A/N: I'm back! I've noticed the number of reviews per chapter has dwindled down... am I uploading too quickly? Turned-By-William AKA Spike, Apollo Holmes, where are you guys?
brankel1: Yeah. Thanks.
hewhoreaps: Yeah, Kim and Kira are alike in so many ways and I suppose the same goes for Trent and Tommy. Well, nothing's really been said but I guess their feelings have definitely been conveyed.
TheTombedSpirit: Aww, thanks!
ChillPillBerry: Thank you.
Trent tiredly stumbled through the woods as he tried to get away from Reefside as quickly as possible. He heaved under the weight of the backpack which contained a lot of his possessions. He didn't want to think about how his dad would freak when he noticed Trent was missing. But then again, his dad didn't seem to be himself so maybe he hadn't noticed yet. Trent pulled out his GPS and groaned.
"I've got to get further away," Trent looked at his white dino gem. "It's not safe." He decided to take a rest and unceremoniously slumped against a tree, drinking some water.
"Hold it there White Ranger!" came an irritatingly familiar voice, making Trent freeze. He looked up to see Cassidy and Devin standing there, looking back at him.
"No, don't worry, Cass, it's just Trent," Devin told her. Cassidy seemed to be disappointed.
"Oh."
"Man," Trent started as he stood up. "You scared me half to death!"
"Whatever, I thought you were the White Ranger," Cassidy told him.
"Yeah," Devin agreed.
"Me?" Trent asked, leaning against the tree and trying to hide how nervous he was. "You're kidding right?"
"No, I didn't actually think you were the White Ranger," Cassidy replied. "I thought that..."
"LOOK OUT!" Trent hollered when he spotted something purple heading towards Cassidy and Devin.
Fortunately, the pair turned around in time and ducked, falling to the ground at Trent's feet. The purple object streaked past them and then collided with the ground, causing an earth-shattering explosion.
"What the heck was that?" Trent pondered aloud, thoroughly shocked.
"A low-flying spaceship?" Devin suggested, getting up.
"I dunno, but whatever it was just landed over there," Cassidy responded, standing up and fixing her hair. "Grab your camera."
"No, wait," Trent interjected, stopping the pair. "It could be dangerous."
"Danger's my middle name," Cassidy quipped proudly before walking in the direction of the fallen object.
"I thought it was Agnes," Devin muttered in confusion, following her.
"I'm gonna regret this," Trent murmured as he picked up his backpack and put it on. Believe it or not, he was actually going to follow Cassidy and Devin.
"McKnight, on a breakaway," Conner narrated as he played around with his football and performed some tricks, in his father's dino lab. Ethan was on his laptop playing a game while Kira and Kim were both gently strumming their guitars.
"Hayley!" Ethan called out excitedly. "One more level and I break my all-time record." Conner peered at his friend over the side of a box and grinned. He carefully aimed his small red football at the escape key on the laptop, shutting off the game. "Conner!"
Conner walked around Ethan to retrieve the ball, laughing at him.
"Sorry," Conner apologized rather unapologetically as Ethan got up.
"Now I have to start all over," Ethan complained as Conner picked up his ball
"You know, there's this great new thing called the outdoors," Conner told him, patting him on the shoulder as they walked away from the laptop. "You might wanna check it out."
"Tell you what," Ethan began as he turned to look at Conner, "I'll check that out when I see you checking out the library." Conner guffawed.
"You have a much better chance of seeing that than seeing Kira at a fashion show," Conner told him with a laugh.
"Do you really want to go there?" Kira asked as she looked up from her guitar, making Conner and Ethan purse their lips to keep their laughter in. Sometimes, Kira was scary.
"You don't wanna mess with Kira, Conner," Kim warned teasingly. "Sleep with one eye open tonight." Conner paled.
"Yikes," Ethan mumbled as he hit Conner on the arm and then walked over to Hayley, "Hey, any luck of de-fossilizing Doctor M?"
