Once again, I have had an idea, and I want to write it… so… yeah… I'm writing it. This EXTRAS fic is an idea dump after all.
Enjoy, and maybe give feedback?
Code Remnant
(It's an AU story, roll with it)
"Blake! Behind you! Watch out!" Ren's voice was heard over the comms.
Blake spun around and cut down the Beowolf that snuck up behind her with her katana.
"Thanks for the warning, Ren." Blake thanked as she looked at her fallen foe as it faded away.
"No problem. Sun? How are things going on your end?" Ren asked.
"Eh… could be going better." Sun commented as he backflipped away from a swipe of an Ursa's paw.
He landed and readied his staff. He fired off a shot from his staff at the Ursa, hitting it square in the head and bouncing harmlessly off its bone armor.
"These things have a lot of armor on them!" Sun complained before firing another shot that also bounced off of its head.
"Yeah, and they have quite a bit of health as well." Ren added.
"Hey! I can hear you grinning!" Sun pointed out angrily before getting swiped by the Ursa.
Ren chuckled at this. "Well, no one is really in any danger right now, so I might as well enjoy your misery."
"Oh great, he's in his sadistic mode right now." AJ deadpanned before cutting off a Beowolf's hand and then stabbing it in the chest with his sword.
"I love it when Renny's in his sadistic mode!" Nora commented happily while blasting down a tree with a grenade launcher, revealing a lowly Beowolf hiding behind it. She blew it up as well.
"Yeah, he's just like you when he's like this, Nora." Blake commented with a chuckle.
A Beowolf lunged at Blake, who expertly flipped over it before spinning around and throwing her Gambol Shroud at it while it was attached to its ribbon. It took out the Beowolf, but another one snuck behind her while her weapon was coming back to her. It cut her down and she fizzled away into small particles that also disappeared.
She opened her eyes and the door in front of her opened up, allowing her to step out of the cramped metal cylinder, the Scanner.
"I thought I still had some life points left…" Blake mumbled.
"Sorry AJ, but Blake got devirtualized." Ren said into his headset's mic.
AJ cheered. "Hah! She owes me a kiss!"
Ren facepalmed. "You always were so concerned every other time she got devirtualized." He pointed out.
"It's like you said, we aren't in danger!" AJ argued. "This is just a training session!" He jumped over another Beowolf and cut its head off while he was still in the air. He spun around just in time to block a swipe from a Beowolf with his sword, though the force of the attack made him slide back.
Ren couldn't help but look at the picture on his screen of AJ in his combat gear, and notice the numbers below the picture go down slightly.
"AJ, you lost some life points there." Ren alerted.
AJ growled in annoyance. "Why!? I blocked it! I get that that hurt a bit blocking such a powerful attack, but Remnant is a virtual world, right!? So it should be like a video game, right!? You shouldn't lose health if you didn't actually get hit!" He complained.
"Hey! I'm the one that should be complaining! I have the fewest life points right now!" Sun pointed out as he finally fired a shot that wounded the Ursa which was promptly blow up by Nora. "I… do have the fewest life points left, right Ren?" He asked hesitantly.
"Yes, you do." Ren answered. "You've been hit quite a few times."
"Come on, Sun! Step up your game!" AJ said jokingly as he stabbed the last Beowolf in his area.
Sun's staff broke into two nunchucks. *Bang* *Bang* *Bang* He dropped the last three Beowolves in a second.
"I have stepped up my game." Sun started with a grin. "Question is… Can you reach the new height I've set it at?"
AJ sighed and glanced at his fellow Faunus. "Alright alright… I wasn't asking for you to make this into a competition." He smiled. "Good job with those last ones. How come you suddenly took them out like you've done it a thousand times?"
"I guess I just do better when I change my staff into nunchuck mode." Sun said with a shrug.
"Yeah, you were kinda getting your butt kicked up till then." Ren commented.
"Dammit, you beat me to it!" AJ said with a chuckle.
There was a loud excited cheer as both guys were suddenly blown up and they fizzled away.
The other two scanners opened as Sun and AJ stumbled out, with AJ falling onto his hands and knees and Sun holding onto the edge of the scanner as to not fall himself.
The third scanner opened up as Nora stepped out, cheery as ever.
"That was awesome!" She shouted happily.
"Dammit. Nora, you know it actually hurts when you do that!" AJ said weakly, glaring up at her.
"Sorry! I couldn't really help myself." Nora said reluctantly.
"You gonna be ok?" Blake asked as she helped AJ up.
