A/N: Coooool. Okay, I dunno why I just wrote that but I guess I think it's cool that I managed to update this story before the fortnight after the last update.
KJ: Thanks. Yep, there will be a lot of Trent in the coming chapters, especially the Trent-centric episodes.
hewhoreaps: Yeah, KRENT 4EVER! Sadly, Trent will be facing a lot of issues in the next few chapters. Thanks for pointing out the blender mistake. However, the other sentence was correct. I was referring to how Conner whines a lot in general as well as Ethan whereas Trent doesn't really complain much at all. He's a sweetie XD
Opalbrat: Ty :)
brankel1: Oh so your username is a ship name too, like FabulousMarony.
Cocopop55: Ikr, Conner and Kira are like siblings. Whereas, Kira and Trent are just perfect for each other. One thing I don't get is why way more ppl ship Tori and Blake than KRENT. I mean, they're practically the same. Evil guy, tricks/uses the girl, leaves and then comes back. But no, hardly anyone ships Tori with the leader but loads of ppl ship Kira with Red. Weird right?
It was an ordinary weekend morning at Hayley's cyberspace. Ethan was screaming at the top of his lungs whilst his friends tried to get some work done.
"Oh no, you didn't! Eat laser you intergalactic freak!" the blue ranger yelled, his eyes getting bigger and bigger with each passing second. "Yeah! YEAH!" Conner and Kira exchanged a shake of the head before the former spoke up.
"Dude, do you mind?" he asked.
"I'm on level twelve!" Ethan cheered, completely ignoring his teammate. Not for long. Conner reached over from his table to Ethan's and switched the laptop off. "What are you doing?"
"I can't concentrate with you blowing things up in my ear!" the red ranger complained.
"But it took me three hours to get to that level," Ethan stated sadly.
"Sorry but I'm with Conner on this. We've got a paper due tomorrow. And why aren't you working on yours?" Kira inquired.
"Finished it last week. Trent and I jammed on them while you guys were up being David Beckham and uh-"
"Oh, don't even say it," Kira warned dangerously, with a glare.
"What? I wasn't going to," Ethan stuttered, turning back to his laptop.
"Where's Trent anyway?" the purple ranger questioned. "I thought he was working today."
"Shouldn't you know?" the cheeky blue ranger teased, not taking his eyes off the screen. If looks could kill, Ethan would've been stabbed in the back. Literally.
"Yeah, I mean don't you two spend ages talking on the phone?" Conner added. Kira narrowed her eyes at him, making him gulp. "What? I heard your mum complaining about your cell phone bills to your dad. Anyway, since you desperately want to know, Hayley gave him the day off... I think he's spending some quality time with his dad."
"I know it wasn't in my mind. It was right around here," Trent spoke to himself, standing in front of the spot where he found the invisiportal last time, in his father's office. He sighed as he remembered what happened the day before.
"Trent? Trent!" Anton called from the doorway, snapping his son out of his reverie. "Can I help you with something?"
"There's some weird stuff going on here dad," Trent started, shaking his head as his dad walked up to him. "I swear I went through some interdimensional doorway." Anton didn't seem fazed by this.
"You know I've gotta say, I'm worried about you, son. Working till all hours at this coffee house, obviously, you're not thinking straight. I'm gonna make an appoint with my doctor," the older man said, walking past his son to get to his desk.
"I don't need a doctor!" Trent protested, spinning around to face Anton. "I need an explanation! I think you owe that to me!"
"Perhaps you could explain something to me," Anton countered, turning to perch on the edge of his desk. "When did it become acceptable to speak that way to your father?"
"All these projects you're involved in, there's something weird going on here dad!" the teen exclaimed, ignoring his dad.
"Whatever goes on in here, I can assure you, is for the betterment of mankind. And I promise you will feel the same way," Anton reassured his son. "In time."
"In time? When?" Trent demanded, now facing Anton.
"When you're ready," the palaeontologist replied as if it would solve everything. He got up and approached the teen, who had turned away from him again. "Someday, all I have will go to you. It's a great responsibility son; one that we must prepare you for. We'll begin that process soon." He clapped his son on the shoulder, making the younger guy jump. "Now, why don't you go for a swim? We have the nicest pool in town and you never use it."
As Anton strolled off, Trent was left to his thoughts once again. There was definitely something up. But why was it such a secret?