"Not yet," Hayley answered as she stopped scanning Michael. "I just can't find an energy source that can safely break the molecular bonds of the amber." Just then the computer beeped, revealing a picture of a purple object. Hayley sat down and clicked on the picture. "That's weird. The satellite's picking up a strange reading from the forest."
"Not another dino gem! I don't reckon we can handle more evil rangers!" Kim exclaimed, chancing a glance at Kira who nodded solemnly.
"Let's go take a look," Conner proposed, leading the rangers away.
"We're the first on the scene," Cassidy announced as she led the guys to the crash site. "This is hot. There it is! Devin, start rolling!"
"Careful," Trent cautioned as Devin hit behind Cassidy.
"Oh, it's harmless," she claimed, pushing Devin closer to the object. "Get a close up."
"You sure Cass?" Devin asked, his voice wavering. "It's still smoking." Trent knelt down in to get a closer look and realised it was a meteorite. "Looks good on camera, though."
"What do you think it is?" Cassidy questioned.
"It's hard to say," Devin answered, as Trent discovered his dino gem was glowing again. He looked up in confusion.
"Trent?" Trent heard Kira's voice making him look over.
"What are you guys doing here?" Trent inquired, shocked to see Kira and her friends. He had hoped he'd never have to face her again, not after what happened at the lake clearing.
"I might ask you the same thing," Conner sneered. "Haven't seen you around for a while."
"Yeah, we really need to catch up," Ethan snarled in agreement. Cassidy and Devin exchanged surprised looks at the hostility between their classmates.
Trent stood up and Kira blocked the guys, who were approaching him like predators.
"Not now guys," she stated firmly.
"This really isn't the time!" Kim hissed.
"They're right," Conner conceded, letting his hatred towards Trent take a backseat. "Let's check this thing out."
"Um, I don't think I'm supposed to let you do that," came an unwelcome voice.
All 7 of them looked over to see a monster and a group of tyrannodrones who had seemingly appeared out of nowhere. Kim scowled. Trust Mesogog to send a third party whenever they were with Trent.
"Quick, run," Cassidy shrieked at the group. She and Devin took off as the rangers, including Trent, stood their ground. Tyrannodrones encircled the group of rangers while Cassidy and Devin hid behind a tree, watching to see what would happen.
"You want me to get this?" Devin enquired as he brought up his camera.
"Hideous mutant creatures?" Cassidy scoffed in disgust. "Like that's news in this town. Let's get outta here!"
They scampered off, unaware of the two purple streams of energy which shot out of the meteorite and into them. The rangers stayed where they were and Conner quickly located Trent.
"Whose side you on today, Trent?" he questioned condescendingly. Kira shot him a glare and then gave Trent a hopeful look. In turn, Trent took one look at Kira and decided.
"Do you want my help or not?" he retorted at the red ranger, slipping his backpack off.
"If it's all the same, I'll just watch from over here," the monster said before he went and hid while the tyrannodrones rushed in to attack the rangers, almost like a mob of fans engulfing celebrities.
Each of the rangers took on around four-five tyrannodrones, defeating them effortlessly. After defeating those, they were instantly bombarded by a sea of tyrannodrones. Kira's dino gem bracelet beeped, prompting her to turn on the com-link.
"Go."
"Guys, I have been analysing the radiation from that rock and it's really freaky," Hayley informed in a worried tone. "Get away from it!"
"It's a little late for that!" Kira replied before kicking a monster in the gut, sending it to the ground.
Kim hurled a tyrannodrone to the ground when she and the others noticed Conner get hit in the back. This made the rangers, minus Trent, regroup to observe the monster that went from tame to energetic in a matter of seconds.
"Come on, you wimps," the monster taunted.
"You're thinking what I'm thinking?" Ethan asked as Conner stood up.
"Ready?"
"Ready!"
"Dino Thunder! Power up! Ha!" The four rangers quickly morphed into their rangers.
"Attack!" the monster ordered the tyrannodrones as the four rangers ran forward.
The purple ranger pulled out her fought her way through the tyrannodrones, keeping an eye on Trent who was also fighting. She noticed a purple beam of energy go towards him and screeched. However, it just went straight through him. Kira blinked in surprise before shaking her head. She told herself she was imagining it and continued fighting.