"Yeah, I'll live… The pain goes away after awhile and it's not like she really killed me." AJ noted reluctantly. "That kiss would make me feel better though…" He shyly added.
She chuckled slightly before planting a quick kiss on his lips. He smiled before grabbing her and kissing her back.
"Alright kitties, there are other people in the room." Sun pointed out and the couple blushed and separated.
"Right… sorry." AJ said shyly.
"Sorry." Blake said as well.
"Aww! You two are adorable!" Nora exclaimed and grabbed the two feline Faunus in a tight hug.
They got in the elevator and went up one level to find Ren waiting for them.
"Well, I hope you all were able to improve with your weapons and abilities." Ren said as he stepped into the large elevator before pressing the button to go up to the ground floor.
"I'm getting better." AJ commented.
"Same." Blake said with a nod.
"I'm doing great!" Nora said cheerily. "I love my Warhammer/grenade launcher thing!"
"I'm still not doing that great…" Sun said hesitantly.
"None of us are, really." AJ commented. "We haven't been at this very long."
"Well, we've done it enough times to hold our own at least." Blake pointed out.
"I'm still waiting for virtualization to have some sort of side effect on you guys." Ren said.
"I hope not! I want to go in there as much as we can!" Nora said.
"No, Nora." Ren denied, sounding like he was her dad or something. "We only go to Remnant when we all have time to train, or when G.R.I.M.M launches an attack."
"I hate that all I get is a sword!" AJ complained. "You get a katana, that's also a gun, that you can throw with a sheathe that can be a blade of its own." He said as he pointed at Blake. "You get a staff that can be a pair of nuchucks. Both of which you can shoot from." He said as he pointed at Sun. "You would probably get some kind of dual SMG's with blades on the end if you went in!" He said as he pointed at Ren.
"That was… oddly specific." Ren commented.
"Yeah the idea just kind of came to me as I was looking at you." AJ explained.
"You may only have a sword but you also have those multiuse glyphs." Blake pointed out, trying to comfort him. "Those are really cool!"
"Yeah but we all get special abilities." AJ pointed out. "I get glyphs, Sun gets clones that burst on contact, you get afterimages that propel you around, and Nora gets lighting!"
"And I can turn off the activated towers!" Nora added happily.
"That too." AJ said.
The elevator door opened and they found themselves in a small, old hallway. They went down to the right and soon found a door on their left, they opened the door and walked up the stairs before opening the door at the top. AJ looked around to make sure no one was nearby before stepping out, letting the others know to do the same.
The small old building they stepped out of was right at the edge of the campus, only a few meters from the forest. There was a DO NOT ENTER sign on the door, which they closed. This part of the campus went unused, basically abandoned, and even if someone went in, they needed to know the passcode to use the elevator, which was also disguised to look like any other door.
"Well, we all got classes tomorrow, so we should get some rest." Ren commented as he and Nora started walking towards the left side of the building. "See you all tomorrow."
"""See you.""" AJ, Blake, and Sun said and waved as their friends walked away.
AJ looked up with a light smile at the full moon over their heads. 'Incredible to think that we have people living on the moon right now."
"So, what are we gonna do now?" Sun asked excitedly.
"Um… we're going to bed…" AJ said hesitantly as he wrapped an arm around Blake.
"What!? We aren't gonna play video games!?" Sun asked in a whiny tone.
"Sorry." AJ apologized, feeling sorry. "I'll play tomorrow night, how's that?"
Sun sighed in resignation. "Fine… At least you try and make it up to me…"
"I do try." AJ commented.
"Well, goodnight Sun." Blake said before they started to walk around the left side of the building.
"Goodnight." Sun waved before he walked into the forest.
The next day.
"Nora, please pay attention." Ren requested quietly.
"Sorry Ren." Nora whispered loudly before putting her phone back in her backpack and looking at the front of the class, where the teacher was.
"So, can anyone tell me…" Prof- Doctor Oobleck started. "What is a mitochondria?"
Ren sighed. 'This is something everyone should know by now.'
"Ms. Schnee." Oobleck called out. "What is the answer?"
"The powerhouse of the cell." Weiss said proudly.
"Excellent, you understand the one thing the school system made sure to beat into your heads." Oobleck deadpanned, basically saying she had nothing to be smug about, causing the whole class to fill with laughter.
Well, Ren merely chuckled, but still, he laughed too.
"Now, onto real biology." Oobleck started.
