Remus Lupin POV

Walking in his usual shabby cloak over his brown suit jacket and brown matching trousers, people would think that his favorite color was brown though he wore a modest green tie. Remus gave a nervous glance as he walked down the street to an Orphanage, meeting with a young girl. His mind drifted for a moment as he stopped a block away, closing his eyes to remember the night before.

"I know Remus, but she is they're daughter. Not only that but his niece..."

"Why tell me this now?! And why me Albus? You know of my condition."

" I understand my boy, but still I feel like when you are with her, you may gain some comfort...She's a beautiful little girl with a good heart…Like her mother and father. I have a very good feeling that you two will become fast friends indeed."

Remus shook his head as the image of Albus Dumbledore's eyes bore into his, as if the elderly wizard knew what was going to happen in a strange ominous way. Remus gave a soft cough before continuing to walk up to the Orphanage door. It was a shabby little place but was in good maintenance it appeared. He glanced at himself in the window to take note of his appearance and grimaced. His usual pale appearance was even worse as he tried to calm his nerves, moving his hand to move away a few strands of his brown hair away to one side. He stood tall and rang the doorbell as it gave along ring. As he waited for someone to come to the door he heard a sound of laughter from the corner, taking a small glance and saw a little gate.

Taking a few strides to the side, still being able to greet the person who will open the door while being able to see the courtyard a bit, he gave himself a small smile to see the innocence of young children playing around of various ages. His eyes were about to turn away until he saw some sunlight against one particular young girl's lovely locks. She had other children around her under a cherry blossom tree, giggling as one of the older boys around her told her a funny joke. She had a very different are around her compared to the other children as she gave a familiar smile.

"Hullo?"

Remus turned back at the door to see a sister there with tiny little glasses against the bridge of her nose.

"Ah yes, My name is Remus Lupin. I was called here to pick up a miss Serenity Aragon."

He handed the nun a note from Dumbledore as she gave a quick inspection of it. She glanced back at Remus and nodded her head, waving her hand behind her for a younger sister to come to her.

"Please get Serenity from the courtyard. Her escort has arrived."

The young nun scurried away, slightly blushing to see Remus as he heard her yell out at the courtyard,

"Serenity! I believe your guest has arrived!"

"Coming Sister Anna!"

As he waited he glanced back at the window to see a few faded scars against his pale cheek and moved his head down,

She's going to be a bit frightened of me...

Remus glanced up at the nun, catching her staring at his face. She bowed her head in apology but he shook his head as if it were fine.

"So you work for this school Serenity will be attending?"

"Not exactly…The headmaster called upon me believing I will be an appropriate escort for Miss Aragon."

"Ahhh….Then why-"

"Serenity!"

Remus glanced over the nun's shoulder to see the young girl from the courtyard running up to the front door. She stopped quickly behind the sister before peeking her head out to look up at him. He gave a relaxed smile, not knowing what her reaction might be.

In surprise the young girl came out from behind the nun and walked up to Remus, staring up at him and tilting her head. Remus gave a soft chuckle before getting on one knee to get at her eye level and says to her,

"Hullo, my name is Remus Lupin. Your guild today." Waiting for her to stare at his scars but instead she looked at him straight in the eyes and smiled. She was a little shy it appeared but instead she smiled back and said,

"Hello , my name is Serenity Alice Aragon. It's a pleasure to meet you sir." She gave a small curtsy and looked back at Remus with stunning green eyes.

She is very much like you two…

Remus bowed his head before getting back up and nodded his head at the Nun to indicate they were leaving. The young girl named Serenity waved her hand at the Sister to say goodbye as she walked next to Remus as they left the Orphanage. He was slightly worried because she was so small that he would lose her from the busy streets as he extended his hand to offer it to her, giving her a choice to hold it or not. He was surprised yet again as she automatically held his hand as if they've known each other for years. She didn't realize he was staring and looked at him to give another dazzling smile.

" So, are you excited for Hogwart Ms. Aragon?" Remus asked, trying to lighten the mood as she giggled at first.