Trent backed up after flooring his group and felt light-headed, his vision going blurry.
"Oh no," Trent breathed, taking this as a sign that he was going to morph soon. He had to get away otherwise he'd hurt Kira and the others. He took off.
Soon after, the meteor emitted twelve purple beams of energy, three headed for each ranger. All four rangers were momentarily nauseous. All of a sudden, Kim smirked underneath her helmet and sprang into action. The others gawked at her in awe as she unleashed all sorts of things and even unlocked her super dino mode, showing the tyrannodrones no mercy. If they were humans, they'd be in critical condition by now or even dead.
"It'll be back for round two," the creature announced after Conner feebly pushed him back. He and the tyrannodrones disappeared.
"Okay, power down," Conner shouted as all four Rangers powered. The others regrouped around their leader. "Well, that was a challenging altercation."
"I was just getting started," Ethan growled, a crazed look in his eyes. "I wanted to annihilate that goon."
"Ew, I got dirt under my nails," Kira whined, analysing her cuticles. "That's like, totally disgusting."
"Pfft, that was so easy," Kim claimed, looking bored. "I hope they send a real bad guy next time."
"Hey, where's Trent?" Conner implored, scanning the area. Kira's eyes started sparkling and she smiled like a ditz.
Their morphers beeped, grabbing their attention.
"Guys come back to the lab," Hayley ordered. "I've got some news about the space rock."
"Space rock?" the rangers repeated in confusion, exchanged bewildered looks.
"It's actually a meteor fragment," Hayley commented as she typed something.
"Fascinating!" Conner exclaimed, a massive grin on his face. His friends gaped at him. "It must have broken off during some sort of intergalactic collision." He soon noticed the weird looks he was receiving. "What?"
"I'm just afraid that coming in such close proximity to it might have some strange side effects," Hayley confessed in concern. "Do you guys feel okay?"
Ethan was totally ignoring the redhead, opting to fangirl over his own arms as he flexed them. Kira grimaced in repulsion.
"I for one am going home," she proclaimed, startling Hayley with what she said next. "If I don't swab my cuticles in an aloe bath, my nails will never grow back. And then what will I say to my boyfriend?" Kim rolled her eyes at Kira. Conner and Ethan looked somewhat confused as to who she was talking about. "Trent! Duh!" The boys finally nodded in understanding.
"I gotta hit the gym," Ethan stated, touching himself up. "Gotta work on my pecks."
"I wanna get home to watch that great documentary on the pyramids," Conner put in as Hayley nodded slowly. "It looks quite fascinating."
"Whatever," Kim muttered. "You kids are just sooo boring." Kira glared at the yellow ranger who just ignored her. "Well, I have to go and find some real company."
Hayley cringed as the teens and Kim left. Were these really the same people she'd met a few months back?
The next day, Hayley paced around dino lab totally speechless. Most of the former rangers were here with her, watching Ethan in shock and amusement.
"Sup Hayley?" Ethan chirped, sweating heavily as he lifted weights.
"Ethan, are you sure you feel okay?" she implored, coming to a stop next to him.
"Oh yeah, I'm pumped and ready to rock!" Jason went up to Ethan and fist bumped him, giving him fitness tips.
Just then Conner came in, carrying a stack of books, looking like some university student who was studying at Harvard. Hayley was taken by surprise for the second time that day. His hair was swept back neatly, he was wearing glasses, his red shirt was buttoned up for once and he was wearing a tweed blazer on top as well as black dress pants and shoes. Billy nodded, totally impressed. Conner looked as if he could be his twin!
"Good morning, all," he greeted as he approached them. "The weather is particularly pleasant today. Excessively low humidity."
"Whatever bro," Ethan replied, chuckling. "Look at my arms. Am I ripped or what?"
Conner ignored him and walked over to Trini. "Hey, did you catch that documentary about Egyptian tombs yesterday?"
