A/N: Hello my lovely readers! Tonight we leave 2015 behind and say hello to 2016, so what would be more fitting than a little New Year's Eve one shot?

Chapter Thirty Four: Alice and Jasper move into the new year together...

34. On New Year's Eve

Jasper could never decide whether Alice's talent of foresight was a gift or a curse. Of course, it was very useful in keeping the family safe, and Jasper had to admit that the future was very interesting, to say the least.

But at the same time, he didn't think he'd want the gift. He loved surprises, and thought that the unknown was exciting. He thought that life would be rather dull if he knew each and every event that was going to happen, and exactly when it would happen.

It was on New Year's Eve that the thought bugged Jasper so much that he had to ask his wife how she could bare it.

Alice giggled and shook her head at Jasper as if he were a child struggling to do math, "You've got it wrong Jasper."

"How so?" Jasper asked.

"Sometimes my gift is a curse." Alice admitted, "Because I see terrible things and sometimes there's nothing I can do to stop them."

Jasper nodded. He'd comforted his wife many a time when she'd seen tragedies in the future. A child being run over, a bridge collapsing, a mother losing her baby. Things that Alice had no control over, couldn't do anything about. He'd seen - and felt - how broken it made her.

Then Alice smiled, "But mostly it is a gift, because mostly I get to see all the wonderful things that are going to happen to me."

"But doesn't it ruin the surprise?" Jasper asked, "You lose all the anticipation!"

"You ask so many questions, Jasper." Alice teased, "It's nearly midnight. Let's go downstairs and join the others."

She straightened Jasper's tie and then took his hand, leading him downstairs.

Music was blaring and the family - including the extended cousins and friends - were dancing merrily.

"ONE MINUTE TO MIDNIGHT!" Emmett's voice boomed across the room.

"I still don't understand." Jasper said softly in Alice's ear as they all made their way outside to where Emmett was waiting with fireworks at the ready.

Alice turned and smiled at her husband, "We are about to start 2016. For you, tonight is a night of wondering, waiting, and hoping. You can only dream of what the next year will bring. I already know what it will bring."

"THIRTY SECONDS PEOPLE!" Emmett yelled.

"I know that 2016 will be the year that we all go away to Isle Esme. We'll get caught in a terrible storm and you and I will camp out in the rain, lying in each other's arms." Alice said, a soft smile on her face as she remembered her visions, "I know it's the year that you ask me to renew our wedding vows, and I get to start planning our second wedding. It's the year that we'll finally go to India and we'll get lost and end up in hysterics trying to find our way back to the hotel."

"10...9...8!" Everyone began to chant, "7...6!"

"I know that 2016 will be a year filled with happy moments with you, the man I love." Alice continued.

"3...2..."

Alice leaned in close to Jasper and joined in with the crowd in a whisper, "One."

Their lips met and they kissed, oblivious to the screams of "Happy New Year!" around them.

When they pulled away they were both smiling.

"Knowing the future doesn't spoil the happy moments." Alice said, "It let's me live them over and over again."

Suddenly, Jasper thought that Alice's gift wasn't so bad at all.

And both knew that the new year would bring them nothing but happiness.