"Alright, there's only so much you can learn in a classroom. Who's ready for some field work?" Michael asked his class enthusiastically.
"Doctor McKnight, may we have the permission to film today's dig for journalism class? It's just that I think it would be good for my career to start focusing on something more exciting things like nature and science." Michael stared in amusement as Devin came up to him too.
"Cass, I thought you said this stuff was as dull as dirt?" he told her with a smirk. Cassidy looked like a deer caught in headlights.
"Actually Devin, I think I was talking about our last conversation," she retorted, rolling her eyes and crossing her arms.
"Relax Cassidy, you can film the dig," Michael said. Cassidy jumped in joy before following her friend out of the classroom.
The black ranger almost had a heart attack when he saw Principal Randall standing in the doorway, looking ready to go hiking.
"Doctor McKnight."
"Principal Randall?" Michael responded, eyeing her in something between shock and hilarity. "Are you in a play?"
"No," she started, swinging her spade over her shoulder dangerously. "I'm here to join you on a field trip."
"So am I," a voice chirped. Randall turned to see a familiar face, occupying her previous spot.
"Ki- I mean, Miss Hart, so glad you could make it," Michael said, walking over to his sister like friend.
"Same here. Principal Randall? I didn't know you were interested in dinosaur bones," Kim stated.
"You'd be surprised at what interests me," Randall replied to the other woman, although her eyes were fixed on the man in front of her. Michael's face went red at the obvious (fail) flirtation.
"Yeah, I probably would," he managed to croak out.
"Anyway, don't you have a lesson to teach?" Randall asked Kim, clearly jealous of her presence.
'Oh, it's not me you have to worry about Randall, just go meet Hayley,' Kim thought to herself.
The yellow ranger had recently become a Gym teacher but only taught a few freshman classes and covered for some other teachers. She spent more time at the school Gymnastics club, which she was in charge of. It was convenient to be in the same building as the rangers, in case there was an attack and they had to team up as soon as possible. Plus, she had a job she enjoyed.
"No, I don't," she finally replied. "I've got a free period and I figured I would volunteer to help Doctor McKnight here."
Randall had nothing else to say and instead settled for, "Well, are we going?"
"Yeah, the bus is right outside," Dr McKnight answered.
"You can dazzle me with fascinating fossil facts on the way," she said, walking out like a boss and purposely hit Kim on the shoulders and she passed her. However, Kim couldn't care less and burst into a fit of giggles.
"Oh be quiet," Michael chided, running away from her, all embarrassed.
"How's it going, guys?" Kim greeted her fellow rangers, as they dug out random holes in the ground.
"Kim!" the three gushed in unison.
"When did you get here?" Kira questioned.
"Did you come in your own car?" Ethan asked.
"How are you even allowed here?" Conner queried. Everyone gave him a look that said, 'Dude, seriously?'
"I got here the same time as you, on the same bus as you but I was all the way at the front and Conner, I'm a teacher with a free period, so of course I'm allowed here."
"You're a teacher?" Conner enquired in shock.
"Dude, she's a gym teacher. Didn't you know?" Ethan asked, despite knowing the answer.
"Of course I knew... I was just kidding, puh-lease I knew before all of you," the red ranger bluffed arrogantly. His friends laughed at him. "Where were you all this time then?"
"With your father... and your new mammy!" Kim exclaimed. The three teens were taken aback by that statement and immediately scanned the area for their teacher. When they located him, Ethan and Kira instantly started giggling at the sight: Principal Randall helped Michael out of a ditch and then proceeded to wipe off the non-existent sweat on his forehead. Conner was shell-shocked.
"Wait till Eric hears about this..." he muttered.
"Oh yeah, when's your bro gonna come back to Reefside?" Ethan questioned.
"Eric reckons he should move on to Pai Zhuq now but Dad said he's coming back home soon, no matter what. I bet he'll flunk out of school as soon as he gets here since he's such an airhead. We are sooooo different, it's unbelievable," Conner stated, laughing. It died down straight away after he gained pointed looks from his teammates. He coughed and the teen got back to work as Kim helped.
After a few minutes, Ethan yelled, "Guys over here!" Kim, Kira and Conner ran to him. "Kim, I think I found something."
"Great, what is it?" Conner asked, as they all crouched down to Ethan's level. Kim gasped at the sight of a green egg in Ethan's hands.
"It's a Dino egg!" she said. Kira got up in an instant and went to search for Dr McKnight. Luckily she found him straight away and brought him back to the other rangers.