"Is it ok to call me Serenity? Whenever the nuns were mad at me they would call me ." Remus gave out a little laugh as he smiled down at the girl. He remembered the times when the Professors at Hogwarts would yell out his, James, and Sirius' last names in frustration.

" Ah I'm sorry about that, but I understand the feeling. I promise to call you Serenity from now on then."

They continued to walk and talk with ease, slowly learning a bit more about this young girl. As they walked he was starting to get a better understanding about her. She was eleven but would turn twelve before Hogwarts starts. As usual she should have been in last years group but she was placed back probably because of Albus' choosing. She was a very beautiful little girl with light brown hair and very fair complexion. She seem to have a very kind personality talking about those in the Orphanage as well as understanding. She didn't seem to discriminate people and looked for the good in everyone as she spoke about people she knew. Remus then saw the Leaky Cauldron, opening the door for her and instructing her to walk all the way to the back. He saw the confused look on her face when they both stood infant of the brick wall. Remus chuckles as he smiled at her,

"Now, on the correct brick of this wall just tap three up and two across." He tapped three up and two across just as he said and looked back at her, seeing her eyes widen as the moved.

"Now welcome to Diagon Alley"

Serenity's POV

Serenity couldn't believe her eyes as she saw the brick walls move away to see a busy street full of people in strange clothing and carrying strange items. She didn't feel like she was in London anymore as she softly took Remus' comforting hand again to walk down the street. Her head moved back and forth to look at shops that sold broomsticks, robes, sweets, and magic galore. As they walked down they stopped by one of the few book stores to pick up her books and then a quill store to pick up some quills and ink. As Serenity picked the items out, Remus paid for them at the cashier desk. Before they came he mentioned how everything she would buy would be covered because of her late parents. She didn't ask more because one she didn't know who her parents were but mostly she didn't want to hear the answer either. All she knew that the Nuns met her parents and how her parents told them that they will be dying soon. Serenity didn't want to cry as she quickly kept her sadness inside and said thank you to Remus.

As they shopped around they were finishing up, the last few things on her list were getting some school clothes, robes, and a wand.

"Now take this with you to pay for your clothes. I'll wait out here for you alright?"

"Are you not coming in with me?"

"No, it seems extremely crowded and it's usually pretty quick as well."

Serenity gave him a smile as she walked in by herself, holding the small pouch where Remus placed the money in. As soon as she enters a woman scurried Serenity to the side to instruct her to step on a stool to get measured. As Serenity stood a magical tape measure moved around her to take each measurement, while she heard a voice say to her,

"Hi there!"

I turn my head slightly to see a boy with red hair and gave a small little smile.

" Hello"

"Are you going to Hogwarts as a first year too?"

"Um...yeah." I look down shyly.

"Me too! My name is Ron, Ron Weasley...Um..." He tried to extend his hand out towards her but seeing as both of them were being measured it was a little difficult. They both looked at each other and laughed as they talked a bit of how excited they were. He finished first as his mother called for him and payed for his second-hand robes. Before they left he turned and waved at her,

"See ya on the train Serenity!"

Once Serenity was done the lady picked out a few things for her here and they and Serenity looked and made sure everything was reasonably priced. She had heard a few of the other girls and boys with their mothers requesting for ridiculous amounts of money for clothes. Serenity was content with what she had and needed and gave the proper amount to the lady. She curtsied at the kind sale's woman before leaving the shop to walk out to find Remus talking to a tall man.

The man had a hook nose and very shiny hair, with the most pale skin she has even seen a man have, paler that Remus she would say. As she got a bit closer she noticed the man's black hair hanging down to his shoulders wasn't greasy as she initially thought but just very shiny. Remus glanced to see Serenity coming towards them and waved the man away before walking to her.

"Ah, so you've finished. Sorry about that I was talking to a...colleague of mine."

"Oh no it's fine, I hope I wasn't interrupting anything."

"No, it wasn't anything important, just chatting. Now lets go get you a wand little lady."

