(*Updated Chapter)

Slowly opening her eyes, Serenity woke up to notice her room being different than usual. As she sat up while rubbing her eyes, she remembered that she wasn't at St. Luminous anymore, but at Hogwarts. She still couldn't believe it as she got out of her bed to look out her window to see the view. She inhaled a quick breathe to see the morning sunrise stretch along the lake and by the forest as well as how clear the sky looked with only a few clouds drifting by.

She quickly goes over to the bathroom to brush her teeth and change into her school uniform. Serenity left the bathroom to look at herself on a life-size mirror and noticed the the new colors on her uniform. She traced her tie with her fingers before looking at her cloak which she hung from the single coat hanger in her and Hermione's room.

She smiled at herself as she heard the door open to see Hermione already up and dressed.

"Morning!"

"Morning. Ready for our first day?" Serenity asked as cleans up her bed.

"Of course, but we need to get our schedules at breakfast so lets go!" Hermione replied as both girls giggled and left their dormitory to head downstairs. They saw the boys hanging out by the fireplace and they all just started talking about what classes they were looking forward to, which of course Hermione & Ron had to explain to Serenity and Harry about each class. They heard the older kids say it was time to go get some breakfast as the kids followed the head boy and girl.

As they were walking down the hall the Gryffindor first years were making quite a bit of chatter, all talking about that their first day was going to be like. Serenity was lagging behind with Hermione, Harry, and Ron as they made a sharp turn, which Serenity accidently ran into Professor Snape.

"...I suggest Miss Aragon that you pay attention to where you walk, instead of chattering like some belligerent imbeciles." He sneered as he looked down at the girl.

Serenity flinched by the harsh words as she looked down at her feet.

"S-sorry sir."

He nodded his head before proceeding as the children scurried away. As Serenity passed by him her fingertips lightly touched against his hand, making Serenity stopped for a moment and turned around.

"Oh Professor...Don't drink anything hot for breakfast."

Severus Snape's POV

Snape quickly turned right when the girl scurried back around to chase after her friends to the great hall to eat. He ignored her strange comment as he continued down to the side to open the door to Professor McGonagall's room.

"Good Severus you're arrived, here are the schedules for your students." She handed him a stack of papers for the Slytherin house.

"Thank you..." He said curtly as he left, not wanting to make any small talk. He walked back to the Great Hall to see students already eating and the heads of the houses for Ravenclaw & Hufflepuff passing out schedules. He did the same but instead of passing them out he used the flick of his wand to make each schedule go to the appropriate Slytherin. He took a glance to see McGonagall passing out the schedule to the Gryffindor students one by one by calling out to them. Once he finished, he left to go join the other professors at the staff table. He looked at food and began eating before glancing at the students.

"Would you like some tea Severus?" Pomona Sprout, herbology professor and head of Hufflepuff, asked him.

"...No thank you, not today." He said as he just took a sip of water from his goblet.

"How about you Filius?" Flitwick, charms professor and head of Ravenclaw, looked and said,

"Why of course that would be de- OW! HOT!" He yelps out as it seemed that Pomona accidentally spilled some of the tea on him.

"Oh I'm sorry! I should have taken off my gloves, I lost my grip a bit. Are you alright?"

Flitwick just flicked his wand to make the stain go away and did a quick cooling spell.

"...Don't drink anything hot in the morning today."

Severus glanced over to the Gryffindor table to see Potter talking to his friends. He stared at the girl, Aragon, for what she said earlier. He rolled his eyes as he continues to eat.

A lucky guess…

He took a look to see Minerva come sit next to Pomona.

"What happened?"

"Just an accident. So, excited for any of the new students Minerva?" Filtwick asked.

"A few…Seems like will be quite a handful with his new friends."

"Oh? My I wish that young girl Granger entered into Ravenclaw, I saw her already looking around the library before breakfast."

Filtwick chuckled as Pomona mused,

"Hmm the sorting hat seemed a bit more random this year. Lets hope we don't get too much trouble this year. Oh by the way Minerva, I just got some lovely new herbs the in garden a few week ago, you mu-"

Severus tuned the chatter out before noticing Quirrell sit down next to the oaf Hagrid. Hagrid starts talking about the new pets the students brought while Quirrell stuttered away in fake interest though Severus knew something was fishy with that man. He quickly lost his interest for food and excused himself to prepare for his classes full of twit students.