Meanwhile, on the moon, amongst the half-dome buildings built into the moon. Sparks flew out of the control panel to the door to one of the buildings, and black smoke came out of it.
The smoke slowly trailed along until it found a man sleeping in one of the small beds. It snuck into his body through his nose, and the man writhed in pain before waking up and growling.
Ren heard a quiet beeping coming from his backpack. He discretely opened it up and checked his Scroll, noticing the picture of a cylindrical tower on it as the beeping stopped.
"What!?" Ren whispered, shocked. "Crap! Nora! G.R.I.M.M has launched an attack!" He whispered to his friend, sitting next to him on his right.
Nora gasped in excitement. "Really!? Let's go!" She whispered.
Ren stood up from his seat. "Sir? Can I go to the infirmary?"
"Hmm? I suppose." Oobleck said reluctantly.
"I'll take him there!" Nora said as she stood up as well and they both left the class.
"If you ever feel sick, be sure to tell a staff member!" Oobleck said. "Even if you don't feel very sick, you could still get others sick, and you never know if it might become more serious! In fact, today, we'll be going over how diseases spread, depending on if its spread via a virus, or a bacterium!"
AJ and Blake couldn't help but hear their phones go off. They could have set them on vibrate, but putting on a ringtone that only Faunus could hear was easier. Sure, other Faunus in class could hear, but that was hardly something to worry about. They were the only Faunus in Glynda's history class, oddly enough.
They both checked their phones and saw a text from Ren. "G.R.I.M.M. attack."
'Well shit.' AJ mentally commented.
"Excuse me, Ms. Goodwitch? May I use the restroom?" Blake asked.
"May I as well?" AJ asked.
Glynda raised an eyebrow at them, specifically at AJ. "You're lucky I know you well enough to know that you two won't do anything… inappropriate." The two Faunus blushed as people laughed and commented in a whisper. "In fact, I know you very well." Glynda looked at him sympathetically. "You don't have to wait for someone else to ask before you can go as well."
"Glynda, can we go or not?" AJ asked, embarrassed by the attention and wanting to get away from it.
Glynda let out a barely audible chuckle at his embarrassment. "Yes, you both may go."
They both quickly evacuated the classroom and headed back towards the "abandoned" building at the edge of the campus.
Back on the moon.
The possessed man began walking towards the door leading out of the building.
"Hey! Carl? What are you doing, buddy?" A younger man asked from his bed.
The possessed man simply glared at his friend before continuing to walk towards the door.
"Hey! Wait! You can't go out there right now!" The younger man yelled, concerned.
"Why not?" The possessed man growled.
"Because we need to limit our solar radiation exposure. We only go out if it's necessary!" The man explained.
"This is necessary." The possessed man growled. "It's very important."
"We checked everything we needed to check today." The young man pointed out.
"No, we missed something. I'll take care of it." The possessed man started to walk away.
"What? No we didn't." 'There's something wrong with him… being up here must be getting to him.' The man got up and started walking towards his older friend. He grabbed him by the wrist, only to have his friend turn around and shove him so hard he slid across the room. "What the hell!? Look, I can't let you go out there right now. Whatever you think you're gonna do, I'm afraid I can't-"
The possessed man's face suddenly acquired red face paint, similar to that of the monsters on Remnant. He raised his hand and lighting shot out of it, knocking his friend unconscious. He then walked over to the door, put on one of the space suits nearby, and went through the door into a smaller room. The door locked behind him, keeping the air in, and he was able to open the second door and step outside.
Back on Earth.
AJ and Blake opened the door and walked down the stairs. They turned right, went down the hall, and opened the door to find Ren, Nora, and Sun all in the elevator already.
"Oh! You guys are here! Good. We were just about to close the door on you." Sun said.
"Well I'm glad you didn't." AJ said as they joined their friends. "I might have tried to fit through as the door is closing, and then it might have crushed my tail. That would have sucked!"
They hit the button and the elevator began its descent. They stopped at one of the floors and Ren stepped out of the elevator. He walked over to the chair in the middle of the large circular room and sat down, turning the seat so he was facing the screen of the computer.
The others hit the button again and the elevator went down another level, to the room with the scanners.
"Alright. I'm sending you all into the forest. But, ladies first." Ren said into his headset's mic.
Blake and Nora stepped into two of the scanners first, and the doors closed once they entered.
"Transfer: Blake. Transfer: Nora." Ren called out as he typed in commands rapidly on the keyboard in front of him. "Scanner: Blake. Scanner: Nora. Virtualization."
