I would like to start this off by saying… I warned you about being overpowered at the start of the Plus One. If you are one of those people with a strange problem with OC's having awesome powers… you never should have read my fic! XD
The before I post edit: I POST THIS NOW AND THEN I POST SOMETHING… ELSE TOMORROW! K?
Thanks for the kind words you guys have given me with the various EXTRAS chapters, glad you guys enjoy this, it encourages me to keep going. Honestly I never even considered anyone saying the last chapter was 'cute' I could make a joke and be like "I'm not cute, I'm awesome!" but I'm not gonna do that. I don't really know what I expected you guys to say but cute was not something I even thought of. Anyway, you guys have given me a couple ideas so far, let's see what I can do with them.
One idea is pretty simple, what if I got addicted to a game? I thought of what game it should be, seeing as I'm currently waiting on the VERY slow download of Battlefield Hardline, why not have that be the game? I would probably be playing that right now instead of typing this if it was loaded yet, it's like 26% right now so ya…
Now I probably wouldn't get THIS into it, but for the sake of the fic and shenanigans, I will.
Desclaimer: Needless to say, I don't own RWBY, and I don't own Battlefield Hardline or any other Battlefield game, or any game at all. I own a copy of BF4 and BF3, but I had nothing to do with making the games, so don't freaking overreact and sue me… please…
Another day, another row of classes to go through, although it's bearable normally, it helps to have friends around in the class, maybe even a lover? Well Blake doesn't have that luxury right now it seems, as she and the rest of RWBY are walking to their first class, without AJ anywhere near.
"Good morning!" Blake said upon walking into his room, and saw him sitting on a chair in front of the TV and playing a video game.
"Goodmorning Blake." AJ said smiling warmly to her before turning back to the game.
"Hey, you need to get ready for classes, you have about 20 minutes." Blake said walking over to him.
"It won't take long to finish this mission, I'll catch up." He said before pausing the game and kissing her quickly. "Go on ahead ok?" He asked softly.
"Oh… ok." Blake said when she recovered from his sudden kiss. She walked out and went with RWBY assuming he would catch up.
AJ quickly got back into the game and forgot what he said about catching up.
So Blake had to go through classes, and lunch, without him.
"Hey Blake, is AJ sick or something?" Ruby asked.
"No, at least I don't think so." Blake responded before going into her thoughts judging the chance that he forgot and kept playing his game, would he really just forget his class like that?
When classes were over and they went to check on him, he was in fact, still playing the game. Sitting there with his headset on and blatantly ignoring their presence.
"Hey! AJ!" Yang said and walked over to him. "What game are you playing that is so damn interesting!?"
"Battlefield Hardline, and this is a stealth part that I need to focus on." He said focusing on the screen and arresting a guy. (27% Yay…)
"What about Blake? Did you really forget about her?" Yang asked.
"Of course not!" AJ said offended by the suggestion.
"Then why are you playing this stupid game instead of going with her to our classes?" Weiss asked.
"Because it a new game and I'm almost through with the story. Besides, you said Destiny was stupid and look how that ended up, you were obsessed with that game too!" AJ responded, before looking back at the game.
"You promise you'll be done by tomorrow?" Blake asked.
"Yes Blake, I promise." He said softly so Blake would understand he would keep his promise.
Blake sighed. "If you truly promise then…" She kissed him on the cheek. "Have fun." She said smiling and left, leaving the rest of RWBY with no choice but to leave.
The next day.
"Good morning!" Blake said happily as she walked in and saw AJ was actually asleep still. 'Must have played all night to get the game done in time.' "Hey, wake up." She said as she nudged him slightly.
AJ groaned and rolled away from her.
Blake rolled him back to her and kissed him hard.
"You awake now?" She asked smiling.
"Mm-hmm." He hummed a groggy yes and slowly got out of bed.
"You didn't have to play all night to keep your promise you know. You need to get enough sleep for classes." Blake pointed out.
"I didn't stay up so late to complete the game, I completed to game not long after you left, I just kept playing multiplayer after that and was having too much fun to stop." He said quietly and went to the bathroom. When he came out he seemed much more alert and they went out with the others to their classes.
It was clear to Blake though, that AJ wasn't focusing in class.
She was right, AJ was thinking about the game the whole time, for all his classes he was thinking about different weapons and gear and maps and things he wanted to try and just all in all looking forward to classes ending. When they did he kissed Blake goodbye and said he was going to go play the game now, Blake conceded since he probably just was impatient to get back to the game.
