A/N: You guys may have noticed that I subbed the raptor riders for the cycles/ATVs. I just find the latter so much more efficient.

Apollo Holmes: Well done XD

sabina21: Thanks.

ChillPillBerry: So do I :)

TheTombedSpirit: What sort of advantage? ;)

hewhoreaps: Well done.

Son of Whitebeard: Interesting.

brankel1: Thanks.

"Something's not right," Ethan mused aloud, playing with his pencil while watching Kira, who was doing her homework at the counter.

"Hey Kira," Hayley greeted. "How come you're not sitting with the guys?"

"What? Do we have to do everything together?" Kira mumbled moodily.

"No," her boss answered, a little taken aback. "But you usually do, don't you?"

"Not anymore," Kira replied in a bored tone. "Look Hayley, I don't mean to be rude but I need to get this done for Doctor Mercer's class."

"I'll never get used to the sound of that," Hayley stated. "Doctor Mercer's class."

"Just because your precious Mike isn't teaching... doesn't mean he's not a good teacher," Kira retorted. "We're going to learn a lot from him."

"Okay, whatever you say Kira," Hayley spluttered, her face going red. Since when did Kira call the black ranger Mike? She sighed and walked off.

A second later, the guys got up and approached Kira.

"Hey, do you want to go to a movie tonight?" Conner suggested.

"No."

"You know when someone doesn't want to hang out with people they usually come up with some sort of excuse," Conner told her.

Kira looked up, annoyed at the red ranger. Ethan shook his head at Conner.

"What's wrong? Did you fight with Trent?" he asked, genuinely concerned. Kira bristled at the name and scoffed.

"Nope. Look, I really don't feel like spending any more time with you guys than I have to. Okay?" She sighed and grabbed her things, pushing past the guys. "I have to go. I have something to do."

"What's up with her?" Ethan pondered as Conner watched Kira leave, more confused than ever.

Kira ran through the woods and stopped when she got to the entrance of the dino lab, bringing her morpher up to her lips.

"Doctor M, are you there?"

"Yeah," Michael responded. "What's up Kira?"

"I was out running just now and I think I saw something by the edge of the old forest by the lake," Kira lied carefully. "I think it might be a dinozord egg. Could you check it out for me? My parents want me back home."

"I'm on my way."

"Great," Kira replied, a smirk making its way onto her face. "Thanks."

Kira moved to hide behind a tree just before Michael exited the portal on his ATV. Once he was out of sight, she ran into the lab just before it closed up.

"Now finish the task," the fossil's voice crooned. Kira walked inside, headed straight for the briefcase she had seen Michael put the bone in. Thanks to her dino gem power, phasing, all she had to do was push her hand into the case, grab the bone and then take it out. "Excellent. Soon I will be complete and then I will rise again."

"Kira it's me," Michael's voice sounded through her morpher, "I couldn't find anything out here. Are you sure you saw something?"

"Oh wow," Kira breathed in false surprise. "I guess I must have been wrong. Thanks for checking it out Doctor M."

"No problem."

The purple ranger smirked before she started her journey to the museum.

"So you think Kira's been acting kinda strange?" Mike asked as he and the boys walked into the lab.

"We just don't know what's wrong with her," Conner stated, "I mean, I didn't say anything to make her mad."

"Are you sure?" Ethan asked. "Sometimes you say things that you don't think are gonna get people angry and that's why things get thrown at you."

"Dude, I promise I didn't say anything," Conner told him with a sigh.

"Just asking," Ethan informed him.

"Alright you two," Mike intervened, turning around while holding a briefcase case, "I think we may have a bigger problem than that." This made the boys look at him. "This box contained the final bone to a creature that was created by Mercer and I years ago."

"What kind of creature?" Conner asked, looking more worried.

"Fossilador," Mike answered. "We were trying to create a dinosaur at one time that had the power of mind control. We scrapped it when it got out of hand."

"Great," Ethan squeaked.

"As long as I had the main support bone, it could never come to life," Mike finished explaining to them.

"And that's what was in that box?" Conner asked.

"Yeah," Mike replied.

"So who do you think took it?" Conner questioned.

"If it wasn't you three," Mike started. "And it wasn't me or Hayley... then?"

"It can't have been Kim or Tommy either," Conner stated. "They were... busy."

"On a date you mean?" Ethan teased, relishing the uncomfortable look on his friend's face.

"Yes they were," Mike confirmed. "That seriously cuts down the suspects."

"Kira," Ethan breathed.

The door to the storage room opened as Kira strolled in.

"I have returned as you commanded," she reported in a robotic voice.