"Hello," someone almost sang from the top of the stairs. Everyone turned to see Kira sauntering down the steps like a supermodel, a multitude of shopping bags hanging from both wrists. "Sorry I'm late; there was a sale and I just couldn't...well, you understand."
Her hair was in a neat ponytail, fringe held back by a purple headband and she was wearing a spaghetti strap purple summer dress with high heels. Hayley's mouth fell open.
"Urgh, my bike ran out of fuel," Kim groaned as she walked into the dino lab from the same way Kira did. She blew a bubble, chewing her bubble-gum really loudly. Hayley did a double take when she saw Kim wearing black leather... everything: jacket, trousers, boots etc. Tommy gulped as Kim headed his way. "Hey babe, wanna take a ride with me?" He laughed nervously.
"Hey," Ethan spoke up as he was still lifting weights. The others looked over at him, except Kim, who was too busy flirting with Tommy. "You guys think I'm ready for the Iron Man competition?"
"Okay, I think there were definitely side effects from being exposed to that meteor," Hayley informed the group. "We need to destroy that rock and get you guys back to normal."
"Huh?" Ethan frowned looking lost.
"Side effects," Conner's interest peaked, "I find that highly improbable."
"Yeah, I feel like I could kick Mesogog's butt myself," Ethan agreed with a nod.
"I agree with the nerd," Kim purred, linking arms with Tommy. Conner seemed to be hurt and the rest of the rangers were stunned by her comment.
Suddenly, the computer alarm went off making Hayley sigh as the image of the monster from earlier appeared on the screen. He was having a blast... literally. "That'll have to wait. Look who's back."
Hayley walked over to the computer while the others exchanged glances before dropping their books, weights and shopping bags onto the floor and standing in formation.
"Ready?" Conner asked hesitantly while Kira made sure that her headband was intact.
"Ready!" Kim, Ethan, and Kira agreed.
"Dino Thunder, power up! Ha!"
"Let's devise a strategy of attack," Conner insisted, speculating some strategies.
"I've got a strategy," Ethan claimed as he popped the knuckles on his right hand, "We crush him."
"The lines on my suit are so completely wrong," Kira complained as she surveyed her ranger suit. "Why doesn't anyone make superhero costumes for Petites?"
"Seriously, this guy?" Kim groaned before she faced Conner. "We don't need a strategy. He's so level 0.1!"
"Colourful earthlings," the monster said, getting the rangers' attentions. "Prepare to be destroyed."
"Huh?"
"Oh."
Conner was floored via a laser blast.
"Haha!" Kim blatantly laughed at this.
"That was totally uncalled for," Conner whined at the monster. He turned to Kira. "Kira a hand?"
"I just know that I'm going to have the worst helmet hair after this," Kira grumbled completely ignoring Conner.
Before Kim could make a rude remark, the creature fired at the others and they joined the red ranger one the ground.
"You're no match for me silly suckers," the creature crooned at them. "Later posers."
The Rangers were unable to stop the monster from leaving through the invisiportal.
"I told you that we should have thought this out," Conner informed his team.
"In my business, you either go big or you go home," Ethan interjected unhelpfully.
"Well, I say we got to the mall," Kira suggested.
"I need some new gum," Kim growled, demorphing and spitting out her stale gum.
"Eww," Kira mewled in disgust. "I'm gonna go give Trent a call."
"Have fun!"
"Tommy's waiting for me. Bye!"
"Later."
The team split up and went in four different directions.
Hayley worked on trying to find a way to free Michael from the amber so she was conducting more scans on the rock. She beeped the rangers and within a few minutes, four very grumpy people filed into the lab.
"Hey guys," Hayley greeted as they walked in.
"What now?" Ethan snapped rudely, a towel over his shoulders, soaking up all the sweat. "I was having a super intense workout!"
"And I was right in the middle of a very compelling biography!" Conner added, clasping his books like they were the most precious thing on earth.
"I was gonna get laid," Kim stated. Hayley gave her a horrified look and felt really sorry for Tommy.
"Is this gonna involve dirt?" Kira inquired while grimacing. "Cuz if it does, I'm gonna have to say: nuh-uh."