A few moments later, Blake and Nora found themselves in their combat gear, and floating above a forest. Gravity took over almost immediately and they landed in a clearing in the forest.
"Once again, we're here on Remnant." Blake said, looking at their surroundings. "The place looks good, as usual. Still don't understand that broken moon though."
"I wouldn't be surprised if Nora had gone in alone and blown a hole in Remnant's moon." Ren commented.
"You know I have no idea how to do all that tech stuff, Ren!" Nora pointed out in her usual cheery tone.
"True." Ren agreed. "Sorry to keep you guys waiting. Transfer: AJ. Transfer: Sun. Scanner: AJ. Scanner: Sun. Virtualization."
AJ and Sun soon landed next to the girls in their own combat gear.
"About time." Sun commented as he looked around.
"So, where are we headed, Ren?" AJ asked.
"The activated Tower is southeast." Ren answered.
"Any monsters for me to blow up and smash!?" Nora asked.
"None yet, Nora." Ren answered with an amused smile.
They walked through the forest for awhile, till their hairs all stood on end as they heard wolves howling all around them.
"I see some monsters approaching on my screen." Ren said.
"Well, I hope wolves aren't a protected species in these forests." Sun joked as they all got their weapons ready.
They soon found themselves surrounded by about 13 Beowolves.
Nora was quick to start the attack, swinging her Warhammer into two Beowolves, sending them flying away and turning them into black digital particles that faded away. Sun parried a paw away from him, before quickly striking the attacker in the arm, then the neck, making it back off. AJ slashed the arm off a Beowolf, then he slashed it across the chest, then he stabbed it in the head, killing it. Blake threw her weapon at an enemy that was about to hit Nora from behind, stabbing it the back of the head and killing it. "Glyph!" AJ yelled while pointing towards Blake, causing a white glyph to appear and block a Beowolf that was about to hit Blake from the side while she had no weapon.
"Thanks." Blake said before turning to the enemy she had been saved from.
Sun ducked under a swipe from his first opponent, then blocked another swipe. He then wielded his staff like a baseball bat and whacked the Beowolf on the head, doing nothing. The Beowolf struck at him while he was open, knocking him down.
"Sun, you just lost 10 Aura Points." Ren said, looking at the numbers on this screen.
"No! Not my AP!" Sun yelled overdramatically before getting up. He swung his weapon the same way as before, but this time he fired a shot out of the end of his staff, actually doing damage to the bone armor and killing the Beowolf.
"Sun! That thing is not a baseball bat!" AJ pointed out while blocking a swipe aimed at his head.
"Sorry! Bad habit I developed when we first started this!" Sun explained before turning towards Nora. "Watch out!"
Nora blocked a swipe with the pole of her weapon, but the force made her slide back.
"Nora, you're down to 95 Aura Points."
"That's not so bad!" Nora said before building up lighting in her hammer and smashing the ground, creating a blast of lighting and taking out three Beowolves around her.
"Nora! Don't waste you Semblance! You just used up another 15 Aura Points! It won't be able to take the hit for your Life Points anymore." Ren warned.
"I'll be fine, Ren! Don't worry so much!" Nora requested, not understanding or just not caring about the danger of the situation.
"You are the only one that can turn off the Activated Towers. You can't be so reckless." Ren said, annoyed.
Nora whined in annoyance. "I wish I wasn't the one that had to deactivate the Towers! I want to do what I want!"
"Well, being the reckless girl you are, you stepped into the Scanners first when we first discovered them, and apparently the first one to go through gets the codes to deactivate the towers implanted into them. So really, you can only blame yourself for having to actually be careful." Ren explained with a chuckle.
"Yeah, you're right!" Nora agreed. "But! Nothing we can do about it now!"
"Nora! Help us out, will ya!?" AJ asked angrily as he blocked and dodged swipes from three Beowolves. Blake was also having trouble with the Alpha Beowolf of the pack.
"Right!" Nora said before running to his aid.
"I got you, Blake!" Sun said, running to her aid.
There was an explosion of pink that destroyed the Beowolf to the right of AJ as Nora rushed in. AJ parried an attack from the one on the left and slashed its throat, making it back off. The other one went to hit him but was smashed into the ground by Nora's hammer, black particles scattering everywhere. AJ walked up to the weakened one and stabbed it. At this point all that was left was the Alpha.