Serenity's POV

Serenity had a very complex schedule when she first got it in the morning. She had Transfiguration every morning, along with Charms right after. Then after Charms she would have either Herbology on Tuesdays & Thursdays or Defence Against the Dark Arts on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. After that was lunch, then have History of Magic on Monday and Wednesday and Astrology on Tuesday and Thursday. Leaving her with Potions Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for flying lessons. She barely understood what each class was let alone try to figure out where the classes were in such a large castle.

Luckily she had the same schedule as her friends and relaxed a little. After breakfast she and Hermione left early to get their books and to find the Transfiguration classroom. They noticed that they happen to have the class with the Slytherin students by the familiar face of Malfoy and his gang. Both girls went to sit in the front and noticed a cat on the table looking at them.

"You're blocking my view you twits."

Both Serenity and Hermione turned around at Malfoy.

"How rude."

Serenity saw Malfoy with his books already out and quill set and ready in his ink. She also noticed the his other friends just had everything closed and doodling on their papers.

"…You know what…Sorry about that. We just wanted a good spot for the first day, didn't mean to block you."

Malfoy looked at Serenity peculiarly before she turned back around to talk to Hermione.

The class started and Harry & Ron were already late. They came in thinking they were safe but the cat was actually Professor McGonagall. She took points and let them sit down, after commenting about turning one of them into a map. It was a fun first class as they had to turn matches into needles. Harry & Ron struggled while Hermione got it on her second try. Serenity got it on her third try but it turned into a very fine and sharp pointed needle. The professor awarded her and Hermione ten points.

Thats how their day went. Charms was fun with Professor Flitwick, making inanimate objects dance around the air, making the student laugh. Then they had DADA (Defense Against the Dark Arts) with professor Quirrell. Harry felt very strange around him, but he held on. They all had lunch…Kind of as Hermione read her book for the next class, while Ron as telling Serenity & Harry about the sport Quidditch.

After lunch they went to their class: History of Magic with Professor Binn. It wasn't too bad, until the next class which was…Potions...

They arrived in the Potion room, feeling it cool by being in a dungeon. Professor Snape stared at them as each student trickled in. This was Serenity's second class with Gryffindors & Slytherins in one room.

"I don't expect you will really understand the beauty of the softly simmering cauldron with its shimmering fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring the senses...I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even stopper death...If you aren't as big a bunch of dunderheads as I usually have to teach…Then again, maybe some of you have come to Hogwarts in possession of abilities so formidable that you feel confidant enough to not…pay...attention."

Professor Snape stood right in front of Harry's desk before Hermione nudged him to look up.

"Mr. Potter. Our...new...celebrity. Tell me, what would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood? You don't know? Well, let's try again. Where, Mr. Potter, would you look if I asked you to find me a bezoar?"

"I don't know, Sir."

"And what is the difference between Monkshood and Wolfbane?"

" I don't know, Sir."

"Pity. Clearly, fame isn't everything, is it, Mr. Potter?"

Serenity just looked at Harry with a bit of pity as Professor Snape finished humiliating him. Hermione kept raising her hands, clearly knowing the answers but that wasn't the Professor's objective at all.

For a man that hates children he seems to love Potions.

She remembered his speech before moving his attention to Harry. Serenity wondered why he seemed to have a deep hate for Harry particularly, especially in the way he looks at him.

Professor Snape then gave everyone an assignment to answered some questions of how to make a Boil cure potion, then after turning in their papers they were to create one by the end of class, with the books that had the instructions. Each table had the ingredients and cauldrons ready for them.

"Good lu-"

"And no talking is required." Snape said sternly as he walked to his desk to sit, watching everyone.

Serenity gave a little glance to Hermione to see she was already chopping the ingredients.

Alright...I need to do my best!

Serenity was determined as she gave herself a deep breath before tying up her hair into a ponytail. She rolled her sleeves up as she looked at the ingredients and at the book. She first added 6 snake fangs into a shone bowl and crushed it into a fine powder using a thick wooden pestle. She then added 4 measures of the crushed fangs to her cauldron, then heated the mixture to 250 degrees for 10 seconds.

