters already...seems like I only started this yesterday! Thank you to everyone who's stuck with me since I started this collection, and to everyone who's started reading it since, and especially to everyone who's reviewed or given me ideas/requests. If there's anything you wanna see, just leave a review or PM me and I'll try and get round to it :)
I have the next snapshot already in progress, but after that updates will be few and far between for the next month-ish because of my exams, so be patient with me ;) Hope you liked this one, and leave me a review ;)