The next day however, he was back to not leaving his room.
"Come on big guy! We got classes to go too!" Yang said and AJ ignored her. So she stood in front of the screen, he just leaned around her. She tried grabbing the remote, he was easily able to keep it away all while still playing the game.
"I'm not gonna kiss you for two weeks if you don't stop playing right now!" Blake threatened.
"Right, like you would punish yourself for this." AJ responded ignoring the threat.
Blake thought about other ways to get him to stop. "I'll… I'll break up with you!"
"Whoa, Blake wait!" Yang said worried.
"Don't do anything drastic here!" Weiss said surprisingly concerned about this.
AJ simply smiled and stood up walking over to her before starting to make out with her.
Yang quickly covered Ruby's eyes till the couple was done.
When they stopped AJ continued to smile at Blake's shocked face and cupped her cheeks in his hands.
"You and I both know you would never do that." He said matter-of-factly.
Blake was still too stunned to move so AJ eventually backed up and went back to his chair.
"That… that was so unlike him…" Blake said slowly blushing heavily.
"Well…" Yang started trying to think of a way to get AJ to stop playing his game.
"What now?" Ruby asked.
"Let's regroup and think of a plan." Weiss said and they agreed and dragged Blake with them.
AJ held back tears at the thought of breaking up with her and went back to his game to get rid of those thoughts. He didn't see them for the rest of the day. (32%)
The next day he had slept for a few hours and started playing again, he thought he heard a click of a door unlocking but when he looked to the door he saw it was still locked, he then remembered that unlocking sound was from him unlocking a new ability, he hadn't heard that sound in a long time, what had he unlocked then?
Anticipation
Excitement
'Wait… what?'
"I can… feel… something… like… emotion?... Can I feel other people's emotions now?" He asked himself and tried hiding the feelings, they went away easily enough. "I guess if I was given power by the Angel of Emotion… I would have to assume that's why I can feel other people's emotions."
It seemed that when he wanted too he could feel emotions within a certain range, he could also just turn off the ability and not feel anyone's emotions, but it acts like a sensor, if there is someone nearby, he can feel their emotion… but seeing as he just got this ability, it only works on someone within line of sight, or someone close by… so those feelings… 'RWBY must have finally made a plan then.'
He turned off the game and waited for them to come in. When they did they saw him smiling and standing just out of range of the door so he didn't get hit on the way in, basically, the moment they walked in he was in their face with a scary smile.
"Oh! AJ! You're awake…" Blake said.
"Yep! Good morning to you all." He said bowing slightly.
'They're afraid I know, and they're visually creeped out by my smile… wow, I like this ability! And the fact that I can just turn it off is nice as well.'
"So, ready to head to class?" AJ asked them.
"Um… yes… but we need to do something first." Weiss said. AJ nodded.
"K. Go do what you need to do, don't worry about me." AJ said still smiling oddly.
"… Sorry about this AJ…" Ruby said and walked over to the game console.
"Hmm?" AJ feigned confusion. He saw what she was about to do and got between her and the game. "I can't let you do that."
"You need to take a break from that game." Yang demanded.
"I'm bored! Volume 3 is still a long time away and the game is fun! Why not!?" AJ asked angrily.
"Because you suddenly are anti-social, you won't talk to any of us and just keep thinking about that game the whole time!" Weiss explained.
"Please AJ… I'm worried about you…" Blake said sadly and her cat ears flattened.
AJ's ears did the same seeing this.
"Why don't you guys play with me?" He asked hopefully.
"No! We aren't feeding your obsession!" Weiss yelled.
"Blake?" AJ looked at Blake.
She thought about it for a bit and looked at everyone staring expectantly at her. "…Sure." She said smiling at him and he smiled as well.
"NOW!" Ruby yelled and Weiss and Yang threw a net that they suddenly pulled from out of nowhere.
AJ used his Aura double to dash out of the way of the net and jumped out the window to get away from them.
"Crap! Follow him!" Yang said looking out the window and they all ran out his room to get down to the courtyard to follow him.
Just falling down to ground level had him out of range of sensing their emotions. 'This ability has like, no range right now, If I just keep using it, it should get better range over time… I hope.'
He ran into the middle of the courtyard and was intercepted by Ruby and quickly surrounded by the rest of RWBY.
"Just like before the dance huh?" He said to the four of them and let out his Aura so he could move and react quickly.
