A/N: Hi!
TheTombedSpirit: Thanks. Has it been two weeks already? WOW!
brankel1: Thanks.
Kira and Ethan were currently at the cybercafé with about half of the former rangers and Kim. The other half, mainly the MMPR, Alien, Zeo and Turbo teams were back at Michael's. It hadn't been easy accommodating everyone but it was necessary. Jason and Tommy - the two oldest and most legendary reds - had been training with Conner who was frustrated about not being able to beat the White Ranger. He had been waiting for them when they arrived at Reefside and he had demorphed all of them, minus Kira who hadn't been there.
"I still can't believe that we know the original rangers! And all the other former ones! And man, that red ranger team up was so sick!" Ethan exclaimed like a fangirl. Recently, Cole Evans - red wild force ranger - had told him all about when the infamous Lord Zedd's zord Serpenterra was discovered and all the red rangers, minus Rocky, had to go to the moon and destroy it. In the end, it was Cole who dealt the final blow. "I mean Jason, Aurico, Tommy, T.J, Andros, Leo, Carter, Wes, Eric and Cole?! Man, that's so cool!"
Kira rolled her eyes. For sure, it was great, she thought it was cool too but Ethan just couldn't shut his mouth. For the first time ever, the purple ranger actually found that she'd prefer Conner talking about soccer over this. On top of the whole white ranger business, she hadn't been seeing much of Trent these past few days. And she just couldn't stop worrying about both him and the White Ranger.
She looked at her fellow rangers and couldn't help but feel a little empty. Sure she loved Ethan, but it wasn't the same as it was with Trent. Kira could see loads of couples and could list them off the top of her head. Andros and Ashley, Zhane and Karone, Carter and Dana, Leo and Kendrix, Wes and Jen (they had 1000 years between them, but that didn't stop them!), Eric and Taylor, Cole and Alyssa, Hunter and Cam...
Wait what? She never realised that before, but looking at the two Ninja Storm rangers now, it seemed a little obvious...
As it so happened, Kira was not the only one musing over love and relationships. Her very own teammate Kimberly Ann Hart was thinking about Tommy and to her horror, she realised her heart was beating a little too fast over his love confession. She didn't think she could do this again. Once was enough.
Hayley scampered over to the two teen dino rangers. "Have you seen Trent? I'm a little worried; he hasn't shown up and he's never late!" She realised that while she was talking Trent made it in and was heading towards her. She turned around to face an exhausted looking Trent.
"I'm sorry, I just had a-" he started but didn't quite get to finish.
"Trent, are you okay?" Kira blurted out, jumping out of her seat and running to him. Trent lazily nodded.
"Yeah man, you look like you've just seen..." Trent didn't hear the name that Ethan just spluttered out.
"Who?"
"He's from Black Knight's Castle. Just came out last week. Grippleshank's massive, with black eyes, yellow teeth and he spits this toxic stuff that dissolves you if you look at him!" Kira shot Ethan an annoyed look. Ethan backed up in fear.
"Yeah, okay, I'll look out for him," Trent humoured his weird friend. "But back on planet reality, I've got a lot of work to do!"
"You know, technically, if he'd seen Grippleshank, he wouldn't be here to tell you," Hayley quipped at Ethan before turning around and leaving.
"You women have it out for me," Ethan mumbled.
"Hey, don't feel bad," Kira told her friend. "That's why her name's up on the wall."
Three morphers beeped in unison. Kim snapped out of her reverie and silently cursed her fate; now she'd have to see Tommy again back at the McKnight's.
"Please don't tell me it's him again, I'm still picking gravel out of my hair from last time," Kira complained, getting up.
"Only one way to find out," Ethan stated, as they walked out of the cybercafé.
"Hey guys come on," Kim told her many fellow rangers. They all immediately got to their feet to follow her.
Hayley turned to see Trent swaying with the tray he was holding. He finally fell and sent the tray's contents crashing to the ground. The red head went to help him up.
"If you didn't want to bus tables, all you had to do was say so!" Hayley scolded the young waiter.
"Sorry Hayley, I just lost it for a second," Trent apologised, still looking out of it.
"Sit, I'll get this," Hayley commanded, pulling Trent up and sitting him down in a chair. "I hate getting all bossy on you but I think I need to order you to take some time off."
"No, no, I'm fine," Trent protested feebly.
"Look, I have a strict glassware budget I have to adhere to; can't afford any more breakage today," Hayley more of less told the truth. What Trent didn't know wouldn't hurt him.
"You're probably right. After all, you are smart," Trent replied, accepting his boss' orders.
"I think my parents will be glad to hear that my MIT education hasn't gone to waste," Hayley teased. Trent got up and walked away. "Call me later, to let me know you're alright," the red head called after him. He nodded and left. His boss watched on in concern.
"Hey Mike, we got here as soon as we could!" Kim cried out, followed by an entourage of former rangers along with Kira and Ethan. "What's wrong?"
The MMPR (minus Kat), Alien, Zeo and Turbo teams were there looking worried.
"You guys have got to see this!" Conner mumbled.
"You know who the White Ranger is?" Kira asked hopefully.
"No, but look at this," Michael said, pointing at the screen where there was a white dinozord egg.
"It looks like it's ready to pop!" Ethan commented in disbelief.
"It is," Mike agreed softly.
"There's another one," Kim stated, as another one appeared on-screen.
"Dinozord eggs all over the place," Kira observed.
"Hey, you think this is what Easter was like millions of years ago?" Ethan joked, obviously pleased with himself. Kira couldn't even be bothered to roll her eyes at that one. A few of the other rangers laughed.