Serenity took Remus' outstretched hand as he walked them to the opposite direction from the stranger. She turned back around for a moment to see the strange dark cloaked man looking back at her with dark eyes like endless tunnels. He almost looks away but stops and looked back at her, taking a step towards them but before he could even really make a step the crowd around them blocked her view and they were completely mixed in the sea of bodies. They continued to walk as Serenity asked about things here and there with Remus answering everything in the best of his abilities, usually with a funny story when he was a student.

They finally stopped in front of Ollivander's Wands Shop, where Remus motioned her to ender inside.

"I need to go get something but rest assure you I'll be back when you're done little one."

He gave me a smile as she gave one back in return. He then turns to walk into a potion shop full of ingredients and herbs while she stares for a moment. Though he wasn't the most handsome man on earth with his scar, he was still an extremely sweet and kind man to be her guide.

Serenity finally turns away to enter inside to see an old man behind the counter who had a few boxes in his hands. He was looking around until he heard the door chime in.

"Ahhh...I've been expecting you for some time " She tilted her head in confusion as she walked a bit closer. She saw him give a strange grin as he opened up one of the boxes he was hold and hands her a nice dark wood wand with a smooth finish to it.

"...Now give it a wave!" She waved it in the air but nothing happened.

This actually ended up happening to four wands as things either exploded or nothing happened at all. He gave her a long stare before he went to the very back of his shop, disappearing from her sight. He came back out with dust on his clothes as he handed her a new wand. It felt nice in her hand with a beautiful dark red toned wand with a white handle with carvings on it. She gave a very light flick at a piece of paper, hoping to not burn it, but instead it turned and folded itself to become a butterfly and started to flutter in the air. Serenity gave out a soft awe before looking back at him to see him give a furrowed brow.

"Ah...It seems it has chosen you. Strange that though I know this is a stubborn wand, it's quite gentle to you."

She handed the wand back to him as he took a good look at it, " Ah lets see, this one is quite intricate...A 12 inch silver lime wood center with rosewood around it with an ivory handle with carvings. Three cores of dragon heartstring, unicorn hair, and...thestral tail hair..."

He had a strange look in his eyes as he handed the wand and took the payment. But before Serenity left he asked,

"If you don't mind child…Have you ever seen death before?"

"Isn't that a bit personal sir?…But no I have not…Just in some strange dreams, why?"

"…Curious…Well, I'll be expecting a lot from you Ms. Aragon, as well as Mr. Potter."

Serenity look back at the shop owner in confusion before opening the door to leave, waving the man goodbye. She walked to see Remus snoozing on a stool near by waiting for her. At first she was going to wake him up, but something caught her eye in a little trinket store next to them. She quickly looked back at Remus and waved her hand to see he was really asleep before going inside the store to buy something. She then came back out with the gift hidden in her pocket before gently nudging his arm to wake Remus up.

"Remus?"

"Oh! What?...Oh I'm sorry little one I must have fallen asleep. Now anything else you would need?"

Before Serenity could even say anything they heard a sudden loud yell. They both turn to see a little pup run towards them with a heavy set man chasing behind. The little grey thing jumped into her arms, trying to hid it's face tucked in the crook under her arm. Serenity gently pet it as it peaked it's head up to look at her. She tilted her head and the little pup did the same, staring before giving a big lick on her cheek. Serenity giggled as Remus stared and took a glance at the shop owner come towards them.

"Well Serenity…Seems like you have a new pet as well."

"Aye, it's one of our newest ones. They've been going rare but it seems like this one has lost it's mum at a young age and was sent here to be sold...Seems like it's found its match instead."

"May I inquire what kind of dog it is?" Remus asked the owner.

"Naw sir, that there is no dog. It's a wolf and a fine one at that."

Serenity saw Remus tensed at the word wolf but tried not to think about it too much. Instead she walked up to the owner and held the pup out for the owner to take. The pup whimpered while even Serenity had some sad eyes to give it back. The owner took a long look at her and raised his hand.

"No, you can keep the lil tyke…He now sees you as his master and won't follow anyone else, here."