"What is it?" Michael queried.
"Kim thinks it might be a dinozord egg," Ethan answered. He carefully handed it over to his teacher.
"Ooooh," came an all too familiar voice. The group spun around to see Principal Randall. "A discovery! How exciting!"
"Oh no, uh, we're not sure what it is," Michael lied.
"It looks like a prehistoric egg," she stated. "May I?" The dark haired woman held out her hand expectantly.
"Well uh," Michael stammered, glancing at Kim and Ethan.
"Oh don't worry," Randall cooed. "I won't drop it!" The black ranger reluctantly handed the egg over to the principal.
"I should really take that back to the school lab and examine it," he said anxiously, as he watched Randall inspect the egg.
"But of course," Randall replied, a bit too quickly. "Here." Just as she held it out to Dr McKnight, tyrannodrones swarmed the area without warning.
Conner, Ethan and Kira began to fight the villainous creatures. Kim hesitated a bit, wondering if she should help or not, given the situation. Eventually, she joined in too. Michael pulled Randall away, hoping to take her somewhere safe. Unfortunately, tyrannodrones surrounded the pair of them and he was forced to fight, tossing the principal around like a toy when necessary.
The egg flew out Randall's grasp when tyrannodrones squashed her between them. Both she and Dr McKnight leaped to grab the egg but ended up falling into a heap together. Randall lingered over Michael longer than required and sprinted off to get the egg. Michael tried to follow her but got held up by more tyrannodrones.
"DOCTOR MCKNIGHT!" Michael turned around to see Randall throw him the Dino egg. This time, he caught it successfully.
"You okay?" he asked her, as she approached him.
"I think so," she responded.
"I have to take this back to the school," Michael told her but she wasn't listening.
"Would you mind explaining where you learnt to fight like that?!" she demanded rather than asked Conner, Kira and Ethan as they were about to walk past her. They halted in the tracks and stared at the ground.
"Uhh, karate club," Conner lied before making a beeline for the bus with his two friends in tow.
"Do we even have one of those?" Randall questioned Michael, slapping her arm on his shoulder. He wished he ran when the kids did.
"Yep, I run it," Kim interjected before she and Michael ran to the bus for dear life. Randall stared at them before following.
Kim, Michael and Hayley were at the McKnight house, in the lair, where they were examining the egg they recently acquired.
"Why did Elsa lead us to a false egg, Mike? It doesn't make sense. It's not like it was a distraction because there was only one attack, at the dig..." Kim commented.
"Mike, did you notice anything unusual at the dig?" Hayley queried.
The yellow ranger beat him to it, "Honestly, I don't think he was paying attention to anything." She chuckled, Michael glared and Hayley was confused.
"Why's that?" the redhead inquired.
"Oh, nothing. Mike here was just spending all his time flirting with good old Principal Randall!" Kim sang.
"Kim," Michael warned. "I didn't flirt with her. And she didn't flirt with me. She was just being nice."
"Principal Randall?" Hayley questioned. "I didn't know the Principal was a woman..." Kim looked over at the redhead and resisted the urge to say 'YES!' - Hayley Ziktor was officially jealous. However, before anyone could say anything else, there was an alert indicating an attack on the city.
"It's the dimetrozord!" Michael stated. "That's why we got a fake egg. The tyrannodrones must have stolen the real one and planted a fake one there in its place, so Principal Randall picked up the wrong one."
"Yeah..." Kim agreed. "Let's morph and call the others. Ready?" She stood ready to morph and Michael came to his position at her side.
"Ready!"
"Dino Thunder, power up ha!"
As the pair exited the lair, Hayley came to a realisation...
Zeltrax had singled Michael out as usual and threw him violently to the ground.
"If you know what's good for you, you'll stay away from her!" Zeltrax roared.
"Who?" Michael asked in confusion.
"I have been dreaming of this." Zeltrax ignored Michael's question and raised his weapon, ready to strike. Michael barely rolled out of harm's way, when his enemy blasted laser beams at him.
Soon, Zeltrax was pummelled to the ground. Before he could get up, an invisiportal appeared and took him out of battle.
"Power down!" Michael yelled, returning to civilian form. He stared at where the villain just was a moment ago. "What's his problem?"
Meanwhile, the rangers watched in horror as the dimetrozord made quick work of their zords.
"Pterano!" Kira shrieked, as her zord was taken down.