Black used her Semblance to dash to the right as the Alpha brought down its paw where she was standing. "95." Ren stated. She shadow dashed again to jump above its claw attack. "90." She flipped in the air, slashing the Beowolf's snout with her katana. She then shadow dashed behind it, slashing its shoulder on the way by. "85." She spun around just in time to block its attack as it spun around and hit her, knocking her down with the force of the attack. "80 Aura and 90 Life Points! Blake! Get back!" Ren yelled, worried.
The Alpha's massive claws knocked her into her air with its right hand, then clawed her back down with its left, turning her into white particles.
""Blake!"" Sun and AJ yelled in shock and anger respectively.
The doors to one of the Scanners opened to reveal Blake leaning on the wall in the Scanner for support.
"Ow… Heh, I can hear Sun and AJ now. 'Beowolf Alpha OP. G.R.I.M.M. please nerf.' " Blake said to herself before stepping out of the Scanner and walking over to the elevator.
Sun's weapon mecha-shifted into nunchuck mode and he began firing at the Alpha from the side. It raised its armored arm to block the bullets. Meanwhile AJ's sword glowed white as he rushed the Alpha and let out a powerful vertical slash across its chest, knocking it back a few feet.
"Whoa! What did you just do!?" Ren asked, noticing the amount of Life Points the Alpha just lost.
Nora jumped off of AJ's back, spun around, and used the momentum, plus a round from her weapon, to slam her hammer into the Alpha's chest as hard as she could, sending it flying away. It smashed through or knocked down a couple trees as it fizzled away.
"AJ, what did you just do!?" Ren asked, shocked. "You're Aura dropped by 5 and then that Alpha lost 45 of its 100 Life Points!"
"I think…" AJ took a moment to calm down and catch his breath. "I think I put some of my Aura into the attack."
"Wait, we can do that?" Sun asked. "I thought you could only put Aura into an attack if you had a Semblance like Nora's."
"I guess not." Ren said as he began rapidly typing on his keyboard. "You guys described Aura as being some sort of energy that you could feel inside you. I can't see anything I can do from here, but maybe you guys can practice controlling you Aura? AJ has shown there are uses for Aura beyond your unique abilities, A.K.A. your Semblances. Strengthening you attacks might be just the start!"
"I like that idea." Blake said as she stepped out of the elevator and walked over to stand next to Ren.
"Well, anyway, it looks like you're clear right now. I don't see anything on my monitor." Ren stated. "Keep moving towards the tower, and remember to be careful, Nora."
"I know! I know! We've been through this, like, eight times by now!" Nora pointed out as they started walking again.
"This'll be our eleventh time, actually." Ren corrected.
"Of course Einstein is keeping count." Sun commented.
They continued walking through the forest for awhile longer until they came to the end of the forest. In front of them was a small mountain, and at the top they could see a cylindrical tower with a red mist around it.
"We can see the Tower now." AJ said.
"Good. Deactivate it, and G.R.I.M.M. loses his connection to the real world, again. Now get going," Ren ordered. "before G.R.I.M.M. sends his monsters after you."
The three started running towards the base of the mountain, where there was a clear path that winded up the side of the mountain that they were facing till it reached the top. They began their ascent, and had made it a fourth of the way up.
"Shouldn't we be getting attacked by now?" Sun asked.
"Thanks for jinxing us." AJ deadpanned.
"It is kind of weird." Nora commented.
"Yeah, G.R.I.M.M. doesn't like it when we put an end to his plans. There's no way he would just send one Beowolf pack at the beginning and leave it at that." Ren added.
"I don't like that there hadn't been an attack on the real world yet." Blake added.
"You're right. We're all down here and we have no idea what G.R.I.M.M. is doing on the real world. But, I can guarantee that he's doing something right now." Ren said grimly. "You know what? Blake, head outside and check things out. You can't go back to Remnant for 12 hours anyway and I want to know what G.R.I.M.M. has planned."
"Got it." Blake nodded before heading to the elevator.
Ren watched Blake leave before looking back at his screen. Moments after he did, the screen bugged up and became heavily pixelated in random areas.
"What the hell!? My screen's bugged up!" Ren said, annoyed. He began hitting keys, trying to fix it, but couldn't get anything to work.
"What's up?" Sun asked as they continued their run along the mountain path.
"I just said! My screens-… Wait! This happened the first time we ever did this! Right before… It's back! The Omen is back!" Ren yelled into his mic.
"The Omen!? Aww not that thing again!" AJ whined.
"That thing kicked out asses last time we saw it!" Sun said.