The owner gave Serenity a brown collar and leash to her. She smiled with glee as she and the pup happily looked at each other. She placed the collar on while Remus handed the owner some money as payment and a bit of a thank you gesture as well. The pup stared back at her before rubbing it's head against her leg.

"Glad to find an owner so fast…Direwolves can be such stubborn creatures but loyalty to the death…Well I guess that's all you need, and if you're wonderin' it's a boy." The shopkeeper said with a grin before turning to go back to his shop with a hearty laugh.

"So, what are you naming him?"

"...Valiant"

He looked at Serenity peculiarly and asked, " Why?"

"Hmm…Because, though he doesn't have a family he went out to search for his own...And he found me."

Serenity gave Remus a cheeky little grin as Valiant gave a bark of approval. They then continued to walk down the street, looking at each shops and Remus explaining to her more about the magical community. Though she had difficulty understanding a few terms, she mostly kept up. As they walked, with her hand in Remus' she couldn't help but feel a bit happy. For this moment she felt like she was walking with her father or uncle shopping as if it were a normal day.

As they left the magical shopping district and back to the, what Remus calls the "muggle" world, she noticed a small change in him. He seemed almost sad as each step they got closer to the orphanage, the heavier the silence became. They finally reached the gate of the old building as he went down to eye level while placed the bags beside her. Valiant sat on the ground to watch while Serenity looked at Remus as if seeing a mirror of her own sad expression.

"Well little one, I believe it is time for me to go, it's almost..." He patted himself to look for a watch.

"Well I guess I left my watch at home." He laughs to himself softly.

"Oh! I have gift for you, I almost forgot!" Serenity exclaimed as she patted her pocket to take out a small little box with a simple red ribbon around it. She placed it in Remus' hand as she gave a little smile.

"Bye Uncle Lupin, and thank you for such a wonderful day." Serenity gave Remus a hug before letting go to pick up her own shopping bags, rushing back to the Orphanage with Valiant next to her. When the nuns and children all tried to see what she had but luckily Remus already placed a charm over her items to make muggles believe they were ordinary items. The nuns did have a problem about Valiant but luckily no one had any allergies to dogs. They told her that she needed to care and clean him everyday in order for her to have hi in the house, which she agreed with glee.

That same night after a wonderful supper with the other kids, she finally unpacked a few of her items and started to place them into a truck for her to bring to school. Valiant jumped onto her bed and curled up to snooze, exhausted from meeting so many new people and living in a new space. Serenity quickly changed to her pajamas and went under the blankets. Valiant moved slightly to snuggle closer against her side as she reached out to turn the lights off. The strange thing was that she wasn't able to really sleep as she starred at the window by her bed, thinking about what will happen in her life, and wondering who her parents were, and so many unanswered questions before she finally drifted asleep.

Remus Lupin POV

Remus finally arrived home in a little hut in the middle of a forest in the outskirts of London in the countryside. No muggle would be able to find him while he was hidden from those who may fear him during his transformations. He took out his wand and with a flick lit a few candles around his shabby living room. He opened up his pocket to take out some ingredients to make some more potions to make sure he can still think like a human while he was a werewolf.

As he emptied his pockets something else fell out too. It was the little box he got from Serenity in it's little wrapping. He slowly picked it up and untied it, letting the ribbon fall onto the table top. He opened up the top to find a lovely pocket watch with a very smooth matte finish on the bronze surface. He opened it up to see it was simple in design but what really got to him was the engraving on the metal side which said Thank you on it.

"No…Thank you Serenity…"

Remus then took out his wand again to give a light twirl and tapped as a charmed picture floated and landed on the table. He picked it to see the photo of him, Sirius, James, Lily, and two other strangers in the image all smiling. It was just charmed photo so you could see them all move and laugh. He then used his wand to make a copy of the image but smaller as he placed his wand down and went to pick up some scissors to cut around it to allow it to fit perfectly in the frame. So one side had the clock and the other with the photo. He closed it up before closing his eyes.

"…She really is your daughter…"