"Good girl," Fossilador praised. "Did you bring it?"

Kira reached into her black leather jacket and pulled out a bone that she put under the skull.

"Yes," she answered.

"Excellent," Fossilador breathed while Kira in the middle of the room watching as it came to life again. "You have served your purpose."

The creature then blasted Kira off her feet making her cry in shock and pain before she hit the ground unconscious.

Michael, Conner, Ethan, Hayley, Tommy and Kim stood in the dino lab just as the alarm went off. Fossilador appeared on the screen.

"Yes, I'm free," they heard Fossilador say. "My time has come at last."

"I'm going to take a wild stab and say that that's your fossil monster," Ethan said to Michael.

"Unfortunately, it is," Mike confirmed.

"Any word from Kira?" Conner implored.

"Nothing, but I've been trying," Hayley answered.

"I've tried talking to her. But she's been giving me the same frosty attitude," Kim added with a sigh.

"Think you guys," Mike urged. "Where could she have come in contact with this thing?"

"The museum," Conner stated. "We were on a field trip with Doctor Mercer."

"Yeah, and she disappeared for a while. When she came back, that was when she started to act all weird," Ethan finished.

"Hayley, you go to the museum and look for Kira," Mike ordered.

"I'm on my way," the red head said, running off.

"We'll try to hold this thing off. Get on your raptor cycles. Tommy, get your ATV."

"Don't have to convince me!" Conner chimed excitedly. He and Ethan smirked at each other before morphing, alongside Kim and Tommy.

All the rangers, excluding Kira (and obviously Trent), rode towards the crime scene when they were suddenly electrocuted by their own raptor cycles/dino ATVs and thrown off. Zeltrax stood in front of them.

"You're not going anywhere," he declared. "Triptoids!"

A bunch of skinny foot soldiers leapt out from behind their general and charged towards the rangers, who met them in the middle. Kim fought off a few before coming face to face with Elsa.

"Let's play," Elsa crooned. Kim looked back at the guys who were all deeply invested in their own battles. Tommy used his power - cutting through enemies with pure air speed - before catching her eye. Well, they couldn't actually see each others' eyes but he seemed to understand. Kim nodded at him and then turned back to Elsa.

"Okay," she replied. She unleashed a ptera-scream at Elsa prior to running off in the opposite direction. Elsa growled and got to her feet, racing after her.

After exchanging many kicks, punches and even swears, Kim froze as she felt a familiar pain in her lower stomach. What was this? She wasn't even due for another week! As she keeled over, Elsa wasted no time in making the most of the opportunity. In two seconds flat, Kim was on the ground, convulsing in pure and utter agony.

"Let me go!" she wheezed, a throaty cough making its way past her lips.

It felt like her soul was being ripped in two. Like one of those dementors from the Harry Potter franchise was tormenting her. She heard a scream in her head, but it wasn't hers. No, it was hers but at the same time, it wasn't...

An unsettling thought suddenly crossed her mind.

Something I love is being ripped from me.

No. It wasn't Tommy. Her family members. Her friends. None of those. It was someone... something... else.

The scream was eventually drowned out by Elsa's mocking laughter.

"Say goodbye, Yellow Ranger," she taunted, holding something out in front of her. Only Kim couldn't see it because her vision was terribly blurry. She tried to get up but she was glued to ground, until Elsa pulled her up and grabbed her wrist. Somewhere in the midst of all the craziness, she had demorphed.

Kim cried out in pain but couldn't fight back. Her muscles were slack, her lungs out of breath. She barely registered a pressure on her wrist and then the scrape of metal on a hard surface.

Without warning, her adversary dropped her to the floor. She didn't know how much time passed but eventually, the yellow ranger returned to her senses. The alternating laughing and screaming suddenly stopped.

Looking straight ahead, Kim spotted two objects lying on the floor, discarded, much like herself. As her vision cleared, she realised that the first was a strange, ominous looking flower. The second, was a bracelet.

Her bracelet.

Or rather, what was left of it.

Hayley ran up to the doors of the museum to only find them locked.

"Oh, no," she breathed before running to the emergency exit hoping that it wasn't locked too.

"Miss!" a voice called making Hayley turn around to see a guard standing at the top of the stairs. "I'm afraid the museum is closed. You'll have to come back tomorrow."

"I understand," Hayley told him. "But I think there might be a high school student locked inside."

"That's impossible," the guard responded somewhat haughtily. "I've checked the building thoroughly."

"Can't you just look one more time?" Hayley implored, putting on a dazzling sweet smile.

"Well, I suppose I could," the guard relented, taken by her looks.