"No need to worry, guys!" Nora said cheerily as she reached for her weapon without slowing down. "I won't miss this time…" Nora said in the angry tone that they very rarely hear from her.
They stopped in their tracks, half way to the top, as the Omen teleported in front of them and growled at them.
It was a pitch black Mountain Lion/Puma. It had bone armor on its shoulders and its face, bone spikes sticking out its back and the sides of its legs, and it had an eerie purple mist that came out of random parts of its body occasionally. The paint it had on its bone mask was purple instead of red. Its claws were quite long, and it had large teeth as well, but unlike other monsters on Remnant, this is actually the normal size of a mountain lion, and therefore the only thing smaller than them.
"Remember, it has 200 Life Points. Be very careful, and protect Nora! We can't let her get devirtualized!" Ren warned.
"Well, in that case." AJ said before focusing his Aura into his sword, making it glow. "Hya!" He swung hard at the Omen, but it leaned out of the way and clawed him to the side, leaving him hanging off the edge of the mountain.
"Just so you know, you still lose Aura Points if you miss." Ren noted.
"Great." AJ said sarcastically.
"Also, 80 and 60." Ren counted his Aura and Life points. 'That thing hits hard. It took out the other five Aura points needed to get to his Life Points, and then did 40 to those, all with one attack!'
Sun attacked the Omen with his staff, but the monster was able to parry or dodge all his attacks. Sun took a step back before firing a round from his weapon. The round chipped the armor off of its face and made it flinch. A purple mist appeared where it disappeared, and it reappeared behind Sun and clawed his back, knocking him down.
"That was 50 Life Points, Sun!" Ren warned. 'At least I can still see these numbers! But I can't do anything else when that Omen's in the area!'
Sun growled in annoyance before standing back up while Nora attacked. She brought the hammer right down on it, but it leaned out of the way and clawed at her legs. She blocked the attack with her weapon before bringing her hammer down again, making the Omen jump back.
"Clones!" Sun yelled before pressing his hands together, creating three glowing clones of himself which charged the Omen.
"Remember that you lose 20 Aura Points each time you use that, Sun." Ren pointed out.
The Omen jumped over the first and kicked it in the back of the head, destroying the clone. The second swung and the Omen jumped to the side before clawing its leg off. It teleported behind the third one to avoid its attack before jumping it and biting the clone's head. Being right on top of the clone, when it burst, the Omen felt it and was knocked off.
"Hey! You guys hurt it!" Ren noticed. "It just lost 20 Life Points!"
While it was stunned, Nora wasted no time and charged up lighting into her weapon, mecha-shifted it into a grenade launcher, and fired a round at the Omen, scoring a direct hit and knocking it away.
"Nice! Another 80!" Ren said.
The Omen growled angrily at them before opening its mouth, showing them a purple mist that built up in its mouth before firing out a small purple ball. The ball flew past Nora and Sun, and AJ climbed up just in time to be hit by it, and he faded away into white digital particles.
The doors of the Scanner opened to show AJ clutching his chest. "Ow. Damn it." He said simply before shrugging it off and stepping out. "Where's Blake?" He asked, since Ren had installed a system down there so they could hear him and he could hear them before they even went to, or when they stepped out of, the virtual world.
"She's on the surface right now, trying to find out what G.R.I.M.M. is doing." Ren answered.
AJ stepped into the elevator. "I'm gonna go find her."
"Guys! Don't let him hit you with that attack! It does 70 to your Life Points!" Ren warned.
"Nora! Just go deactivate the Tower!" Sun ordered. "I'll hold it off!"
"All by yourself!? But, you're like, the worst out of all of us!" Nora pointed out.
Sun's head sunk. "Thanks for being gentle about it…"
"You're welcome!" Nora said before leaving to continue up the path.
Back on the moon.
The younger man woke up slowly, and tried to remember what happened. 'Did he… shoot me with lighting? No… couldn't have… but I definitely remember that! Something's wrong with Carl!'
The man quickly ran to the door, donned a space suit, and stepped out. He slowly walked around in space for a short time, and soon found another person with him, walking away from him and towards a large vehicle.
"Carl!? Carl!"
The man stopped for a moment before looking back at him and growling, and he was able to see that Carl had strange red face paint on.
"What's wrong with you, man!?" The man asked.
Carl did not respond and simply continued walking to the vehicle. It was a large six wheeled vehicle with a mining laser on it.
The man slowly space walked over to his friend, who had now begun messing with the controls of the vehicle.