Weiss tried to freeze him but he jumped out of the way and shoved her down with a pulse of Energy.
Yang tried to grab him and he easily redirected her attack past him and shoved her away.
Ruby tried to trip him with her scythe while dashing around him. He jumped to the side and into the air repeatedly and dodged all her attempts.
Blake tried to tie him up with her ribbons but he slapped the weapon away midair and simply smiled confidently at her.
Yang tried to punch him while he wasn't looking but a twitch of his Faunus ears says that he heard her and dodged a few punches before grabbing her arm and throwing her into the ice that Weiss had made earlier, shattering on contact.
"Ladybug!" Ruby called out.
Ruby dashed at AJ repeatedly and he again dodged it all, Blake joined in and he still dodged despite having to deal with Blake's two blades and Ruby randomly flying in. He simply leaned away from or redirected all her swings and jumped away when Ruby came in.
"Ugh! It's like he knows whenever I'm going to attack!" Ruby complained. 'Your emotion gives it away. Good practice for this new ability.'
"Man, it must be pretty embarrassing how I'm beating all four of you in front of the whole school." AJ said rubbing it in. A few nearby students laughed at this.
"Ice Flower!"
Ruby jumped over to Weiss and they prepared to fire.
AJ jumped to his right to dodge, then his left, then let his double appear to take the hit while he jumped back, Blake was right when she first saw AJ do this, he was definitely copying her Semblance, using a double to dash around quickly, dodging attacks and changing direction in mid-air.
He landed the back flip and never lost his confident smile.
Yang got irritated at this and shot a few rounds from Ember Celica at him.
He lost his smile as his eyes widened in shock and he quickly put a glyph in front of him to block the explosive rounds.
"Yang careful! There are other students watching!" AJ pointed out. "You might hit them!"
"He's right." Weiss said. (35%... so damn slow!)
"Checkmate!"
Weiss fired a few white magic shots at AJ while Blake charged. AJ put up a glyph to block the shots and looked to his right to see Blake use her Semblance to get around the glyph and he quickly dropped the glyph to block her blades with his wrist guards.
She used her Semblance to dash around him and he spun around following her and continuing to block. She did a few circles around him before jumping back as a few shots from Weiss hit AJ while he was distracted and held him in the air and trapped his arms and legs.
"Ya! We got him!" Yang cheered.
"It is called Checkmate for a reason." Weiss said proudly.
"While you guys have improved…" AJ started smiling proudly that they managed to get him. His smile changed to a sinister one however. "You still can't beat me." He said and released a lot of Aura in a massive burst that pushed the team away and shattered the glyph trap.
"What!? That's impossible!" Weiss yelled disbelievingly.
"I know. I know. I'm overpowered… But these things tend to happen when you are touched by an angel." He said before releasing a LOT of Aura, so much that wings of Aura appeared, and dashing towards them at speeds that only Ruby could keep up with.
He palm struck Blake in the chest, punched Yang in the side and then the face while she was reeling, hit Weiss in the back, and went to hit Ruby but she moved and it ended up being a glancing blow that knocked her down but not out, all in about a second.
"Now if I was an enemy, and I defeated your whole team, what would you do now?" AJ asked as he stood there waiting for her to get up.
"I… would fight…" She said as she struggled to stand up.
"You would lose." He said simply and let his Aura go back in and soon he had no Aura flowing out of him at all. "It's over Ruby, you lost. Though I will admit, you guys and team JNPR have a lot more potential than the other teams."
Ruby had the feeling he was going somewhere with this. "W-What?" She asked confused.
"I… am really tired after letting that much Aura out… I'm… just gonna go lie down over there… ok?" He said struggling to breathe or stand and pointed in a random direction and walked away.
When he woke up he found he was still lying in the grass but all of RWBY were staring down at him, Ruby was confused and the rest were angry.
"Ruby told us what you said." Blake said.
"Was this some kind of test of something?" Yang asked angrily.
"You could have just used that bow of yours and have been gone, why didn't you do that then?" Weiss asked.
AJ spoke without even trying to get up. "Heh… well I kind of wanted to test myself, it's like I have three different modes. Normal, no Aura flowing out, Stage one I let my Aura out, I'm faster, more aware. Stage two, letting out so much Aura it takes the shape of see-through wings behind me and my Aura is flowing out of my like a river, I am incredibly fast, and strong, my enemy would have to be pretty powerful to make me go to stage two. I have to use that stage as often as I can in training so I don't pass out just because I used it for ten seconds, like I did today. If I can keep that going, I could be the most powerful Hunter ever… probably…
Anyway… there was another reason… Glynda wanted me to test you guys. She wanted to see how well you can do against an enemy as powerful as I am. Your teamwork is still very good, good job on the callouts Ruby."
