Katniss POV
I have this whole thing which I will be telling Peeta once I see him today.
Hey Peeta, you know what happened yesterday and I just want to apologize for that. I was just thinking about something and shot back at you. I got angry at you and it happens when I get screwed up. So sorry Peeta, please forgive me.
Usually, I am not a girl who just keeps asking others sorry and apologising but what to do, Annie and Madge got me make include millions of sorry in my speech. Clove just went texting Cato and threatened to make Johanna put an ax on my face if I don't go and apologize Peeta. But come on, Katniss Everdeen never asks sorry and I did not commit a murder, seriously.
Next day in the morning, Clove seems glued to her phone and tells that Cato texted her that Peeta refused to join us for breakfast. I feel guilty for that and then Clove squeals telling that Peeta accepted to come and join for breakfast and would like to tell me something which makes me nauseous because I hate and I mean it. I hate these kind of conversations.
We make our way to the café where the boys are already seated. Gale comes and gives Madge a peck while Clove rushes to Cato and they speak something and Finn gives a beaming smile to Annie while he sits in middle of Finn and Cato looking down. When I call his name which comes out more like a whisper, he slowly looks at me and the look in his face, I can't figure it out.
"I'm sorry for yesterday, Katniss. I just overreacted for what you said yesterday. Can we just forget it and pretend as if nothing happened yesterday?"
Well, this was unexpected but yeah, this was the thing which I need but I answer with a nod which seems enough for him. Others look at us weirdly. Finnick, thankfully tries to break the silence.
"Are we gonna waste a whole day apologizing each other and holding hands here?" he asks giving Gale and Madge a pointed look.
"Alright, alright, so what do you propose Fishy or more better Finny?" Gale says mocking him with the name Ann had given him.
"Alright , lets go to the lake and hike through the forest and have a picnic or a long drive and we could even swim in the lake with Ann and she could even change to a bikini" he says getting a smack in the shoulder by Ann and everyone laughs but agrees but Madge asks in a tiny voice.
"Can we just strike off hiking from the list?"
"Trust me Madge, nothing will happen this time. We'll make everything clear and besides, I wouldn't have got an amazing girlfriend if you were not hiking in the forests" Gale says earning a kiss from Madge.
We arrange everything and get on the car but this time with Gale driving and Madge sitting next to him, Cato with Clove practically sitting on his lap, Ann, thankfully insists that I sit with her so that she could avoid Finnick's 'touchy-touchy' talk and me relived that I won't be spending my time in the car with Peeta. We speak about something and nothing in our way to the lake but they decided that we see the lake during the sunset while they could chill off somewhere nearby by stopping in shops for junk foods and driving somewhere this whole place without getting lost and the fact seeing the sunset by the lake was suggested by Peeta, speaking of which, he seems to have had a fight or if you call it and speaking cheerfully with us. Yet, we both never had direct face to face conversations with each other.
We first stop at a place which seems like a small coffee shop kind of thing, it turns out to be a bakery of sorts and the aroma of the shop hits us.
"Smells like home" Peeta says as we enter. We grab some pastries and cupcakes, muffins and whatever seems delicious to our eyes. The boys, meaning Cato and Gale offered to pay for their girlfriends snack and winking at them telling that it was a gift they would give. Clove goes and gives Cato a big hug and kisses him telling how amazing he is while Finn as he insists on calling him mocks them by making kissy faces and sounds. While Madge seems like a silent one, is currently eating like a caveman that Gale says he is once again re-thinking his plan as he says that he is afraid Madge would give him the run for money. Peeta just looks around and tries not to look at me but failing miserably while Annie just eats like a lady of England. Always the good one.
As we finish and leave the bakery, Finn offers to drive until the next stop and everyone agrees. We soon get into the car and get ready for leaving.
"Get ready for the real adventure, guys." He says and steps on the gas pedal and that's when we realize what he means.
He is driving at over speed for an adventure which seems to amuse him while it scares me to the core and that's when the traffic police appear.
Uh, oh.