"Carl!? What are you doing!? Answer me or I will be forced to bring you back and tie you to your bed until the next shift comes along!" The man threatened.
Carl suddenly stood up in a flash and shoved his friend, sending him flying away in the low gravity. The man landed with a grunt, and slowly stood up.
"What are you doing with the space laser!?" The man asked.
Carl growled at him. "Stay out of my way…"
The man noticed the laser was turning away from the ground and towards Earth.
"Are you turning on the long-range function of the laser!?" The man asked, shocked. "Caaaaarrrrl! That kills people! Don't do that!" The man tried to stop his friend from doing whatever he was doing, but after being knocked so far away and being that he walked so slow in low gravity, the laser was fired before he could stop it.
Blake had looked around the school for any signs of G.R.I.M.M., but she couldn't find anything. Since that crazy program had figured out that it was them that were getting in it/his way, the attacks on the real world had lately been aimed at getting rid of them. So, when Blake couldn't find anything suspicious, she decided to simply stand in the large open field of grass between the abandoned building and the school, making herself a target, so she could at least know what the attack was.
The last thing she expected to have happen was a red laser suddenly appearing from the sky and blowing a hole in one of the buildings of the school.
"Whoa!" She exclaimed, watching as all the students started to run and panic.
"What's going on!?" AJ asked as he ran up next to her.
"A space laser just hit the school!" Blake answered, pointing at the smoke.
AJ looked up at the moon above them and saw another laser come down from the moon and hit another part of the school.
"It's coming from the base on the moon!" He realized.
Blake quickly called Ren with her Scroll. "Ren! G.R.I.M.M. is using some sort of laser from the moon base to attack the school!"
"Damn it!" Ren exclaimed. "That G.R.I.M.M. is one clever program. I can't do anything to slow him down unless he controls something on Earth!"
"Alright, kitty! You and me! OneVOne!" Sun said confidently, turning his staff into his dual nunchucks and suddenly getting a very serious face.
"What? What's this?" Ren asked himself, noticing some text appear next to Sun's picture. " 'Zen Moment?' What's that? Did he really use 15 Aura Points for this? What is it?"
The Omen jumped at Sun, who responded with one of his nunchucks. The Omen teleported back in front of Sun to avoid the hit, this time already in mid-air. Sun ducked under it and spun around in an instant. The Omen jumped at him again, and he deflected its claws while also firing a round from his weapon, hitting it in the leg. It teleported again, and Sun deflected the attack without even turning around. It lashed out in a flurry of claws and he was able to flawlessly block every attack, barely even blinking and maintaining a serious, almost blank look. He even snuck in a few shots into its chest, reducing it to 35 Life Points.
"I'm sorry Carl, but I have to do this!" The man said before using a nearby wrench to break Carl's visor. "Goodbye friend. I'm sorry that space sickness got to you…" Suddenly Carl moved and growled viciously at him before punching the man so hard he sent him all the way to the other side of the base. "What!?... How!? Is he even… That… isn't…Carl…" The man said before passing out.
The possessed man chuckled evilly as he fired more lasers at Earth.
"So…we can't stop that." AJ noted. "There's no point in staying up here! Let's get back to our base!" He said, grabbing her hand and starting to run back.
Another laser hit, this one much closer to them, so close it swept them off their feet. He saw another laser was coming so he quickly grabbed Blake and threw her out of the way. "No!" Blake yelled before he jumped just as the laser hit where he was standing, actually sending him over Blake's head. "AJ! Get up!" She yelled as she shook him, but he was unconscious and wasn't moving. "Oh no!" She saw another laser coming and picked him up quickly as she started to run.
The Omen growled at Sun before it turned away and started to teleport up the mountain.
"Hey!" Sun complained. "Ren! It's going after Nora!"
"Nora! The Omen is after you! Get to the tower now!" Ren warned.
"I'm going as fast as I can!" Nora defended as she ran. "I'm at the top! Finally!" She ran up to the tower when the Omen suddenly appeared in her path and jumped at her. She braced her weapon in front of her and let out a burst of electricity just as the Omen hit her weapon, knocking it down.
"It's only got 10 Life Points left!" Ren noted.
The Omen glared at her before teleporting away, and suddenly Ren's screen cleared up and he had access to everything again.
"Darn it! I wanted to destroy that thing!" Nora complained.
"Just get into the tower, Nora!" Ren ordered. "Blake and AJ aren't back, and that has me worried."