"Sorry I interrupted your busy day," Hayley scoffed as she turned to face them. "I just thought you might like to know I think I've found a way to un-fossilize Doctor McKnight."
"Yeah?"
"Really?"
"No way."
"Wow!"
All four rangers snapped out of their clouded heads long enough to consider the possibility.
"The meteor fragment," Hayley elaborated. "My theory is that it frees your inner self. That's why you guys are acting so weird."
"Of course! If you could, harness its power you could, free Dad from the inside-out!" Conner stated before pushing up his glasses. "Although, I do take offence at being called weird."
"Sorry," Hayley apologized, smirking a little. "You're not being weird…it's just that the rock is allowing you to show a side of yourself that you don't usually show."
"A recessive personality trait!" Conner suggested, amazed by the discovery.
"You could say that," Hayley conceded. "Like Conner; there's a part of you that's intelligent, studious. Ethan; there's a part of you that's athletic, even competitive."
"So that's why Trent helped us?" Kira came to a realisation. "There's still a part of him that's really good." Hayley nodded.
"I still don't get any of this," Ethan said.
"You don't have to. For now, just pull it together as a team. Trust me," Hayley urged.
"That sounds logical," Conner commented.
"Alright, here's what I need you to do..." Hayley started only to be interrupted by the computer alarm. "Oh, again?" Hayley turned to look at the computer to see the monster onscreen. "First things first."
The rangers once again dropped their possessions and stood in formation.
"Ready?" Conner asked the other three. Kira once again made sure her headband was on properly.
"Ready!" Kira, Ethan, and Kim agreed.
"Dino Thunder, power up! Ha!"
"Being bad feels so good," the creature sang before he was blasted from behind.
"Hey, mutant!" Conner called as said monster turned around.
"You again?" it asked.
"Thundermax sabre!" Conner leapt into the air, slashing the creature consistently, causing it to fly backwards across the street. "Most excellent."
"I've got something for ya too," Ethan yelled, pointing at the monster.
"Wow, leave some for me!" Kira chimed, beginning to run towards the monster with Ethan in tow.
"Don't you dare forget about me!" Kim roared.
Kira and Ethan jumped up into the air and used Conner's shoulders as a boost. They both kicked the monster in the gut. Once the monster got up again Kim took out her thundermax saber and put it into laser mode. She then proceeded to shoot the monster until it fell again. The others joined her and pulled out their own.
"All together now," Kira ordered, as they all shot the monster in unison sending it to the ground again.
Slowly but surely, the creature got back up and he fired at them, flooring them.
"This creature leaves us no choice!" Conner claimed, standing up with the others.
"Super dino mode!" all four called as their suits changed. "Dino rangers rock!"
"Huh?"
The red, blue and yellow rangers charged at the monster hitting it and holding it in place for Kira, who pulled out her Pterano-whip and strangled him with it. She released the monster after a while, letting the three primary rangers kick and punch it to their hearts' content. They then regrouped around the purple ranger.
"Oustanding!" Conner commented.
"Let's put them together," Ethan insisted.
The three primary rangers and Kira all combined their weapons.
"Z-Rex Blaster!"
"Ready?" Kira shouted.
"Fire!" Ethan hollered.
Kim danced around the remains of the blown up monster.
"We rock."
"So fabulous."
"Oh yeah!"
"Good work team."
A familiar storm appeared in the sky and as it rained, the monster was resurrected into its master form.
"I'm big and I'm back."
"It's zord time." The brachiozord appeared and Kira watched from the ground as her friends formed the Thundersaurus Megazord and started to fight the monster.
"Ankylozord," Kira summoned, deciding to help them out.
The zord joined with the megazord, providing the rangers with a shield against the monster's attacks.
"That did it!" Ethan said.
"Catch ya on the flip side!" the monster chanted before sauntering away, muttering: "Stupid megazord!" The Dino Stegazord appeared and thwarted the monster's escape plan.
"Going somewhere?" came Trent's voice.