Ruby giggled from his praise.
"The formations are great. Weiss, be ready in case someone can break out of your trap like I did. I don't think anyone has that ability, but it wouldn't hurt to be ready." AJ said to Weiss. "Sorry for beating you guys before you could try all your formations though."
"Oh well. Some of us improved at least." Ruby said cheerfully.
"Let's try to make sure we all improve next time." Weiss said to them all.
"Yes, I would say you all did fairly well given the circumstances." Glynda said as she approached them.
"Ah, there she is." AJ said looking up before giving up and setting his head back down.
"You all did well, but if AJ was actually trying to hurt you all the entire time you wouldn't have fared as well." Glynda pointed out and they all looked down.
"AJ. You fared well as expected, but that 'Stage Two' of yours is far from practical." Glynda pointed out and he nodded in understanding.
"Ya, I know, RWBY was able to take the strong hits and still fight, I just stopped the fight before they found the strength to get up. Someone like Torchwich would easily last the ten second barrage and meanwhile I wouldn't be able to fight anymore! It's going to be a long time before I make any good use of that." AJ explained.
"Good, well, thank you for going along with my test AJ. Thank you all for not destroying too much of the school, keep training." Glynda said with finality and walked away.
"So are you done playing that stupid game now?" Weiss asked.
"Yes Weiss, I am. Glynda didn't tell me how to get you guys to fight me all at once and I decided, 'Why just have a simple match in the arena? Why not make them get creative?' I had you guys think of a plan to stop me playing the game, even if it was a pretty poor plan, I mean come on, a net? Really?" AJ teased.
Yang laughed sheepishly.
"And it gave me something fun to do until then." He said smiling but then looked sadly at Blake. "I'm sorry for doing that to you. I hated every second of it, but I had to do it for my plan to work."
"It's ok, you had your reasons." She said and kissed him. "Just don't ever do it again." She said threateningly.
"I won't." AJ said chuckling.
"So, it seems we passed the test." Weiss said as they started walking back to their dorms.
"It can be hard to tell with Glynda but she would have said if you needed major improvement." AJ said. 'Maybe I should tell them about my ability to sense emotion… nah… they don't need to know…'
The next day the five of them were in a squad in Battlefield Hardline multiplayer.
Ya… happy ending!...
Ok, I tried going the completely anti-social route and just locking myself away but I felt bad doing that to Blake and just couldn't do it. I ended up doing this much milder version instead. I planned for more when this started but I couldn't bring myself to be so heartless.
I am not terribly satisfied with this… it kind of went everywhere at the end I feel, though I don't know what I would change.
I tried my best to show off how powerful I could be while also pointing out that I won't be going crazy in Volume 3 canon, the real reason I did this was to prepare for a different fic entirely! A fic where you need to be powerful to survive! More powerful than anyone we've seen on Remnant! No idea when I'll do that fic cause I don't want to just drop Radioactive like that…
Oh well, sorry Terry if I didn't nail what you wanted in the fic… I just feel like I shouldn't have done this at all… it just didn't turn out well… but I also kind of want it to be there anyway… I'm so conflicted!
I was planning on something funny and by the end of this… by the end of this I just had a completely different fic than I planned… I think that's why I don't like it… I see now… it's also because of how much information I threw out at the end… when you put that much out you feel like you missed something or worded something wrong… That addition of the new emotion sense and Stage Two were ideas I already had but was going to save for later… then I just drop them both on you like that…Oh well!
Follow and or favorite, read my bio if you for some reason still haven't, leave a review but be gentle with this one, I already said I'm not happy with it… Check out me other fics, have a great week everyone!
…
41%... damn it this is gonna take another day and a half at this rate!
I'll make it up to you guys for posting a meh one shot with a new idea I just had! I'll just post it as soon as I can!
All right, I feel a bit better about the fic now that I've looked over it again. Maybe I was just overreacting.
I AM NOTHING IF NOT CONSISTANT WITH MY POSTS! UNLESS I ABANDON THAT LIKE I'M ABOUT TO DO! THEN I'M JUST SPOILING YOU GUYS WITH EARLY POSTS!
YOU.
ARE.