Hayley breathed a sigh of relief as she followed the guard inside the museum. After searching several rooms, she found herself drawn to the storage room and threw the door open. Kira was laying on the floor out cold.

"Kira," Hayley gasped, kneeling at the teen's side. "Are you alright? Can you hear me?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," Kira answered once she regained consciousness. "What happened?" Kira took a moment to gather her thoughts and her eyes suddenly widened. "Oh, I set that thing..."

"Are you okay to get up?" Hayley asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Kira sat up.

"Should I call a doctor?" the guard offered.

"Uh, no, no," Kira answered, getting to her feet. "I just need to get home."

"I can't believe that I was responsible for letting that thing come alive," Kira told Hayley as they left the museum.

"Kira, it wasn't your fault," Hayley started. "In your civilian form, you couldn't stop it from controlling your mind. Luckily the guys' ranger powers will protect them."

"I'm going over there," Kira muttered.

"Are you sure?"

"Nobody messes with my mind and gets away with it." Hayley sighed as she watched Kira leave.

Conner and Ethan were thrown around in the megazord when they heard what sounded like a roar.

"Hey, what's that?" Conner asked as he and Ethan looked up.

They spotted the pteranoxord flying their way, Kira standing on its nose as bone like missiles were fired at them.

"Hang on guys!" she called out, the pteranozord dodging the missiles.

"Kira!" Conner exclaimed in relief.

"Dino Thunder! Power up! HA!" Kira yelled as she quickly morphed. "Pterano power!"

"Alright!" Ethan cheered as Kira jumped into her zord's cockpit.

The megazord jumped into the air and allowed the pteranozord to join with it. Once the pteranozord filled in the spots where the pterazord would've been, Kira appeared in the cockpit of the megazord alongside her friends

"Megazord online!"

"Good timing Kira," Ethan told sounding relieved.

"Yeah, we could use the help," Conner added. "But where's Kim?"

"Don't sweat it guys. It's a long story, I'll tell you later," Kira told them, smiling under her helmet. "Now let's blast that bone head."

The rangers all turned back to the battle at hand.

"Fire lasers!" Kira commanded only it did nothing. "Pteranorang!"

The pteranorang cut off a hand that the monster just regrew.

"Nice try!"

"No way!" Conner shrieked.

Fossilador told them before he attacked them with his breath.

The rangers all stumbled around the cockpit but remained standing.

"That was just plain nasty." That was Conner.

"Guy's got some pre-historic breath," Ethan agreed. Kira didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

"I'm just getting started," Fossilador announced as he charged towards them.

The megazord started to spark when Fossilador clung to it.

"Hang on guys!" they heard Mike yell at them as the megazord continued to struggle. "Kira, aim for the spot where you put the missing bone! That's where he's most vulnerable!"

"You've got it," Kira obeyed, as she locked in on the bone. "Locked on! Tyranno drill!"

The megazord drilled through Fossilador before he finally exploded, making the rangers cheer.

"So glad you're back to normal Kira," Ethan told her as the walked down the stairs to the dino lab. "You were pretty scary there for a while."

"I'm so sorry I was mean to you guys," Kira apologized.

"Don't worry about it seriously."

"Yeah," Conner put in. "I mean, we're kinda used to it."

Kira glared at Conner.

"See, that would be some of those things you say from time to time," Ethan informed him.

"Oh, right," Conner said, realising his mistake. "Sorry."

"I'm just glad everything worked out," Kira told them. "It's kinda weird, though."

"What's that?" Mike questioned, swivelling to face them.

"Anton Mercer... This thing was stored in his museum. Why?"

Before the quartet could contemplate the answer, the remaining members of their team walked in.

Or in Kim's case, stumbled in.

"What happened?" Mike implored softly as Kira gasped in horror at Kim's dishevelled state. Her hair was all over the place, her face was smeared with make-up, there were tear tracks on her face and worst of all, there was no bracelet on her left wrist.

Tommy looked distressed as he held Kim up while Hayley looked hopeless.

"I've lost my powers," Kim choked out, releasing her barely concealed tears. "The pterazord is no more."

A/N: So, I got a little lazy with the Elsa-Kim scene but I have a good reason. Thanks to the **** broadband, my original chapter was not saved due to an internet error. So I had to write the whole thing again. I felt like bursting into tears, especially since my father fails to fix the issue. I'm afraid this is what it's gonna be like for at least 18 months now, thanks to a binding contract. Well done Father.

Sorry about the rant and the somewhat disappointing chapter. No doubt I'll have to write this A/N twice as well.