"C'mon Tyranno!" Conner yelled, but to no avail. Then a 30 storey monster appeared and Kira groaned.
"Not this again!" she complained as her teammates formed the Thundersaurus Megazord. "When will I get my own?"
"Kira," Michael spoke through his morpher. "I need your help."
"We need something to break through his armour," Kira observed, pacing around, speaking through her morpher. She was watching the battle and it wasn't exactly going well for the rangers. "Like a blade or a saw..."
"That's it, Kira!" Michael exclaimed. The black ranger looked at his son on the computer screen. "You have to use the dimetrozord."
"What?" Conner yelled in disbelief.
"The dinozord you were just fighting!"
"I know what it is!" the red ranger snapped. "But Dad, if you haven't noticed, our zords don't exactly get along with it!"
"You don't. But Kira does," his father retorted. Kira, who was listening to this, had no idea what the McKnights were talking about.
"What? Oh no, I am not going to go and make friends with that thing!" she protested.
"Kira, you might be able to connect with it and make it come to our side."
"Can I make a megazord with it?" Kira asked hopefully.
"Unfortunately no, it's just a small auxiliary zord. You'd need maybe one or two more zords as well as the Pteranozord to form a megazord," Michael replied, grimacing at how he had to crush Kira's hopes like that.
"Oh," the purple ranger said in dismay.
"Look, Kira, I'm not singling you out here. I can probably connect with it too but I'm giving you a chance to do the honours. I know you sometimes think you're not part of the team because you don't have a megazord. But you are," Michael explained. "Go on.
In the distance, they could hear Elsa screaming, "You are under my control!" to the dimetrozord and blasting it with something. It attacked the megazord and knocked them over.
"Okay, I'll do it," Kira finally gave in.
"Good. Now, you have to concentrate. Tap into your morpher," Michael instructed as Kira directly faced the dimetrozord. "Remember how you connected to your pteranozord? Do exactly the same thing this time, but with the dimetrozord."
"Now finish them!" Elsa ordered. Her monster stepped on the Thundersaurus megazord.
"Come on, concentrate!" Michael urged, watching Kira on one screen and the other rangers on another.
"Got it!" he heard Kira shout. The dimetrozord was under her control now. It slashed the monster and pummelled it to the ground.
Soon enough, the dimetrozord connected with the Thundersaurus Megazord and the rangers successfully saved the day, once again. More importantly, Kira felt like a proper part of the team and didn't feel like such a bystander anymore although she was still hoping that one day, she'd get a Megazord too.
Kim and Hayley were at the cyberspace hanging out and spying on a certain Dr McKnight. Ethan had bought some spy cameras from somewhere and gave one to the yellow ranger. She had hooked it up so she could see what happened with Michael and Randall next.
After seeing the ridiculous report from Cassidy and Devin, Kim thought the day couldn't get any funnier. Apparently not.
"Tie up your shoelaces Clarke!" Randall barked, as she walked in between the students and down the stairs.
"Principal Randall!" Michael came running up behind her. "You okay?"
"Yes I'm fine," she replied curtly, sounding a bit rude and angry. She stopped descending the stairs and so did he.
"You were pretty tough out there. Guess I didn't have to worry about you too much," he told her.
"You were worried... about me?" Randall asked in shock.
"Of course," Michael responded. Hayley and Kim snickered at Randall's love struck smile. "You okay?" he questioned once again, upon seeing her state of daydream.
"That's the bell, Doctor McKnight. Your next class isn't going to teach itself? Is it?" Randall said, before leaving. Michael started after her in confusion. Women.
"Yeah..." he said. "I mean... no!"
"Man, that woman's cold-blooded," came Ethan's voice. He, Kira and Conner were loitering around the corridors and had stopped to eavesdrop on the conversation with Randall.
"Ugh, dad I know you have a thing for dinosaurs. But Randall?" Conner groaned.
"Don't even start with me, son," Michael warned.
"I think it's a perfect match," Kira quipped.
"Haha, Kira's right!" Kim commented, having watched it all.
However, Hayley had a strange feeling. She didn't know what it was, but she couldn't ignore it. She'd have to talk to Kim or even Michael himself about it soon.
A/N: Hmmm, I wonder what Hayley just realised ey? REVIEW! *cough cough* And uhm, I never see you reviewing anymore FabulousMarony, I'm writing this for you girl, so get to it!