"It's Trent!" Kira exclaimed happily, as she looked up from the ground. "He came to help us!" Her excitement got the better of her and she started acting like Trent's personal cheerleader, hopping up and down in joy. "Go Trent! Go Trent!"
The Dino Stegazord launched its sword forward into the monster's gut, causing fireworks. Using the double drill attack, the megazord swiftly destroyed the monster for good, causing a huge explosion that erupted between the two megazords.
"I'm outta here," Trent stated, navigating his megazord away from the area.
"Trent!" Kira called after him, but he either didn't hear her or blatantly ignored her. She shook her head in dismay, knowing that Trent's nice streak was most likely gone.
The four rangers rode up on their raptor cycles.
"Alright guys, lasers on full power," Conner commanded.
"Fire!" all four Rangers yelled as they fired their lasers in unison, mid-air. Afterwards, they dismounted from the cycles and ran over to the crash site.
"Do you think this is going to work?" Kira questioned as Ethan picked up a fragment of the meteorite.
"The components should still have enough residual power to help Doctor M," Ethan answered confidently.
"Dude, how do you know this stuff?" Conner enquired.
"It's called education," Ethan replied sassily, smirking with raised eyebrows.
"Okay that was kind of brutal," Conner reprimanded, quickly shooting a look at Ethan. "Hey, you sound like the old Ethan."
"Hey, I do," Ethan agreed, letting his smirk turn into a full blown grin.
"So Kira, you wanna go shopping with me next weekend?" Kim offered teasingly.
"No thank you," Kira retorted, rolling her eyes. "One more minute at a shopping mall..."
Kim gasped. The other three gave her weird looks. The yellow ranger suddenly pulled her teammates into a group hug.
"Oh my God! I've been so mean! I'm so sorry!"
The boys snickered and Kira laughed as they all hugged her back.
"It's alright Kim," the three teens reassured her, speaking in unison.
"Let's get this rock back to the lab," Conner spoke.
"I'm assuming you're all back to normal," Hayley implored, noticing that the rangers - minus Kim - were dressed like they usually did.
"Thank goodness," Ethan breathed out as Kira gave the rock to Hayley.
"I hear that," Conner agreed.
Just then, they heard footsteps approached them from the top of the stairs. Kim winked at the rest of the rangers as Tommy appeared. He walked down the stairs and blushed as soon as he saw Kim, still dressed in her leathers.
The yellow ranger sauntered towards him. "Hey Tommy," she purred in a seductive tone, tracing his face with her fingers.
"Uhh, hi," Tommy replied in a mortified tone. The yellow ranger grinned as her ex-boyfriend ran away and she proceeded to chase after him like a child. The others shook their heads in amusement.
Kira handed the rock to Hayley and an idea came to mind. "Since the meteor changed Trent to good, couldn't we use it to fight the effects of the dino gem?"
"That might work," Hayley replied. "But let's try this first."
Hayley placed the rock carefully in a machine and switched it on. "Activating." Conner watched anxiously with bated breath while Ethan looked sceptical. Kira finally breathed out when the amber began to dissolve. By now, Kim and Tommy were standing at the doorway, anticipating the outcome. However, the machine blew a fuse making them all yelp in fear, even Conner.
Kim ran over to the machine and pulled the container up. "The rock...it's fried!"
"Yeah, but look," Conner exclaimed, running up to his dad who was moving around, no longer encased in amber. On a whim, he hugged the black ranger who returned the gesture, after getting over the original shock. All of a sudden, Conner remembered they had an audience and pulled away. "Ahem." He scratched his neck awkwardly.
"Doctor M!" Ethan yelled. He and the others ran over.
Kim whacked Michael round the head, or rather the helmet. "Oh I've missed you Mike!"
"Good job guys," Michael told them as he chuckled at Kim. "Power down!" Kim raised an eyebrow upon seeing that Michael was still in his ranger form. "Huh? I said power down!" Ethan chanced a glance at Conner who was quite obviously devastated. "I think we might have a problem," Mike stated, looking directly at Hayley who was lost for words. Yet another issue...
