Astrid POV

Astrid continued to hang on to Stormfly, as it was all she could do to stay in the air. Alvin seemed to be able to control the Whispering Death with surprising ease. As he could never gotten his hand on the Book, he had to be using some sort of trick. Alvin wasn't a patient man. It didn't make sense that he could have trained so headstrong a dragon by himself. But who would help a man known for treachery toward even his staunchest allies? She would have to figure that out later, as she and Stormfly continued to dodge and maneuver around the spiked and twisting tail of the blind cave-digging dragon and its equally spiked rider.

After a few more careful dodges, Astrid decide to take a risk. Jumping from Stormfly while she was looping, Astrid tried a slash at Alvin with his axe. Unfortunately, the jump was mistimed, the axe scrapping against his armor. However by a stroke of luck, she managed to find one of the straps that held his armor together. The blunt edge latched onto the armor, pulling Alvin down with her. Falling, flipping through the air, she landed in the snow, tucking her legs underneath her and praying that the snow would break her fall. Alvin fell, but didn't land quite as safely as Astrid did.

Landing hard on the ice and tumbling several more feet, Alvin clambered to his feet, wrenching the axe from his shoulder plate. Looking at the woman charging him, Alvin shifted his stance slightly, in an attempt to take the charge easier. Astrid noticed the shift as she raced towards him and at the last moment, dived at his midsection. While she did move him back, she realized her mistake a few seconds too late. Alvin's knee came up, striking her stomach. The wind knocked out of her, she tried to regain her footing but stopped as spots danced in front of her eyes and the lack of air made it feel like she was being stabbed in the abdomen. She couldn't see, couldn't move, couldn't hear anything but the din of the battle. Blinking, she looked around the spots, trying to get her bearings.

She yelped in pain, feeling herself being pulled up by hair. Her hands scrambled up at the meaty hand holding her, furiously trying to release herself. The blinding pain continued, wanting to drive her mad. Hairs were pulled out, while she heard words faintly around the pain, "Hiccup…me…have the girl…if…true Viking."

Hiccup POV

Dagur was my target. We had always clashed but now, now we would finish this. All the people he killed, all the towns he had razed. I would pay him back in full for each life he had ended. We fought above the clouds, and after knocking him off his Skrill, which promptly turned tail. Dagur fell, cackling madly the whole way. I doubt he understood what was going to happen when he hit the ground. But Dagur's luck just had that way of favoring him. He landed in a snow drift, and by the time I made it down, he had worked his way out and was throwing his knives at Toothless and I. I quickly pulled out my shield, having it expand to protect us. Thinking quickly I pulled out my own bolts, changing my shield to crossbow mode. He dodged the first two, but the third went through his shoe, pinning him in place.

Suddenly, over the din of the battle, I heard Alvin call, "Hiccup, come and face me. I have the girl you care for. Come get her, if you are a true Viking." I looked around for the source to see him holding Astrid by her hair. A second later, her screams reached me. That was the one sound I knew I would be terrified of ever hearing. Firing off another bolt, hopefully to keep Dagur pinned in place, I took off for her.

Flying as fast as Toothless could, I could see Alvin raising his dagger closer and closer to her head, right before I was knocked sideways, off of Toothless and down towards the freezing waters below. Thinking quickly, I pulled out the flaps of my flight suit. I was able to easily get away, but remembering that Alvin had Astrid. I looked for her, and saw her lying limp on the ground. Pushing away the thought of what that could mean, I charged at Alvin, sword alight and ready to carve his heart out.

Unfortunately, I never made it as the ice rumbled underneath me, and a dragon the size of the island of Berk itself, and with scales as dark as Toothless, erupted from the waters. "Come Hiccup, You know you have lost. Bow and I may show you mercy." A gravelly, deep voice called out. Looking to the top of the Bewilderbeast, I saw Drago. Six and half feet tall, dressed in the skins of dragons that he killed, and wielding a halberd in one hand, he was a fearsome sight to behold. Nevertheless, he had to be defeated. Looking around I saw Mom, lying across Toothless, both of them still stunned from their crash landing. Astrid was huddled at Alvin's feet and Drago and Dagur were closing in on me. Wait, Dagur was back? That maniac was actually able to rip his feet away from the bolts? Ewww, those scars were not going to be pretty later.

This was going to be bad.