She took out her wand from her cloak to wave it, just as the book instructed, then leave it alone to brew. She took a few notes on it and looked at Hermione. Hermione looked like she was struggling a little but seem to be doing fine. After 25 minutes she added 4 horned slugs to her cauldron.

For Serenity it was almost like cooking a recipe, and since she cooked a lot in the Orphanage it felt like she knew what she was doing a bit then took the cauldron off the fire before adding 2 porcupine quills to your cauldron. She glanced at to book to see it say stir 5 times, clockwise.

Alright...One...Two

"AHH!"

She heard a scream of a boy named Neville Longbottom that started to sprout angry red boils. His cauldron was melted and hissed as if it were alive. Professor Snape waved his wand to clear the mess and sent Neville with another boy off to see the school nurse.

"That's what happen when you don't read the instruction carefully! Mr. Longbottom's made a mistake by adding his quills into the cauldron before taking it off the fire. Now finish up!" He hissed as he deducted twenty points for Nevile's stupidity.

She finished the fifth stir and waved her wand to complete the potion. She smiled as she slowly poured it into a vial and placed her name on it. She went to pick up her wand and looked at it. She smiled for a moment as she enjoyed the cool touch it felt to her hand before tucking it away.

"Done Miss Aragon?"

She flinched slightly as she shyly looked up to see the Professor looking down at her. She gave a small nod as she placed the vial in front of him. He took it up and inspected it before his eyebrow perked up.

"It's adequate...now that you are done, clean your station and leave." He said with a sneer as she quickly rolled up her sleeves against to clean her station before packing up to leave. She waited with Hermione for Ron and Harry to finish up, though she could see that they weren't doing so well. Ron messed up as his potion turned to an ugly orange color while Harry's was a pink bubble like substance.

When they were done, the boys quickly met up with the girls so they could all get something to eat before diving into homework for the week, well at least for the girls. They went back to their rooms but Serenity stayed after with Harry as both ended up talking about how new everything feels as they both recently discovered what they were so it felt a bit easier talking to each other about their confusions and struggles. Hermione came down to join them after quick read, though she brought another book with her, and Ron was there but he as asleep on the couch.

Before they were all told to go to bed, Hagrid stopped by with Valiant and said that the poor pup missed Serenity quite a bit. She asked if she could at least keep Valiant with her for her first year til he's all grown up and Hagrid agreed as well as getting McGonagall's consent. They both went to McGonagall's office and it seemed that Dumbledore had already talked to her about it and made it so Valiant was allowed to roam around the castle like any other familiar/pet as long as he is well behaved and doesn't disturb anything or anyone.

Hagrid dropped her and Valiant back at the Gryffindor common room and gave him a hug. He even gave Valiant a hug too before petting his head and leaving for the night. Serenity walked with Valiant up to her room, surprising Hermione by their new roommate. Hermione didn't mind as she started to list facts about their classes tomorrow before drifting back to sleep. Serenity soon finished up her reading and went to bed, having Valiant curl up at her feet as she slowly drifted to sleep after having an interesting first day of school.

Severus Snape's POV

...She must have cheated...She must have worked with that insufferable know it all Granger!

Snape was looking over essays from the summer that he got back from his fourth years. He kept on looking at the first years potions. He makes every first year do this to see how each ones capabilities go and it seemed that for most in his class weren't that bright at all. However, he looked at one particular vial with the perfect consistency and color red with a name on it.

It's too...perfect, even for her first try. Even Granger shouldn't get it perfect and she wrote all the correct answered before doing the potion.

He glanced at Miss Granger's to find it very close to the same consistency but slightly off by color.

He placed his quill down and leaned back in his seat to think about this mysterious student. He has heard that Miss Aragon is from an orphanage but would that mean her parents were muggles? They could very well be purebloods but didn't want her. He gave a smirk as he sat back up and continued to grade the papers.

No matter, she's just another Gryffindor…Its Potter I need to worry about.

He remembered her and Granger waiting for Potter and Weasley at the door, the sound of their obnoxious chattering as they left. He rolled his eyes as he continued to grade, giving a few essay a little bit more of a tougher time than usual.