"How does he come up with this stuff?" Conner asked in incredulity, shaking his head.
"What's going to be done?" T.J questioned.
"Right, Conner you take the Lightspeed Rescue team and go to the warehouse. Ethan, take Lost Galaxy and go to the docks, you guys can talk about your Dino Easter theory," Michael ordered. Ethan smirked and left with his team. Conner made a face at his dad's last words before doing the same.
"Umm, what about us?" Kim almost demanded, scared that she'd be left alone to deal with Tommy.
"I'm not allowing Kira to go unless it's absolutely necessary," Michael said. Kira opened her mouth to protest but winced as she did so. Maybe he had a point... "And Kim you take Tommy to the woods, just in case. That's Elsa's favourite haunt."
Kim's mouth fell open in shock. 'I swear he's doing this on purpose!' she thought.
"Do you think you're a matchmaker?!" she hissed in her friend's ear, although Kira heard.
Mike merely looked up at her and rather innocently replied, "I don't know what you're talking about..." Kira giggled.
"Fine!" Kim huffed, amusing her young teammate even further. She felt tempted to make a Trent comment but decided against it; Kira was already having a hard time.
Kim and Tommy trekked through the woods, Kim holding the meter up to see if she could get a signal. She doubted she would, though. She was sure that Mike sent her out here to be alone with Tommy. Why else would he order just the two of them to go on their own?
"Look, Kim, we have to talk about this. We can't just leave it."
Kim came back to reality as Tommy spoke.
"Talk about what?" she snapped.
"You know what I mean, Kim. I'm sorry if what I said hurt your feelings but I did mean it," Tommy confessed.
"And what? It doesn't mean I have to feel the same way you do," Kim replied coldly.
"No, it doesn't. But maybe, just maybe, you feel something between us. Because I do; in fact I did, at the reunion," the former ranger stated. "Look I know how-"
"No, you don't! Don't say you know how I feel because you don't!" Kim retorted. "You don't know what it was like. You think you were the only one hurting? You weren't. I tried to move on. I tried so hard. But 11 years later, here I am, still single."
"I'm not the one who wrote the letter Kim," Tommy responded resentfully. "You know if you told me to wait for you after the Pan Global Games, I actually would have."
Tears started to prick at Kim's eyes. Tommy's words were harsh but true. She started all this. To think, that if she did things differently they could've been happy now. Deep down, she knew it was true. They could have had a long distance relationship and then got back together afterwards. After all, their relationship had always been very realistic; it wasn't really necessary to break his heart.
"Look, we should just be friends. The past is the past. Let's leave it where it belongs," Kim advocated. This was the best course of action. She had better things to worry about than her love life right now. She stuck her hand out. "Truce?"
Tommy sighed. It looked like she was playing hard to get. Finally, he accepted. In time, he would get her back but for now, he'd go along with her wishes. He took her hand and shook it.
"Are you getting anything?" Joel asked Conner, who was just holding the meter up and not actually doing anything.
"I don't know how to read this thing!" the red ranger complained. "Why couldn't Dad make Ethan do this?"
Dana Grayson stepped forward and said, "Give it to me."
Within a few seconds, the meter started beeping and the Lightspeed Rescue rangers ran in the direction Dana pointed at.
"Oh great, a creepy abandoned place!" Conner whined.
"Let's just get it and leave!" Chad conceded.
They ran further into the warehouse until they saw the dinozord egg. Conner and the others exchanged grave looks.
"At least, we know it's not abandoned!" Kelsey chimed, trying to brighten up the mood.
As they got closer and were about to round the corner, the White Ranger came into view. He was walking towards the egg, seemingly transferring his ranger energy to it. The others quickly backed up before they were seen.
"Maybe we should talk to him?" Ryan suggested.
"How about I morph and kick his butt?" Conner proposed confidently. The Lightspeed Rescue rangers didn't really agree but what other choice did they have? Carter nodded his approval.
The rangers rounded the corner.
"Hey!" Kelsey and Dana yelled.
"I don't have time to play rangers," the White Ranger declared haughtily. "I'm busy. Now go!" He created arrows with his dagger and sent them in Conner's direction.
All seven of them fell to the ground, Dana dropping the meter.
"We're not here to play!" Conner spat.
"Oh really?" the White Ranger sounded bored.
Conner morphed. "Ready to get this poser?"
The others nodded. Unfortunately, they were on the ground again before they even made it to their enemy.
"More trouble heading your way, son," Michael spoke through the morpher.
"Worse than this?" Chad muttered.
"That's all we need!" Ryan complained.
"This isn't even a challenge; take a hike before you really get hurt!" the White Ranger ordered, his tone dripping with condescension.
"We're not leaving without the egg!" Joel declared.
"We can stay here and fight but I thought you wanted to save the city!" the evil one crooned.
"He's right," Kira said through the morpher. "Doctor M, let me go and get the egg. Conner needs to be in the megazord with Ethan and Kim."
"That's madness!" Kim scolded Kira through the morpher. "You're already hurt!"
"Kim's right! He could demorph you again or worse!" Hayley backed Kim up.
"He won't. Because I won't be going by myself..." Kira started. She turned around to face the MMPR, Alien, Zeo, Turbo, Space, Time Force, Wild Force and Ninja Storm teams, "What do you say, guys? You wanna help me?"
"YES!" they all shouted in agreement. Michael sighed but at the same time, he couldn't help but smile. He felt proud of his protégée.
"Conner, tell Lightspeed Rescue to stand down and wait for me. Ethan, send Lost Galaxy to the warehouse!"
'This is war,' Kira thought in her head.