"Come on, Ren. You know what those two do when they're alone." Sun said with a grin.
"Sun, please, that's inappropriate." Ren deadpanned.
"I have been before and I will be again." Sun declared proudly.
"Besides, it sounds like a bombing is going on up there. That's what really has me worried." Ren added.
One of the lasers hit directly behind Blake, sending her flying and making AJ fly out of her arms. They both landed roughly, but she quickly got up and ran to pick him up again. Just as she reached his side she looked up at the moon and saw another laser coming down right on top of them. She laid over AJ, holding him tight and she braced, fearing they were about to die.
Nora stepped right through the wall of the tower and found herself surrounded by lines of code that she couldn't hope to understand. She walked up to the center of the floating platform she was on, and she found herself floating up to the next level. Her feet touched down on the platform and she walked up to the center where there was a floating holographic screen. The text CODE was seen on it. It wanted a code, and she placed her hand on the screen to enter it.
CODE: REMNANT
"Yeah! Tower deactivated!" Nora cheered.
The red mist around the tower turned blue, making Sun sigh in relief.
Blake looked up after a few moments and saw the laser floating in front of her face. She burst into tears of joy and hugged AJ, who was still unconscious. "They did it! They did it, AJ!"
Ren hit a few keys on his keyboard. "Return to the past, now!" He yelled.
A white light emerged from the room Ren was in and engulfed the world.
"Not that I mind or anything, but why are you clinging to me so much today?" AJ asked Blake as they walked out to lunch.
"I almost lost you… it was scary." Blake answered hesitantly.
He held her tighter in response. "It's okay. We're both alive now, and I won't ever let a G.R.I.M.M. attack tear us apart, ok?" He assured her.
"We've been through a few already, and I have a feeling we're going to go through many more before we figure out how to stop it from trying to take over the world." Blake commented.
"We'll get through this." He said softly.
"I got to say, we actually did pretty good against that Omen this time." Sun commented before noticing the couple approaching them. "Hey guys!"
"Glad to see the school doesn't have holes in it anymore." Blake commented as she looked around.
"Yep. You gotta love that 'return to the past'." Ren said with a smile.
"Though I kind of wish my memory was wiped like everyone else's this time." Blake mumbled.
"You still need to be careful, guys." Ren said. "That Omen is still very dangerous, and it took two or three of you to stand a chance. If that thing catches any of you alone, I'm not sure how you'll be able to win."
"Well, last time it kicked our asses, this time we fared well enough." AJ noted. "If we just keep improving, soon we'll be able to fight an Omen by ourselves and stand a chance."
"Well apparently activating a buff helps you when fighting one alone." Ren commented, looking at Sun.
"What did I do?" Sun asked, confused.
"You used up some of your Aura and you got really focused. "Ren answered. "It said you had a perk called 'Zen Moment' that lasted for about 15 seconds."
"Really? That fight I had was only 15 seconds?" Sun asked, surprised. "It felt like much longer. Now that you mention it though, I did feel really focused and everything that wasn't a part of the fight sort of just blurred into the background."
"You didn't use your Aura to focus on purpose?" Ren asked.
"Nope." Sun answered.
"Huh. Weird." AJ commented.
"We can figure it out later." Ren decided.
"Yeah! You're so smart, Renny! You have all the time in the world to figure it out!" Nora said assuredly.
"Yeah, you might be right." Ren agreed hesitantly. "Well, we should have at least a few days before GRIMM attacks again.
"Great." Sun said before turning to AJ. "And in that time, we are going to play some games, and we are gonna kill shit… And probably kill each other as well."
AJ chuckled. "Fine by me."
So yeah, I made a RWBYxCode Lyoko crossover. I made it go more or less like a normal Code Lyoke episode, while putting the story on Remnant, with Grimm, and choosing characters that sort of replace their Code Lyoko counterpart. (Except AJ and Blake replace Yumi and Ulrich and they aren't freaking in denial that they're in love) I kept some things the same while changing some other things, and it was actually pretty fun.
I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure there isn't a fic that is officially written as a RWBYxCode Lyoko crossover. I could make this into a separate fic and it could be the first of its kind!
This must have been interesting to read for anyone that hasn't heard of Code Lyoko. XD If you didn't know, it's an old (in my opinion) anime that basically was my childhood as far as I'm concerned. It had normal 2D animation in the real world, and 3D animation when they went into the virtual world, which is different.
I wouldn't mind feedback and opinions on this.
Anyway, have a great day everyone!
